"Well, you all have obviously had a lot of bad things happen, that you didn't deserve. Why not do something about it and prevent that from happening to others? If you hurt people, then you are no better than the people who hurt you." Freak/Dex sagely pointed out. It was then that Freak concluded a quick search for a quote he remembered and added to what Dex said. "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good people do nothing. With what you are saying, you want evil to win..."
Karma shrugged at the thanks, but paused at the statement and began to smirk. It wasn't the first time someone had made such a remark. They bit back the tempting reply of 'every day is Halloween for me'. "I'm guessing you are either new to the city, or haven't really paid attention... There's plenty of folks here that dress up and help people. There are also ones that dress up and do really, really bad things. So if you ever see a person wearing a mask or a cape, be wary until you know which kind they are. This isn't anything like a comic book. You can't always tell which is which." Karma answered with a chuckle.

"Yeah, yeah, I know the deal," Ray huffed, waving his hand dismissively. Like he had to worry about any of that... Heroes, villains; what could they do to him? He hadn't died yet. He hadn't even felt the concept of pain before. "So you're one of those, hm?" His gaze drifted over to the child in the hoodie. "What are you going to do with her?"
The guy with the copper beard was looking at her! Pip made a show of looking at her feet and kicking a loose stone. From beneath her hood, she continued to watch their interaction.

Karma gave an unseen eye roll, but nodded to the first question about being 'one of those'. At the second, however, the masked hero gave a shrug and glanced in Pip's direction. "Still deciding. Figured I'd find out what she's up to first, and why." They murmured. "I'll handle it though." With a nod, Karma turned and stalked back off to Pip. "Listen, I'll be happy to help by giving you some money. It can't hurt. But if the situation with your mom is that serious, I may know of something else I can do too." The teen paused, watching the 'kid' closely. "What kind of surgery does she need?"

Ray turned, chuckling quietly to himself and shaking his head. Whatever. The 'saviour of wallets' could do what they want with the child. Time to head home. Letting out a final yawn, Ray walked away, his shoes scraping the ground with each step.
Karma was approaching. Pip stopped kicking at the ground and waited. When he began to speak, an uneasy feeling crept over her. No! She didn't want anything else! Just hand over the money and get this over with! But alas, it seemed they had to make life difficult. After the question, there was a moments pause. "I- I can't remembah the name. Somtin's wrong with Madda's heart. I guess it'd be some sorta heart surgereh." Pip's voice quivered with emotion.

Hairs prickled on the back of Karma's neck as they felt an aura of uneasiness spreading from the girl. Aha, so the assumption had been right after all. Very well, might as well play along a little longer... "That's... terrible. My grandmother had a heart attack a couple of years ago. Nearly killed her. The insurance wouldn't cover everything, and my family ended up creating a Go Fund Me for her. Within just a few months, everything was paid off through the donations. Would you mind if I did the same for your mom? I want to help every way I can." Karma's tone sounded warm and genuinely caring.

Oh? This 'Go Fund Me', sounded pretty interesting. Maybe it could be an easy way to get more money..? Even so, Pip doubted that the program would be 'that' easy to trick. They probably had precautionies set up for people like her. She'd have to look into it sometime. "Yah mean like... free moneh? You'd realleh do that?!" Pip let excitement creep into her voice. Perfect, just wrap him and his kindness around her little finger. "Madda could finally get well! She's gonna be ever so ha- Wait. Didya say a few months?" Her voice suddenly lost it's joy, dropping down into teary disappointment. "I- I don't think we have a few months. It's, it's gonna be too late!" She burst into sobs. Large, warm crocodile tears dropped onto the dirt beneath her feet. Oh yes, the false emotions came ever so easily.

"Do you know how doctors and hospitals work? If it really is a matter of life and death, they'll go ahead and do the surgery, and then bill her for all of it. The donations would pay for those medical bills. What hospital is your mom at? I can call and make sure for you, and set up the account when I get home. I'd just need her name, more information about what's going on, and preferably a photo of her to put on the page. People are more likely to donate when they can put a face to a name. Even better if you're in the picture with her, that way people will see that she has a kid." Karma calmly explained. The tears put them a little on edge when the sobbing started, but the hero didn't really respond to it. The whole story seemed like a bunch of bologna, but Karma was hoping to get the kid to admit to it. They were fair. If the girl decided to tell the truth, Karma would still be nice enough to give her money.

(I have two characters now that think one thing and do another. ^^' Maybe one day their ideals will line up.)
Yeesh. This was more work than what it was worth. They barely even reacted to her tears! That was usually the selling move! "They will?" Hope entered Pip's voice once more and she brought a sleeve up to her face to wipe away the tears. She looked down when she did so, keeping her face concealed. "Madda nevah trusts doctah's. She don't like hospitals either. But I will trust 'em if it means they'll save mah Madda." She was quiet for a moment. Impatience grated her insides. From within her long sleeves, her fists clenched. Another moment passed. "You'ah not gonna give meh the moneh, are yah..?"

