He took the folded paper out of his pocket and checked it again, "Well it's just a general shop - nothing hugely expensive or rare. Sells bread, milk, newspapers..." Manus flipped the clipping over, and then back again, "It doesn't even specify what was taken." He grumbled, taking the turnoff to the left in the road, the one that would lead straight into town, "Just says that every second night, someone comes along and pockets a few goods and money from the till. You'd think the shopkeeper would've invested in a good guard dog by now."

"Guard dog or human. Wonder how long this has been going on." Emilia muttered. She followed to the side of her partner. "You said they do sell food, right? Maybe the shop keeper will give us some as an extra reward..." Her mouth watered at the thought of a decent meal. Or even a slice of bread. She would go for anything at this point.

I'll write up some starters for my own characters so you can jump in later c: )
He glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, "Are you sure you don't want to stop first? It's not like the shopkeeper will be expecting us." The dirt road started to level out and the pathement appeared, as did the first few houses, and other people too. This end of town was a little sleepy at the moment, but the further they walked, the more that Soliksary came to life around them, "There's no guarantee they'll give us anything but a curt 'thank you' and our money."

Emilia was very conscious of her empty pockets. "Um...i can wait until the job is done." She sighed. This was pretty typical for her- being dead broke and not really doing too much about this. This was the first job she had taken all week.

"Well, it should be around here, somewhere." He shrugged, looking around a corner. Town got busy fast, and Manus ducked back quickly to avoid getting his face taken off by some guy on a little bike. After glaring after the rider, he went back to the corner and nodded, "Boom, there it is; Popov's General Goods Store." Creative name. It was a quaint little red brick shop with a neat awning, the kind that populated Soliksary, "After you, m'am." He made a show of dramatically opening the door, one hand tucked neatly behind his back.

"So chivalry isn't dead. I'm shocked." Emilia chuckled. She entered the little shop: It wasn't anything fancy but it was a nice place. The stock was placed neatly on shelves, everything ranging from food- which nearly made Emilia drool- to various goods. A small old man was standing at the cashiers place. "Hello," he said, "What can I do for you nice young folks?"

"We're from Yellow Moon," Manus hoped Emilia would stop drooling and indicate to her own guild mark because he didn't feel like undressing, "I'm Manus, this is Emilia." Plucking the add from his pocket, unfolding it, and sliding it across the counter to the man, he continued, "You put up a help wanted sign on our board about some robberies, and we're here to help." He tried a smile then, people reacted well to smiles. So far the shop didn't seem to jump out at him for any particular reason as being a prime suspect for a serial robbery, but maybe the old man could help with that

