first of all fabulous avatar 10/10
it actually kind of ties in with my question. in your schooling how do they teach the revolutionary war? in America it's really (for lack of a better word) hyped up, and just told with tales of glory and valor, because it led to the founding of the country. i've always wondered how they teach it on the other side. the whole phrase 'the winner writes the history books' just made me wonder about that. idk if the question was quite clear, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As you can tell I am in a lot of fandoms x I found something that combined Hamilton and HP and had to have it x No, they don't teach it, really. The thing that kind of bugs me, though, is that in Hamilton King George III says 'when you're gone, I'll go mad', which kind of makes it sound like he went mad because of the American Revolution. It comes off as kind of arrogant, to me, but it is untrue. I mean, yes, George was totally crazy. He talked to trees and stuff. But it was nothing to do with America leaving. To be honest, though, I think they don't teach it because everybody knows that Britain was kind of the worst in the 1700s and stuff when they were majorly greedy in terms of getting colonies. But I would definitely say that Britain weren't necessarily as villainous and arrogant as they're made out to be. I definitely think that there's still sometimes a perception in America that the British are arrogant and haughty or whatever but we're totally not, we're really chill. I think it comes from all of that though. They do teach us about the Vietanam war, which I found fascinating. We were taught that America say that they retreated (which they did) but that they often don't awknowlege that they were totally losing that war. From what kind of perspective do you guys get taught when learning about Vietnam?)

From what kind of perspective do you guys get taught when learning about Vietnam?) fandoms are the best 10/10 (I'm speaking in a generalization here, about the people i know, because i've had this discussion with some people before) I don't think any of us are under the impression that Brit's are arrogant and haughty, I think that people more perceive brits as 'fancy' (again for lack of a better word) one of the first things that come to mind when i think of Britain is the queen, which i think most people just associate with the general populace? (just going to apologize because of the weird way i worded all of this, its been an off day.)) We got taught about Vietnam back in 3rd or 4th grade, so I may be a tad bit confused. i believe we were shown a lot of propaganda posters, and i don't think we actually acknowledge the fact that we basically lost. the retreat was probably mentioned a few times, though again, i can't remember too well, but i don't think we focused too much on it. i think our military won the war but our politicians lost it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Haha yes totally 10/10 would fangirl again XD
Fair enough. Yeah no the Queen is as far from the general public as you can get. I mean, we Brits look at pictures of American houses and we all think you guys have huge houses XD We're not fancy, we're the most laidback yet awkward people ever XD Maybe it's from the overly polite thing? We're all just socially awkward and clumsy and stuff, we are the opposite of Her Maj, who is sophis and rich x
Yesh the politicians handled Vietnam very badly XD But your soldiers were great but just not suited to the Vietnam heat and the Vietcong's guerilla tactics. Your soldiers also did 'search and destroy' missions and killed a lot of innocents when trying to find Vietcong soldiers, so the American public got upset and protested, lowered morale with soldiers, etc until retreat. The media coverage of the war made that whole thing worse too, there are pictures of little kids getting burned with chemical weapons. You'll have to forgive my history dump, I spent months revising this for very important exams I had this year and I had to write many essays on why America 'lost' Vietnam)

real talk though why are your houses connected? like if one lights on fire then the whole street is pretty much screwed They're not all connected, we have detached and semi-detached houses. But the reason our houses are small and close together is because Britain is a very small island. We've got a high population density and not nearly as much space as America has to house everybody. So we're a bit cramped. But to be honest in houses built of brick and with fire alarms it's not really a problem X)

ƤαƖƖαѕ ✧The Big Houses 'thing' is something I hear from a lot of people? And this honestly just depends on where you live, whether it be in the city, or a suburb, and also family size and overall income. (Which is how it is anywhere in the world I would suppose) Where i live, all the houses are a slight bit larger than average size, because we're in the country and property and houses aren't too expensive. If you built the same house in somewhere like Atlanta, in the right neighborhoods they could fetch for $750,000+, though where we are they're about 150,000-300,000. Location is everything I love Brits in general, though I never saw the appeal of Malteasers? They made me feel sick actually xD History dumps are great don't worry! History is one of my favorite subjects but I'm awful at remembering things like years and names, which isn't too helpful seeings as history is one of my interests. I thought your 'history dump' was quite fascinating actually!

neb Haha yeah we Brits basically live in shoeboxes. I once stayed in a little holiday home in the countryside and i swear to God it was about five steps from the front door to the back door, it was so tiny. I felt claustrophobic XD I'm glad you like Brits, I like you Americsn people XD You guys have top banter X Yesh I like Maltessers but the best British chocolate is the Double Decker, amazing X Other classic British sweets include the Yorkie Bar, Starbursts, Stawberry Laces and Midget Gems. I never really liked Hershey Bars, though I do give the thumbs up to Nerds and Reese's Butter Cups. I don't like like Twinkies though, way too much cream. Yeah I'm a major History buff, I want to be an archaeologist. I have to try hard to remember dates, though. I'm glad you liked my history dump XD I could talk History all day. The Roman Emperors particularly amuse me, like Caligula who made his horse an important official and tried to wage war on Poseidon by making his soldiers attack the sea and take the shells as the 'spoils of war'h

oh dear. I don't like to admit it, but I'm a total anglophile. sorry if I seem overly-geeky when I ask these questions haha
- What do you think of the French? - What British stereotype do you consider to be most true? - Why do you celebrate some guy failing to blow up Parliament? - Why is there such a rivalry between the countries in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales, N. Ireland)? - What, if anything, makes you proud to be British? - and lastly, what on earth is cheeky nandos

indecisive It's fine, the more questions the merrier x - The French are very pleasant people XD I like them. But there are some Brits (usually those who were in the army) who don't like them - That we're overly polite XD We're terrified of confrontation and offending people - Because we like Parliament, idek x And we wanted a excuse for fireworks and bonfires - Hmm... There's not a rivalry, per se. But a lot of other British countries don't like England because they think we steal the limelight. It really comes from the fact that England united all of those countries, whether through war or the monarchy (England and Scotland united when a Scottish king became the English king after Elizabeth I died with no kids). Some of the people in those countries want independence - Free healthcare and a good education system - A cheeky outing to Nandos, the chicken restaurant.)

@indecisive Yeah, I probably told you that when we chatted on my shameless self plug thread x We did chat there, right? Or was it somewhere else? We've talked before but I have a bad memory XD ✶Jaysong✶ Not that often, tbh, but I do like it over coffee. Hot chocolate trumps them both though)

ƤαƖƖαѕ ✧ yes, I think we did. and I totally agree with you on the tea thing. I don't drink coffee, so tea is preferred, but hot chocolate triumphs over all

indecisive Well, like I said then, always good to find a history nerd and musical theatre nerd XD And yes, hot chocolate is totally where it's at. I find coffee way to bitter to be honest, no mater how much milk and sugar I add. Tea is nice but yeah, hot chocolate is the best hot drink ever.)
