"Oh come now, Hannah, did you honestly expect a different reaction, hmmm? We talked about how you were suppose to approach this situation when it happened anyways, and this was far from the plan." He noted as he walked along side her. "Sure, you had the added variable of your dear brother showing up, but that shouldn't have changed your reaction to whole situation. I must say though...it was hilarious to see you slip for a moment. You had all the cards too! That, or Selena's poker face has gotten better over time." A small smile formed as he tapped his chin in thought. Biting her lip, she raised her gaze to meet his eyes. In a flash, she had embraced him in a tight hug, burying her face in his shoulder. "Y-You're here..." She muttered between sobs. I'm not alone...I have him...I don't need a sister who looks at me and sees nothing... After what seemed to be at least five minutes--give or take--she pulled away, sniffling and pushing tears away from her cheeks with her thumbs. "C-Can you drive? I know you said y-you don't like t-traffic but..." Misty

“I’m surprised she wasn’t angrier, that’s all.” After all, her sister and adoptive father had lied to her, and Selena thought highly of family. Well, maybe not anymore. Whatever. Hannah didn’t want a relationship with either of them. “As for my brother showing up... he wasn’t looking at me - us - the way she was. He didn’t know a damn thing, but she knew something was off, and she knew the damn quote would get me.” Hannah turned to look at Dasco. “What the hell are you scheming about?” “Yes, I’m here,” Lucas promised. During the embrace, he had periodically repeated those words to calm Selena. “Yeah, I can drive us back. I’ll even try be patient in traffic.” The key word was try, though Selena would likely be able to meet his extensive colorful vocabulary. (Sense of formality? Zero. Odds of getting a speeding ticket? 97%) featherleg

