(Hehe. I'm just introducing a new character here, if that is alright. ^^ I thought she'd make things more interesting.)
Ray half expected someone to jump out at him, but no one did. The masked person had gone on ahead, which was probably easy for them, considering the slow pace Ray was going at. If this really wasn't a trap, and there was nobody at the end of this alley, whoever took his wallet was probably long gone by now... Ray squinted down the alley. "Hey... I think I see a light," Ray murmured. It was a dim light at the far end of the alley, casting a faint silhouette of the child. He was just stepping up beside Karma, when whomever was at the far end of the alley started to mutter about something.
The alley abruptly stopped at the wall of a building. The child in the large sweater was shining a dull flashlight as she rifled through the wallet, with her back to the alley. "I mean really, who carries around one dollah? One dollah! And what's this? Pitchers?" The voice sounded nothing like a childs. She sounded like a grown woman with an accent. She tossed the pictures out of the wallet.

โHe helped me,โ Lotus said defensively, โI remember...images,โ she frowned slightly, โOf people hurting me, and people are cruel. His vision will change that.โ She assured, fruitlessly. โI donโt think heโs a villain, I think you heroes canโt accept the truth, so you erased my memory in an attempt to fool me.โ That was quite the opposite in fact. She didnโt remember Freak per se, she remembered small flashed of Karma, and some form of Karma...killing her? But it was only flashes of the worst, and none of them, were exactly helpful to the heroes.
Her green eyes flickered to the streets bellow, where a car swerved from hitting a person, both yelling profanities at one another, and a frown marred her features. โPeople are terrible, whatโs the point in even trying to help them anyways?โ She asked.
(Anyways, donโt know if you saw it. Hollyโs past(along with Kyoko and others) has been changed slightly. Daphne was adopted, Kyoko is 18/19, Holly is 16/17, and their older brother would be somewhere in his 24/25 range. Daphne is 17/18, But is still technically blood to the siblings because he was their cousin that their family adopted. Thatโs the plan anyways.)

Karma looked down the alley and noticed the light easily. Hmm... Maybe this'll be easier than I thought. They held a cautionary hand up to Ray, signaling to stay back for safety, before skirting down the alley. The teen tried sticking to the shadows as much as possible, and even though the cloaking ability wasn't as strong while in motion, they used it as much as they could to -- hopefully -- keep from being noticed until they were close enough. The child's -- woman's? -- voice only faintly reached Karma's ears, but they could detect some kind of British-y accent. How interesting. Once Karma was within a few feet, they let out a quiet, dark chuckle. "Mmm... That doesn't belong to you." They tried to sound as creepy as possible.
Freak hesitated. He wanted to ask what kind of vision the villain had, but wasn't sure if he'd be able to get that out of her. If only Karma were there to suss out the information. "Not everybody's terrible. We try to protect the innocent, good people from the bad ones." He tried to helpfully explain. "And try to lead a good example for everyone to follow while doing so." The hero smiled. (Interesting... XD I've got a lot of catching up to do.)

"Coffee?" She'd actually never had a chance to try it, now that she thought. So, taking the frozen peas with her. And when she saw him sitting there, she just watched for a moment. This is so surreal.

Ray was starting to come to the conclusion that this person (Karma) wasn't a thug after all. He needed no second warning to stay back. Not because he was scared. No, simply because it was easier. Yawning quietly, he sat down by the wall and leaned his head back against it with a soft clunk.
Stuffing the wallet back in the pocket of the hoodie, she was about to turn out the light when a creepy voice sounded behind her. Her eyes flickered for a moment before she spun around, shining the light directly in the Karma's masked face. She screamed, backing up against the dead end behind her. "Oh, please! Don't hurt meh! I just need some money for mah sick Madda!" Her voice suddenly sounded more child-like; tight, like she was about to cry. Her hood was pulled forward in a way that it concealed her face. --- Waro glanced up from the newspaper. "What are you looking at?" He nodded towards the kitchen behind him. "Coffee's in there." --- As soon as Isaac touched to doorknob, an electrical current was released, something akin to a powerful taser. "That's why," Zed replied simply, walking towards Isaac. The door was made completely of metal. Anyone who tried to open it or break in would be zapped. Zed could turn it off whenever he wanted to enter. "It's polite to ask before looking through someone's things, ya know?"

Karma exhaled through their nose and slowly shook their head in an amused sort of way. "Me? Hurt a wrongdoer? Now, what would give you that impression? Is it my face?" The teen took a few emboldened steps forward, then held out their hand with palm facing up. "Hand over the wallet, and everything in it. Then we'll talk about helping you. Alright, kid?" A pair of eyes narrowed behind the smiling mask. Their tone sounded sympathetic, yet firm. Something seemed off about this 'kid'. Karma didn't even need their skills as an empath to be able to tell that.

