Hello fellow Brit! If you were a musical instrument, what would you be?

Well hello fellow Brit Hmm... I don't know. I feel like I really like violins, but I'm not elegant or sophisticated enough to be that XD Probably a trombone or something because i would be able to play incidental music to accompany my clumsiness.)

Hey, ree, what do you think on the Jaffa Cake debate? Is it a cake or a biscuit? I'm team cake)

Post by 𝘨𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘯 𝘴𝘶𝘯 on Jul 30, 2017 11:17:27 GMT -5
I'm also team cake. it's in the name, first of all, it fits the definition and is also way too soft to be a biscuit. plus I love biscuits, dislike cake and hate jaffa cakes so there's some proof right there

(Haha fair enough x I totally agree though, honestly. I think a judge ruled that they were cakes too so the law is on our side)

Oh my gosh, I remember these threads! (I hosted one for 'Ask a Texan' once)
What's the coldest its ever gotten where you live?
Do people there try to imitate american accents, because I know a lot of people in the states who love to imitate British accents.

The Kat's KitKatHaha yeah x In the winter it's gotten to like -20 Celcius (-4 Fahrenheit) where I live, up North. Right now it's about 18 Celsius, or 65 Fahrenheit. Hmm, sometimes, but not as much as I imagine Americans like to imitate Brits. Honestly, though, I promise you that like 0.1% of Brits actually sound like the 'British' accent as Americans think of it)

Wow, that's cold (well at least to me CX ) Its 91 degrees Fahrenheit (about 33 celcius) where I am right now, and it hardly drops below freezing even in the middle winter... Also, good to know I have a lot of family from other parts of the country and they always try to mimic a really strong Texan/Southern accent, but most Texans (at least that i've met) don't actually have a strong accent cx

what do american accents sound like

Post by ƤαƖƖαѕ ✧ on Jul 30, 2017 12:04:12 GMT -5
Wow 33 Celsius is extremely hot for me. I don't think we ever really get those temperatures in the UK. Haha yeah like none of us sound like the Queen and very few of us are cockney. There's a YouTube channel called ohemgeeitsmaya who has the same accent as me, if you're wondering what my accent is like Yeah I feel like if people imitate American accents, they tend to go for Texan or like a California or New York accent. We always over exaggerate it just because we think it's funny. I don't know why but some British people seem to think the American accent is hilarious.)

@redheartofriverclan
I mean, American? XD
No offence, but some Brits tend to think American accents make you sound stupid or overdramatic, or at the very least very amusing. I don't really have an opinion on the American accent.)

What do you think of Americans calling chips 'fries' and crisps 'chips'

What do you think of Americans calling chips 'fries' and crisps 'chips' Don't even get me started XD I don't hate it, it's just confusing. I mean, chips are literally...chips of potato, more chunky. Crisps are more...slices of potato. So I don't understand. Then there's the difference between jam and jelly. In Britain we call both jam and jelly 'jam' and we call 'jello' jelly. And then there's fanny packs. We call them bumbags because in Britain a 'fanny' is a woman's...private part? And OMG the whole debate on the pronunciation of 'caramel' is so amusing to me because there is no such debate in Britain, we all say 'car-a-mel', not 'carmel' or whatever. Also the way you pronounce words like mirror and spirit amuses me a lot)

-- x ƜιƖƖσωfƖαмє x -- OMG lol I had no idea XD Fellow Brit high five! Or awkward handshake XD Yeah I'm not even gonna lie American words and spellings amuse me a lot. Yeah and for some reason they think we all have terrible teeth? Idek where that came from. Hmm...it depends. I have a Southern auntie who I hate so much because she's quite pretentious and rude and she truly overexaggerates the whole 'oh, daaaarling' posh stereotype. I find her annoying. I mean, southerners in general I'm okay with, I just hate the ones who think us Northeners are all dumb or whatever. Like my auntie who hates to come up North and acts like we are all Neanderthals or something. What do you think of Northeners?)

ƤαƖƖαѕ ✧ well I only personally know 1 northerner so excuse me if this is a little bit generalising but they seem very friendly and humorous to me and theyre not very fussy about things overall I think northerners are pretty easygoing most of the time and are very nice but in my honest opinion I couldn't really care less where you're from as long as you love our britishness so we can laugh about confused Americans c:
