(Nah, tis all good.)
"That's what it is, isn't it? That's what they smell like." Farlow ducked a swing from a ghoul and knocked him away with a swing of his sword. "Only one way to find out!"
Ollie pressed his flesh hand against one of the ghouls, interrupting the connection it had to it's master. It fell limp to the ground. Ollie glanced down at it with sadness in his gaze as he stepped over it. If only they could be saved too... He looked up and saw Farlow and Ash deal with the other ghouls of the area. His eyebrows raised when he saw the way Farlow and his friend attacked. He had been shocked to find out Farlow was more than a ferret friend. The fact that Farlow's friend was an animal of sorts shouldn't be surprising, especially since he already told him a few factors. Both Farlow and his friend's minds worked as well as any humans, and he'd trust Farlow's judgement. Everything would simply take a while to get used to is all. He smiled then. They needed all the help they could get. He stopped before the two. "So you're the one Farlow's been telling me about?"
(Lol! ^^) --- Olga's eyes narrowed and she nodded. She re-entered the base. Striding through the halls, she realized she had no idea how to find anyone in this place. She frowned for a moment, then an idea came to mind when she saw something on the wall. A fire alarm! Perfect. She pulled it, but it didn't work. In fact, it seemed the electricity was out again. How peculiar. "Hello?" she called out, her voice cracking.
"There's no time to explain! We have to hurry!" Ollie grabbed her wrist and began to pull her away, running back the way they came and through a maze of buildings. If Lydia looked closely, she might see that he was made up of hardened softlight. ~ Alpha sat comfortably on the building roof, Ringo seated at his left hand. Compared to Alpha's size, Ringo looked like a mere child. Ringo's eyes were closed, but if they were open, they'd show the orange-red light that represented Alpha's control. Alpha chuckled softly to himself. They were hidden by Ringo's illusions, but from this view, he could see everything unfold before him. "This suits you much better, kid. You always did too much thinking for your own good."

The machinery pulled away from Alex's hands as it finished installing taser attachments to each of his fingers. "Warning: Partial upgrade subroutine corruption detected. Cannot install additional upgrades at this time. Proceeding to final phase." An articulated cable lowered from the ceiling, appearing as some sort of mechanical snake as it moved on its own. It almost seemed to "stare" at Alex with the glowing green light at the end acting as a sort of "eye". Shortly afterward, a small spike extended from the light and it jammed itself into an access port in his circuitry. He jolted violently from the sudden influx of data, his vision being overwhelmed with scrolling lines of code and warning messages. "Installing upgrade software. Twenty percent uploaded."

Pip seemed to relax when the machinery seemed to separate itself from Alex. But when something stabbed him and he began jolting, she let out a scream, pressing her tiny hands against the window. "It's killing him!"

Ash shrugged "Fair enough" he said. It was a fitting name for these things that didn't stop until they were killed. It was like they were some type of zombie or something. Ash turned to Ollie "Yeah, I am. Names Ashton and to make things short and simple, I'm a human just like you. I was just experimented on which is why I can become what I look like now. Can you quickly explain to me what is happening right now?" He asked
Lydia felt like something odd was happening. Ollie hadn't seemed like the type to drag people away. He seemed too timid to do that. Plus the sensation she was getting was something that wasn't human. Her hands tingled as they ran before she finally realized why the sensation was so familiar. Suddenly, green hardlight appeared and went to wrap up Ollie. "You're not actually Ollie. I should have realized that the moment I saw you" she said
Masaki gritted his teeth as he watched the scene unfold. He wanted to just go in and burn the machines in there but he knew better than that. "He won't die from this. They wouldn't make him take these upgrades if they knew it would kill him. They'd lose a ton of money and businesses hate wasting money" he said
(I did the dice thing again and she rolled a 17 so that's why she noticed)