featherlegDamien gave his aunt and uncle a sheepish smile. Seeing their interest was perhaps fantastic, if not the greatest prize of any competition, especially coming from Urian; who was both amazing and intimidating at the same time. This certainly was the victory he wasn’t expecting, but certainly a motivating one. He nodded at the signs of luck, and tried to bring that same drive with him on the topic of his studies. His gaze glimpsing between the two, and occasionally at his siblings who for a moment, had almost not been there-given his excitement. Then there was his uncle Urian’s look-the look that was that of a director, or the science lab guys with the coats up to bizarre trouble. His eyes cautiously glimpsed towards his uncle then his defeated aunt, before looking back at his siblings who seemed grateful for being cast out of the spotlight. School was indeed tough, he was at the near end, and soon off to college-university, community? He wasn’t sure-he had just finished his first round of applications and now he was wondering and reconsidering his approach. School was stressful, and this year was just a year of misery. If it weren’t for his dad’s passion for Hockey, and his mother’s never quit speeches, he really would of easily without regret probably dropped hockey for the year. On the other hand, hearing Urian and Leila grow with excitement over hockey was another motivational ancher, and maybe another regret as to why he shouldn’t just outright quit hockey. He’ll survive, right? “T-Thank you!” He nodded in appreciation to the remarks. “I-I will certainly keep that in mind, Uncle.” He next turned to his aunt, “Just having your motivation is reassuring enough as well!” He continued turning his gaze back and forth between the two. “I’ll. Certainly reach out, and certainly push through.” He reassured, taking a bite of his food. It was the grandest moment, which made the food even more worth it. But also a blessing in disguise that the newcomer Rowlin had shifted the attention, which made his own food 10 times more worth enjoying without feeling like he was being stared at for eating. Rowlin’s soft gaze was very pleasant, he was relaxed though briefly surprised by the appearance of all the guests at the table. He nodded silently as he listened to Urían’s mention of studies. Still studying to the next dimension are we? Guess I am in no position to say much either. He was almost tempted to sit back on the chair , but kept an eager and straight posture. This conversation -conversations were really interesting. “Glad to hear things are going well in your studies Urían. Have you discovered the next noble prize?” He cheekily raised a curious brow. He had a low of fate in this man, always determined and always looking for the next level of higher thinking. It was about time someone tossed Urian a noble prize. He learned his head to the far right as Leila challenged back, assuring him that she was doing good-in the literal sense. “O-Oh?” He raised a brow intrigued by her immediate draw to the queastion. “Well that’s good to hear. I’m glad things are going well. Keep making the University a safer place.” He almost chuckled, but took in a brief spoon of the curry to try and make it seem like it was too hot. Yea, context clues now makes you part of the safety commitie. He wanted to chuckle so badly but instead swallowed it down with the curry, following a glass of water. Damien was enjoying his victory lap in the curry, listening to the other three talk. It was almost a question over how Rowlin spoke to Urian very casually-whereas he was intimidated to inititiate. However-it wasn’t him talking anymore and he won his aunt and uncle’s approval. Then he glimpsed over at Viola and Kai who were giving him looks. Instead he shoved the spoon into his plate of curry, nudged his head towards the food and took another bite full, basically telling his siblings to sit tight, enjoy to meal and listen to the adults talk about bizarre things. It also meant less attention on them and more food to enjoy. The further discussion of fate intrigued Rowlin, it was a funny thing- “Indeed.” He nodded in agreement. “Lady fate certainly has something in store, either that or we’re all walking down a fools path.” He considered now, his focus fighting between the food and the others. “But , let’s say fate it triggering our steps.” He glimpsed at Leila, “It doesn’t mean we can’t steer from her path. We certainly can with sheer power and determination to change the outcome.” His voice held motivation at that thought. Rowlin leaned slightly forward in intest towards Leila’s adventures, “E-Ehhh?” His eyes followed her movement across the dining room as she poured everyone’s drinks. “That does sound fantastic. Traveling while studying, learning while discovering. Things that certainly poke my interest.” He nodded slowly in agreeement. “Must be a ton of discoveries you’ve made since, or further enhanced.” He lightly added. Slowly turning towards Urian who mentioned lectures and seminars, it made Rowlin briefly blink in a rough maner. His fingers twitched, the kind of twitch when you have a pen at hand. “I see… hitting the books , and listening from those passing on knowledge.” His gaze was lost in the moment between these two. He was both imagining their explanations, but also reliving some experiences between the classroom as both a student and a mentor. “I don’t think you’ll have much to worry though. You have the first week to introduce yourself, and the remaining four to paint a picture.” He chuckled lightly. Then week 6 when students start barging into the office-my office-anyone’s office. Always right before midterms.. then they all disappear.” He briefly closed his eyes in thought.
“Glad you two have been having a good time. I just returned from the west- working on a small group preservation project, involving a family of ranchers that have a big impact on several modern day cities. It’s been an interesting time interviewing em, as well as further exploring how the family lived between the 1st and second depression. Truly a moment where these individuals were able to walk backwards during a time many were struggling.” His gaze briefly sharpened as though someone had tossed a piece of paper with all the notes before him, his eyes capturing the knowledge. “It was a fun project, and it was an interesting opportunity to invite students to and professors alike to take part in a community project. There was a ton of passion and pride between everyone involved, so it was certainly well earned.”
Derrick was deep in the moment, recalling the good times and enjoying just this moment; but also worried for his wife’s wellbeing. He was very into it, that hearing the footsteps of Aika and Celestia made him jump at the thought. He didn’t speak up, given his own spook and the lack of words, but something had clearly happened between the two that really chilled the atmosphere. His brows ruffled , as his dark gaze glimpsed between the two women. He still couldn’t find words, or was unsure how to access the situation. Finally when Aika spoke, his gaze turned with a nod, then turned to Celestia raiding his brow in confusion. He had no idea what or why, or when an apology was necessary, but it just happened between the two. “-W-What’s wrong?’ He leaned in on a rather distant Celestia. “O-Oh..” He added at the mention of the situation. “Well.. nothing grave right?” He asked tilting his head, while further lowering it to meet her gaze. “Oh, yea.. we can meet after dinner-“ He blinked, Did the wild family of raccoons bunk here? The news was warning of a raccoon outbreak.. She still didn’t seem satistfied, so in silence, he extended his arms, and pulled her in with a gentle hug. “Come on, let’s get some food.” He gently adviced her. “All long days deserve a good feast.” He wasn’t even going to give her a second to respond, he instantly shifted her off her feet, with a booming chuckle, as he started making his way for the living room. Granted, before they reached the end of the hall, he gently put her down, with a big smile extending his arm, as if inviting himself to chaperone her to the table.

Rosestar Noting the upstairs layout as James guided her to the guest room, she stepped into the space and marveled at the décor of the room. It was warm and inviting, and seemed tucked away enough that the sound from 'Lily's Space' wouldn't be an issue. "Alright, just let me know." After being acquainted with the space, Aika was able to get a set of clothes for the night from Nariko before deciding it retire back to the guest room. Closing the door behind her, she quickly changed into the dark blue pj set, which consisted of shorts, a tank top, and hoodie that was surprisingly soft. One of the side tables next to the bed had a stack of books set on it that seemed untouched. Aika spent some time going through the small stack before settling on an older mystery novel called "The Moonstone" by Wilkie Collins. With the sound of the rain outside and her phone playing a premade playlist of piano music, a wave of calm and comfort finally came as she settled on top of the bed. As she started reading the novel, she couldn't help but think back to what Dalton had said to her before dinner. "We're not out of time yet, you know, Aika."She leaned back against the pillows behind her as her eyes closed. If only he knew the impact of those words. How much they hurt to hear coming from him. Time certainly had not been kind to either of them. It drove them apart. Created this distance that she didn't know how to bridge. He was there and yet so far out of reach from her. And the lies. They kept piling up, day by day, threatening to swallow her. But...she made a promise. A promise to see this through, to be there as much as she could for him. She just had to hold on for a bit longer. Dalton found himself fidgeting on the couch. He had texted Zeus a warning that he wouldn't be home until tomorrow, like a good younger brother should, when staring at his brother's number in his phone he realized that he still hadn't asked Aika how she got that phone number. The more he thought about it, the more it bothered him- not for any real reason. He knew she probably found it just from digging on the internet, but between the weird hallucinations his friend featured in and the fact that she was just upstairs, both of them stuck in a place that wasn't theirs... let's just say Dalton was getting twitchy.
He hadn't changed into pajamas yet, he was sure that wasn't helping his cause. James had lent him a few spares, and now was doing cleanup in the kitchen with his sister. Dalton wasn't sure where Nariko was, but it couldn't be far. Honestly, it was a good a time to ask her as any. He just hoped it wouldn't feel like he was cornering her. Surely there had to be a right way to ask?
The longer Dalton contemplated it, the later it was getting, and the more likely it would be that Aika would be trying to sleep. Without thinking too hard about it, Dalton quietly headed up to the guest room and knocked on the door.

