Ralif was a man who at first glance seemed easy to read, a poor peasant turned successful thief with foolish aspirations of nobility, but there seemed to be more to him than that. Perhaps not too much more, but he wasn't so one dimensional as to be predictable. That made him dangerous, possibly even traitorous. A questioning eyebrow was raised towards Sonal, and he would've thought the woman to be sarcastic were it anyone else, calling his admittedly showy cape usable. "You're the first person I've met that thinks that. It isn't just for looks. It's warm and thick if I need a blanket or a bed, mostly waterproof for rain or snow, and as a last resort I can unhook it and throw it at someone to tangle them like a net." His good eye looked back to the "path" they were following, not wanting to trip and seem a fool. She apparently was smarter than she looked, and he quietly reminded himself to not underestimate the woman again.
(Gah... Sorry that I've also been super inactive. Every time I settled down to write a post it felt like something came up, I'll try to make sure that it doesn't happen again.)

"You'll have to be fast Coran. Or you might end up there first!" Camilla teased and with a confident flick of her hair she took his hand and strode over to the guard, her steps almost a skip as if she were about to meet her favorite character from a play. She was nervous, the Royal family and their ever so humble army were not to be messed with, most of the crew had probably experienced what it was like to be on the wrong side of the law. Luckily, Camilla hadn't really ever broken one, not any that counted enough to draw attention to herself. She also had the advantage of travel and communication with the locals of each destination she visited. "Excuse me." She said, voice soft in a shy tone, but loud enough to be heard and acknowledged. The guard had longer hair than many military men, but a generally friendly face despite him being taller and more intimidating than he had looked far away.
(Yeah a big thing happened on TWD last night ;_; honestly Carl Grimes is a thug these days he's so tough I feel like he would be teenage Kain tbh haha) Yeah burning down the building would definitely light a fire in Heath's heart for revenge. It humiliated him and destroyed his place of work and a ton of his documents and awards and stuff. Maybe that was why he whipped her??)

Soren had been watching the two bicker... No, that wasn't the right word for what had been transpiring between the out of place pair, perhaps bantering was more accurate. Whatever the case, his gaze still had a friendly light to it; the corners of his mouth upturned in spite of the firm mask he tried to wear over his jovial personality. It was really quite difficult for a man like Soren to look grim and dour as so much of the Royal Guard did, even a buzz-cut and some scars wouldn't be enough to wipe off his nearly omni-present smirk. His eyes had followed Camilla with interest as she approached, so he was not taken aback when she spoke to him. "Yes?" While he was relaxed and far from suspicious of such a pretty face, he was a Royal Guard with the training to match.

It's ok happy, I get what you mean. Sometimes u just don't feel the need to write. Im crying he thinks sonal complimented him poor ralif. Kain would be a nightmare on twd he'd be so heartless Yeah, I think that'd be good! Destroy a building, get whipped, hold a grudge for the rest of your life. Sounds like a plan.)
Unsure of where he'd fished her meaning out of the water, Sonal decided to let this one go. She found it hard to believe no one else had ever said the cape was strange, and didn't figure out that she had mistaken her words, so just carried on in relative silence. They approached a forked path, each one as steep as the other, but one was leading away from town, "Check the map, we do not want to take a wrong turn so early." Whetu would never let her live it down, getting lost on such a basic landscape. The last thing that woman needed was something to get excited over.
"Hello!" Too eager. He schooled his features and voices a bit better, clearing his throat as if the dust from the sand was bothering him, "We're not really from around here," He let out a nervous giggle, "As if that wasn't obvious! Do you come here often?" He tried, before inwardly screaming quite loudly, You're scooping him for information! Not chatting him up! "On duty, I mean. Like, do you know your way around?" He added, as casually as one could. Out of habit, he found his hand sneaking down to tickle Conall's ears, and the lack of dog was a sickening blow to his gut, so he stuffed his hand in his pocket instead.

