At long last, James finally left the kitchen. Unfortunately for him, he forgot he was still wearing his apron. Dark blue with gold plaid patterns. Not exactly undignified, but certainly not a sight Aika would be used to seeing. He greeted her, then quickly made a face, untying the strings and throwing the spotless garment at Dalton to put away. "Good to see you. Please, let me show you around." He wouldn't admit to being embarrassed about his first impression of him in his own home.
"Obviously, the kitchen is this way," he gestured to the way he came. "It's more of the fanicer room of the house, my parents are both chefs." The dining room, off the the right of the parlour, was about in an equal state, with a large mahogany table and white marbled trim. Besides the matching chairs to the table, there were a few velvet loveseats towards the back corner sat against a large window. Compared to it, the parlour and its hardwood floors were nice, but simple. The first floor bathroom was a small door to the back right of the parlour, and beyond it, the living room. The view of it was blocked by the main stair case. "Upstairs are the bedrooms, and uh, one of Lily's studies." James frowned, trying to pick a good word for it. "She has a workshop in the basement as well, for her mechanics, but she also dapples in technology, PC building and stuff. Lots of wires. You know." he said awakwardly. Somewhere behind the little tour, a younger sister was giggling again.

Aika couldn't help but laugh at the sight of James wearing the apron out to greet them. "Evening Chef North. Feel free to lead on." Of course James would be kind enough to show her around, it only made sense. Her gaze followed his directions as she took in the family home. "I look forward to using the kitchen then. I brought my finest blend to meet your request." The glimpse of the kitchen she was able to get made her eyes widened. If anyone saw her reaction to the room, they could have sworn they saw a sparkling in her eye. His parents have a good taste when it comes to interior design, I'll give them that. At the mention of the upstairs and the various rooms Lily had, she could only reflect and understand the small dilemma of having a younger sister, considering she was one. "I'm sure she could give me a tour of said spaces on her own accord. I'd be interested to see what type of PC build she has." The was a reason why she was the secretary of their team. Not just because of her extensive knowledge on vampires and magic, but also her prowess when it came to skills like hacking, coding, decoding, etc. Rosestar

Lucas took a seat in the armchair farther from the door, watching the other two as they conversed. “A pleasure to meet you too.” He took Clive’s hand and shook it. “I’m afraid I was never properly registered within the Court’s records.” Despite having once married another vampire and registering the marriage as well as his wife’s death, Lucas’ own records had been incomplete - until today. “Though I’m not ‘Sir’ is necessary.” He hesitantly looked at Selena. He understood why she had a title, but was he really deserving of one? Or was it simply a formality given to everyone? featherleg

James smiled. "After dinner though, I'm sure you're hungry. Was it a long drive?" He began guiding her back to the kitchen. Not that she wasn't allowed to wander, but he still had cooking to do. He had wanted to whip up a few sides, but hadn't quite decided which yet. "Do you want to put some tea on? Or at least put the tea set away?"

"I see." Clive nodded as he sat back down, releasing his grip from Lucas. A look of confusion crossed his face as Selena waved her hand in dismal. "You'll have to tell that to everyone you interacting with in the future, Lucas. Since you're my brother, any employee that works here with refer to you as such. Don't worry too much about it, alright?" Her gaze turned from Lucas to Clive. "If it's alright with you, I'll be handling the matter of his generation." She opened her leather purse and handed him a file. "That file was approved by Volkov herself so it should be above code." Clive nodded as he skimmed over the file and the papers within it. "Excellently organized, as always. Yes, this should do." He turned his attention back over to Lucas as he grabbed a new file from his desk draw and a pen. "I'm certain there is information on your family and self in there as well, but is there anything specific you'd like updated for your file?" Misty--------- "Right, of course." She nodded in agreement as they made their way to the kitchen. "It wasn't too bad, honestly. I...think I needed it. I don't leave Embra itself too often unless my uncle or aunt call me to help them with errands, which is rare nowadays." It felt odd to speak about family as she often kept such matters private, but it felt only right to open up a little bit about it...even though it was a lie. "Oh! If you don't mind I'd like to start brewing it now. The set is brand new and I was hoping for an occasion like this to see how it does." Rosestar