MistyDasco couldn’t help but chuckle at her comments on Selena. “I think now you can understand why she was my right hand for decades.” He took a few steps forward as he mulled over her question prior to glancing over his shoulder with a smirk. “If I told you now, it would diminish the effect. Besides, I thought those two meant nothing to you. Ergo, what I may be scheming is precisely that, nothing at all.” With that, he continued upwards towards the third floor. “Now, if you don’t mind, I have to go over the list of potential songs to be played during this year's dance.” “T-Thanks.” Reaching into her purse, she handed him the keys to her car, then hugged him again, this time in a lighter fashion. “I’m repeating myself, but thank you for being here with me. It means more than you know.” She took a step back, her demeanor slowly returning back to normal, though her face was a bit red. “Do you want to go get coffee once we’re out of here?”

Rosestar Settling on her reasons for the time being, Aika attempted to start reading the book again but jumped at the sudden knock at the door. “O-One moment!” Putting the book back on the nightstand with her phone, which she fumbled with in trying to pause her music, She glanced at her reflection in one of the windows, straightening her hair for no reason by sides the sudden feeling of nervousness creeping up her back. It could just be James making the rounds, telling everyone good night, or it’s him and Dalton and they want to watch a movie and they would feel bad leaving you out. It should be fine. Taking a deep breath in, she closed the gap between the bed and the door, opening the door half way as she peered out to have her gaze meet Daltons. Or it’s none of the above. “H-Hey...did you need something?” Any previous thoughts she had had up to this point were gone, leaving her in slight confusion as well as curiosity. (going to be working on my reply to Auransky throughout the day since it's going to be longer ^^; )

AuranskyUrian shook his head as he rubbed the back of his neck. As committed and dedicated as he was to his studies, he was still a humble person. He knew many people within his respective field that had egos beyond what he considered healthy, and tried his best to steer clear of such behaviors. “That’s a kind notion of you, Rowlin, but I have yet to do so. If I am ever graced with such an honor, however, I will let you know as soon as I can.” Leila laughed at the idea of her actions being under the category of safe. Anyone who had been around her long enough knew she could not sit still. There always had to be something to do, something grander, more reckless, than whatever she was currently doing. In her terms, engaging and exciting. In Urians, dangerous and foolish. “I’ll make sure to do so.” She could practically sense her brother rolling his eyes at her. Seeing their brothers' wordless recommendation, Viola and Kai exchanged a nod before refilling their bowls again, albeit a smaller portion than what they had had previously. They seemed content with having the focus of the dining room table discussion away from them for once. Kai secretly hoped that once his parents and his other aunt joined them, it would stay that way. Viola mainly was enjoying the fact that she got to sit next to her favorite aunt in the whole world. If she was lucky, her other aunt would also sit next to her. The twins seemed to have taken a moment of pause as they thought of their friends' words. “Your words remind me of how sis thinks. Taking in the limitations but also looking for the angles and openings to push past them.” Leila said in a moment of pride that Urian acknowledged with a knowing smile. They both had the utmost respect for their older sister. She had done so much for them through her dual lifetimes. Always checking in on them and welcoming them into her home, making sure they had a safe space to retreat to when necessary. Truthfully, they had lucked out in the sibling lottery. As Leila took her seat once more next to Rowlin, a far off, distant look donned her face before she turned towards him. “I don’t have it with me, but!, I did make a scrapbook of sorts to document my journey. I’d love to show it to you sometime.” The main reason why she didn’t just carry the thing around was due to several enchantments she had placed in the pages of her journal. Most of them were illusionary and for show, but they helped document important details like the change of color on certain plants and rock when interacted with different sects of magic, or the noises made by things like sprites. Urian nodded along as Rowlin commented on his current focus. The two had shared similar interests in magic and the lore behind it in the past as well as the application of it. While they couldn’t speak of such things at the moment, there was a shared understanding when it came to the two pursuits that words weren’t always necessary to express their passions. “Hopefully your words will ring true once my expedition begins.” He was confident in his own abilities, after spending a majority of his human life getting the basics down and the rest of his current mastering them. That root of confidence had greatly helped him when it came to the social aspects of his life, as his older sister often reminded him that to be confident in one’s core would only lead to such a boon strengthening the rest of his senses. The comparison to ‘being like a tree’ had always made them laugh in embarrassment, but the sentiment held true. As Rowlin recounted his tale to the two, giving them a chance to truly enjoy the meal that their brother-in-law had made for them, their eyes lit up with interest. Every time Rowlin appeared in their lives, there was, without fail, a story just waiting to be told. It was like having a constant ace up your sleeve. “That sounds amazing Rowlin! If you have any documentation of this trip, we’d both like to see it.” Urian expressed as he folded his arms atop the dining room table, leaning forward with interest as he glanced at Leila to see her mimicking him, a knack the twins had shared for far too long than they were willing to admit. Wordlessly, Aika had entered the room and waved at everyone. “Sorry for making you all wait. Your parents will be joining us shortly. There was a scheduling error with your mothers school, so they’re just going over it really quick.” She mainly addressed Damien as she took a seat next to Viola, which seemed to excite the little girl as she beamed up at her aunt. Looking down, she exchanged the expression before beginning to fill her plate. “It really is great to finally be back here though and have this meal with you all.” While she wanted to share exactly what happened upstairs to Derrick, Celestia knew it would only cause him to panic and go into what she dubbed “Guardian Mode”. It didn’t happen as often now, but back when it was just them and Damien, he would go above and beyond to make sure his son was protected from the world around him. It was endearing, but at times a bit much for the boy. At the sudden lift of her body off the ground, she snapped out of her memories and looked up at her husband with disbelief. “D-Derrick! What are you--” Sighing to herself, she gave in, allowing him to carry her down the hall as she couldn’t help but laugh along with him. How he was always able to cheer her up was a mystery to her, even to this day. Once he had set her back down, she smiled softly back in kind. Her arm wrapped around his as she reached up and gave him a kiss on his cheek. “Thank you, darling.” She whispered before the two entered the dining room, giving their greetings and soft apologies for being a tad late to dinner while taking their seats at each end of the table.