(Yeah, he hasn't quite picked up on Sonal's illiteracy yet. XD)
Railf was comfortable in the silence, he felt absolutely no need to fill it with inane babble like so many would. Being a thief for so many years meant that quiet soon became one's best friend, well, so long as you were actually good at what you did. Ralif was. A testament to that, he pulled the map out of his pocket without a sound, unfolding it and checking the markings once he ascertained that he was looking at it correctly. "It looks like we're heading away from town, no surprise there." A bead of sweat dropped from his forehead onto the map, the heat of Kydos already starting to get to him. Black was stylish still, but less practical for a volcanic romp than for breaking and entering. "You're welcome to take a look for yourself if you don't believe me." There was his ego speaking, a subtle little test for his companion really, to see if she thought herself better than him at reading the map.
Soren had tried on several different occasions to join the conversation Coran was offering, but every time he opened his mouth the boy spoke again. Still, it was an amused smile at the obvious nervousness rather than a suspicious glare. "I can tell the both of you don't visit Kydos much, you both have a lack of scars and a glut of teeth to be natives." His eyes sparkled at what he thought was a witty little comment, but he didn't wait for them to laugh. "I can help you find someone you're looking for, if you'd like?" Though unintentionally he'd completely evaded the question, at least he had offered to escort them anywhere they needed. A ray of sun glinted off the gold of his armor which was expected, but it also drew attention to the ring on his finger that bore the crest of a noble house.

"I trust your map reading abilities." She deferred to him with a brief nod, she knew that any notes written to help them on their path would've flown by her, and she would not end up eaten by a harpy because she couldn't read Coran's writing. Her pride had taken worse in the past then letting Ralif do the tracking, he seemed the sort to know his way around twisty paths without being seen. She was more a jack-of-all-trades in the heavy-lifting field of work, though she was notably stealthy despite her size. She wasn't sweaty quite as much, dressed in light, loose clothing, but her thick dark hair and the sheer mass of her body was attracting a lot of heat, so she tricked to keep to whatever shade she could find. They were gradually getting higher, and could now see directly down onto the town, "This place has not changed at all since I was last here. It's like it got left behind." She admitted, her head tilting at the thought of a time-pocket.
The plan had really been to let Camilla do most of the talking, but now that he'd started it, Coran was acutely aware that it would look odd if he didn't follow it up, "Oh, I suppose we are a little conspicuous." The guard's friendly manner was helping his nerves a bit, he seemed like a nice guy, but the tiny part of him, that had was growing significantly larger every day on this ship, was telling him that appearances were deceiving. Coran had fallen badly at the hands of smiling boys with pleasant voices before and he kept reminding himself that this man was a guard, and the enemy. He patted Camilla's arm lovingly, "We were really just passing through the town, looking for a way to kill time. Someone we know is off hunting, though he didn't warn us that there would be so little for us to do before we agreed to come." He cats a glance around the town, pushing his glasses up his nose again, they were sliding down in the sweat the sun caused.

Satisfied by her answer Ralif nodded, folding the map back up as he led the way away from the village, if the ramshackle buildings of Kydos could even be called that. It was rather a charity to refer to anything on the island as civilization. He nodded at Sonal's comment, taking the woman's words to heart. He'd never visited the place before, and rather hoped this was his only foray onto it. "This place can't be touched by man, it'd kill them before they got the chance to change anything. It's not surprising it's the exact same."
Soren laughed slightly at Coran's explanation, a few wisps of dark red hair-a color rather unusual for a man-doing their best to break past his headband and get in his eyes, a struggle he fought daily with his hair. He could certainly cut it, but he had no desire to look like every other member of the royal guard. If he wasn't approachable and friendly, he might never get the chance to do any good, only enforce laws. There was some overlap of course, but there was more to helping people than following some letters written down in a huge ledger. "Well, that's hardly very kind of them. Leaving you in a place like Kydos would be grounds enough to take the first ship back, it's hardly a hospitable place for tourists here. A smile kept toying at the corners of his lips, yet another battle he lost on a daily basis. "Is there something a member of the royal guard can do to help the pair of you out?"