"Please do." There was a small electric kettle on one of the counters. Apparently, Dalton had filled it earlier, but not turned it on- something about not knowing what temperature it should be set to. Aika and James began working quietly in the kitchen, each doing their respective tasks, while Dalton began to set the table in the dining room, against James' protests. It was his responsibity. But... It was nice to get him out of the room for a moment. Dalton was back to normal. And James was too suspicious to believe it. Musing, he began to gather ingredients to make some simple spring rolls. He rolled out the light roll, watching Aika arrange her tea set. A few lose strands of hair fell into his gaze as he shook his head, trying to collect himself. "Did you happen to find anything in your research about the thing I mentioned recently?" he asked softly, begining to chop. "You don't have to answer me now. I just wanted to check, since we had a moment."

As the two got to work--James with dinner and Aika with the tea--she took a second to just enjoy how normal this all felt. Friends, getting together, having dinner, maybe watching a movie or playing board games afterwards. They had all been so busy with work and the complications with it that doing anything remotely this calm was out of the picture. Yet, here they were. Breaking out of her daydream, she looked up from the white and gold marble tea set she had brought to look over at James, her brows raising before she shook her head. "Nothing substantial yet. There's a lot of folklore and myths about the subject. In order to determine if that is in fact the item in question, I would have to find an article speaking of it in a physical or material manner. Many authors who wrote about tethers embellished them with details that are...hypothetical, at best. However...there is a theory we could test, but it would be best not to do it here." As much as she wanted to see the key in question, whatever examination that they wanted to perform on it needed to be done in a secure and safe location. Rosestar

"Sorry, I'm sure this wasn't-" At this point, there was a faraway crash in the dining room. From upstairs, Lily yelled, "It wasn't me!!" From the dining room, Dalton annoucning, "It's okay, nothing broke!" James muttered something under his breath, and grabbed a dish cloth to wipe his hands. "Are you hurt, Dalton?" A mop of frizzy black hair poked into the entry way. "Fine, just stubbed my toe." Dalton swept into the room, returning to his seat from before, and James watched as he blinked a few times. There was a faraway look in his eyes again. Maybe something happened again.... He would bring up testing again later. Maybe with Dr. Mori.

"No, trust me it's--" Aika's head turned towards the noise as she was about to pour the tea into one of the six cups. She quickly set down the teapot to avoid breaking it as well, sighing as Dalton appeared in the doorway. "I'm not even going to ask." She muttered before deciding to take the tea set over to the dining table, pouring a cup of tea and handing it over to Dalton. "Here, maybe this will make you feel better." She said softly as she took a seat next to him, looking over her shoulder briefly at James with a knowing look of "We'll talk about it later" before resuming to pour the rest of the tea into the remaining cups. featherleg mintedstar/fur Damien smiled slightly sheepishly as they discussed their passion-specifically Leila's excitement for Hockey. He nodded slowly in appreciation to the passion of response. "Thank you!" He further pressed, the excitement was just exhilarating. At that moment his growing excitement slightly started to dim, it wasn't gone but jsut more tame, with the inclusion of Urian's interest. Though his uncle was serious, it was a very amazing moment, in Damien's mind, for his uncle to take interest. It was an honor, "Y-Yes!" He stiffened his back, "I will for sure keep you guys updated on my games!" He assured the two. "Thank you both for your support, it means a lot!" Is this progress! Or did I just freak out?! Who cares, progreess! "I am looking forward to this season, and we'll for sure make evreyone proud!" That was his team pride right there. It was beaming with excitement, in that moment, he was just happy to have driven Urian's interest-well at least he thought, until the next topic reached a peak. "O-Oh.." Damien looked down. "S-Someone...N-No!" He snapped in shock to the response. "Well-someone isn't the answer...no ..." He started spewing nonesense. "It's just school in general." He looked between the two. "Content is just a little tough. Like the honor classes, AP, and juggling between sports is just a long day." He shared with everyone at the dinner table. "Just trying to keep up with everything. I don't want to disappoint anyone, and I don't want to fail my own expectations is all." He somewhat started to look away. He took in a deep breath, trying to push aside the excitement that was Leila, and the intimidation that was Urian. "No one is making my life difficult, and for that I'm grateful. Just like my school studies, my classmates, my team- we are all supporting each other through these classes." He smiled at the thought. The struggles were real but the adventure was well worth it. Rowlin chuckled lightly, it was an interesting meetup, that he had no idea as to who would be present. "It's a pleasure to see you both. I hope things have been going well Urian." His soft gaze turned to Leila, "I also hope things have been rather adventurous for you. Hopefully not landing into well-trouble." He shyly gazed away at the thought. He knew about Leila's track record for getting into trouble-even when it wasn't trouble it was still trouble. "In a way, you could almost say, that I had no idea I was coming either." He chuckled some more now reaching out for a plate and serving himsellf. His hands gently navigated across the table, prepping his own plate, with captivating hand movements, that just make anyone want to stare, or be intrigued. The same kind of hand movements that would want to make anyone learn, or listen. "I been a little occupied since we've last talk, but you could almost say that fate's pulling the strings to bring me all the way out here." He beamed with enthusiasm as he started to enjoy his meal. "How have things been going for you?" He couldn't help but ask. Derrick on the other hand, remained by the hallway still waiting, it didn't feel like a long time-it was just time. His dark gaze glimpsed around the room, from the never endings spam of pictures. He was feeling warm and fuzzy on the inside, recalling everything that he and Celestia had encountered, since the beginning, up until now. He smiled , crossing his arms feeling very happy, lucky-he had his best friend by his side, the person he could rely on, the individual who he could always standby. It was Celestia, and he was one lucky duck, to be with her, to this day. He had briefly zoned out, forgetting he was on standby in the hallway, unaware of what was going on upstairs.