some starters! they're a bit long ^^' but that's bc they're starters, my replies probably wouldn't be quite as long all the time)
The Guild Master didn't feel the sun shining down on her skin, thanks to the hat and the cloak. That's what they were there for, of course. She much preferred the cool shade. Dorian had been gone for a few days, just over a whole week, at that Magic Council meeting. She always loathed going to them, because it was mandatory for each member to give a report on how things were going, and you never had any idea how MANY people went to those meetings until you were on a podium looking out at a crowd of faces. At least it wasn't required to remove either her hat or her cloak, because that would've been the final straw. It didn't matter to her if it was 'an honor' to be included if it demanded another tedious speech. Her Shepherd's Crook tapped gently against the cobblestones at she started the steep road that lead from town to the guild, ignoring the civilian stares and whispers. To non magical folk, the Guild was just a distant part of life, and the mages were mainly treated with hospitality. Some were viewed with open hostility and distrust, though they were few and far between. And a few mages had enough rumors going around about them to generate an air of mystery to was grossly exaggerated among people who didn't know what they were talking about. She supposed, as the Master, of course she would fall into the third category, and she honestly preferred it to people coming up to her and chatting. So she just kept her head down and passed through the crowds, noting her groups of civilians split around or circled away from her. That was fine. She liked the quiet. Hopefully the Guild hadn't been burnt to the ground by any of her more 'enthusiastic' mages while she was gone.
Farrell couldn't help wishing it was later then it was. The Mess Hall was huge when it was empty, and the bar looked pathetic when only he stood near it, like he was now, cleaning already clean cups with a dish towel. Behind the bar was an impressive set of shelves that reached the ceiling, and he needed his wings to reach the top shelf. They'd had them installed shortly after he took the job, and though usually he loved going up there (it was his own private space) right now, it only highlighted to him how everyone was outside on this gorgeous day and he was inside. He had to stay inside, in case anyone came in looking for something. Plus, the Guild Master should be back soon, and it was a long journey from the Capital to the Heights, she'd probably want something to drink. He fluttered back down, clocking Khione as he did so. She was sitting up at the bar on a high stool, legs dangling, tongue out, and she worked her way through math homework silently, the only noise was the scribbling of her pencil as she put a line through some numbers and started again. That kid had to be the only one he knew that didn't hate doing math homework. Though she was a little strange in general. Like the skull she wore, what the hell was that about? Didn't matter. Didn't want to know. She was just a kid after all. He sighed and crossed his arms, leaning against them on the bar, looking out at the mountain range from the arch window across the room. The only good thing about this beautiful summer day was that it was sure to inspire some beautiful night drinking when the sun set. This place would be buzzing tonight, any excuse to have a party was a good one.
Mountain ranges could be hell on her fake leg, so Grizel mainly stuck to the river in the basin of the valley. The Radisson was impressive, she'd admit that, and she'd seen a lot of rivers in her time. When did one river become another? When did the water start to taste salty? It didn't taste salty now, she noted, taking handfuls of it into her mouth, and it wasn't a long trip to the sea. She'd only meant to have stopped for a short break but it was nice here, very quiet, only the sound of the water lapping against the bank, and the occasional bird, going about it's business. On the flat rock beside her, she'd spread out her map with one hand, and was working her way through an apple with the other. In the past, there was no way Grizel would've been comfortable resting so out in the open, but she was a confident enough mage now to know that she could handle a few rogues. She'd have to stop for supplies in Soliksary, there was no avoiding it. She didn't like stopping in towns that had large Guilds, but if she stayed on the west, she wouldn't even have to go under the building's shadow. Did they build it on the east intentionally so that it's shade fell over the town for most of the day? It seemed a little sinister, but not unbelievable. A Guild Hall was a show of power, and their one was huge, like a castle. It looked like it'd been carved straight out of the mountain. But, of course, going into town meant climbing at least some kind of incline. Greeaat. Would it kill people to build towns on flat surfaces?

Emilia waved, revealing the guild mark she bore on her right calf as proof that they were who they said they were. "Oh finally wizards have come to help!" The old man smiled. "As the poster said, every second night some little sneak comes in here and helps them self to whatever they want. And tonight just so happens to be that second night, if you don't mind staying."
Sorry I poofed))

It's cool ~ I was getting dinner )
"Not at all." He looked around the shop, taking in the low roof and wooden shelves, "However, we came here straight from our guild and my friend here," Manus took a step closer to Emilia and put his arm around her shoulders, "Just finished a very daring, dangerous mission down south, and didn't have time to eat. I tried to tell her that she needed to eat, but she insisted on coming down here when she saw your ad. Could we trouble you for something to eat while we wait for nightfall?" Sure, he'd embellished the truth a little, but Emilia DID go on dangerous missions, and she WAS starving, so it wasn't a total lie.

As soon as the words left his mouth, Emilia shot him a look of 'Are you serious?' And 'Im so grateful' combined. The old man nodded. "Yes yes of course both of you help yourself...just don't eat out my entire stock." He added when he noticed Emilias voracious expression. She nearly jumped for joy at his words

She nearly jumped for joy at his words "Thank you sir, you're very kind." He made sure to make his smile warmer that time, because they'd need to stay on this man's good side if Emilia ate all his goods. "Now, could you tell us anything you may've noticed over the past couple of days that seemed off? Is someone hanging around your shop a lot more, or coming in and not buying anything?" The fact that this happens on every the second night made Manus doubt it was an animal, far more likely to be a human with a routine

The old man rubbed his chin as he pondered the question. "I have been noticing a group of cloaks figures-usually outside of my shop on the days I get robbed." He glanced at a big clock on the wall behind him. "In fact, they typically show up around 3." The time read 2:35. Meanwhile Emilia stared at a wall of freshly baked goods

"Nothing says suspicious like creepy cloaked figures." He nodded, "We'll hand around here until they come and see what we can find out. When they show up, just act natural, don't let them know we're mages. And don't worry, we'll sort this out." Selling confidence was easier then selling a pen sometimes, all it took was eye contact and a few smiles. "Right, Emilia?" He asked, emphasizing his words to try and drag the dragon slayer back to reality and out of her food daydream.
If you want to jump in at all I posted some starters further up the page ^.^)

(Hey, I'd be interested in joining this! One question, though. Some of my characters use magic which isn't listed on any of the lists- this and this. I was wondering if I could still use these and whether they'd be a secondary or primary form of magic.)