(Oooh. Nice. ^^ I never really got the chance to roleplay one on one with Karma when I was on here before now, but it sounds exciting.)
It seemed the person took the bait, although she felt they didn't fully trust her. It was the way they said 'kid'. Did they know? Was her face showing? She tugged down on her hood, sniffling. No. They couldn't possibly have noticed. She took out the wallet, but instead of handing it over to Karma, she held it close to her chest. "Do ya promise ta help meh get the money?" she asked quietly. It was only one dollar, perhaps she could scam this guy for more. If worse came to worse, she could make a run for it, and easily find someone with more.

(Yeah, so the thing with Karma is that only a few people know their true identity. Out of costume, Karma is presumed to be one of three close friends; Casey, Trey or Piper. Since the gender is unknown, I use they/them. The two that aren't Karma, help the one that is to keep the secret safe, and a voice changer is used to alter the voice to something neutral sounding.)
Karma took mental note of the way the girl pulled on her hood. "I give you my word that I have money, and I'm happy to share it with those that deserve it." Again, they held out their hand to take the wallet back. It was true, Karma did have some money, but kept it somewhere safe, and inaccessible to pretty much everyone but themselves.

(Such mystery... :3) (I'm going to use her name to make things easier.)
The word 'deserved' made Pip inwardly grate. What? Did they think she was undeserving? She deserved every penny she got! Why? Because she was 'that' good. It was people's own fault for being so careless; or at least not careful enough for her. Heh. Yeah, she'd show this guy, this girl, this strange masked creature, whatever it was, that she 'was' deserving. Of course, she let none of her thoughts show in her motions. Her hand quaking slightly, she set the wallet in Karma's hand. She quickly pulled her hand back and it slid back within the overly long sleeve. Staring at Karma's feet, she swallowed and awkwardly waited. Next to Karma, height-wise, she came up to his lower chest.

(Indeed ^^ K)
(For anyone unfamiliar with the scoville heat unit: The Jalapeno pepper is about 2500 Scoville Heat Units (SHU). The famous ghost pepper is up to a million SHU, and has landed some people in the hospital. Now there's a tiny chocolate bar being sold on Amazon. Using special extracts, each tiny square contains a heat of over 9 million SHU. For comparison's sake, US military grade pepper spray is only about 2 million SHU.
Also, South American countries prefer eating their chocolate with pepper instead of sugar. Chocolate was originally made this way. It's different, weird, but not bad.
The world's hottest, though? It's good, if you like the feeling of fire ants biting your tongue, and/or sticking a lit match in your mouth. XD Most people can't eat more than 3 or 4 tiny squares before giving up. It's that potent.)
Karma was avoiding directly peering into the girl's mind, as they tried to respect other people's privacy. However, they were still learning and developing the ability*, and sometimes couldn't stop very small fragments of info from reaching their mind, in the form of an intuitive feeling or a hunch. One thing kept prodding Karma's mind, and that was the sensation of 'entitlement'. Did the girl feel entitled to money? Was she poor, and felt like it was owed to her? Interesting... Well, this definitely required a slightly altered plan from the original. Karma smiled along with the mask when the wallet was handed back. "Alright, here's how this goes. I'll make you a deal. You have two choices. I can give you twenty dollars now, no questions asked. You walk away with some money for your trouble and that's it. Or... you can talk to me, help me better understand your situation, and I'll consider giving you a lot more than that." The costumed teen crossed their arms, still grasping the wallet. "What'll it be?"
(*Not the new-ish ability I mentioned earlier.)

Lotus found her eyes narrowed, โNo one is innocent,โ She coldly started, though it was honest to most degrees. โEveryone lives only to fend for themselves, only to dictate the lives of others and make money on the pain of others.โ She found her voice even, a habit she had when she was really herself, โThis world,โ she chuckled sourly, sadly almost, โDeserves to burn.โ She finished, finding herself staring at Freak with a dangerous smirk.
โSo you set an example by what? Being popular, but watching as people die, or kill, or fight all around you? What, so you can make an entrance?โ She asked, acting confused as she tipped her head. Before straightening it, โBut the fact is-โ her voice went soft as she stepped slightly closer, her shortness didnโt stop enrolled as she looked up, her fingers went up to make quotations in the air, โHero,โ she addressed, โYouโre not really here for them, youโre here for yourself, because thatโs the only person that matters, right?โ

(Wow. That's interesting. That chocolate sounds dangerous. ^^)
Pip's eyes brightened from undedneath her grey hoodie. A lot more than twenty bucks? Fifty? One hundred? Maybe more..? Oh ho ho! This was a rare find. It was obvious which option she'd choose. Pip wrung her hands together and with a wavering voice, she explained, "The surgereh mah Madda needs is very esspensive. I needs as much as I kin get." She looked up at his smiling mask, her face still concealed by the hood. "I'll talk."