“Oh.” Lucas looked down, now rather embarrassed that he had mentioned the title at all. It simply wouldn’t be worth the effort of correcting everyone he encountered, as much as he preferred to not be addressed by the title at all. “Alright.” He was content to let Selena handle this as much as possible... mostly because he didn’t know what was in the file Elizabeth had written for him. “My generation and relationship with Selena are the things I needed updated, but,” he hesitated. “There’s also the matter of my birth name. I believe I previously indicated that I didn’t know it?” featherleg

RosestarDalton watched her pour the tea into the cup. The only sounds for a moment was the quiet swoosh of the tea falling from the spout, and the sizzling of the meat on the stove. No one was saying anything, and beyond the headache that was starting to creep in again, Dalton could feel the tension in the room. James was stiff at the counter. Aika was carefully sitting next to him. He could feel the suspicion in James tension, the pity in Aika's gaze. And things had been going so well too. Not well. Things had been normal. But. Dalton wasn't exactly normal, was he? He could hear Aika's voice in his mind, reminding him that the vampire feeds off self-doubt, but it only served as a warning coming too late. The memory playing back was one of many. In the dining room, there was a pair of loveseats tucked away by the window. Next to it, a side table with a book or two resting there. Dalton had blinked and then saw himself and a younger Aika sitting there, at a different chair, in a different time. They were giggling over the book they were reading together. And it struck Dalton how happy both of them looked. Not just in a little kid way. The two seemed so comfortable around each other. Dalton's little feet were kicking against the seat, occasionally meeting Aika's legs, and the two would tangle together. He watched as young Aika took his glasses, round frames at the time, and wiped them off on her shirt when she noticed they were dirty. Sharing the same space, exisiting by each other's side, was natural for them. Dalton felt something clutch at his heart as the vision faded. He had stumbled. Slammed his foot into the table. Swore to himself. Held his head in his hands. He thought about how much easier it would be if these things came with a warning label. Now, Dalton reached for the tea cup, letting the warmth of it anchor him to the present. Almost immediately his glasses fogged up. He didn't bother to fix it. It would shield that he was avoiding Aika's gaze, for now. "Thank you, it smells great." he murmured. "The dinner too James, I've missed your cooking." "It'll be ready in a moment." James replied. "I'll go tell the girls." With that, he left the room, leaving Dalton alone with Aika and the tea.

