"I would say the water broke from the container and drowned them both, but the container is small... Perhaps, one hit the other over the head with the container... That doesn't make much sense, either..." Larkwing mumbled to herself, uncertain.

"I would say the water broke from the container and drowned them both, but the container is small... Perhaps, one hit the other over the head with the container... That doesn't make much sense, either..." Larkwing mumbled to herself, uncertain. The text changes. If one struck the other, why would there be two dead bodies? Even so... are they even felines at all?

"So, they're not felines...? Are they some type of species that easily drown then?"
[Ah, my uselessness when it comes to most riddles are showing... Always love hearing them, suck at solving them...]

"So, they're not felines...? Are they some type of species that easily drown then?" [Ah, my uselessness when it comes to most riddles are showing... Always love hearing them, suck at solving them...] (Same tbh :T) Easily drown? That is a possibility, and another way of thinking about it... As for the intended answer, this is a species that cannot drown in water.

"No." Brindlemask whispers.
(I hope I'm right...I love riddles though I'm super bad at them.)

"Wait? Are they fish? In that case they'd just flop around and die, since there's no water, right?" Larkwing murmured, somewhat excited, hoping she was right.

"No." Brindlemask whispers. (I hope I'm right...I love riddles though I'm super bad at them.) (That's what makes them interesting!) That is right... to an extent. If the cat doesn't groom themself, then by that logic, he will groom himself because he doesn't do so. However, when he grooms himself, he breaks his code of "Only grooming those who cannot groom themselves." It is a paradox, much like the cat this game is named after.

"Wait? Are they fish? In that case they'd just flop around and die, since there's no water, right?" Larkwing murmured, somewhat excited, hoping she was right. The book purrs. Correct. Sometimes, you must look at all possible meanings for something to figure out what is true. Why confine yourself to one definition when you can see all the possibilities? An open mind will reveal this place's secrets.

(These Riddles are fun! They tell you stuff if you complete them!)
Brindlemask closes the book and trots over to Larkwing. "I've learned something from the Riddles. When I completed one of the Riddles, it said: If the cat doesn't groom themself, then by that logic, he will groom himself because he doesn't do so. However, when he grooms himself, he breaks his code of "Only grooming those who cannot groom themselves." It is a paradox, much like the cat this game is named after. The Riddle was: A cat grooms only those who cannot groom themselves. Does this cat groom himself?"

"That sounds confusing..." Larkwing murmured, trying to wrap her mind around the paradox. 'Reminds me of that living or dead cat from that other book,'

"Yes. I believe that these Riddles are trying to tell us something." Brindlemask meows.

"Possibly, the riddle I had encouraged me to be open-minded after I solved it... They also seem to be more helpful than the books, surprisingly," Larkwing glanced at the various riddle books around the Library.

Bramblewish felt a sense of fear overcome her as she looked around. What was there to do and how could she get out? For the first time since she had arrived, she felt desperate. What was she doing here and how did she get here? Her memory was clouded and she had no idea whatsoever.

Allie appears in the Library, seemingly out of nowhere. "Hey! Emigo's got the results! Come on, hurry!"
In the main room, Emigo sits on a blank stone tablet.

Emigo waves his tail, and text appears on the stone:
Shadowflight and Heavystrike(Ally) - Russetheart(Betray)
Brindlemask and Oceanfur(Betray) - Ilex(Betray)
Bramblewish(Betray) - Larkwing and Stonestreak(Ally)
Socks(Ally) - Ashpaw(Ally)
A beeping noise comes from each cat's bracelet.
Shadowflight's number is 1.
Heavystrike's number is 1.
Russetheart's number is 6.
Brindlemask's number remains 3.
Oceanfur's number remains 3.
Ilex's number remains 3.
Bramblewish's number is 6.
Larkwing's number is 1.
Stonestreak's number is 1.
Socks's number is 5.
Ashpaw's number is 5.

Larkwing felt like her heart had sank, as she stared down at the meager one on her band. She was in too much shock at the moment to feel anger.

(*leans back* Let the chaos commence)
"I see many of you chose to betray... a wise choice for half of the betrayers. As I said, not everyone will escape," Emigo meows, narrowing his blue eyes.

[Larkwing is in notable shock... Both her and Stonemask were rather cheerful cats, and I didn't even expect Bramblewish to pull a Betray so quickly... It's the first vote, I didn't think cats would be so eager to kill total strangers.)

'Voting is the only reliable way...' That piece of text rang in Larkwing's ears. There was still hope, Voting was the only certain way to raise the number, but it wasn't the only way, surely?

(So..What happens now? PS. BRINDLEMASK DONT DIE!!) (Things only happen if the numbers reach 0, anyone's number reaches 9, or the entire round ends. So, Brindle is fine. For now. Emigo will activate the doors for the next trial shortly~)