(going to be working on my reply to Auransky throughout the day since it's going to be longer ^^; ) "Just a question. If you're not busy, I mean." he said, not as confidentially as he had hoped. He took a moment to smooth out his button-up, slightly wrinkly from the day. His tied was undone, but that wasn't unusual. It was the picture of a causal night in. Why did James have to be continuing chores and the like? Lily must have some good movie recommendations that could be used to distract them all. Instead, Dalton was starting an interrogation of sorts. Why did it matter that Aika somehow knew Zeus? If anything, the answer was most likely simple, and they had gone on some kind of date. Zeus didn't seem like Aika's type, but who was he to judge? His brother was quite charming. "I was just curious; were you the one who called my brother, recently? When I was so out of sorts, I mean."

“Then you should be proud of her poker face, Sir. She’s learned a lot from you.” Hannah nodded once. Her siblings didn’t mean anything to her. She wasn’t working for Dasco because of Selena. She had her own motives “Very well. I shall leave you to that.” She headed toward her office to continue her work. Lucas took the keys from Selena. “You’re welcome. I’m really glad we were able to reconnect.” They had once been close. He wanted to become close with her again. “I still do, if that’s okay with you.” He smiled after her as they approached her car. featherleg

"Oh, sure. What's on your mind?" Moving back, she opened the door to let him enter the space of the guest room. Perhaps he wanted to go over the specifics of their next mission, or plan out when she would play for him next. They hadn't decided on the details of that yet anyways. The question was anything but any of her assumptions. She blinked a few times, becoming slightly flustered in the moment as she held her hands together in front of her. I should have known that call would backfire in some way."Y-Yeah, that was me." It was the simple truth. While she did have his mothers number as well and had considered using, she thought it would be better if she called Zeus instead. They hadn't met in person over the course of her working in the VDA, but she had done enough research on him to know that he was well aware of his deceased fathers occupation, and therefore Dalton's. On paper, it was the most sound proof plan at the time to get Dalton to rest while avoiding suspicion from him or his family members. There was, of course, one small error she made. The fact that Zeus probably told him sparse details of who called him, and Dalton being conscious enough to piece together the puzzle. Rosestar

Misty"Yeah, it's okay with me." She conjured up a smile as best she could as they got into her car. Once he had gotten situated with the drivers seat, Selena took out her phone and started up one of her favorite albums to listen to while driving by the coast, Bon Iver, Bon Iver. It also was her go to album to sing to when she felt down. As Lucas backed out of the parking space and they started the drive back to the city, Selena drummed along to the beat of the songs with her fingers against her leg, singing the lyrics softly, not really caring if her brother heard.