Camilla fought the urge to cringe at Coran's over eager mannerisms. She could tell he was nervous, but he was settling and becoming more convincing which made her proud. Unlike most of the crew, she had faith in the wiry boy and knew he was a quick study. The guard was friendly, and cute, which was certainly a bonus. "It wasn't the most considerate of decisions, surely." She agreed and pouted slightly. "He advertised this as a wonderful vacation for all of us. I could lie on the soft sand of the beach and Coran could find a nice library. He said if was so close to Clerous that some of the elegance wore off on this island. Silly us, being from Egring, we don't get out much." She gave a slightly laugh and twirled a piece of her auburn hair with a slight shrug. "I know you're on duty and we wouldn't want you to get in trouble, but maybe you could tell us some stories and keep the locals away? Coran gets a bit antsy." She nudged him teasingly.

Soren smiled at Camilla, chuckling softly at the apparent misdirection their friend had given them about Kydos. Anyone who knew anything about the place knew that it was to be avoided at all costs unless you were an adrenaline seeker, whether that came from big game hunting or from trying to tangle with the locals. In all likelihood, the first was probably less dangerous. At the suggestion of stories his mouth curled into a wry smirk, and after glancing around to make sure he wouldn't get in trouble, a short nod-causing his auburn bangs to bounce- he nodded. "I suppose that I can, it is my job to keep people safe. What kind of stories are you interested in?"

sorry I haven't been on,,, the spook season is kind of kickng my ass,, )
"I wonder if anyone would even miss this place if it vanished." She muttered, starting off the path again, "Other then those who live here, of course." Then again, maybe even they wouldn't mind it too much. The afterlife was a lot softer then this island, or at least, that was what Sonal believed anyway. For such a war-prone woman, she was oddly religious. "I wouldn't, but I am confident that Whetu would find another dangerous island for us to parade around on. Maybe somewhere with poisonous air to breathe." She tilted her head back, shading her eyes with one large hand, to take in the steep incline up ahead, it was nearly vertical in places.
Glad Camilla was stepping in, he smiled and nodded along with her when she spoke and reacted as expected when he was mentioned. She hadn't broken stride once since talking to the guard, and he admired and envied her in equal measures (there was also a small part of fear, and a mental note to not underestimate her acting abilities in the future.) "Any great adventures?" He asked, tilting his head this way and that, "I imagine near misses and close scrapes come with the job as much as the uniform does." He gestured lightly from the guard's head to his feet, trying to ignore the sword and the fact he probably had a gun as well.

(No worries, rough time for all of us I think.)
"I doubt it. Place is a hellhole, only good for people rich enough to afford guards to do the hunting for 'em. If it was gone it'd be a minor shock at best." Ralif's voice held a surprisingly bitter note to it, perhaps because he was not one of those rich enough? Or perhaps there was another reason, he seemed to have a hidden side with how plain his tongue had become once they were alone. "If it's got enough gold to be worth it I'm fine with a bit of poison air, as long as I live long enough to reap my rewards." He too, looked up at the path ahead of them, a frown growing underneath his mask at the work ahead.
"Well," a thumb and forefinger on his chin and his eyes drifting skyward gave Soren quite the pensive look, as if he was really searching for the most grandiose adventure he'd had yet as a guard, "I'm afraid I don't have anything that's worth writing home about, I haven't been a guard too long you see, but I have a few tales. Maybe a bit exaggerated, but what's the fun if they aren't?" He chuckled, a warm sound that could put a tense man at ease, shaking his head. "One time I was chasing down this thief wanted for murder, it was the perfect setting really. Evening, dark clouds spitting rain over the city, cobblestones slick to the touch, on my own chasing some rogue. That an interesting enough story to tell?" He smiled towards the both of them, truly buying into their act.