( πππππ π¨ , thought I'd tag you in case you wanted to jump in with any of your characters back at base. I decided to commence the gang plot anyways. ^^ Status so far: Lydia got lured away (for now). Olga went inside to call for help. The power is out again. Unknown to anyone as of yet, an invisible emotion-bending person is inside the building.) "Anyone there?" Olga called again, coughing a little. She never did well with loud voice. She stepped into the kitchen and peered around in the darkness. A soft shiiiing sounded from within. Olga couldn't see the kitchen knife that seemed to lift into the air of its own accord.--- (Nice! XD) Ollie stopped when Lydia resisted. Green hardlight snaked up his hand and arm, creeping onto his chest and torso as he turned his head to look at her. There was a creepy non-Ollie-like grin on his face. "So you figured it out," he said with a grin. The light shifted, revealing Ringo's- or as he'd introduced himself to Lydia, Mensonge's form. "Long time no see, Aegis," he sneered. While he had been pulling her away, the light had shifted around them, the roads all foreign and seeming to lead off in different directions than before.--- Pip seemed to calm slightly at his words, but she continued to glare through the window. "You got that right. You should see their faces when I pull off a big scam."--- "Ashton..." Ollie echoed, getting a feel for the name. Another person who had his life changed by some experimenter. It was sick. He wondered if something similar had happened to Farlow. "Night is back. He was supposed to be dead, but somehow he's back and causing all this havoc. Still, I don't think we can afford to leave here now. If these things get any further into the city, it will become exponentially worse." Ollie closed his eyes for a moment. "It feels like some people are facing Night now, and it sounds like this Z guy has an idea of what's going on." A scream sounded nearby, and Ollie's eyes flashed open. He ran off, continuing to speak as he ran. "We'll have to trust them to figure this thing out, while we protect the city!" And if they could clear these sick creatures away... maybe, just maybe they could get to Night and end this whole thing.

A scowl grew on Lydia's face as Ollie transformed back into Mensonge. "I really should have realized sooner. But do you really think you're going to be able to trap me here? All I have to do is make a hole in this joke of an illusion and I can just slip out" she said as purple light started to encase itself around her
Masaki let out a light chuckle "It is pretty fun watching them scramble around like the rats they are" he said
Ashton listened to Ollie explain everything. When he started to run, Ash kept following Ollie with ease. "If you can show me a safe place to bring Farlow's kids, then I think I would be of more help to you guys" he said

Mensonge's smile did not fade. "But you can't keep that up forever. Besides, if you do that, you might lose your chance to find me. That kid from last night seemed quite intent on kidnapping- me. I'm guessing it's because of something the old lady said wasn't it?" --- There was a scream, and then silence. Olga lay on the floor, dead. Whisper stood above her, looking down at the body. "I didn't want to do this... Blast that fool for messing up."
Soft footsteps echoed through the hall. Whisper looked up. Rosie strode through the darkness and into the room, a cold air about her. Her eyes held that orange-red tint that could only mean one thing. She was being controlled. It seemed Alpha had taken his second target. --- Pip glanced back at Masaki in surprise. He usually got all mad at her when she talked about her old career. --- "Farlow's kids..? Farlow's kids! Where are they? Are they with you? The only place I can think of, is back at the base." Only problem, the base was quite a ways away from here. And if this was allowed to spread, nowhere would be safe. The road opened up to another intersection. A child was cornered against a building, ghouls racing towards him. Ollie reached out with his right hand and the ghouls paused in confusion. Farlow dashed in and began taking out the ghouls while they were distracted. In the chaos, Ollie managed to get close to the boy and desensitize one or two of the ghouls that came too close.

It finally clicked as to what had happened last night to Styx. It seemed like she had run into Mensonge and tried to save him and he then proceeded to stab her in the chest. It was odd that the girl had actually done that since it seemed so different from what Lydia had thought she was like. "She begged us to save you. That if we found you, to not kill you. I'm just surprised that you managed to survive since you met her" she said as she started to walk away "But right now, I could give two shits whether you are the real one or just another fake. I'm going back" she said as she started to focus on the light illusion around them, trying to rip a hole in it so she could escape.
Masaki noticed the surprised look on Pip's face and let out another chuckle "What did you think I haven't taken down a few corrupt businesses as well? Well, if you count mafias that is. They get their money through illegal means" he said
Ash moved his cloak to the side slightly to show that the two children were clinging on to him. "I've been keeping an eye on them and have kept them out of trouble for the most part" he said before letting out a sigh "So there's nowhere to keep them then" he said before looking towards Farlow "You got any ideas?"

