"I would imagine so," he said faintly, and once again quieted down as she rambled on. It was a touching gesture; never mind the fact that he couldn't see color in the first place, had never been able to see Silverpelt and all that. But Tornheart felt at peace, and sometimes that was all you really needed.

(she's trying so hard lol, unfortunately I need to try and get some sleep. I'll type a little thing and then we can just end it there)
"Mhm." Is all she says in response before yawning, soon she was finding it hard to keep her eyes open. Her body sways a little, always shooting upright whenever her fur brushes along his and she realizes she's leaning. "I was thinking about, about the fox and, and my accident." At this point of the night and her state of mind, she has no filter. "I'm remembering it again, even though I try not to." Another yawn and she's given up on trying to keep her eyes open, and trying to sit up straight so she's leaning on him for support. "I think...I think I'll be..." Honeypaw trails off, not finishing her train of thought as she's already dozed off. Guess she didn't realize just how tired she was.

The brown-furred apprentice got back up, shaking off some of the dust from his fur. He took a few steps back until there was the same amount of distance between them. Time for a different tactic then. Dustypaw lowered his torso to the ground again, before he charged forward. It seemed like he was going to pull the same move as last time, until suddenly the apprentice leaped towards the left and away from the warrior. He braced himself quickly, before making a few more false charges and then backing again. I just need her to do the first move. Dustypaw thought, maneuvering around the warrior.
Shadowbrook waited for Softpaw to finish, before the black she-cat moved through the bushes and lead them to a new area. Birds chirped in the tree branches above, and there was the occasional rustle of prey in the distance. The mentor continued walking, before pausing as the land began sloping upwards. "This seems as good a spot as any... Can you smell the rabbits?" She questioned, looking back at her apprentice.

Aspentrail followed her apprentice with her gaze, not moving her body. In a flash, she leaped at him, leaning towards one side with her paws facing a different way to fake him out.
Softpaw heard the chirping birds and rustled prey, but she closed her mind off to them and scented for the rabbits. After a moment or two, she nodded. "They seem close!"

Dustypaw's eyes widened in surprise, and the apprentice dropped to the ground and dove forward under the warrior. He lashed out upwards, and kicked with his back paws to stand up from underneath her and throw her off balance.
"This is the plan." Shadowbrook said, lowering her voice. "I'll disrupt them and try to send one towards you. When it gets close enough, you need to grab a hold of it and kill it alright? The scent's rather strong, which means there's probably more than one of them. You grab that one and then I'll try and go after the other. Understood?" The dark-furred warrior explained to her, her tail motioning along with her words.

(Yeah I gotcha) Brokentalon was lying in his nest, he can't really remember the last time he had gotten up to walk around but that wasn't a huge concern for him. However, there were plenty of times he wished it was that easy for him to just get up and stretch his legs by taking a walk around the territory. The scruffy tom gives a sigh and leans over, beginning to groom his fur, his eyes drifting to his leg. A scowl permanently sits on his face and he looks away, glancing to the others in the den. "Lizardfang, have the apprentices come in recently?" The silver and fawn tomcat looks upwards at the sound of the tabby's voice. "Wouldn't you smell them if they had?" He points out quietly, tilting his head to one side. "No doubt they're all out training, or hunting." The tiny tomcat shifts in his nest, sighing softly. "Though, it's nice to see some differing faces for once...even if they pretty much only come in here to check us for parasites." ~~~~~~ Across from the two, Cedarnose slowly raised his head, blinking blearily. "One wonders, how does any cat stand being cooped up all day and night? It makes sense for them to not be present once in a while. But they will be back, if that is what you are so concerned about. You will not be abandoned, striped friend." The tortoiseshell gestures to Brokentalon as he speaks.

He flinches at the tabby's harsh stare, ears flattening against his head. Ahh, Lizardfang. He truly hadn't changed much. "She'll be back. Either that, or one of the other apprentices'll take care of it first." The tom would probably do it himself, but he could never be quite sure whether or not other people were okay with his touching them. It was oddly intimate, depending on how you viewed things. And he wasn't exactly about that.
~~~~~~
And Cedarnose looks back at him, though it's more with vague interest than anything else. "It is not as though I can read your mind," he states, rasping his tongue over a small forepaw. "But, I must say. Some elders certainly fit the stereotype of 'complaining too much'," he shoots back, smirking all the while.
[It's okay haha]
Lizardfang just cleared his throat awkwardly, pale gaze darting back and forth between his uncle (not that Cedarnose felt like much of an uncle, being far younger than he was) and Brokentalon. No doubt this wouldn't end well if it came to a fight. Either they'd both get injured, or the frailer tortoiseshell cat would end up dying. Brokentalon was still relatively strong, after all. It seemed to be a miracle that Cedarnose had survived this long, anyways. Then again, many had commented the same thing of his grandfather from what he could remember...Sometimes he wondered how the old man was doing.
~~~~~
The dappled tom didn't speak for the longest time, just grinned that signature wolfish grin of his paternal line's. Did everyone in that family have the ability to make the exact same facial expressions? Probably. Freaky, either way. "I am not lying, am I now?" Cedarnose's voice was dangerously soft. Perhaps he wasn't consistently as antagonistic as his father, but he could still certainly start things when he was in the mood to. "I think not~"

