Kelpwhisker smiled as Rayhunt joined with her, watching both Batkit and Sharkkit from her seat. "They are both difficult in their own ways but, yes, Sharkkit is quite the pawful." she chuckled and pulled a paw over her ear. "Of course, Batkit is practically her shadow so I have to chase them both. I am a little worried about his hesitance to swim however..." she trailed off for a moment, thinking back to his mother. She understood why but she was still worried Batkit was going to be a Dryclaw. Not that that was a horrible thing but it would be...different. "Well Im going to miss the leg room but I miss hunting."

(Oh my gosh so is Sharkkit. It's kinda cute, she's protective and jealous of him xD )
Batkit swallowed, tipping his head up a little and trying fro another paw, sneaking looks around to see if anyone was there. He didn't see the leader of Shoreclan, and Kelpwhisker was too busy talking with Rayhunt... so he could be a scaredy-cat if he wanted. He was five moons old and had yet to actually swim since his mothers death. He was taking steps in the right direction, though, because the first moon without Fintail Batkit refused to even set a foot in the water, and it took a lot of encouraging the first few days to even get him close enough to drink. He let out an alarmed yelp, though, as a wave came and hit him. It was a small wave, but he was a small cat, so it submerged him, dragging him a bit further into the water and causing him to scramble on the soft sand, it not giving him any traction. Panic shot through his body as his head popped back up, the water receding and leaving Batkit looking like a drowned rat, an alarmed expression on his face. Right. Waves were a thing. He kind of forgot about that, because he usually wasn't close enough to the water that he was pulled in by them.

Rayhunt laughed "Yes, the warrior den can be quite hard to get to sleep in." He lowered his voice "Gobyswim snores louder than you'd expect from a little cat. I'm sure the clan will eat better when you're back though."
He looked out at the little black kit, trying to muster of the courage to leap into the water. "If he's a dryclaw it's not the worst thing ever. Plus, a lot of kits are scared of the water at first. If you compare him to Sharkkit..." Rayhunt purred "You named her well. I don't think you needed to add the "Kit" part though. She seems more like a little shark than a cat. She's a natural swimmer."
Rayhunt had sympathy for Batkit. Rayhunt wasn't completely clan born, his parents had been rogues that had joined the clan when he was a kit, and left the clan 5 moons after, leaving him there. He hadn't been built for swimming when he was a kit, and thought everyone in this clan was crazy. He loved swimming know, especially in the open ocean, when there was nothing but water around you and fish to dive for.

Riversong bit his tongue to keep from smiling. "No?" He asked with exaggerated surprise, for a brief moment glancing over to where the tom kit was. He could see Batkit's hesitance and it reminded him of his own brother, who wasn't fond of water. "Well we're all very lucky to have such a brave warrior then, who will catch us a shark. I heard they don't taste very good." He scrunched up his nose, making a disgusted face. "But before you can go face the big bad shark by yourself, you need to be trained."

(Alright!)
Whaleheart slipped out of the warriors' den, pausing momentarily to stretch. He felt a little stiff after his nap, and looked around the camp for something to occupy himself with. He spotted a group of cats a little ways away, feeling a rush of excitement as he noticed two small kits among them. Not wanting to interrupt their playing, he settled down on the beach a short distance from the water and near the others. After watching the pair of kits for a moment, he turned to the warrior to his left. "Hey, Gobyswim." the gray tom meowed in greeting. "Cute, aren't they?" he added, smiling a little as he looked back over at the kits.

(Sure!)
Stormfeather rolled her eyes as she listened to her uncle's silly story. Turning her attention to Batkit, she felt a brief moment of alarm as she heard the kit's yelp. But as she saw him safely on the sand, she calmed herself and padded over. "Hey there," she purred gently, wrapping her tail around her paws as she sat next to him. "Waves take you by surprise?" Her tone was lighthearted, but concern flickered in her amber eyes. She had just been made a warrior when the horrific death of Fintail occurred, and she couldn't imagine how devastate the she-cat's son felt. Especially when it came to water.

(oh my gosh! I'm working on an essay right now comparing Hobbe's Leviathan to The Walking Dead and like always I'm struggling getting started lol)
Stormfeather smiled warmly at the kit, dipping one paw delicately into the water. "When I was your age, I wasn't very big on the whole swimming thing, either," She mewed, moving her paw around. "My father, Eaglefeather, he didn't like swimming as a kit either. It's scary, learning to swim." Standing up, she waded into the water. Being older, it only came to the top of her legs. "You don't have to rush yourself." She glanced over to where Sharkkit was. "It's okay to take your time with learning to swim."

