i'm really bored and i don't think anyone's online at the rps i'm in. i tend to be a bit slow replying and usually have a hard time staying focused long enough to write really long posts, but i'll try to match post length. there's also a chance that i'll disappear after one post and forget to come back
i don't really have much of plot yet at all, but i do have a character i'd like to use. (i really like crossover rps where the characters get dropped into different worlds/alternate versions of their world so maybe something kind of like that..? idk)) edit- forgot to mention that powers are allowed as long as they aren't super op)) A small, hooded figure walked down the road, pausing occasionally to look around, apparently looking for something. Eventually she came to a halt, looking up at an enormous house, tilting her head slightly to the side as she looked at it. The house looked quite old, there were no cars in the driveway and no lights on in the windows. The grass looked like it hadn't been cut in a very long time and the pillars and porch were coated in a tangle of vines, but she was sure it was the house she was looking for. Six years after it's owners had disappeared, it still looked empty. The girl glanced around to make sure that no one was watching her, then walked up to the door and tried to turn the knob. As she'd suspected, it was locked. Not about to give up, she took a pin out of her hair and started trying to pick the lock. Her attempt was cut short when the pin slipped out of her trembling fingers and fell into the mess of vines. ((she's around 17, (though I could readjust her age a bit if it works better) and she's from a book i'm writing. i'm kind of nervous about posting a lot of details, but i could probably pm some backstory info if needed, or i could post one of her forms from one of the rps i'm in.)) broken

(Hi again! Thanks for linking me to this :3 I lost it when I was scrolling through a few days ago. Oh and also I will probably disappear soon because I have to go to the store and pick a few things up.) Now who to use...)
What the person on the porch did know was that there was a young man peering around the edge of the same building, watching her at her attempt to break in. But then as soon as she dropped something, he sighed softly with a smack across his face. He glanced around once more to make sure there was no one but her around, before pulling out a knife he had in his pocket, and heading around towards the front of the house, using the tall grass as cover to remain unseen.
Once he thought he was clear, the red haired boy headed up the walkway towards the girl attempting to break in, his knife raised. This girl seemed to be unarmed, so this would probably be a simple task. "What are you trying to do," his ice blue eyes rested on the girl as he smirked. He waved the knife around a bit as he spoke. "It looks like you're new to this type of thing."

((Hey Broken! Sorry for the late reply, I was going to reply earlier but I had to go to my great aunt's funeral.))
Startled, the girl jumped when she heard the voice, then whipped around to see who had spoke, one gloved hand automatically slipping into one of her jacket pocket. She was silent at first as she looked at him, her visible eye, narrowed, scanning him cautiously as she tried to determine how much of a threat he was and considered her options. She could pull out a knife of her own, or she could try talking first. He'd probably guessed that she had some type of weapon by the way her hand had went to her pocket when she'd heard him... still, she'd prefer to avoid a fight if possible.
It wasn't much of a response, but, keeping her hand in her jacket, on the handle of one of her knives, she finally replied, "I don't have my k-keys." She tried to keep her voice cool and calm, but was unable to stop herself from stuttering slightly at the end of her sentence. It had been a lot worse at one point, but even though it didn't happen as much anymore, it still irritated her and she wished she could lose it completely.

(Aw, I'm sorry to hear that. Also, I'll be gone from the 10th-14th, but I'll still be willing to rp with you once I get back if you'd like)
The teenager eyed her carefully, now well aware that she had a weapon in her pocket. It was only obvious after she had reacted. Still, even though this girl didn't seem too eager to fight, he still hadn't lowered his own weapon.
"You don't have your keys?" He echoed, tossing his head from side to side slightly as he said that. It still didn't seem like he believed that at all. But either way, he finally dropped his guard. "This place looks very run-down, I'm surprised that someone would actually live here." He commented, taking a few steps forward towards one of the windows. Then he turned back towards the girl with a raised brow. "Seriously now. What's so valuable inside?"