"Was I insinuating that I was? We all have our sins," he said cryptically, shrugging with one shoulder. "You did not need to have your name changed, if you are that bitter. You could very well have spoken up against it." Cedarnose blinked placidly. "At least you are still relatively whole. And at least you do not need to live pondering the possibility of sudden death every time you catch a cold or even get scraped up a little."
[ft. Lizardfang screaming internally in the background. And Cedar's actually pretty tall. Also, be right back, gotta go eat mother is screaming.
Also, he's a butt and I'm only somewhat sorry, I forgot why I loved Cedarnose's character.]

[And I'm back.]
"Still," he said. "I suspect you had more choice than you are willing to admit. But, that is just my opinion." And of course, Cedarnose was going to try his damnedest to continue, to prod the other until he snapped. That drive could prove a deadly one in certain situations, but if only his resolve was aimed at defense of the group and not merely just some self-centered purpose. He'd only gained a reputation for being lazy because he never saw reason enough to try, after all. There was rarely, if ever, anything in or about a situation that he'd find personally useful.
~~~~~
He didn't particularly like having to pick sides, nor did he like the notion of picking sides to begin with. Lizardfang had begun to disassociate a little, as he often did when having a panic attack, and was dimly aware of his own body's shaking if anything. "If I may," the chimera began, his voice sounding twisted and foreign in his own ears. "He has a point, Brokentalon; as much as you'll hate me for bringing this up. When I was nearly blinded years ago, they suggested a name change. I refused. And it isn't like a name's not reversible."
He just about doubled in size as his fur rises on end, he's fuming at this point, giving both of them looks. Brokentalon grunts as he pushes himself to his paws, doing a sort of hopping limp over to the entrance. "I'm done talking." He says flatly as he exits the den. It took a lot for Brokentalon to just leave, and while it was pretty childish of him to be acting this way, he really wasn't in the mood to deal with either of the toms.
Honeypaw has just emerged from the apprentices den, reminding herself that she shouldn't stay out so late because she ended up sleeping in later than she meant to. Taking note of all the cats still around, she spots Brokentalon sitting outside of the elders den and she tilts her head, curious as to what he's doing out. "Catching some fresh air?" She asks with a gentle smile.
Brokentalon glared daggers at Honeypaw, before realizing it was just the calico apprentice. He gives a heavy sigh and shakes his head, his expression softening a little. "Sure." He replies rather flatly.
Lizardfang just sighs softly, and glances in the direction of Cedarnose after Brokentalon had left. "Can't say I didn't try?" His tone was painfully awkward, and he soon quieted down again. The small tomcat curled into a ball, staring into the distance and shaking still. If there was one thing that everyone learned about Lizardfang should they bother to hang around him for long enough, it was that he did not like conflict.
~~~~~
Cedarnose made a 'tcch' noise in the back of his throat, narrowing his eyes at the retreating form of Brokentalon. "Cowardly much?" He just about purred to himself, the words barely audible. Well. That was enjoyable. What a pity that it hadn't lasted all that long, though. But, no matter. The tortoiseshell rolled onto his back, sighing contentedly. "And people call me immature." Maybe he'd leave as well. Partially for the purpose of messing with the other tom, but partially because he now had pressing matters to attend to. His train of thought was abruptly cut off at the sound of Honeypaw's voice filtering through the den's entrance.

The glare caught her by surprise, she knew the elder was grumpy but didn't know it was that bad. He usually was pretty nice to her. Honeypaw gives a gentle smile and sits in front of him. "How are you feeling? Do you need me to change your bedding?" She asked him, it looked like there was something more that was bothering him, but she didn't really want to bother him about it if he didn't want to talk about.
Brokentalon gave another sigh, licking the pads of his paw before running it over his ears. "Fine, I'm fine. That'd be nice though, if you did that." He muttered, looking tired rather than his usual scowl.
With that, Honeypaw nods and sort of races over to the medicine cats den where the moss is held. She looks for some of the softest clumps and then trots back over to the elders den, trying to smile at Brokentalon through her mouthful of moss. She goes into the den now and nods to the two others, making her way to Brokentalons nest and taking away some older pieces and replacing them with the new moss. When she's done she turns to Lizardfang and Cedernose. "Do you two want me to fix your nests as well?"

He nods in the direction of Lizardfang, who's still relatively unresponsive. The tomcat's just curled around himself, staring into space with glassy eyes. "It seems to me as though he is a bit busy. But, I would not mind." Getting to his feet again, Cedarnose maneuvered himself out of his nest, sitting down next to Lizardfang and murmuring something in the chimera's ears, too low for anyone but the intended recipient to hear.