Auransky mintedstar/furSeeing how enthusiastic Damien was at the idea of them attending his upcoming games, the two responded in their own equal terms of excitement. Urian simply nodded with a smile that was a polite but encouraging smile while Leila grinned and reached across to give him a fist bump, an honorary custom between the two as a sign of good luck and support. At the dismal of Leila’s hypothesis, she seemed to deflate, her head resting on her hand as she perched her arm on the table. You win this round, Urian. She thought to herself as she continued to listen to her nephew's plight. Urian, on the other hand, looked as if he was taking mental notes of the issues Damien was facing. It made sense to him that he would suddenly feel overwhelmed with his school schedule. He was in his senior year, if he recalled correctly, which he had read prior to attending university to be a rather stressful time for teenagers. “Well, I’m glad to hear that you have support systems within the school, but if you ever need help with balancing things out--even if temporarily--your Aunt and I would be glad to assist.” Stepping out of her small drama, Leila nodded in agreement. “My brother is right. We both know that you guys are working hard and we’d like nothing more than to see you succeed. So, don’t be a stranger, okay? Feel free to reach out to us about anything.” Having Rowlin join the table seemed to shift the attention away from Damien momentarily. “Ah, yes. If you are referring to my studies and pursuits, they are going quite nicely.” Regardless of the fact that he had hit a roadblock in his most recent assignment on attempting to explain teleportation magic and the limitations of it, Urian was content with his current life as a university student. Leila perked up as Rowlin asked about her well being next. “Nothing I can’t handle, I assure you.” A devilish smirk appeared as she recalled all of her recent escapades, many of which she knew to not bring up at the dining table due to the current crowd. The two listened in their own respective manners, seemingly more engaged in comparison to Kai and Viola, who kept trying to gain their brother's attention and perhaps guidance as to what to do without their parents' presence. “It appears that fate is kind to us in this moment then to bring us all together under the same roof. Wouldn’t you agree, Leila?” “I-I suppose. Though, I prefer to make my own decisions instead of far off concepts making them for me.” She said nonchalantly while refilling everyone's glass at the table with refreshments. “I’ve been going on expeditions since summer of last year and just got back to Embra about...three months ago? Lots of field work, you would have loved it.” She said towards Rowlin as she placed the final glass down before returning to her meal. “I, on the other hand, have been busy attending seminars and lectures. My field studies commence this summer. I’m hoping a certain individual's past actions won’t impact the perception of my professors during my time away, but if they do, I have the means to prove myself justly.” The sound of footsteps came from behind Derrick as Aika and Celestia appeared with a slight tension accompanying them. Looking at her two friends, Aika straightened herself before speaking up. “I’ll go ahead and take my place at the table and stall for you both. And Celestia…,” She paused before giving her an apologetic look, “...I’m sorry for my misstep. It won’t happen again.” Turning away from them, she exited the hall to join the distant conversation in the dining room. Celestia closed her eyes for a moment, rubbing her temples with her right hand out of an attempt to calm herself. Opening her eyes, she turned towards her husband with a look of exhaustion. “We handled the situation, but the solution is temporary. I’d like you, Rowlin, Aika, and myself to meet in my office after dinner to resolve this manner. I’ll have my siblings keep watch over the kids.” A look of defeat washed over her face as she looked down the hall. For what was supposed to be a calm evening, it was anything but that.

Misty“Ahhh, a rather tricky matter for many of us. Rest assured, sir, it is a common situation for people like us to come across such information at a later point in this life.” Clive said in a matter of fact manner. “Would you prefer to write your birth name down or speak it to me? I only ask as some of our clients have a preference to not hear it, depending on the person's past. There is also that matter of whether you’d like to be known by your current name or retake your birth name. You can always change it in the future if you so desire.”

Rosestar“Glad to hear it.” Aika replied as she placed the serving tray for the tea towards one end of the table, assuming that James would take the other end once he returned with his sister and her friend. The silence that now filled the room left her at a standstill as what she should do with herself. There was no piano or musical instrument in site for her to gravitate towards to fill the silence, and it seemed a bit too late and out of place to just put a playlist on. She glanced over at Dalton to see his glasses fogged up. Her hand had begun to move up, as if to reach out and take them away, but she recoiled the action and quickly took one of the cups of tea, wrapping both of her hands around it, hoping he hadn’t noticed as she stared down at her small reflection that sat in the tea cup. A brief memory of them surfaced in her mind of her having to fix his glasses, an older pair, after an accident of sorts that led to one of the arms breaking off. The sight of him smiling after placing them back on his face would have made her feel happy in the past, but now she was left in melancholy. “Your glasses are fogged up.” Her voice was quiet and small but enough to reach him, as if she was trying to avoid breaking the silence that held the two apart.

