Kestrelpaw noticed Meltedpaw and gradually sidled towards him. He noticed Whiteraven moving away from the camp entrance, as it was time to switch guard duty. He leaned over to look at Meltedpaw's face and smiled. "So, your sister's off then? And with my mentor." He commented.

"Hah, not really- pine trees are not the most suitable places to sit in. Sharp needles, uncomfortable branches... I mean there were a few other trees but as you can probably guess... mostly pines." Ashtail responded, looking to Icefire, then back ahead as he lead the group. "We should reach the fallen pine tree in just a few more minutes, which is close to the border between your territory and unclaimed land. I was hoping we could even reach the mountains today, but..." He glanced at Shiverpelt, who looked annoyed. "We can stay overnight in the forest." He finished with a smile and a wink, which made Shiverpelt huff.

Kestrelpaw thought for a moment, and nodded. "Well, StarClan said..." He said wistfully. "Maybe they are... required. But no one ever said cats not assigned couldn't go, did they?"

"Wellllll... Nevermind, actually." Kestrelpaw said with a long, exaggerated sigh, looking closely at Meltedpaw to see his clanmate's reaction. "I guess that's it then, too late for it as they already left... they can't be too far, but since we din't ask beforehand." He shrugged and frowned. "Then again, nobody's watching." He added in a whisper.

( Lol Ashtail wasn't flirting, but I imagine many cats misinterpret his actions sometimes as he's always poking fun at everyone. cx )
Ashtail looked to Stormcloud, ignoring Shiverpelt's tiny hiss. "Oh, well, we had a lot of cats, I guess, by some standards. TimberClan had more though. But I think that's because they had a lot of allies, no so much clan born cats." It came to mind as he said it that PineClan may actually have less cats than he remembered, by the time he came back. A image of Silverfang's death lingering in his mind caused him to slow his step slightly, and he felt a surge of fear of returning as he had before. He quickly shook it away and smiled, picking up his pace. It wasn't his fault Silverfang died. He had almost died too in that patrol; there was nothing to be done.

"TimberClan, following? And leave their precious valley?" Ashtail said, a sort of bitter amusement in his voice. "Never! Besides, PineClan might not even be going anywhere for all I know. I just assumed we would end up leading, as Alderstar was tired with fighting and we had illness in the clan..." A rather startling image of his clan disbanded made his fur rise a bit and he added quickly. "I guess we'd have to move, though, and by now who knows, they might already be on their way, the pine forest outside your territory would be perfect. Oh, and I've been away now about four moons." He tried to say it casually.

Erminetail walked in silence, his mind filled with thoughts of his mate back in camp. Badgerstripe padded a few tail lengths behind him, her pelt prickling with excitement.

"It shouldn't have been that long." Ashtail responded gravely. "When I met Nutmeg we were delayed by a blizzard, and before that I was captured by twolegs. Then it took almost a moon to get here, and then I stayed here for the rest of the time. It's been a long journey; I'm glad we're finally going home... er, that is, I am anyways."

Ashtail led on in silence for the next few minutes. He could scent the pines mingling in with the scent of OakClan territory, and saw the mountains in the distance. "Almost to the pine forest." He remarked cheerfully.
Nightglisten walked besides him and looked on ahead, recalling when he had come with way as an apprentice.
Shiverpelt merely quickened her pace, and hoped they'd hunt along the way.