(Maybe so XD)
Karma's face formed a hidden smirk, and they nodded at the first question. "Of course. That's how it works here. Even if your life isn't in danger, the doctors still have to treat you. They can't turn you away for not having money. Promise." The teen kept their voice soft and soothing, in order to make it seem like they believed her. At the last question, Karma paused, as though thinking it over. "Yeah, sure. You won't need any money for your mom, not if you still want me to set up donations for her. But I'm sure you need food and other stuff. How much do you need?" There didn't appear to be any pockets, or otherwise, on Karma to suggest they even had money right then, but they had other ways of storing it.

(Honestly love the quote.)
Lotus was annoyed. Her green eyes narrowed at him. “So what if I’m evil?” She questioned then, smirking. “The best ways to make your goals remembered, is to make an impact. Even if I was this ‘Holly’ you speak of, she obviously isn’t remembered well at all. Who misses her at all? So if I want to be remembered, if I want to really change the world, shouldn’t I cause the extinction for the rebirth to happen?”

(Same! I've heard it before, but I heard it again yesterday when Gamer and I were watching an episode of Miraculous [the first one, I think...]. I looked over and was like 'I've gotta have Freak say that now'. It's a good thing to live by.)
Freak grimaced at Holly's words and stubbornly shook his head. One of his blue eyes slowly darkened to a warm brown color. "We do miss you. You were our friend, and all of us remember you. But if you destroy everything... who will even be around to remember you? That doesn't make any sense at all." His voice had grown quieter, more strained as he felt he was failing to get any logic through to her. "We won't hurt you. You were one of us, once, and we're still your friends. But we're not going to let you do this either." He wasn't sure how Lotus would respond to that but tensed his muscles in case he had to make a quick escape. Freak was no coward by any means, but he also understand the importance of telling the others everything he'd just heard, to warn and prepare the rest of the team.

Lotus found herself watching his eyes for a moment, intrigued. She sighed, “I don’t want to destroy everything, and I don’t see any point in killing needlessly. But Night has a vision, he says I had my memories erased by you guys, and he helped me when no one else would. He made me stronger, and more powerful.” She echoed, eyes blank for a moment, before she cast a look over the city. “The girl you know, or knew, she’s gone.” She murmured, solemn as she spoke.
She watched him, his readiness to escape. “Oh don’t worry, your ‘we’ has been...” She trailed off, almost sinister in her grin, “has been cut down a little, or at least, the person you knew me to be is gone.” She softly joked. She stared out then, green eyes narrowed. “You seem nice, but I won’t hesitate to kill you if you get in my way.”

Freak hesitated, trying to think the situation through. What would Kat say if she were there? "I can promise none of us did anything to your memories. We couldn't if we wanted to. I don't think even Kat knows how." He insisted before pausing, "You said you don't want to destroy everything or kill needlessly... what is it then that you're planning?" His mix-matched eyes narrowed in a curious way, rather than in scrutiny. He needed to find out everything he could.

Waro glanced up from the newspaper. "What are you looking at?" He nodded towards the kitchen behind him. "Coffee's in there." --- As soon as Isaac touched to doorknob, an electrical current was released, something akin to a powerful taser. "That's why," Zed replied simply, walking towards Isaac. The door was made completely of metal. Anyone who tried to open it or break in would be zapped. Zed could turn it off whenever he wanted to enter. "It's polite to ask before looking through someone's things, ya know?" Hornet smiled brightly and nodded. "Okay. Thanks." Seeing this hero, antihero, in such a lackluster setting confounded and intrigued her all at once. --- Isaac yelped and jumped back, practically ripping his hand from the knob. "It's even less polite to zap your guests!"

Lotus hesitated, her eyes dropping to the ground. “I can be very powerful, I can lead the world, along with Night, Chaos and Orion, we can bring a new age to the Earth, end all of this needless pain.” She explained. She went silent then, her eyes focused on him. She then looked back, “I should be quiet now, I don’t trust you. I know someone has to have control of memories, Night told me so. And Night is the one helping me.” She then smirked, “Hello, my friend.”
Behind her, a new figure appeared, cloaked in the darkness, and didn’t move much closer, only watched. It made itself slightly visible, eyes narrowed at Freak.

"Your intentions are noble, but the end doesn't justify the means." Freak tensed at the unexpected arrival of another person. One of the villains? "Look, the only person I've ever known with anything to do with memories is some guy, neither hero or villain, that causes most people to forget about him. That's it. He's not one of the heroes and I don't think he can make people forget about themselves. You say you don't trust me, but how do you know you can trust this... Night? He could be lying to you, for all you know. Villains will say whatever they have to to gain allies and achieve their goals. They're the ones that can't be trusted." Both eyes were brown by now, and he shot a glare at the new person.