The fact that Zeus probably told him sparse details of who called him, and Dalton being conscious enough to piece together the puzzle. Rosestar Dalton was a bit surprised at being invited into the room, as Aika had always been a private person, though he supposed that this wasn't her space. If anything, it was more neutral ground. They were still in the North house, and James was just downstairs. He noted the room- the walls had been repainted recently. It had been a maroon last Dalton had seen it. It seemed that Aika had settled in well. With the books on the table and her now dressed casually, it seemed like she belonged there. He hid a wince as he thought about interrupting her quiet night in.
When she gave her answer, he simply nodded. "I thought so. He said it was a woman who called him, and I made some assumptions." Case solved. Way to go Mr. Detective. Now what? What was the point of all this? What was really bothering him? The fact that he was seeing Aika in some sort of visions of his childhood, and then she suddenly was able to contact his brother? What did it mean? What was he missing? He swallowed his rising panic and said, "I was only curious how you got his number. I'm not in much contact with my family, so it was a bit of surprise."

Assumptions? Her eyes narrowed as the gears in her head started turning. What possible situation could Dalton conjure up in his head to make him as nervous and fidgety as he was now? It had to do with Zeus. Wait. Zeus. Oh no. The conversations she had had with Naomi and more so James came in mind. How Dalton took after his older brothers ideology when it came to romance. How he was a charmer among many other titles that she wasn't going to recite. The assumption was clear, he just didn't want to say it. "Can I explain, please?" A look of guilt crossed her face, realizing only now that she may have broken his personal boundaries in regards to his family. "When I made that call, it was the first time I had ever come into contact with your brother. As your secretary, it's my job to have a list of emergency contacts at hand for not only you, but everyone in our team. Yours are your mother and Zeus. I....I made a judgement call, alright? Maybe it was a mistake, but you weren't listening to us, Dalton. I had to do something, anything, to get you to rest. So...," Her gaze dropped from his as her shoulders slumped, "..I'm sorry if I overstepped my bounds with calling him out of the blue like that. It won't happen again." Rosestar

A few times. He was waiting for some understanding to come over him. In the meantime, Aika seemed to be getting more and more distressed, which only served to confused him more. It made sense that she had those contacts. Hadn't Dalton even considered that the nature of her job was a possibility of why? For a moment, it felt like he was flung back to square one- he hadn't thought before his actions, and he had hurt one of his teammates again. He would have to get a hold of himself.
He took a deep breath and realized she was still talking, the desperation clear in her voice. Dalton froze again, wondering if his actions earlier than week had been that extreme. He almost couldn't recall it. He wasn't resting, yes, but aside from jumping the gun on coming into the office a few times, he didn't see anything exactly wrong about it. Or was his point of view so warped that he couldn't judge his own actions anymore? Focus. This was no time to go off on one of his own little spirals. He had a teammate here who needed assurance. "Hey, it's not about that. You did what you had to do." he said, putting his hands on her shoulders, trying to get her to look at him again. "You didn't overstep anything. I just... wanted to know." his voice softened. "It's been a weird week."

During her explanation, she hadn't been focusing on him as much as she was attempting to get her facts in order. Organized. Precise. That was she was known for, and yet her voice shook with a feeling she couldn't not get rid of; doubt, uneasiness, distress. It was the side of her she wanted to keep locked away. It reminded her of how weak she was. Not just in this moment, but in instances in the past were she wasn't good enough, not fast enough, not strong enough. Just...never enough. The moment he placed his hands on her shoulders, another wall broke. Her eyes snapped back to his, her body frozen under his grip. Had he had been this close to her this whole time? She wasn't sure. His hands felt comforting, reassuring. They were a step away from an embrace, from her reaching out and taking his glasses one more time. S-Stop it! He doesn't remember!! Taking a deep breath in, she nodded, trying to compose herself but to no avail. "So....we're okay then?" She asked quietly as she stared up at him, finding that she was beginning to get lost his gaze. Rosestar