He supposed it was an obvious thing he notice, especially when his glasses were such a prominent feature of his. He sighed, and started to go to fix them, when he saw Aika's hand reach out towards him. He froze. Her hand traveled closer, up towards his face, never quite reaching it before she pulled back again. Before he knew it, he had bitten his lip, much harder than he intended, to stop himself from telling her to do it. There was the slight bitter taste of iron on his tongue. He stared at the table and realized he wanted her to take his glasses and clean them and put them back on his face and smile at him, like she had in that vision. Just to prove that he wasn't going crazy. They had to be coming from somewhere, right?
Maybe.
Even if she did, Dalton was almost sure she wouldn't be smiling at him this time. The air was too heavy. She felt far away from him. Which was a strange way of thinking about it. It wasn't like they had been particularly close, emotionally. Dalton took a sip of the warm tea, and relaxed somewhat from the warmth of the ginger. She was still watching him."What are you thinking about?" he asked softly, finally taking his glasses and beginning to clean them himself. It was probably nothing but pity. Perhaps his friends had reason to be worried about his health after all.

Perhaps she should have looked away or at her tea again instead of at him, but it was hard not as old feelings started to come back to her, like waves against the shore. A small frown lined her lips as she spoke. "It's just...I wish we had all done something like this sooner. No, more than I hadn't denied everyone's previous requests to such occasions." There was this look of sadness that was so honest, it hurt to see. An emotion that was deeper and begging to be dived into with the same sense of warning as to welcome. The statement was just the surface to something much bigger and more complicated than she lead on, but perhaps it was a difficult subject to speak on for her. Still, a wall, a barrier, whatever you'd like to call it, was coming down. "It's hard to take back time once it's gone, you know?" Her voice was soft but there was pain in it, a lingering and rooted one that could not be missed. Rosestar

His glasses were still in his hands, haven't been replaced yet. Wordlessly, he placed them on the table, deciding instead to push her teacup towards her hands. "Here. It's very good. Maybe it'll make you feel better." He smiled slightly as he repeated what she had said to him a moment ago. Still, why did she look so sad? Did something happen recently that she hadn't shared? It felt like she was speaking to a kind of loss. But Aika didn't talk about her family often... He shook his head slightly, to clear his mind of speculation, and finally put his glasses back on. Whatever the reason for her pain was less important than helping her feel less alone. "We're not out of time yet, you know, Aika."

There was a moment of pause as she kept her gaze on him before returning it to the cup in front of her. "R-Right..."Her voice trailed off as she raised the cup to her lips, taking a small sip. The flavors of the ginger and green tea did in fact allow a second of clarity, for which she was thankful for. However, it was enough to take away the emotions that still lurked in her eyes, rather instead just bring them to a controlled state. Her brows raised slightly at his statement, making her hands grasp around the cup a bit tighter as her dark brown eyes met with his bright blues. "Maybe you're right. There isn't just tonight, but tomorrow as well." Spending time together without the necessity of work involved was possible. This didn't have to be an one off event, as long as she made the effort to see it through. Even if it was a risk, it was a risk she was willing to take at this point.

He agreed, and reached for the teapot to top her cup off. It had seemed whatever daydream he was lost in a moment ago was dispelled by focusing on something else. Now that Aika was returning to some kind of calm as well, Dalton wasn't sure when his own next bout of confusion would occur. Maybe later on, unprompted, or maybe Aika, in a better mood, would smile and send him hurtling back to uncertainty. Even still, he was relieved to have brought her some kind of comfort. That was his job, as the leader of the group. "And, after all, you still owe me a performance. Let's not forget," he grinned at her, once again trying to be funny, and not sure if it was coming across right. Neither of them weren't very good at holding an actual honest conversation, as it turned out.