"So that's how it is. You fools. You'll never win with that attitude," Mensonge mused, a smirk on his face. He acted similar to how he did before, but something seemed different about him. Perhaps he held himself differently, or perhaps it had something to do with the look in his eyes. The illusion shattered without much resistance and everything returned to normal. As normal as a dark sky could be. They might be hidden in the darkness, but clouds were forming. Mensonge remained standing there. "I'm surprised you're willing to let him go that easily, even though your little friend is dead because of him. That is unless... She's still alive." --- (Eh... ;w; Writing this stuff makes me sad. Whisper vanishes and is doing something. Rosie is somewhere in the building. Olga's body remains before the kitchen.) --- A smile spread on Pip's face. Perhaps Masaki wasn't as much of a drag as she originally thought. "As mah protectah, you think we could pull some heists at said businesses?" --- Finla and Lowen cowered closer to Ash when Ash opened his cloak. Ollie looked at them with wide eyes. The group of ghouls defeated, Farlow drew near to Ollie and Ash once more. Upon Ash's question he let out a pained sigh. "I'd tell one of you to take them and run far away from here, but I've got the feeling that neither of you are about to do that."
Ollie had turned to speak with the child, but the boy had already ran off. "You know.... It wouldn't hurt to send someone back to base. There is a chance the others didn't hear the news. Not only would the kids be brought to safety, we could bring back reinforcements. The more help we have, the better. I'm sure th-" Ollie peered down at his watch and stopped mid-sentence. His eyebrows pulled together. A noification was there. From Lydia.

Esmeray had been walking down the halls, when she spotted something amiss. Not so much spotted, as heard. She ran towards the source, through a patch of darkness as she became one with the shadows, as she crawled on the walls, reaching finally towards the kitchen, where she spotted a dead body, eyes wide. Olga....was dead? Glancing down, Esme tapped frantically on her wristwatch, sending an alarm to the team members, eyes wide.
Styx had been enjoying watching the fight, though she froze as an alarm started blinking on her wristwatch, a beeping that seemed to draw attention from some nearby minions of Night. She slapped her hand over it, glancing between multiple things, before saluting uselessly with two fingers and jumping back to the wall, climbing it and hoisting herself to the top, red eyes narrowed as she finally glanced down the the red blinking watch.
It seemed Esme had typed out a message, Olga is dead. is what it said, and she growned out in frustration. βI leave for one day, and they already cause issues!β She hissed out, before outstretching her hand, pulling herself into a portal. She reappeared suddenly in the base, red eyes seeming to glow strangely in the dark as she pondered down the halls.

Lydia grimaced "Our goal isn't to win, you moron. It's to protect the people of this city like the little girl you held captive and your mother" she said as she kept walking. At the mention of Styx however, Lydia stopped and turned with a smirk on her face "How could you kill something that wasn't exactly alive in the first place. All she needed were a few stitches and she was good as new. Now, you can stay right there while I go back and make sure everyone is safe" she said as she turned back around and started to walk again. She looked at her watch and realized Ollie had still not called her back. She was really gonna slug him at this point. She started using her watch again so that she could dial Ollie when she got the notification which stopped her dead in her tracks. She clenched her teeth and fists as she tried to hold back her emotions. Olga had been such a sweet old woman that reminded Lydia of her own grandmother.
(man when I saw that Olga had been killed my jaw dropped. I really liked her too since she was such a sweet old lady)
Masaki gave a small nod "As long as they are making money through illegal means, I'll help you steal from them. But you're not going to keep all that money, mind you. We're gonna give some of it to people that actually need the money." he said
Ash nodded "You're damn right I'm not leaving right now. But if I had known where this base was I would have taken them there already instead of bringing them to a battlefield" he said. He noticed how Ollie looked at his watch "What's the matter? Your team already on their way?"

Esme kneeled down once she reformed, the shadows dissipating slightly, looking around frantically for whatever could have happened. It was when she turned that she spotted the hovering knife, her eyes widening with terror as she stepped back into the shadows, becoming one with them and watching wearily. She might have melded with them, but this itself did not grant her safety. She learned that the hard way with Orion.
Styx found her red eyes flickering throughout the hall, before she started walking, trying to pick up on any signs of what might have happened. She paused, however, stealing a glance at the room closest to her, Lydiaβs, reading the plaque with the name caused her heart to sink slightly. Usually the girl would be so loud, protective. She wondered where she was. She turned back around, wondering a bit aimlessly in an attempt to find out what was happening.
(Feel free to throw anyone at Styx is you want to.)