"Treasure is always hidden uphill." She muttered, starting off again. The slope down to the ravine of the town was growing steeper by the second. It wasn't that she was scared of height, per say, it was simply unnerving to see how far she could fall. To avoid dizziness, she kept her dark eyes dead ahead, not sparing the slope a second glance, "I am not sure I could traipse anywhere for money, I feel like there are certain places I wouldn't go. Then again, I am here, of all places." The ground beneath her was dusty and clung to her clothes as her heavy feet left prints where she'd been, "Is there anything you wouldn't do for money, raider?" she asked, sparing a glance back at him, "Or do you have some kind of moral compass?"
Reading had been his only friend as a child (Conall was his first dog, and any other animal on the farm was either eaten, working or sold), and a part of Coran was actually curious to this man's story: their lives were so different at a first glance after all. He couldn't imagine growing up in the sun soaked city, surrounded by alabaster and orange groves, his home was, and always would be, dark wood and low clouds. So he didn't have to fake the light had flashed in his eyes at the mention of a proper tale from a first hand experience. Despite his life on the sea, the last year or two had been largely uneventful, only the occasional storm shaking things up, "Sounds good! Though I can't imagine it ever raining in this part of the world." He let his gaze drift towards the endless blue sky, and tried not to think of the sea behind them, where the ship lay.

Ralif was quick up the hill as well, wanting to be rid of this godforsaken place. Its people were brutish, the land inhospitable, and most importantly the accursed, infernal dust was just clinging to his black clothes, which was an absolute travesty. If it didn't wash out he'd be stealing quite the new wardrobe from some unlucky merchant the next time he could. A rather annoyed glance, the kind with a furrowed eyebrow and slight glower, was shot Sonal's way when she asked him about his moral compass. It certainly came across as an accusation and he wasn't fond of that. "Quite a bit actually, in fact I'm likely one of the more innocent ones aboard our ship. I don't do violence unless I have to, it's unbecoming and even further than that unnecessary. I know my way around a fight, but it's a far more useful skill to be able to avoid one. I also don't steal from the poor, they've nothing worth taking. Besides, there's no challenge in breaking into an unguarded, unlocked, ramshackle hut." Blackmail, extortion, threats, even "harmless" kidnapping were still on the table for the right price, but Ralif didn't like dirtying his hands.
"And that, my good man, is exactly what made it so special." Soren winked, a twinkle in his eyes from being able to entertain the two. He was rather charismatic, especially for a guard, and had a certain affability to himself that just made him... approachable. Even with the gold armor and gun holster strapped to the small of his back, he still seemed like a guy you'd meet at a tavern and pay for his drink to listen to him talk. Noble and a guard he may have been by blood, but certainly not by attitude. "Terrible storm had rolled in, probably the only one of its kind for the next few decades. I was supposed to be doing a patrol with another new recruit, but he didn't show. So there I was, all by myself, with a heavy rain soaking me straight to the bone and my armor encasing me like a submerged turtle. I was rounding the corner to an alleyway, this seedy little one that had a reputation, and over the chattering of my teeth and rain hitting the cobblestones I heard it. This faint voice calling for help." He paused, looking to see if his words were having the effect he wanted.

If she noticed how her question had annoyed him, Sonal didn't seem to care, and certainly didn't show it. As far as she was concerned, Whetu had hired a bunch of wanted criminals with little to no recordable background on any of them. Ralif could be a human-trafficker or a simple pick-pocket; either way, Sonal's level of care didn't extend to hurting his feelings. She actually snorted when he referred to violence as 'unbecoming', unable to stop the eye roll that came ot her naturally, "You talk more like the navigator then I would have expected." She admitted, bracing one hand on her knee to add more leverage to her upwards steps. "I have never worked with people who are affronted by violence before, this must be the cleanest crew I have ever been on. Though, in my experience, 'innocent' people do not run around wearing masks." She was not necessarily an instigator by heart, but from her simple upbringing, she had learnt to find fun wherever she could years ago, and teasing people was one of the oldest tricks in the book. Even if that person could be heavily armed and dangerous.
His vivid imagination was in play for the first time in a few months, so much of his time had been dedicated to finding the map and plotting courses, that he hadn't read anything for fun in weeks now. It wasn't difficult for Coran to visualize something, he simply used the docks and streets he'd been on yesterday, trying to imagine what such a place would look like covered in rain and devoid of people. He played on his surprise a little at the mention of someone in need and slowly blinked his big eyes accordingly, grasping Camilla's arm closer. "Who was it?" He asked, like a child watching a street puppet show, calling up what expected questions and answers. Soren was a good storyteller, if he wasn't covered head-to-toe in gold it would be easy to forget his occupation. Something about him screamed luxury and, if Coran had to guess, he was probably a lord's son of some kind. Even on Pluid Bria you learnt to spot little traits of high class - easier emotions, less weathered faces, people who asked less questions and gave more orders.

