Rowlin turned his full attention out the window with a warming smile on his face. "Rain is seen as a force that cleans the land of all its stress, and held in emotion. Rain is also seen as a mellow song that reminds us that it's okay, that it will always be okay." He added, his tone mellow at the thought. "Throughout history rain has been viewed as both good and bad, but in common it carries peace, and a time to start a new. The reset of life, and that melody reminding you that it's okay to cry, because in the end we're all human." He rested his face against his left hand, "So what if it isn't the expected time to rain, a stray shower reminds us that just like it forced a surprise on us; we also just can't give up on everything we strive for..." He trailed off. "For this I tell my students that rain just like sun are all mile stones in our life to reflect upon then use it to progress on from there. Without happiness, we wouldn't feel sorrow, just like those heavy and blazing storms release our furry. Yet after all is said and done the sun shines once more, as a symbol of our triumph, over trial and the happiness of success."

((The main post is my most recent. ^^ Up to this point he basically met Nariko. He claimed to be a student which he isn't, and just went with that roll to learn more about the town. On top of that, he realized that this girl is attending school, at the place he applied for a part time position as a history teacher. Where he messed up is my latest post where he said "students" instead of "friends.")) ((Now maybe that detail might not get picked up, but I thought it would be a cool way to like see if it gets picked up.))

The drive to Aika's house was a lot shorter than he remembered. Or maybe time was just flying by. He really wished he had brought a bottle of water, he was feeling dizzy again. Just don't think about it Black. Soon you'll have the real Aika in front of you, that'll give you something to focus on. he thought to himself. Once outside her house, he parked the car, knowing if he circled the block it would only freak her out. Knowing he looked like a mess, he ran a hand through his hair for a minute, trying to collect himself before he had to go get her. James started by pulled out the samples of the ice he had been storing in a cooler since the mission. He thought it would be best for her to observe them while he gave her the play by play. He tried not to get too specific- even if he did trust Dr. Mori, Calhoun would no doubt be interested in the mission and would be going through the file, personally he was sure. "Sad to say we couldn't find anything, but at least we didn't come away empty handed," he finished, gesturing to the icicles in the flasks he had taken. Aika glanced up at the clock in her kitchen. "Five minutes to go. I should probably bring an extra tumbler of tea, just in case someone wants it." She grabbed two from one of the cabinets and started filling them up with Jasmine tea. Once James had handed over the samples, it seemed like she was taking more notes on them than the actual mission. There wasn't much write about it anyways, but she seemed rather pleased with the samples. "No James this is great! Truthfully, I was against the mission altogether. I was going to wait until today to send you two out since my agents would be returning within the next few hours, but Calhoun insisted that we proceed immediately." She shook her head as she placed the samples in a case holder. "Honestly, I don't know what's gotten into him. He use to be so reserved when I first started working with him. Now he just wants results. And he wants them fast. It's like he's hunting for something, but I just can't figure out what it is." There was a pause before she spoke again. "Anyways, is Dalton alright? You seem fine for the most part, but some people react differently to blood magic than others. Especially this type. If it wasn't frozen, it be rather unstable since its raw energy. I haven't seen something so pure in years to be honest with you. Blood magic can be corrupted rather easily overtime."

Well, he might as well head up to the door. Five minutes left and all. Dalton, looking a bit more put together than he had a few minutes ago, rang the doorbell. While the information on Calhoun was much needed and certainly offered him a piece of the puzzle he was trying to solve, James couldn't focus on that right now. The moment of truth had arrived- how much about Dalton was James willing to give up? Well, it was Dr. Mori, and she had admitted to not wanting them to go on the mission. Surely she knew the dangers? "He seemed disoriented, that's for sure." He didn't have to share a single one of his suspicions.