The knife sliced through empty air and stabbed into the floor. There was a soft mutter from behind it. Still invisible, Whisper took a few steps away from the knife and searched the shadows, listening and waiting. Had the girl gotten away? Either way, it seemed she had contacted the others already. They should all be gathering soon. Just as the boss wanted. She took a few more quiet steps away. She needn't spill any more blood today. She should just let the boss unfold his sick game. Besides, she had already done what she had come here to do. --- (Yep. Depending on what happens next, something might be tried. :3 For now I'll throw Anne in.)
Anne suddenly seemed to be walking beside Styx. "Things aren't looking too good," she commented, more to herself than to the girl beside her.
(Now here's the moment I wonder... Can ghosts see invisible things?)

Styx flickered her eyes, staring at the ground with narrowed eyes, before glancing at Anne, βAre Ollie and Lydia safe?β She questioned, not much emotion in her voice, though her gaze seemed to give away at least the barest amounts of concern.
Shadow remained silent, before sitting on the ground, face twisting into a grimace as she watched Olgaβs body. She couldnβt see the girl, but if Shadow used the darkness to her advantage, the girl wouldnβt see her either. She used a tendril of the darkness as a wave, l8ke a tide, splashing out into a slashing motions, more tendrils, like tentacles, lashing out the grab whatever might be there.

Whisper was about to turn and leave when the shadows seemed to shift. She jumped back to avoid it, knocking a chair over with a clatter. But there were too many strings of shadow, and in the dark room, they were hard to see. The first latched onto her wrist, and from there it was only a matter of seconds before she was restrained. Although pointless to hide any longer, Whisper stubbornly remained invisible. This wasn't looking good. She should have taken more time to study the other teammates. --- "For now," Anne replied, meeting Styx's gaze for a brief moment before looking forwards again. A small bit of a smirk formed on her face, but she did her best to hide it.

(I totally didn't sleep all day what are you talking about-)
"Software update at fifty-five percent." Alex clenched his free fist as he tried to bear through the data overflow. He tightly shut his eyes in an attempt to block it out, but the data screens persisted. It felt like there were over a thousand thoughts simultaneously running through his mind, he couldn't even hear his own thinking anymore. "Software update at eighty-two percent...ninety-five percent...software update complete." Alex went limp as his mind finally began to calm and his vision cleared. "Unit Epsilon-43, please proceed to armory sector '5E' to receive equipment," the system voice ordered. After regaining his bearings, Alex shook his head and yanked the cable out of his arm in annoyance. The panels along his arm automatically closed after the disconnection. "Well...that might have been the most unpleasant experience I've had yet."
(When he goes to the armory, I'm gonna try that dice roll thing for what he gets. Basically leaving it to chance if he gets a neat new weapon or a glorified tree branch lol)

Farlow ran with them without much exertion, quick and silent.
Ollie glanced at Ash as he ran. The wolf-man creature might be a foot or so taller than him, and he seemed to be rather strong, but still... just thinking about it made him somewhat uneasy. "I wouldn't want to be a burden!" he called to Ash over the sound of their running footsteps. His watch buzzed against his wrist and he glanced down at it briefly. Lydia was heading in, it seemed. Stay safe, I'll be there as soon as I can... he silently wished. He didn't write anything in response, because to do anything on that new piece of technology would only make him run slower.
Farlow's nose twitched. "I smell a storm," he stated, glancing up at the dark sky as he ran. --- Rosie turned to look at Lydia, her eyes of unnatural hue. She stared with a narrowed gaze. Whatever it was, she didn't seem very happy. She had been standing on the street in front of the building, so Lydia likely would have passed right by. --- (Sour: Ooh, that sounds like fun! ^^)
Pip looked back into the room, pressing her hands back against the glass. A smile spread on her face. "Can we go see 'im now?!"

Ash let out a low growl when Ollie refused. He ran slightly faster and went to pick Ollie up by his cloak "Trust me, someone as light as you couldn't even begin to be a burden to me. You're being a burden by not allowing me to get us there faster though" he said. At Farlow's comment about the storm, Ash sniffed the air and smelled the storm as well "Just great. Seems like this villain is really trying to set the mood now" he muttered
Lydia was about to enter when she felt a presence behind her. She quickly turned to see Rosie standing there. Lydia wondered how she could have missed the girl but she figured it must have been because she wanted to get here as quickly as possible. Lydia started to close the distance to Rosie "What the hell are you doing out here? Did that gang bring you out here?" She asked with a concerned tone in her voice
Masaki smiled and nodded "Course we can. Seems like you've really taken a liking to him already" he said

A door opened up in the room Alex was in, and another opened in the observation room on the same side. The automated system voice spoke up once more. "Observers are now free to accompany cyber units to the armory." Alex stepped through the door into another hallway, and began looking for directions to the armory sector. He didn't find any signs, but he noticed that his guidance system had already pathed a route to the armories. The upgrade process must've uploaded some kind of map of the facility to him. "Well, that'll make the rest of this venture easier..." he muttered to himself.