Camilla leaned forward too, her green eyes bright with excitement as Soren spoke of his life, he painted the picture well with the grace of a storyteller. Her mother had read to her as a child, then her father as they traveled, her favorites had been the romances of course, but adventure had always caught her attention. "Did you have to fight him? A wanted murderer must be quite frightening." She asked eagerly, her arm tightly around Coran's with her ringed fingers digging into his arm slightly with anticipation, but not enough to hurt. She decided she liked this guard, he was nicer than she had expected and made their pretending easier since she truly liked having a conversation with him. She assumed he was the best out of the guards though, since she had heard horror stories about Heath and his little protege didn't seem much better since she always seemed to be tense and mildly irritated according to stories.

(Congrats on getting into the nursing program! ^_^ You'll do super awesome!)
Ralif grew tense at her words, nefarious thoughts already filling his mind about Sonal and what kind of "accidents" could befall the woman aboard their ship. He had a bit of a temper for sure, though thankfully he'd grown enough to keep it in check so that a gun was not drawn and a bullet not fired. "It's amazing what you can get away with if you're quiet about what you do, sparing even. Unlike you lot I'm smart enough that nothing I've done can be pinned on me." While he'd just admitted to finding violence brutish, that didn't mean he was above it. Only his ego was, and it conveniently ignored the times he had actually gotten down and dirty to maintain his general air of superiority. To put it lightly, his stolen revolver wasn't just for show. "And unlike the navigator, I've no moral problem with violence. Only a practical one."
Soren's smile grew, his focus now entirely on crafting his story to entertain these two. It was a good thing that he wasn't officially supposed to be keeping an eye out, (though little good that excuse would do should his superiors find him chatting away like this), caught up in this like he was. A slight nod was sent to Camilla, as if to say he'd get there, before his words once again flowing freely, weaving into a tale of adventure and intrigue. "That, my friend, is exactly what I was wondering myself. Now at first, I didn't know if I'd heard right, I thought maybe my chattering teeth were playing tricks on me, but when I heard it again I dashed forward into the alley in search of whoever needed my help. Not all that gallantly, I nearly tripped and stabbed myself, but I managed to keep my footing long enough to find a young woman outside, a troubling sight given the weather, and could immediately tell she was the one who'd been calling for help." He brushed a hand against his forehead, wiping the sweat off as he so wished for the rain he was speaking of. "Not a moment went by-I didn't even have to ask her a question- before she told me she'd been robbed, and the thief set off around the corner. From her description I knew who it was." A pause for dramatic effect. "Victor Streham. Murderer, robber, the man who'd tried to kill two royal guards and nearly succeeded. I drew my gun and raced off after him."

that seems like a fair trade,,, i got a big enough house like, but be warned i take my food very seriously. its an art)
At the 'unlike you lot' she had to be careful not to snort again, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. Her back was to him, but she could imagine Ralif getting annoyed, and though a part of her was begging her to be more careful with who she annoyed, Sonal was restless. She'd been seasick twice in so many days, was stuck on an island crawling with Royal Guards, and had nothing waiting for her to get back to but a high-strung Whetu and the rest of their motley crew. Poking fun at a man who clearly didn't get poked fun at enough was a good way to unwind some of the stress that had been building up at the base of her neck, the way it often did when she was feeling particularly grumpy. "A problem is a problem." She shrugged, leaning to the right as the path veered off slightly, "If any of the brawls get too much for you, I will happily sling you over my shoulder and run out." She promised, one hand flat over her heart. "I am surprisingly fast, and people tend to get out of my way when I get speed going."
Coran had never heard of Victor Streham and was honestly just thankful that he hadn't said 'Kain Aster' or 'Whetu Cynwrig' because he wasn't sure that his newfound acting abilities could cover that spike of fear. All the same, he let his eyes widen and turned his mouth into a small 'o', huddling closer to his supposed sister, "Oh my goodness! On your own?" That part wasn't really acting, Coran had gotten used to Conall's presence a long time ago, and found that going anywhere solo vaguely unnerving these days. He wouldn't have run after anyone alone at night in the rain, not for any amount of money. "Did you catch him?" He was starting to hope that this guard had, because although the world was full of murderers and cutthroats, it was nice to think someone was out there culling the competition.