((Ok ^^))
She wasn't surprised that he didn't believe her. It may have been true, but he had no way of knowing that she hadn't just said it in an attempt to excuse her actions.
The girl watched him walk toward the window, hesitating to reply. "No one's lived in it for about six years," she paused, her gaze drifting to the door, then back to the other teenager. "U-unless someone moved in for awhile during that time." If someone had moved in there was probably nothing left that she was interested in... "Depends on who was here last..."

The boy blink d a few times, not knowing what to say. Why would someone want to break in if they didn't even know what was inside. Whatever, she must have her reasons. "Because that makes a lot of sense," he said, rolling his eyes. "Don't worry, I won't call the cops on you, I was just interested to see what you were doing." He paused for a long moment, not sure what else to say, so he just went back to scanning the window. There really didn't seem to be much inside.
He couldn't even believe what he was about to say next. This was something that he usually wouldn't do with a stranger. "If you need any help, I'm here now. I've done this type of thing once or twice."

"I'm sure it would make even less sense if I tried to explain," The girl said, raising an eyebrow as she listened to him in surprise and confusion, then narrowed her eyes as suspicion crept into her mind. Why would he offer to help some random person he'd just met break into a house? She picked up the pin again and went back to work on the lock, occasionally shooting distrustful glances at the boy. "I th-think I can get-" she stopped suddenly when the pin almost slipped out of her hand again. This usually wasn't hard for her... but it was different, trying to break into her old house. What was going to be behind that door when she finally got it open? Maybe there was a part of her that didn't want to know. It had been almost seven years... would she even be able to tell if anything was different?

He looked away from the window, his eyes resting on her. He had offered to help, but it didn't seem like she wanted to accept it, no matter how much she needed it. After a moment of staring in silence, he finally decided to speak up. "I don't think you can." He walked closer to the door towards her direction, with his hands out of his pockets to show that he wasn't going to pull his weapon.
"Listen, I don't know what your motive is for breaking in, but I'm willing to help you. You don't look like you're in too good of shape to do it yourself," he stared, tilting his head to one side. He halted a little bit away from her, looking between the girl and the door. "From what I can tell, there hasn't been anyone in here for quite some time." He then held out his hand as if waiting for her to allow him to help. "And better yet, you can keep whatever we find."

broken hopefully this post makes sense, it's so late here lol))The girl stopped when he moved, her gaze drifting to his hands as he took them out of his pockets before returning to the door knob. She looked at it a moment longer before sighing and stepping to the side and offering him the pin she'd been using. "Alright," she said finally. She still wasn't sure what to think, she hadn't really wanted anyone to go with her when she finally returned to the house, especially someone she'd just met, but with her hands failing to cooperate she couldn't tell how long it would be before she was able to get through the door... Again she found herself wondering just what would be behind that door. "Most days I p-probably would have been in before you'd even had a chance to see me," she commented.

"Listen, I don't know if I believe you or not, because you look terrified. I already told you I won't call the cops, especially since I'm helping you." He began working on picking the lock slowly, glancing around every now and then. Then eventually, he heard a small click and he turned the doorknob, pushing it open. "Aha, there," he said as he turned back towards the girl, holding out the bobby pin.

((oops i was trying to edit that)) broken The girl sighed and watched him pick the lock. " Fine," she said, glancing away momentarily, "if it had been any other h-house I'd have been in before you saw me. It's... this house, it just... bothers me a bit," she stopped speaking when he opened the door. Well, she had to go in now, it was too late to change her mind. "Th-thanks," she said quietly as she took the pin. She pulled a flashlight out of her pocket and turned it on as she stepped into the house. She had been pretty sure that no one had lived in it in last seven years, but she hadn't expected what she saw when she looked around the room. It looked exactly as it had when its owners had vanished, except for the thick layer of dust now coating everything she could see. A little ways into the house was a small table, where a framed picture of a couple a girl holding a plane ticket who must have been their daughter, had been left, it's glass cracked. It had been broken right before they'd left and they hadn't been able to replace it. The girl slowly walked up to the table, staring at the picture, and picked it up. After looking at it a little longer, she carefully took the picture out and looked at the back of it where a note read, "Arlo's 10th birthday, (about 7 years before whatever time their in)" She finally looked up from the picture and pointed her flashlight around the room, possibly looking for something.

