» ѕнαdσω ⚔️ - I finished my Human!Tidecaller AU drawings. :'D It's a bit lengthy, so I'll be putting everything in spoiler tags.
I based certain characters clothes from the characters in Moana; if you haven't seen it, I 110% recommend it! <333
First off, Amatheia! I thought of giving her fair, light skin at first, but then decided that her white freckles would stand out better against a darker pallette. So she has a tan complexion. Her hair is originally a dark, dark brown; she dyed it sea foam green/teal to match the ocean colors. Most of the Tribe members are barefoot; it's a way of life.
As with all female council members, she's got an intricate mermaid crown on her head - shells such as the boring turret snail shell, the flyspeck cerith, and the crown conch adorn it, as well as diamonds and other precious gemstones. Her dress is decorated with cowrie shells, silk, and dry grasses.
Her tattoos represent the ocean, of course. Newly made warriors go to the elders recieve to their ever special tattoos after their ceremonies.
Next is our Tidecaller, beautiful "goddess" Ceto. This woman has an imposing stance and aura about her. She has her mother's lengthy ocean waves, but her skin is a bit more on the fair side. She has the most elaborate shell crown, and wears it like a queen. She also wears the anklet and the bracelets Amatheia passed down to her, as well as bands around her biceps with gull feathers.
She is named after Ceto of the Greek pantheon, so I felt as if she needed less of an islander look and more of a Mediterranean feel, y'know? Which explains her alternate outfit. ( I'm thinking that "Mediterranean/Greek" fits the Tribe more than "Samoan/Hawaiian", but anyway. ) All women who are appointed as the next Tidecaller are given a rope necklace of cowries and a paua shell with waves engraved on the surface, and Ceto cherishes hers dearly. They are also granted a special conch staff; one of the methods that they can use when taming the ocean and parting it's waves - reminiscent from a certain movie scene, yes?
(It's The Prince of Egypt~)
Wylie and Brenna both have similar features; messy hair, bright eyes, and somewhat fairer skin, although Wylie’s is darker. I wanted to make Wy look more like a traveler, but eh, his design came out a bit tacky.
The Water Bearer I specifically modeled after a Waterbender. He's got long, long hair; despite his somewhat old looks ( hinting that he's been alive for quite a long time ), he has considerable amount of muscule and is quite strong. He too bears a Tidecaller necklace of his own, and ceremonial beads are weaved into his hair, suggesting years of experience and training.
Ceto's father, Meltem; I designed to make him more like a village chief. His one-strapped "toga" is decorated with elaborate patterns, and his necklace is adorned with the jaw bones of native animals he caught himself. He has Maori-esque tattoos along both arms as well as a grass skirt under his toga.
Since Kaito has a Japanese name, I decided to dress him in a typical men's kimono, with wave motifs similar to the famous Hokusai's Wave painting. He has a shell crown of his own, being a Council member, but it is less detailed than that of the females. ( I headcanon Kaito as being a Japanese Bobtail in the story, but that's just me. ^^" )
Lastly, Argo has one of the more simplistic designs. Her toga-like dress is an off-white, rimmed in gold. She wears a nautilus necklace, a shell crown, and dons dark skin and curly dark hair.
In other news, drawing feet is a pain.
But I do hope you enjoy! <3