(Literally sitting in bed because I'm so startled about today and my future ugh) (Should Heath come over? And should we have the remaining characters make land?)
"Oh my, how dangerous. I cannot imagine being near a murder, let alone having to chase one down all by myself!" She exclaimed in shock, her green eyes wide has he told his story. It was an interesting story of course, and the man telling it truly seemed kind, but she kept a straight face when all she wanted to do was laugh at the irony of her comments. Their crew was made up of those kinds of people with the exception of her and Coran. She leaned forward with anticipation, her arm still locked with Coran's as they both listened to the guard with a knack for storytelling.

(Sorry, been busy the past few days. Should be able to be more active from here.) (We can have Heath come over if you guys would like.)
Ralif had assumed that Sonal would be the easiest traveling partner amongst the crew, quiet and no-nonsense, though he was finding that assessment more and more inaccurate with every passing moment. In fact, he realized the more he spent time with any individual on this boat the more he grew to dislike them. Perhaps he'd cut his losses at the next hospitable harbor with a wealthy population to rob. "You quite obviously don't understand the difference I'm trying to make here, and the sun is bothersome enough without me also trying to explain it to you. Let me put it as dumbly as I can, I'll kill someone if I have to. I try to avoid getting to that point." He rolled his good eye, quickly checking the map to make sure they were going the right way still, before falling into silence. A rather aggravated one at that.
"Yes, alone. Unfortunately one of the perils about actually doing your job on a day like that." Soren sighed just a touch, running a hand through his locks of hair. His gaze shifted momentarily to the ground, rather embarrassed to have these two quite so enthralled in his supposed bravery, but he didn't let that last. Couldn't disappoint a crowd after all, especially when these siblings were the only people on Kydos worth talking to. "When I turned that corner I could barely see him, the rain was as thick as most fogs, but he was the only other person out there. No one else was brave or criminal enough to be out in weather like that." A slight chuckle escaped his lips. "I gave warning, but one way or another it fell on deaf ears. Thankfully Streham wasn't all that quick, and soon I had cornered after he took a wrong turn down a dead end."

"Ah, I understand now." She nodded sagely, exaggerated and irksome. "Thank you for taking the time to explain that to me. I am easily confused." The sweat was rolling off her in thick rivers now, which was quite disgusting, but nothing she couldn't handle. That was the downside to wear pale clothes, sweat marks showed up easier, so did blood. She should really start wearing more red. She braced herself against a large boulder and used it to push herself further up. The climb was as steep as it looked like it was going to get, and she was eager for the crest on the horizon. Her legs didn't seem to be getting too tired, they'd walked harder and longer distances then this, but the heat was frying her brains. If she wasn't careful, she'd topple over the edge of the cliff and fall right down into the town. "Would you like some water?" She asked, offering her flash back behind her, shielding the sun out of her eyes with her hand.
He nodded along, big eyes and small mouth, that was a part of the story he believed alright. That city was a maze of winding streets and narrow alleys, he'd gotten lost himself more then once (not a good sign in a navigator), "He wasn't armed, was he?" This was a stupid question, but he needed to ask something, going without talking for too long in these situations made him jittery and nervous. His right leg had started bouncing uncontrollably on the spot and he knew it wouldn't stop until he was moving again, so did his best to ignore it. Hopefully this guard wouldn't find it too unusual, just a tourist with a nervous leg.
Whetu pitched forwards, nearly flinging herself over the railings of the boat. She felt cornered and agitated, that gaudy ship glaring at her on the distance. She was much calmer, and seemed to have lost some of that steely grin from earlier, but she was still going long periods without blinking and was uncharacteristically quiet. She could hear his voice in her head, see his snarls and his sneers, dozens of feet stamping in unison down paved paths, gold and gleaming. Her head was tilted as she observed the town and the ocean with a detached curiosity, they didn't seem very significant to her right now. "We're boarding. It's been long enough, and it's too cold here at night to travel. We're not wasting anymore time." She spoke suddenly, shrugging off her black coat, revealing her cutlass and flintlock pistol. She always seemed to be carrying something incriminating when Iratus showed up. Bad luck, she supposed.

