No, I'm using Engine 001 but I assume their functionality is similar. If you wanna give helping with the graphics a try go for ^^ just show me a couple of little examples that could be used for the game. I think dashingshadows has the cats covered (want to keep them consistent so best if the same artist does those sprites, or at least the basis) but things like prey, enemies, plants, and that sort of thing we definitely need. I would say my only requirement would be since we have a general "style" from the graphics we do have is just try to make your style, at the very least, similar enough that it's not a jarring difference.
And Noble, sure if you want. I'm not sure what it would entail or how it would help but if you wanna set something up go for it, since it might help XD

A GDD is really just a place to keep track of the mechanics and way you want the game to look and feel so you aren't like flipping through 10 pages of conversation bc you THINK this is where you put it. It would include things like a mock up of the way the maps work and the chat system and stuff with diagrams and stuff. you would put in it the mechanics you want along with how you are going to go about doing them. this thread is basically a Game Design Document if you think about it, just more interactive lol

That's my main speciality, and I'll try to give you an example soon enough.

Ah I see lol. Hm. I'm not really sure how much that would help, since I already have a map in my head of HOW to do things and it wouldn't be any easier to describe that to just do them. However, things that possibly could be listed are what the features actually are (If not exactly how they're set up scripting wise) and how they interact. A list of things that we need graphics-wise would also be good.
And at Dog... Yeah, foxes, dogs, badgers for sure. Also monsters and two legs. Could probably also include birds like owls and hawks as well but I'm not 100% sure how they'd function since their combat would be a bit different than other enemies. Debating on whether to include non-canon enemies like raccoons and stuff.

The graphics test map. This is exported straight from the game- this is exactly what it looks like at the moment. Currently, there are two adult body types, long hair and short hair. There are three tail lengths- normal, short, and bobbed- as well as a complete lack of a tail. All three are completed for the short-haired version, but only the normal long-haired tail is done. There are three muzzle lengths: long, normal, and short. Cats may also have heterochromia.

Also, quick question, but what types of fur patterns are there going to be? I can list the ones I know: Albino Bicolor Calico Classic tabby Colorpoint Dilute tortoiseshell Hairless Mackerel tabby Silver Silver tabby Spotted Spotted tabby Ticked tabby Tortoiseshell Tortoiseshell tabby Tuxedo Van I think I got them all. You certainly don't have to add all of them (that would be a lot of work ' ), they're just some options.

Currently my plan is to have the coloration in pieces that can be mixed and matched, similar to the body sprites. The areas for markings will be belly, chest, tail, muzzle, front legs, and back legs (or possibly all legs individually, we'll see). That would be things like white paws, muzzle, tail-tip, chest, belly, etc. Then there are markings- spots, tabby, etc.- which are divided into head, body, tail, and legs. My currnet plan is to have 3 tabby variations, 3 spots variations, tortoiseshell, and speckles. Depending on how you match mix the markings and patterns, it will be possible to create classic coat patterns such as tuxedo or calico. I may also have some presets which are those sorts of patterns as well.
As for base coloration, I will probably set it to four, maybe five shades of several different colors such as gray (which would include black and white), ginger, brown, and tawny. Eyes will also consist of 3-4 different hues of blues, greens, and yellows (which would include orange).

Yo sorry I haven't commented in a few days, been busy so I haven't really made an game progress. Thanks for the compliments though. You can mostly thank dashingshadows though, s/he really is the one who made all the graphics except for the grass and dirt tiles (the only thing I did entirely on my own). Anything else is just where I've modified what s/he did and put it all together.

Awesome! I'll add them to the game as soon as I get the chance. Not sure when that will be since I'll probably be very, very, very busy for the next... week or so. Just had a LARP event for this past weekend, then have a four-day convention from Thursday to Sunday, and will probably have to work practically nonstop in the between time and shortly after to make up for my days off lol. But hopefully I will be able to work on this with fervor again soon.

Yeah definitely! I've just been on the move almost constantly for about 3 or 4 weeks now so I haven't had the time to do, well, pretty much of anything lmao. But that's over now, things are back to normal, so after I take a couple days to recover I should be mentally able to start working on this again.