Ollie let out a sort of yelp when something yanked the back of his coat, and his feet no longer touched the ground. He scrambled to find a better hold. "A storm?" he echoed, eyes narrowing. Was it Rosie? Maybe she was in danger. "We have to hurry." Rain began to fall lightly from the sky.
"I'll scout ahead. Meet you there," Farlow told them before picking up speed. He leaned forwards as he ran, and it was almost as if he was running on four legs. He was much faster than the average ferret, especially in this form. One negative aspect of the enlarged bipedal form, was some loss of agility. While more much more agile than the average human, the size and build of this form made it less maneuverable than his ferret form. For example, running fast and straight was easy in his humanized form, but sudden turns were far easier in his ferret form.
(I don't know why I spent three sentences explaining technicalities. Oh well.) --- (Since Cheshire can't be sensed, Alpha probably doesn't even know if she's there. He will keep the thought in mind, considering the considerable damage she caused back at his own base. So she likely won't be attacked until she comes across one of the others, and nor can he attempt control on someone he doesn't sense. Perhaps if he saw her he could make an "attempt", but that's another story. Besides, he'd be more likely to go for the others in that manner anyways, since she's not very susceptible to his ability.)
The shield was set in place. It was like a dome of illusion around the block of their base. It warped light in such a way that people approaching it from either side would likely end up back where they started. Alpha grinned. If everything worked accordingly, the heroes here were trapped, and nobody was going to come save them. - Rosie continued to stare at Lydia as the rain fell heavily around them. Light flashed, briefly showing her unnatural orange-red gaze, and the sky rumbled above. Her eyes had been green before. "Aegis... I'm scared." Somewhere unseen, a click sounded.

Pip pursed her lips and look away. "I mean, he's an okay guy," she muttered. After all, he 'had' kind of saved her life before. When the door opened, her restrained facade immediately vanished. "Look! The door opened!" She hopped down from the window ledge, growing to what would be considered normal size. She ran for the open door, bursting out into an open hallway.

(Actually, after her little upgrade, I think it would only be fair she could be sensed. She gained some abilities, but lost some too.)
βIf you think itβs so fun to kill the helpless, letβs see you be helpless.β Shadow snapped, bringing her hands down quickly, the tendrils of darkness following, slamming her target, wherever she was, into the ground. βCome now, we canβt both play hide and seek, own up to what you did, vermin.β
Styx stopped abruptly, the smirk didnβt seem to escape her, and her red eyes narrowed, her voice turning back to the cold, threatening tone it seemed to bare most of the time, βAnd whatβs that supposed to mean?β She questioned, the small girl clung to herself, pulling up her arm out of itβs cloak she was in, and looking at the scars that circled her wrists, like joints forced together, her fingers displayed out, before curling into a fist.

(Is that so..? Duly noted. :3 I guess we'll see how this all unfolds then.)
Whisper let out a cry of pain as she crashed against the floor. She flickered into view, entangled in shadows. This girl was this powerful? This was a major miscalculation on her part. Her short study of the hero base and it's members had failed to mention a girl with the power of shadows. After all, someone who couldn't be seen was difficult to properly study. She, of all people should know that. The kitchen knife she had used earlier was stabbed into the floor halfway across the room. After using pressure points to knock her unconscious, she had used it for a quick, practically painless death for the elderly woman, but at this distance, the knife would do her no good. There was only one option left, as much as she hated it. It all depended if she could move just enough to grab onto the gun hidden within her clothing at her waist. She struggled against the shadows, but said nothing. Her teeth were gritted closed. There was nothing to say at this point. There was no excusing what she had become. --- Anne couldn't hold it back any longer. A smile spread on her face. "What do you think it means?" She chuckled softly then, her smile fading. "I have reason to believe they are still alive, but I wouldn't call their situation 'safe' per se."