(No problem Minted ^^ Also sorry I didn't reply last night to your post Shining, the mobile version loads strangely and I only had enough time to reply to one post since I was at work u.u )
Most of what Rowlin was talking about made sense. A lot of the old books and novels her mom had let her borrow from her bookshelf told similar tales. Moreover, some of them said rain was suppose to represent in change in events, depending on how the storm lasts. However, when he brought up the part about his students, that threw her off. Maybe it was a slip of the tongue? He might have been a tutor before. Yeah that has to be it. "Well, how about never ending rain? In some books the location of the story never sees the shine of the sun, and the plot actually revolves around trying to bring the sun back to stop the rain from ever occurring then. Wouldn't rain be seen as a never ending curse in that scenario if it's never broken?"
As the door opened from other side, a quick, "Hey!" rang out as Aika was grabbing her coat from the coat rack the was next to the door. Once she saw Dalton's face, the smile the was composed on her face rapidly disappeared and was replaced with furrowed brows and concerned eyes. "Dalton are you alright? You look sick." Without much hesitation, the back of her palm rested on his forehead, only causing the worrisome expression on her face to worsen. "Have you eaten anything at all? It feels like you have a fever, and those dark circles have me convinced you didn't get much sleep."
"That is a rather common symptom when being exposed to blood magic. Some people, if not trained properly, have been reported to have gone mad from extended periods of exposure. I would say you're both lucky that it was frozen as it is. If this was left in it's original state, it would have enveloped the whole palace, almost like vegetation does when unkempt." Her hand put down the pen she was using to write down her notes, signaling she was finished. "Regardless, I'd be wary with any mission Calhoun attempts to assign you to. There is a mission I'd like to give to you, but I'd rather wait for your whole team to be recover than send you straight into it like he did. Just let me know if you'd like to take it and I can give you the briefing then."

(Feather , it's all good! Work, school I get it. <3 ) (I'm going to wait for silver to be on before I pull the phone card. Xd )
"If we're talking in contexts of cultures that once lived in locations of none stop rain , then sure. It would be safe to assume that the curse was never uplifted, however." He took out a pen from his pocket, "If we reflect on history and geography, we know that most groups that lived in places such as Seattle, or the rainforests eventually migrated out because of the soggy terrain being difficult to farm in. They would move just far enough where rain would continue to pour , but at the same time vegetation could substation itself. The few that remained behind however, were well... the ones who felt that there was no need to change. which is okay, but when trying to thrive a civilization, you kinda want to move with the herd." As he spoke, his own moved in a notion as though he were using a diagram of a board to explain his explanation. "As for fiction, it would make sense. Mainly because fiction is meant to tell a tale about anything. In this contexts someone took a piece of history and renovated it to fit their moral of the story. The moral being that life isn't perfect where as rain represents our trials up until our death, and it is our job to ensure that we pursue our happiness no mater where we are." He paused, "A student's report once discussed the topic you bring up for a final report in history. This individual talked about the myth behind rain, and they pulled out concepts from the story you mention as one reference to compare to the actual reports she looked up." He tapped the pen against the side, "I-I think she got an A... not a hundred because of some typos, but it was enjoyable. W-Well we did tell her to go get it checked by the writing center or any English major before turning it in."
(If the contexts feels vague as to who students or who and graded; then don't worry about it. IT's meant to be unclear. Xd )

Normally, Dalton would have replied with a snappy joke, but they both knew she would be able to see through it easily. He watched her, only recognizing that he was running a temperature until she pointed it out. "...You're right about the sleep thing. As for food, I totally forgot about that. So no, I didn't eat." He hated to worry her, but it was a subject that wouldn't be dropped easily. Besides, he was too tired to try to lie to her. It seemed much easier to admit that he really wasn't well, with her staring at him like that. It almost made him want to lean against her shoulder and rest his eyes for a minute. But Dalton stayed standing, shrugging his shoulders. "I didn't think it was that big a deal."
"I'm sure everyone will be willing, once we all get back in the office. I'll mention it to them. Thank you for your time, Doctor," He smiled, quietly filing away all the new information he had gotten from this conversation in the back of his head. Come to think of it, I haven't seen Dalton today. I'll check on him at the meeting, he thought, smile vanishing. He should be all recovered from yesterday.

(Gotcha Shining, I'll reply to your post once Silver makes her reply ^^ )
"Not a- Dalton, this is your health we're talking about, of course it's important." Her eyes closed as she shook her head, her hand returning to her side. "We're not leaving if your thought process is this skewed." She ushered him inside her apartment, making sure to close the door once he got inside, and gestured towards the couch. "I'll prep you some food and medicine while you rest. And you're not helping me just because I'm injured, alright? If you try you'll just exhaust yourself even more." I'll call James later if he doesn't feel a bit better by 3:30. Surely him and Naomi will understand.
"Of course, feel free to drop by anytime." She smiled polite towards him and waved as he left. Her gaze turned back towards the samples as she carefully picked one up and turned in around with her fingers. iThere must be a way to track whose energy this is. How would I be able to do so... Blood magic mainly came from weapons or from a vampires hands, so there was a chance she could find some prints within the samples. Releasing them from there stay might be a bit tricky however.