Freak's face fell a hundred miles at that very villain-esque speech. Had Holly really gone to the dark side? Dexter might have mentally smacked him for thinking such a geeky reference at a time like that, but decided to let it go. In fact, Dexter was partly taking over Freak's speech, as the poor guy was having trouble speaking and thinking coherently in the face of a friend gone bad. He'd never had to defend morality and heroism like this before. "You... Have a dark and distorted view of the world. Innocence means a lot of things. There are plenty of people that do a lot of good and genuinely care. There are also billions of harmless children and animals, and a lot of natural beauty, and love in the world. Only a heartless villain would want to destroy any of it..." That last part was mumbled more to himself than to Lotus. He took a half step back when he was approached suddenly, squinting down at her in a sad, disapproving way. "Everyone's lives matter. Not just ours. I... I'd even give my life to protect someone, even if it meant not taking credit and ending up forgotten. I'm sure all of my friends feel the same way. We're not in it for fame or popularity. If we were, we wouldn't wear masks..." He pointed out before taking another defensive step back, shaking his head and hoping it wouldn't come down to a fight. Freak would never deliberately hurt someone, especially not a friend.
(I guess it could be in a large dose, but the candy bars are very small and the pieces are pretty tiny.)
Karma could feel the girl's growing excitement. "Alright, wait here. I need to go return this first." They motioned toward where Ray sat further down the alleyway. If the teen didn't believe all of that about the girl's mother needing surgery, their voice didn't betray it. They glanced around in the alley, noticed the discarded pictures and messily stuffed them back into the wallet before striding back toward Ray.

Lotus smirked, approaching closer, โIโve died before, Iโve learned that from Orion,โ that was a new name, another villain who had freed Night. โDo you know what that feels like?โ She questioned, โBecause itโs not fun, I know, I have small flashes of visions from those deaths. Itโs agonizing, terrifying.โ She whispered, โThose people kill, those people hurt, animals may be innocent, so are children. But grown people? Do they know that pain, that they cause? If they did, would they even care?โ She asked.
Her grin turned darker, โYou wear a mask so people like me canโt haunt you. Youโre cowards, not heroes, afterall.โ She pointed out numbly. โAnd risking your lives for others? Pathetic, I doubt you ever have.โ She said, glancing around her. โDo you know what death feels like?โ She questioned, raising her hand up, levitating some of the objects around her, not him though, โI could show you.โ
(Actually yeah Light this power I mentioned to you is really dark isnโt it?)

(Ah, makes sense. ^^) (Man, I love your attention to detail. XD)
There were two pictures. One of a sickly looking man with dark brown hair, the other of a woman with long wavy copper hair. The distant murmuring stopped and Ray heard footsteps come towards him. Wha..? Where was he? He blinked open his eyes and looked around at the dark alley. Karma was walking towards him. Oh yeah... That guy. By the looks of the wallet they held in one hand, it seemed the masked person had made success. With a grunt, Ray pushed himself to his feet.
Pip waited, curiously watching Karma and Ray. She took a couple steps forwards, but that was all she dared to take. She had to play the good, 'innocent' intentioned child just for a little while longer.

Freak shivered at the thought, but he was no less daunted about the possibility of defending someone. That much was clear in his eyes. "I don't know what it's like, no... and it was wrong for you to have to feel it. I... can't answer that question, but I'd like to believe that most would care." He paused as the expression turned darker. His pulse quickened. "We also wear masks to protect our friends and families from people like you." He countered, flinching as he watched Lotus levitate some objects around her. To the question, he shook his head. His expression was wary and concerned, perhaps pitiful, but not fully afraid. Would Holly really try to hurt him? Had she sunk so far?

Karma waited until Ray was standing again before holding out his wallet without a word. Though their hearing wasn't particularly sharp, the teen tried to pay close heed to their surroundings for any sign of a threat. Although, they doubted the girl would try anything after the offer of money. It seemed to Karma that the 'child', if she was one, was trying to make a good impression and make Karma feel sorry for her. Karma did care a lot about people and enjoyed helping them, in spite of the prankishness, but they also knew when to be careful and wary.

Lotus frowned, backing up for a moment. โNo one cares.โ She added in a more hollow way. โOrion told me about his life, about what people did to him. Heโs like me, and so is Night, I think. Chaos is a little different,โ She hummed.

(The more I read about Lotus, the more certain I am about a future aspect. :3) (So how are we going to do the mechanical arm scene, or do we just assume it was already made?) --- Ray took the wallet, and opened it. He fumbled inside for the pictures, and let out a breath of relief when he found them. They were hard to see in the dark, but Ray could tell just by seeing their shape. He pushed them back in and closed the wallet. "Thanks man. You aren't half bad," he thanked with a smirk. "But what's with the mask? It's not even Halloween."