(I got really, really into it xD Now I have to do a lesson plan for my other Library Media class and I have no idea what to do lol. Good luck with your essay! )
Batkit watched as the much larger cat stuck a singular paw in the water, swirling it around in an almost lazy fashion. He was entranced, wondering how someone could feel so normal around this stuff. Whenever he was even near it he felt like a... well, he felt like a fish out of water. He didn't move from where he was, content to watch the older cat wade in the water as the waves barely touched his own paws. "But I don't wanna be a DryClaw," He blurted out, a reason why he didn't want to take his time learning. If he wasn't ready by the time he was apprenticed he might be called one... and he'd be left out of so much. He'd be the kit his adopted mother was ashamed about, and for someone who had so much anxiety when it came to others approval to begin with that was a nightmare.

(Thanks, and good luck with your lesson plan! What does it have to focus on?)
Batkit's words pained Stormfeather. She smiles sympathetically at the small kit, feeling a strong sense of compassion for the little one. "Would you like me to try and teach you then?" She asked, moving closer to where Batkit was. Maybe if she watched him, he wouldn't feel so nervous. "I'll help keep your head above water," she mewed, adding, "I promise I won't let you go under." She waded patiently in the shallows, glancing over to where his adopted mother was. It was true that most apprentices knew how to swim, and Batkit would soon become one along with his sister. But she didn't want the tom to feel pressured or embarrassed.

"Oh yes they are" Gobyswim mewed shyly. Kelpwhiskers kits were quite adorable. Gobyswim loved kits, she found them much easier to talk to than older cats. Older cats expected so much of you. Kits were impressed if all you knew how to do was to swim and hunt, which was all Gobyswim could really do. Fighting Moorclan cats, defending the territory, and not being scared of everything were things beyond her. She just wanted to pad along the beach, swimming in the pools of water and fishing.
"Do you want any kits someday?" Gobyswim asked, looking at how the large grey tom looked lovingly at kits that weren't even his.

Its due by midnight so I have a few hours lol. )
Batkit looked up, a little surprised at the offer. His ears flattened a little, not really liking the prospect of going into the water again, but he was already wet so.. what the heck. Maybe she could help him just a little bit, so they wouldn't think he was a DryClaw. He gave a small, hesitant nod, his eyes wide with worry. "But what if the monster tries to take me away?" He squeaked fearfully, eyeing the water like it was about to gobble him up. Its what had happened to Fintail... like mother, like son, right?

Stormfeather peered into the water. "If the monster tries to take you away, I will fight him off!" She promised, a fierceness in her eyes. "You'll be safe, the monster doesn't like shallow water." She danced around in the water, causing a ripple effect. Swatting her paws around, she looked back at Batkit. "See? No monster. I scared him off with all this moving." She waited patiently, her pelt clinging to her lithe frame.

(Yeah... It's not too bad, I've done lesson plans before in my education class, I just have no freaking idea what I'm going to do for it.)
Batkit swallowed, his ears still flat anxiously as he saw he swatting the water, as if to scare the monster away, but he feared that she was going to anger it and she'd be swept away like his mother. But nothing happened, and slowly his ears stopped being so flattened against his head. He gave a slow nod, putting a hesitant paw into the water and then another one. Soon it was up to his below and he looked incredibly uncomfortable, fear pounding against his chest. "Wh-wheres the monster, then?" He asked softly, eyes worried, but at least he was in the water.

(Is there anything in particular your lesson plan has to be about or is it completely up to you?) Seeing Batkit in the water, Stormfeather purred in encouragement. "The monster?" She thought for a moment, trying to remember stories she was told as a kit. She thought of what Riversong used to tell her, and decided to go with that. "The monster doesn't like to come out near us. He lives in the gulf." She thought of the gulf, and how it was believed that a monster hid underneath the surface, controlling the tide to prey on cats. But she didn't want to scare Batkit, especially after just getting him to come into the water. "When your paws can't reach the ground, relax and kick your paws so that your head remains above water."