--cato phoenix The teenager hesitated at the enterance for a moment, as if debating whether or not to follow her in. He had just said that he would help break into the house, but didn't say anything after that. Besides, it didn't seem like the girl wanted him around much longer. Either way, he slowly made his way in. He wanted to know what had made the girl so nervous about breaking into this house. From what he could tell, the place looked like it was in terrible condition. His blue eyes rested on a few nearly destroyed pictures before on the girl again as he caught up with her. "Sorry to bother you again, but what was it you were even hoping you found?" He wondered out loud. "Because you could've found more valuables in any other house besides this one." The red haired boy stopped talking for a moment, looking at everything the flashlight touched. "Or were you hoping someone was here?"

i was trying to reply earlier but the power went out)) broken"Huh?" The girl had nearly forgotten that the other teen was there. "Oh... Stuff that was left behind. I-it is valuable... to me at least." She took out a small leather-bound notebook and put the picture in it before returning the book to her pocket. "I was hoping no one had been here... so far it's looking like no one has been," she said, her voice seeming to hold a hint of sadness. She turned away from the table and started up the staircase, little puffs of dust rising around her boots as she walked, then paused on the landing in front of a large bookcase. "This is another reason I needed to come here," she said quietly, almost to herself, as she stepped to the side of the case and reached behind it. A second later there was a click and she swung the entire bookcase toward her like a door, revealing the entryway to a room that looked as if it was part office, part library, and part museum. Bookcases and glass display cabinets were set against most of the walls, holding books and a variety of things that the owners of the house must have collected, and part of one wall was covered by a large map of the world, dotted with pushpins, including a red pin in the Atlantic ocean. Near a window were two oak desks, back to back, a dusty old globe sitting off to one side. i'm not creative enough to come up with a new plot now so i'm kind of copying the beginning of my book

--cato phoenix(Psh don't worry about that) The boy had been about to say something, but instead kept his mouth quiet as he slowly began to follow her. "Hm, I guess I can respect that," he replied quietly. It didn't seem very valuable to him, but then some things began to click in his mind. She had said this was her house, so maybe something happened and she was separated from the rest of her family. It only made sense, since she would want to come back. He followed her up the stairs, waving a hand in front of his face to try to keep from breathing in the dust. But he coughed a few times, turning towards the now open door. He blinked a few times, looking between the girl and the room. "Wow, a house with secrets..." he had been about to step into the room, but decided against it. "I realize that I am being rude by coming with you into your old house. If you would like some time alone, I could always leave and pretend like none of this never happened."

broken The girl looked down at the some papers on the desk and moved some around, seeming to be looking for something. She glanced up when he spoke again, smiling slightly. "Oh, s-so you believe me now?" She hesitated when he suggested leaving the house and glanced around the room again. So many things in that house held memories for her. Memories of when she was little and she'd snuck into the room for the first time, memories of planning trips to places all over the world with her parents... back then, she'd though that the room had been hidden because it was cool, their own secret room filled with things from around the world. Now she knew that it was hidden because of the information kept there, information that enemies would love to get their hands on. It didn't matter though, there were little things she remembered now that she hadn't payed attention to before, but for the most part, her memories of the time she'd spent in that room were still the same... memories of a happier time in her life, of a time she wished she could return to. It hurt to think about it, but she couldn't let it slow her down, she had to try to keep herself distracted. "It's alright... you can stay a bit longer if you want," she said finally, opening one of the desk drawers. She paused, then glanced up again. "What were you doing here anyway? Same as me?"