featherlegRowlin had a cheerful chuckle, at Urian’s reaction, it was also noted that Damien was also baffled in the corner of his eye, given the cool mysterious character was breaking character. That’s good to hear, Urian… you’re still pushing for full Merritt and it looks like a fan of yours may pursuit in your footsteps.“Aye, both of you keep me posted on your endeavors. I do check my emails frequently, so feel free to spam with stuff or just random stuff too.” Because my email box isn’t already spammed enough with questions… Rowlin was tempted to twitch an eye, but he refrained from doing so. Damien continued enjoying the meal, it was like a theater show, where they eat and the others perform. Hopefully when his parents came back with aunt aika , the show would continue and they could just sit back and not focus on being well-perfect(ish). “Oh?” Rowlin raised a brow of interest. “I guess, you could say we’ve studied the same philosophies at one point.” He waved his left index finger as though he were tapping a button on a keyboard, it had no real meaning, just a gesture at this point. I mean… we have…. “Can’t let life hold ya back. Just gotta push forward and find another way , even when everything seems stacked against ya.” He slowly nodded at the thought, this was what he thought at least-and something Celestia also strongly believed in-or was it after a certain point that she came to terms with such an idea? hmmm..He nodded after Leila reseated herself, and the excitement busted from the young women, “I see, I see..” He felt just as excited for her excitement. “I certainly would love to see that when we get the chance. We certainly will have to meet up to examine these discoveries of yours.” He lightly rested his elbow on the edge of the table, to rest his head against his palm. Hearing the excitement was making him more excited by the minute, it was like being in school all over again-oh wait- “Oh.. come on Urian.” He pressed on with excitement, “I know it’ll be true. You’ll be fine, and your professors will enjoy your insight and excitement. You’ve reached the point where you are studying alongside those who want to be there, learning the same as you, and aching for new perspectives to help shape their current ones.” Rowlin’s green gaze was illuminating in excitement, the recollections of discovery, and passion, what a grand blend for adventure. Hearing Urian laugh in emberrisment made Damien’s eyes lit up. It was like a gotcha moment, an unexpected one, the man who was intimidating, cool and helpful had broken character , AGAIN. W-W-W-Wha?! I gotta tell my friends about this discovery!?{/i] The teen was still in silence, taking mental notes as the conversation proceeded between the three.
Rowlin smiled taking a smaller bite of the curry now, hearing the twins excitement-well feel it, they were bursting with excitement and it was obvious. “Hahaha…” Rowlin leaned back on the chair, just hearing their interest was gratifying for him. He had to lean his head back for a brief moment, and force his jaw back to prevent himself from laughing further. It was just an enjoyable meal, and yet certainly one to remember. “Y-Yes… I do have documents, files pictures and video from this project!” He happily shared with the twins. “While I don’t have the original primary sources, we have digitilized the sources to make available to the public via their online museum. I do also have copies of the video interviews conducted, as well as videos that were taken during the progress of the project coming to life both on and off site. It was a great time, and I really do miss the team. Of course, I did bring some souvenirs, since we’re also working on bringing to life the project for schools to experience first hand via 3D printing..” Everything was great it was a dinner to remember- and yet the footsteps of an approaching player brought the dinner table to a standstill.
His gaze turned to spot Aika, approaching in silence, she seemed defeated-as though she had a long day? Something else…. Though time has changed, one thing hasn’t and that was Aika’s expression. He nodded in respect and appreciation to her notice before returning to glimpse at the kids, then exchange a look at the twins with a raised brow.
Damien was really enjoying the talk. So many new places and things he had read or seen online- and now these people have experienced it first hand. Then there was his excited little sister at the site of aunt Aika, and yet it killed the mood. How do you excite someone and kill the table? He was so confused, but he snapped out of it, as his aunt was mostly directed to him on the update of where their parents were. “Y-Yes… thank you..” He nodded, then proceeded to take a sip of his drink. School? This late? He would of raised a brow of suspicion, but he decided to entally note it. He’d talk to his hockey team about it later-more specifically the Secret mystery club of embra that the hockey team started.
Derrick smiled nodding his head as Celestia had called out against his actions. This was something he wasn’t going to sit by and let her ruin her own night. Tonight was smile night, and if she wasn’t smiling, then it wasn’t smiling night. She wasn’t initially talking , but her calling out against him lifting her, was progress enough. His eyes looking at her, locked on her ever changing expression, it was great.
Then she laughed with him, it made his furry brows rise and his gaze widened. He won the night-he won smiles night, and she was laughing with him. I win you blasted raccoons! He beamed carrying her high, initially before putting her down.
When she accepted his gesture he smiled with a nod, “Any time cupcake.” He beamed , this night was a good night-despite the bad stuff, despite the odds. This moment, even if only for a moment, would be the best moment to remember, at least until he found a better way to top it.
Upon reaching the table he too greeted alongside her, and had taken his seat, just as she at the other end of the table. He did wait however, for her to take her seat first before taking his own seat. Seeing the table was beaming with food and people eating he smiled, “I hope the food is well. We took everyone’s requests and interests into mind to make it an unforgettable luncheon.” Maybe luncheon wasn’t the word to describe this dinner, but tin that moment he couldn’t help but quote principal skinner from the steamed clams episode.

Rosestar Dalton looked down towards her with an almost studious gaze. Not cold. Not judgemental. Just open and curious. As he watched the girl in front of him freeze up, he had to wonder if he was the one who crossed a line this time. But instead of pulling away immediately and apologizing, he found himself staying where he was, if only to find out what exactly was the reason for her hesitation. Personal space? Or maybe she just had a problem with him? It wouldn't be that out of the question. "As long as you're okay."
It seemed like there was something else on her mind, but Dalton couldn't make her say. She had to be ready to meet him halfway there. So he stood there, frozen in time, squeezing her shoulders slightly. Waiting.

