An hour passes, and the container is open. We can clearly see if the cat is dead or alive. But what if we didn't know the result yet? Could you say for certain that the cat is either one? Try as you might, you must conclude that the cat is either dead or alive- or even, depending on the perspective, both alive and dead. Similarly, if you flip a two-sided coin and covered it with your hand, you can only assume with complete certainty that the coin is both sides up. This is because if you said it was one side, it could possibly be the other. An interesting topic, hmm? |