--cato phoenixAfter a moment of debating, he decided to follow her into the room with a sigh of relief. He was rather surprised that she told him he was allowed to stay. After all, he basically barged in while she had been breaking into her old house. "Thank you, I think I might stay," he replied. He began looking around some, but didn't touch anything. He didn't want to mess anything up, because everything in this room looked old an valuable. Well, valuable enough to have its own hidden room in the staircase. "Me? I was, um." He look over in her direction. "I was walking by when I noticed there was someone at the door acting suspicious, so I watched for a little bit. That's all, really."

brokenThe girl glanced up from the desk to the other teen again, her eyes narrowed slightly. "Hmm..." She sounded doubtful. "Just walking by? Interesting coincidence," she said, apparently deciding not to ask any more questions for the moment. He'd already admitted to breaking into houses in the past, so why should she believe that he hadn't been about to break into hers? It made sense. It had been abandoned for years, if there had been a security system at some point it would have been shut of a long time ago, there was no one living in the house to catch him breaking in or notice anything missing, and the lace was in such poor condition that he probably could have broken a window without anyone realizing, making the house an easy target for thieves. She tried as good as she could to keep an eye on him while she rummaged through the desk. She was so sure that what she was looking for was in the drawer somewhere... "Ah, here!" she shouted suddenly, pulling a notebook similar to her own out of the drawer. She opened it and flipped through it, her visible eye almost seeming to light up as it scanned over the pages and pages of strange notes that seemed to focus on mythical creatures and magic. It looked more like plans for some sort of novel than a notebook, but the girl seemed to think it was important. "How much were you hid-" she stopped suddenly when the floor somewhere on the lower level of the house creaked. It wasn't loud and it could have been nothing, but judging from her her past experiences, she had a feeling she wouldn't be so lucky. Careful to keep her footsteps quiet, she moved back to the bookcase-door, pulled it shut and bolted it, glancing at the red haired boy. "Stay quiet," she warned as she picked up a backpack from beside the desk and headed toward a display case. She might have been overreacting, but she didn't really want to find out.

--cato phoenixHe watched her silently. And he was happy that she decided not to question him any farther. In fact, his plan had been to break into a few houses to get the valuable things out of it. But now that he was actually inside this house, he was sort of glad he hadn't risked breaking into this place on his own. Whatever the girl picked up didn't seem very valuable to him whatsoever. He was even confused by this whole experience. "Uh? Why would you pick up a notebook? Like, what's the big deal about that?" He had asked right after she spoke. However, he soon quieted down, casting a glance behind him a shrug he also heard the creaking noise. As soon as the girl locked them into the hidden room, the boy began to grow suspicious. He tilted his head to one side, running a hand through his hair. One of his hands also went for his knife, in case she tried anything or the other person found the room. "Yeah sure, I'll do whatever you say," he muttered, shaking his head slightly and looking towards the ground. "Someone must have followed us into the house... Well can you hurry up so we can get out of here?"

broken"To s-some people this notebook is the most valuable thing here," the girl murmured. This time she hadn't been referring to things that would only be valuable to her family. The notebook contained information that was very valuable to the right people. "And actually... they probably followed me." She walked around the room as quietly as she could, pausing here and there to put things in her backpack... If this was the last time she would be there she figured she should at least try to take as much as she could. She'd just stepped toward the desk again, brushing a bit of blonde hair away from her right eye when there was a huge bang like some type of explosion somewhere below them, shaking the entire building and a few things to fall from their shelves and the walls. A few voices stared yelling at each other downstairs. Muttering to herself, the girl glanced at the closed door again and shoved one of the desks a bit closer to the window, then climbed on top of it. "Sh-should never have let... we need to get out of here now," she said with a glance back at the red-haired boy. "The roof's slanted a bit and there isn't a whole lot of room outside the window but as l-long as we're careful we should be alright. As long as they don't see us."