(Nope. It's all up to me, besides it has to be related to what the librarians part is, but i think I'm going to focus on third grade social studies, because thats when kids in Utah learn about major world ecosystems, and since they need to research for that I'll focus on that part. )
Batkit fell quiet at the answer, his legs stiff with fear as the water lapped against him. This was the furthest he'd gone in yet, save for when the wave hit him. He clearly didn't want to be in the water, forcing himself to be still, his body trembling just a little bit in fear. He shook his head when she talked about his paws touching the ground, not wanting to leave the soft sand, even if it was slowly pulling him in. "Uh-uh." He squeaked, seemingly frozen stiff in his spot.

(That seems like a fun topic!) Stormfeather waded over to where Batkit was and pressed her fur lightly to his. "I'll be right next to you the entire time," she ensured, slightly shaking the water off of her tail. "We can stay where your paws touch the ground until you're comfortable being in the water," she quickly mewed, not wanting to force the tom to swim before he was ready. Crouching low so that her head was even with his, she grinned. "See? The water is sleepy today."

(Yeah it is! I'm just being a lazy butt xD tbh I'm considering having there be a wave and him being taken into deeper water just to give his mom a heart attack when Fogs back on lol)
Batkit looked up when the much larger she cat pressed her fur lightly against his, eyes wide with fear. She would be there, the entire time, no one would hurt him, right? He swallowed, pressing against her and not seeing the grin, just watching the waves with suspicion. "See? The water is sleepy today." She commented and he supposed she was right, but still... "It feels funny on my fur," He complained, wrinkling his nose in distaste.

(I completely understand because I've been staring at this word document for a good hour now and have done nothing xD Stormfeather will have a panic attack "I told him it was safe!" lol)
Stormfeather tilted her head at his comment, sniffing the air. She had gotten so used to the scent of the water that she forgot its smell could be off putting. "Us fluffy cats always feel weird in the water," she joked lightheartedly. As a kit, she had protested the water after it had weighed her pelt down.

Whaleheart turned his gaze back to the other warrior, nodding in agreement. "Yeah," he answered. "Maybe not right now, but in a little while I'd love to have kits. I'd even take in some that are without parents. I mean, obviously I couldn't feed them or anything, but I could look after them." the gray tom finished, hoping he hadn't been rambling too much. He meant what he said, knowing his own mother had been adopted by a pair of cats after losing her own parents. Letting out a content sigh, Whaleheart glanced back at the two kits playing by the water and thought briefly back to when he and his sister would do the same.

(I LIVE FOR CHARACTER GROWTH. I feel so bad for Batkit, he's just a fluffy cute kit being attacked by water)
Stormfeather instantly regretted her word choice. "Oh, it goes away! You get used to it after spending a little bit of time in the water!" The young she-cat rambled, shaking out her pelt. If she ever had kits of her own one day, she needed to ask Kelpwhisker how to keep them calm. Stormfeather followed him as he moved a little further in, her amber eyes watching the kit intently. If he were to slip, she'd be there to quickly grab him.

Gobyswim laughed. The Tom was very nice, taking about taking in parentless kits like that. Their seemed to be far to many of those recently. She looked over at Batkit, who seemed terribly uncomfortable in the water. Who could blame the kit? She thought. His mother had been taken by the Monster. Gobyswims mother had been a Dryclaw before she died, and Gobyswim didn't look down on her. Being a swimmer wasn't for every cat. She hoped the little kit realized that.
She padded up to Batkit, saying goodbye to Whaleheart. She walked up next to him, the water lapping at her legs. "You don't have to go in if you don't want to" She said softly. The kit looked so scared. He shouldn't feel pressured to do things just because his sister did.

Batkit relaxed immediately at the reassurance, giving the larger she cat a small nod. "Okay... if you say so," he mumbled, staying where he was before he heard another cat walk up to them, and he couldn't help but let out a rather indignant squeak at the comment. He knew they were only tryomg to help, saying it wasn't a big deal but honestly that just made him want to do this even more. "N-no! I wanna do this. I wanna swim as good as Sharkkit," he insisted, puffing out his chest as he took another step forward, not liking how the waves were pulling at him but not willing to give up, either.
It was a shame, really, because he used to love the water. Before his mom had died they used to tease him, saying he should have been named Fishkit because of how much he was in it. He wasn't exactly the best swimmer, but he did like the water. He'd gotten used to the stinky smell and the uncomfortable sticking of his fur. But now he felt like this was his first time in the water ever, like those few moons swimming were torn away because of one fateful night. Now he was determined to get it back.