If her heart could beat, she could have sworn it seized. She recognized, no, she knew that look in his eyes. They'd exchanged this instance in the past countless times. One of them waiting for the other, ready to hear what troubled them. He was bridging the gap for her. So she jumped. "I'm not." Shaking her head, that sadness that lurked in her eyes earlier surfaced in her voice as her hands held on to the top of his. "Ever since the incident you had at the Swan's Fountain, I've felt useless. I keep trying to find solutions for what's happening to you and I keep ending up short handed. It feels like no matter how much research I do or how many theories I go over with James, they won't surmount to an answer. The confusion and the pain you've been going through? I can hear it in your voice and see it in your eyes and yet I don't know where to start to take it away." Her hands tightened on top of his as tears began to cluster in the corners of her eyes. "I don't want to lose you to this, Dalton!" Rosestar

"I don't want to lose you to this, Dalton!" Rosestar Aika's hands were surprisingly cold.
That was the feeling that kept him anchored to the scene. Otherwise, it couldn't have been real. Aika opening up like this. Shedding tears over him. Not being able to help him. No wonder she's been acting so worried. Still, it begged the question; when exactly had she started feeling this protective over him? They had been on the same team for a handful of years now, and while he would consider himself fond of her... she had just never displayed her emotions like this before. Not to any of them, as far as he was aware. Or maybe he was just the last one to know.
Or maybe, the most easy to lose. Dalton didn't know when she got so good at reading him either. When she was noticing his distress. It wasn't that hard to tell, but the way she said it made it sound so personal to her.
Without thinking about it, he pulled her into an embrace. All over, she was cold, and tense from holding everything in for so long. "It's not your fault, Aika." he finally said. His head was craned down into her shoulders, so she could surely hear him no matter how soft his voice had become. That much, that she wasn't to blame for whatever was happening, was all he could surely promise. Whatever had happened to him, it seemed like it was more than even he was aware of, if it had prompted this much research from her and James both. Tell me Aika, will I dream of this moment too, later?

Everything about him was warm. Any previous notions of hesitation were gone as she gave into his embrace, her hands curling into the back of his shirt as she cried into his chest. She felt safe. Protected. All the tension and pressure she had weighing on her finally was breaking away, like a chisel to marble. When was the last time she had been held in such a way so genuinely? Whatever the answer was before, this replaced it easily. The way he held her and spoke softly to her. The faint smell of cologne that lingered on his clothing. It was a blanket of warmth she had been missing for years. Then she heard his heart beating. Just as soft as his voice, it was pure music to her ears. And yet...there was no drive to run away. No sudden urge to feed. So she listened to the beat. Repeated his words in her head. Breathed in and out to the rhythm resonating from his chest. She nodded to him as her cries softened, though she stayed nestled within his embrace, showing no sign of letting go. Rosestar

Thunder rumbled, low and lazy around them. Dalton found himself, eyes closed, leaning into Aika. He had many questions. But for now, they would wait. His mind was focused into Aika's breathing. Unsteadily at first with each sob, then growing calmer, still shaky, but muffled. Briefly, he thought of limbs tangling together, melting into each other's embrace. To the outsider, there was the slightest hint of a smile on Dalton's face. Quietly, he began to hum. Mostly to himself, but also to comfort her. He wasn't fully aware of what tune. Whatever was swirling around in his head. Anything to make the moment just a little bit easier, for both of them.

She wasn't aware of the humming at first as she was coming up for air from the tears, the weight she was letting go. However, once Aika had heard a song, it was hard for her to forget it. Especially the ones he had request, both in recent times and in their past. For the first few second's, she just listened to his humming and the rain that fell around them. Then her voice, soft and airy, began to sing along with him.
"I could even learn how to love When I see the way you act Wondering when I'm coming back, I could do about anything I could even learn how to love Like you"
(song is Love like You by Rebecca Sugar from Steven Universe. citing the source just in case ^^ small edit: I'm pretty sure Aika would be a soprano voice wise since that fits into the description mentioned here)

His voice, a solid tenor, faltered for a moment. But this was a moment to support. He continued to provide herself an instrumental of sorts, taking care of what would have been the piano's line of the song. A normal memory surfaced in his mind from a few days ago when she played it for him. It was a short song. Soon, it was the sound of rain falling again. There were many things Dalton could be asking, particularly when she had gotten comfortable enough around him to sing a love song (not necessarily a romantic love, depending on the interpretation), but he recognized the soft mood of the air, as she was still coming down from her emotional high. "I didn't know you sang. It shouldn't surprise me," he finally murmured.

As she sang and he hummed the music to her, one of her hands unraveled enough from his shirt to lightly move against his back, mimicking the motion of playing the notes as they went along. Once the song had finished, it gripped back onto the fabric, though not as tight as before. Aika giggled at his comment as she smiled into his shirt. "Well, to be fair, you never asked." Her voice sounded calmer than it was when she had her outburst. Heck, it sounded more relaxed and natural than it had in the past few years of them working together. "What would surprise you, though?" Rosestar

Once they were off the Court grounds, Lucas gunned it, flying past slower traffic whenever he could. He didn’t say anything for a while, letting Selena sing in the silence. “Thank you for helping me get properly registered,” he finally said. featherleg(AHHH sorry it’s so short!)

