Upper Camp cats include those who follow him willingly like Sharpear and Sharktooth. There are also cats who are related to Darkstar or any of his 'mates' like Galegust, Dartsplash and all their kits. Some cats who don't follow him are there against their will or are too afraid to leave like lightningbolt, cloverrain, and nettlefang.

The cats that are staying in upper camp with Darkstar are usually the ones that believe in darkstar, they believe that his way of ruling is right and does not like the soft and open leadership that Aurorastar has. However there are some cats that only stay in upper camp becuase they are scared that if they try to escape, Darkstar will kill them. Some, like Flintpaw, stay in the upper camp to help others escape and try to find out Darkstar weaknesses.

Others are forced to stay there and want to escape but can't. Others stay just because they like the Upper Camp and that is their home. They are somewhat ambiguous on the whole split.