--cato phoenixThe boy was obviously still confused. He wasn't sure why the book was so important, but he wasn't about to ask again, especially with the situation they were in now. He jumped slightly at the sound of the explosion, eyeing the door before slowly backing away toward the desk by the window. "Y-yeah whatever you say. Let's just go if you have everything..." He honestly didn't care how difficult it would be to escape with the roof that steep. Now, he sort of wished that he hadn't followed the girl into the house. The boy climbed onto the desk after Arlo, trying to reach for the window. "I'll follow you out, since you might know the safest way down."

broken that's okay xD sorry my reply is so late, i found out around wednesday that we had move on friday and everything's been pretty crazy since then)) "Yes..." The girl said, taking a final glance around the room. She didn't really have everything that she would have liked to take with her, but there was only so much she could bring, and she didn't have the time to try to pack anything else. She'd been away from that house for so long that her memories of it were mostly fuzzy, but she did remember that room... She blinked a couple of times, forcing herself to stop thinking about the past. Nodding to the boy, she unlatched the window and pushed it open, causing the scent of smoke to start filling the room. Pausing for a moment, she climbed up through it and almost stepped off the edge of the roof. She leaned back quickly and grabbed the window frame with one to regain her balance, then carefully peeked over the edge. "I remember it being a b-bit wider," she commented as she started to slowly make her way across the roof. "There's a garage over this way... if I'm remembering ri-," she broke off with a cough. The smoke was stronger now that they were on the roof, she couldn't actually see where the fire was. Somewhere inside the house apparently.

And next week, idk how often I'll be on starting Wednesday since that's when I move into my dorm and then there's like a week of activities o.o) The boy waved a hand in front of his face, breaking into a coughing fit as the smoke entered the room. "Oh, they certainly caused a mess downstairs," he commented before looking back at the room one last time- well what he could see through the grey smoke. Then he climbed onto the desk, carefully making his way to and out of the window. He tried to stand up as soon as he was on the roof, and almost slipped, but he grabbed the window frame. He took a deep breath, looking down below at the drop. It probably wouldn't kill, but it would certainly hurt. His gaze moved over to the girl as she made her way across the roof, and he followed. "Th-that'll be perfect," he said quietly, trying to keep his balance with every step. He hoped that she wasn't leading them right to the fire. But then again, it was hard to pinpoint where the fire was. "Hopefully the drop down isn't too far on the garage?"

(( brokenOk! Hope everything goes well! (...or maybe i should say went well) )) "I don't remember it being too far, but you'll still want to be careful," the girl replied as she headed across the roof toward where she remembered the garage being. Once she'd been on the roof for a little bit she started to speed up a bit, though she was still careful where she put her feet. She didn't want to fall off, but she didn't know where the people who's started the fire were, or if they would find the secret room somehow. If they were seen... she didn't really want to think about the possibilities. Not one of them was good. Glancing back to make sure the boy was still following her, she sighed and tried to keep herself from coughing more. Why had she been stupid enough to let anyone else get involved? She should have answered differently when he'd asked if he should leave. "Here!" she said as loudly as she dared, looking down over the side of the roof. The drop was a little further than she'd thought, but not too bad, it was definitely better than just jumping off of the roof and they didn't really have a lot of time to look for other options. Windows were breaking from the heat and she could hear the crackling of the flames. The girl jumped down onto the garage roof, stumbling forward a few steps before regaining her balance and glancing back again

--cato phoenix (Haha, no it starts tomorrow) The boy continued to follow, carefully picking his way across the roof. He noticed that they must be nearing the starting point if the fire, because the heat was almost unbearable and the crackling got louder. He tilted his head to the side, away from the fire, as he breathed. Finally, once she had found the garage, he was quick to follow, dropping down onto the roof, catching himself with his knees and hands, before he stood up. He was still for a moment before looking over the side. Then he scanned the surroundings for any signs of the people who had been inside the house. He didn't see anyone... He turned back towards the girl. "Wow, those guys are complete, you-know-what's," he muttered. He then sat down on the roof, scooting closer to the edge. The drop wasn't that far, so he would probably just jump down. He glanced back a tree the girl one more time, his legs dangling over the edge. "Well it seems safe here, i hope you managed to get everything you needed because I don't think it's safe to go back." After he finished, he jumped down, completely miscalculating the jump. The boy landed in the bushes, which cause him to get a few cuts and scrapes as he dug his way out into the open. He shook his head, his face red with embarrassment as he looked up at the girl, hoping she hadn't seem that.