(Aaand I'm back.) --- (Pardon the shortness. ^^)
Pip nodded. "Let's do this Fund-somethin'-o'-othah. With the moneh for for the food and the hospital, mebeh Madda will finaleh have enough ta get meh into school next ye-ah!" Her fingers peeked out of her sleeves and she began counting. "Seh... four-hundred should last us about a month of food..." She paused, and with a worried tone, continued, "D'ya think that'll be enough..?" --- (Chaos: Ah. I just don't know how about to get it done... ^^ Would they offer it, or would Ollie have to be the one to ask for it?) (Also, I can't help but wonder how inviting Waro and Hornet to the team will turn out. He has a personal grudge against Ollie. XD) --- Hornet seemed cheerful. How odd. Waro went back to the newspaper, but was no longer reading it. He should probably bring up that episode from last night. He just didn't know how to get around doing it. It seemed he was stuck with her. She made it clear that she would, under no circumstance other than death, leave him. Since he was entitled to her protection, he couldn't just ditch her either. Oddly enough, that idea had become rather unappealing. The last person he had living around here was Anne, and that had been a few months ago. His blood chilled somewhat at the thought. He hadn't particularly like the girl, but she had been a good source of information. Even now, his memory was foggy about that day. But there was one thing he remembered... --- Zed smirked. "I didn't zap you. The door did." He stepped between Isaac and the door and pressed a few specific buttons on his advanced remote. "You see, I don't get many guests. Especially snoopy guests. Snoopy guests get what they deserve." His normally overly-cheerful voice had become somewhat foreboding. "But I'd like to think you are a friendly visitor with friendly intentions," Zed continued, his voice regaining cheerfulness. He turned to face Isaac, turning his back to the metal door. His eyebrows were raised in an expectant manner.

It was bitter, but wonderfully warm and a strong pick-me-up. She sat down across from him, legs neatly crossed and both hands holding the mug on her lap, while her smile greeted his passing glance. ---(Welcome back <3) Isaac eyed the boy with suspicion, but took the handle once more. There was only a moment's hesitation before grabbing, but once he did he entrusted Zed not to let him get zapped again.

Karma paused, having not expected to be asked for such a considerable amount. It wasn't that they didn't have it, but they were understandably hesitant on handing over so much money to a dishonest person. "You should know that you also don't have to pay to go to a public school. You'll need supplies and clothes, yeah, but there are charities to help with that." The teen crossed their arms. "There's also three really good food pantries in the city that can help you guys out, when needed. One of them will give you clothes and household stuff, in addition to food. I'll write down their numbers and addresses for you. As for the money, I only have about fifty on me right now. I can get more, but I'd rather meet your mom first and talk to her. I still need some information from her for the Go Fund Me." Karma held out a hand to Pip. A fifty dollar bill rested neatly on the palm, and the suited teen watched the girl closely.
(I keep expecting Pip to lose her patience and use a power on Karma haha)

Waro snapped back to the present, and briefly met Hornet's gaze. "I uh..." He needed to think of something quick! His gaze flicked down Hornet's form. "I uh... was wondering if that's the only clothing you have." Whew. It had in fact, been a question he wondered about last night. --- Zed was upon him in a flash. He slapped his hand away, without letting him touch the door handle. "Now what did I just say?" He shook a finger at Isaac. "You have to ask!" Again, he waited.

(Maybe. :3) (Probably.)
Did they have an excuse for everything? Pip was getting tired of this game. Anger building, she opened her mouth to retort. Suddenly on their hand, was a fifty dollar bill. Her mouth closed, and her anger dissipated. Wha-? Where did it come from? Hmmm... They were a smart one. They didn't want her to know where they got it from, so she couldn't take the rest. She slowly reached forwards, her hand inching towards theirs. A couple hairs away, her hand flashed out to take the fifty dollar bill. It looked too long and slim to be a child's hand, but it may have gone to fast to get a good look.

and she couldn't get to the rest anyway, not unless she can mimic powers)
It was dark, and Karma was wearing a mask, and didn't have the best eyesight. However, they did catch a brief -- very brief -- glimpse of a hand that didn't look as though it belonged to a child. "What's your name, by the way?" They doubted they'd get much information, with the way this encounter was going so far, but it wouldn't stop them from trying.

(Yeah. I think I know where. ^^ )
Another note of hesitation. "Pip. The name's Pip." Of course, it wasn't her real name. It was a name she'd been using the last few years to avoid recognition. Not that anyone would recognize her anymore. Who knows, maybe she could create an entire new identity with this name, if she told enough people. Now that would be fun. Now it was time to wrap up this little game of theirs. Holding this form was tiring. Giving up on trying to cover it all up, she settled on a direct question. "Ya sure ya don't got mo'e moneh?"

"Pip, eh? That's a cool name." Almost the same as what my cousin decided to name a snake. Of course, Karma didn't mention that little tidbit. "No, sorry. Not on me right now, anyway. But like I said... if I could speak to your mom, I can stop by an ATM and give you more, and set up donations for her. Whaddya say?" Karma held out their hand. The money thing wasn't a total lie. Physically, Karma didn't have any more money on them at the moment. Pocket dimensions were nifty.

Pip grinned, and reached out to take their hand. When her hand clasped their gloved one, the touch burned for a moment. "If ya don't have the moneh, I'll just borrah sometin else," she laughed, her voice no longer sounding like a child's. She let go of their hand, and the transformation proceeded, clothes and all. The world was going to seem a lot bigger to the supposed hero for a while. She watched the transformation with glee.
(Sorry for the lack of detail. I thought I'd let you expand on that. XD)