(It's okay glad to have you back! I think we've all been busy tbh Yes I celebrate thanksgiving! So excited to go home and see my friends and family!)
Camilla leaned in, she assumed the villain in the story would have a weapon, or it wouldn't be much of a fight, but she waited for the guard to continue. "Soren!" Barked a voice as a tall broad framed figure rounded the corner. His stone grey eyes narrowed to a squint, honey blonde hair styled perfectly and his lips set in a tight line that suggested he didn't smile often. "What in the gods good names do you think you're doing?" He demanded, his voice a snarl and his eyes flickered between Camilla and Coran with a judgemental gaze.
Kain shrugged a little and pushed off from where he had been leaning against the side of the ship, his expression went from thoughtful to curious as he arched a brow in Whetu's direction. "Really? You're ready to go even if the royal guard may spot us. We can only assume Camilla and Coran will not be able to distract them all." He questioned, his arms crossed over his chest. Whatever choice she made he didn't mind, the situation was strange in itself and when he thought out possible outcomes he wasn't too concerned, he doubted the guard could get ahold of them. Xavier pinched his lower lip nervously, "I'm not to keen on prison, but hell, I'm always down for a run in with the guard. I like to show off how much faster I am to the draw then they could ever hope to be." The tall man pulled one of his pistols and gave it a spin to demonstrate.

(Yeah, definitely, we've all had some stuff going on for sure. XD Nice to see you again though!) (Yep, can't wait to be with family and not in college for a little bit. Also my birthday's on Thanksgiving this year and all, so there's that too haha)
Ralif was not showing the exertion of the climb near as much as his temporary traveling partner, though that was only because a small portion of his face was visible and his clothes were a thick black, somehow evading the dust that permeated the air of Kydos. Magic seemed the only explanation, but they still had a ways yet to go and it was unlikely that whatever fashionable luck had struck the thief was going to stick around. Even so, his brow was damp with sweat and his good eye was narrowed in a combination of annoyance and tiredness. At the mention of water however, a slight bit of that irritation faded. "Yes, thank you." He took it and took a swig, before offering it back to her. A small patch of gravel gave way beneath his foot as he took a step, threatening to send him hurtling to the small town below, but in a passing display of deftness he managed to catch himself just in time to ward off that rather gruesome fate. "Hmph. Kydos, where even the ground is trying to kill you."
An answer to Coran's question was escaping Soren just as his captain rounded the corner;it never ended up coming to fruition. "Oh, uh, sir!" He jumped at the sound of Heath's voice, story-telling smile replaced by a nervous neutral expression. His back straightened, feet came together, and his arm raised up in a salute as his eyes were torn off of the two tourists he'd been neglecting his duties for. He was going to be in trouble. Shoot. A liar he was not though, nor was he one to try and bluff his way out of a situation. If a punishment was coming his way, he'd take it like a man. At least his captain had to respect that-to a point. "I neglected my duties by being distracted sir, these two" he nodded towards Camilla and Conal, hand still firmly against his head in a gesture of respect, "are not from the island and desired protection from the locals. As I've not yet received notice of those we're supposed to capture disembarking, I let my guard slip. Sir."