He never was the person to have problems with physical space, and this was certainly not the first time he had been in an extended embrace with someone else. The hesitation was that he never would have expected these sorts of reactions from Aika. It felt like such a private moment that he wasn't allowed to be witnessing. He wasn't sure if Aika had chosen him for this moment, or maybe she had been holding it all back for so long and he was the first one of them to really poke at the gaps between them.
"I'm not sure." he admitted after a moment of thinking. "You don't talk much about yourself, so in a way, nothing should surprise me. I take you as you are."

AuranskyAt the mention of being able to spam Rowlin as much as they pleased, Leila’s eyes sparkled with ideas and schemes. I hope you’re ready for an onslaught of memes from my sister, Rowlin. Urian thought as he chose to ignore his sister's strategy of possibly crashing Rowlin’s email. Both siblings recalled in their own ways, mentally of course, the years that Celestia had been the lads teacher as well as their own. While they did not share the same path when it came to their natures per say, the three of them learned important lessons from her about a variety of subjects. Having Rowlin around helped the twins immensely as well. When they had first met Derrick, they were shy and would often hide themselves away after reporting to him, but after a few conversations with their fellow student, Urian and Leila started following him around just as often as they did with their sister. It was a fond memory for the two, to be accepted and understood by someone who saw their line of thinking and didn’t belittle them despite their age. “Well, feel free to stop by my dorm anytime! Although, you should probably let me know in advance so I can ring you in. I’ve had a few ‘incidents’ with my RA, and I’m trying to get back on her good side.” A majority of said incidents were experiments going wrong that should have been done at the campus’s on site lab, but Leila was impatient and wanted results before sunrise, even if the results were in fact her failing her incantations. Rowlin’s sudden encouragement caught Urian by surprise as he sat his glass down. His gaze turned downwards in thought as he leaned his chin into his palm, his arm resting against the table. “You’re not wrong there by means. I suppose it’s just my nerves getting to me, is all.” He admitted with a light shrug. “My brother? Getting nervous?! That sounds impossible. Unless…there’s someone on the trip you fancy and want to impress?” The two went back to their old habits of Urian protesting his sister's ideas while Leila stayed convinced she was right and he just didn’t want to admit it to be true. However, after Urian pulled a card out of his sleeve, daring to mention to their older sister the recent trouble Leila had gotten into within her first week of being home, Leila gave up on trying to pester him for more information. Urian was thankful for the conversation swaying back towards Rowlins expedition. It gave him enough time to recompose himself and eat, while his sister started running into dead ends of whatever mind maze she was in in attempting to bring the conversation back to the potential of Urian having a crush on someone. As they both refocused their attention to him, they agreed on taking a look at the online museum to see his work. Aika nodded politely back towards Rowlin and exchanged a similar smile that she had given towards Viola to the twins, who seemed delighted to see her. As Celestia and Derrick took their seats, Leila and Urian’s attention switched over to their brother-in-law. “The food is amazing as always, Derrick. I wish the food on campus was as good as yours.” Leila pouted as she thought back to the meals they had. While they did have a good variety to choose from, the sense of love and thought put into said meal was certainly lacking. “I don’t think the food on campus will ever reach the levels of excellence you provide to us, Derrick.” Urian said as he took a sip from his drink.

MistySelena thought about commenting on his driving speed, but she shook the thought away as she continued her on own mini concert, her gaze focusing on the coastline as they drove home. She jumped at his spoke up finally as the album ended, nodding as she went through her music albums to find something he would possibly like to listen to. "Of course. Anything I can do to help." While their trip to the Court hadn't gone as smoothly as she would have liked considering how they stormed out, she was glad they were able to get it out of the way.

RosestarHis last comment caught her by surprise. Would you still accept me if you knew what I was, truly? As if not to disturb the balance of the moment, she let out a sigh. Dalton was right though. These past years of being part of his team, she had kept her distance from all of them, especially him. And now, it felt as though all the reasons she had been telling herself as to why she should keep such a barrier between them weren’t valid. She was done letting time slip by her. Slowly, she pulled herself back from his chest, just enough to catch his gaze once more while remaining in his embrace. Her gaze became warm and inviting as she smiled up at him. A smile that wasn’t curt or cordial, but radiating with affection and care. “Let me remedy that then. What would you like to know?”

A smile that wasn’t curt or cordial, but radiating with affection and care. “Let me remedy that then. What would you like to know?” Perhaps there was still some surprises yet to be discovered. When Aika began to pull away, Dalton assumed that was the end of the moment. That she would excuse herself for the outburst and wish him good night. Instead, she stayed in his arms and smiled at him. This was an entirely different side of Aika. Her smile seemed so much like the one her younger self wore, in the happy images he witnessed. He wondered how he looked to her, right now. Which side of Dalton was she seeing? A boss? A friend? Someone to pity?
Of course, none of those answers accounted for how happy she looked and how close they were still standing together. "I suppose I am curious when you started having such a strong reaction to me in particular." He bit back a sly remark about her taste in men. After all, he didn't want to assume the emotions were stemming from some sort of secret crush. Maybe she had a secret brother he reminded her of, or something. Or maybe this was just more of the side Aika didn't show- the side who got easily attached and feared it.