"Oh, I don't forget my promises, Dalton, especially when a performance is involved." She said with a smirk before taking another sip of her tea. Placing it down, she took her phone out from her back pocket and started looking through what appeared to be sheet music. "Although, it would help if you picked a date, location, and time, seeing as though James doesn't have a working piano here." While she also knew how to play other instruments, such as the bass guitar and violin, the piano was her specialty. Plus, keeping her other two skills a secret seemed amusing to her.

Lucas looked at Selena from the corner of his eye as he bit his lip, considering his options. Selena didn’t use her birth name, and he didn’t want to use his. But would she be disappointed that he didn’t want to use his birth name? “I don’t want to retake my birth name, but I would like to add it as a middle name to my current name,” he decided. It seemed like a good compromise. It wouldn’t be used daily, but it also wouldn’t be completely forgotten. “It’s-” He paused. “I think I’d rather write it down.” He wasn’t quite comfortable saying it yet. featherleg

Misty"But of course." Clive handed him a pen and the file that would be used for his registration. There was a blank space above where lines of text would be filled eventually, probably with the help of the document Selena had brought with her. Selena turned towards him as she placed her hand on his shoulder in a supportive manner. "I actually did the same when I registered at the Court for the first time." It was a simple statement, but one she hoped would help him in his current situation as she knew it from her own past experiences.

Dalton nodded, and opened his mouth to begin to speak, when James entered the kitchen again. "It looks like we're all set to go. I'm going to start bringing the food in, you're welcome to sit down in the dining room, if you'd like."
"In that case, we'd better bring the tea in." Dalton said, and grabbed a nearby serving tray and placed it on the table. He carefully began loading on the teacups that hadn't been touched yet, and gestured for Aika to take the tea pot. "You're probably better off carrying it yourself, tho I can handle our pair of teacups so they don't get mixed up."

Aika turned her head and nodded towards James, quickly putting her phone away as she and Dalton stood up. "Just don't stub your toe again and we should be fine." For all the teasing he had done towards her, it was only fair that she get some jabs in from time to time. Turning on her heel, she took the tea pot over to the dining room.
From behind James, the sound of hurried footsteps descended from the staircase. "I'll call getting to sit across from Aika, since I won the last match." Nariko proclaimed proudly as her and Lily entered the kitchen. "James, can Lily and I help with anything or is everything handled?" While she was certainly hungry, the food had to get to the table first, along with anything else deemed necessary to be there by James.

"It looks like Dalton and Aika have the tea handled. I'm still putting the stir fry into a serving dish, but the egg rolls are ready to go out if you'd like. Lily, can you get the extra rice?"
Lily nodded enthusiastically, and she and Nariko busied themselves with their respective tasks. When they arrived at the dining room, Lily mapped out the seating arrangements. She placed herself next to Nariko (it was only fair), with Nariko across from Aika, of course. That left Dalton next to Aika and Lily deemed James to sit at the head of the table, since this was his meal. She organized the guests as the quiet patter of rainfall began above.

Lucas took the file and pen from Clive, looking down at the blank space at the top of the page as he clicked the top of the pen. He gave Selena an appreciative smile before beginning to write his birth and preferred names on the page. His elegant, cursive handwriting gave some indication of his age, as he hadn’t chosen to print either name. After he finished, he clicked the pen again before handing it and the file back to Clive. featherleg

"You got it!" Along side her best friend, Nariko grabbed a plate and loaded it with egg rolls, bringing them over to the dining room with Lily. "Good evening! We bring the sides for this delicious meal!" She said with a bright smile as she followed Lily's lead on arranging the items across the table.
"Oh, good evening to you both. Thanks for grabbing those for us." She smiled softly at the two as the sound of rain began to hit the windows enough to be noticeable. Looking outside, a shocked look appeared on her face as she took a step back. "Ummm, James, would you mind opening your garage really quick?" She has already exited the dining room a bit of rush, grabbing her keys from the jacket pocket. "I'd rather not leave my bike out if it's going to start raining."

Misty"Excellent!" He said as he took the file back from him. "Unless there is anything else you'd like to state, I'll handle the rest of your file for you. Don't worry, I am--or I should say was--under Lady Selena's direct jurisdiction." Selena nodded in response. "If you happen to see Dasco, Clive, please inform him that I'm still working on my research within the Wolves Den and will not return until it's completed." "Understood, I'll make sure to do so."
