[[ Living Room || Arlo || dawn ]] "You probably thought right." Arlo pushed herself up into a sitting position, wincing at the pressure on her mostly healed arm... and everything else. Still, she managed a weak smile as she looked at Rae, barely believing that she was really there. "Me and a... friend of mine were in a plane. We crashed and, well... apparently I died." She looked down at her tattered and bloody cloths. That was another thing she was having a hard time believing. She'd actually died outside the House and come back. "I'm alright now though, or I will be at least- It'll probably be awhile before I can heal completely."If she'd been in slightly better condition she probably would have said that she was fine and that she didn't want to ruin it, but she was not. She slipped out of her own coat and took the jacket, glancing down at her arms which were covered in various cuts and scrapes as well as black scars every here and there. As a result of her loss of energy, her tattoos had faded to a dull greenish silver. "Thanks," she murmured.

The lights on Volt's helmet glittered in amusement as Neb flexed. She was a little surprised the girl could take it so lightly, but then again she had an air about her similar to some of the older warriors. Volt didn't take her down, but someone had and yet she still survived to joke about it. At Neb’s question, Volt glanced back over her shoulder to the swords before shaking her head. “They act as conduits, nothing more.” A slight laugh entered her voice. “I would be called “Volt” with or without them.” The Tenno held up one hand and allowed a small spark to jump between her metal-plated fingers. “And what about you? Is ‘Nebula Star’ your name or was it a title given because of your shapeshifting? dawn ))

She had trouble taking at face value that Arlo was fine, but she was sitting here awake and breathing so that was something. But still. "Well, I'm glad you're alive. But how? If you really did..." Rae knew it wasn't a first time for Arlo, but she had only ever heard about those moments from Kaia so it must have just been caused by the House, not a real life in-your-own-world thing. Rae couldn't help but glance over Arlo's arms when she took her jacket, frowning at the different wounds. She raised a hand and offered her palm to Arlo, a bit of energy lighting her skin. "I can help ease some it, if you'd like." »ƑαƖcση"Oh, I see." Neb watched closely as Volt showed off a spark and she nodded, satisfied. "That's cool!" She put her arms behind her head as she gave a couple of hops over another patch of roots. As her own name was brought up, she took a moment, knowing it could be simple to brush off Volt's question, but she thought of another way she could answer. "Mmm, it's my name," Neb said. "It's the only one that felt right to me, though I guess it's sort of a title too. The powers fitting are just a plus," she added with a small laugh.

Of course The Doctor was still listening, mostly to the odd and unusual origin of Ononoki. Commenting, however, would probably just lead to questions of 'why'. So, of course, she asked. "Why would they do that?" she hummed. "Did they want somethin'?" She wondered what exactly Ononoki, well ... felt about all that. If she did at all. Neb's question about science or magic was a bit telling. The Doctor hadn't actually been considering magic. She was more likely to try and find the scientific reasons. But clearly it was an option - at least here it was. And of course, the House decided it would be a good time to interrupt. Not that The Doctor would be thinking in such terms yet. There was no warning growl this time ... perhaps because this not-a-wolf had wings. And why tell anyone you were coming? It leaped out of the trees, aiming for the tallest person in the group. Which was suicidally Volt.

Volt cocked her head in a way that indicated a question, but before she could ask, she was ambushed from above. The only warning was a violent rustling of branches as another wolf dropped from the trees. The Tenno didn't even have time to draw her swords before she was knocked to the ground, momentarily pinned beneath the weight of the furry, fleshy beast. Scraping could be heard as the wolf's fangs met Volt's armor and she locked her hands around the beast's neck, struggling to throw it off. This one seemed bigger than the last, the wings clapping against the ground and throwing debris into the air as the wolf snarled and fought. "Neb! GET BACK." Electricity cracked off of Volt's body, scorching the dead leaves on the forest floor beneath her and any plants that happened to be too close. As soon as the girl was clear, it would be released.

At Neb's response, Ononoki stared upward only a moment longer before lowering her head. She was used to others being interested in how exactly she worked. But except for direct questions, she wasn't about to share the information. She didn't even know the full story, but she could infer because she knew well enough the people who had created her. On the note of knowing people, she was starting to get to know The Doctor, and it was clear that there were more questions for this other blinker. The doll girl turned her face toward her, as if she had to swivel her neck like an owl just to see what was to one side. Her feet didn't stop. "They wanted to learn. Learn how to do it," she told her. It was as simple as that. She existed now, for something as simple as that. Well, it was't only the creation aspect that was the goal, because it's also handy to have an extra vessel around. In fact, she was the a contributing factor to a bitter feud between two of these students when they couldn't agree on ownership of her. Ononoki kept walking after the wolf appeared, but not after Volt yelled from behind her. Perhaps there was a difference between a threat appearing and someone actually being in danger. She turned toward the scuffle with the new enemy and looked on with her arms at her sides, eerily patient in the face of danger.

Digging her fingers into the thick fur around the wolf's neck, Volt discharged --a living taser. She could feel the creature go stiff as electricity coursed through its body and for a moment she battled her instinct to just end the threat. However, with no one else in immediate danger and The Doctor's words ringing in the back of her head, the Tenno cut her power before the wolf died. Volt pushed the wolf to the side as it collapsed, limp but still breathing. Sort of. She rolled to the side and got to her knees, dirt and leaves stuck to various parts of her armor. After a second, she looked up to check the others and noticed Neb's hands glowing with the same power as the first time Volt had spotted her in the tree. Just like before, she had been willing to jump in. "I'll let you get it the next time, swear." There was a hint of joking in her tone

Ononoki had luckily been standing just outside the radius of Volt's attack, the toes of her yellow galoshes uncomfortably close. Her skirt swayed, then settled, and she seemed to be staring through the incapacitated wolf-creature as she examined it. "You did it, Electric Sister," she congratulated Volt, "...I said with a posed look." And, having expelled her quota of enthusiasm for the day, she turned forward again and stepped her foot out to keep walking. It probably wasn't going to do her much good to keep walking though, especially so aimlessly. But this was her primary method of getting out of rooms since her first blink, and while she walked she could simultaneously formulate other ideas for how to escape.

[[ Living Room || Arlo || dawn ]] "I... I honestly don't know," Arlo admitted as she put the jacket on. She reached up to touch the arrowhead on her necklace. Every time she thought that she'd started to understand it's magic it found a new way to surprise her. Right now she appreciated it, but it still felt strange. "I guess it's from this. A power I didn't know about." Her gaze darted to the energy on Rae's hand and lingered there for a few moments before returning to her face. She was very tempted to say yes as she really did need energy, but she was afraid of what could happen. "I don't know... Sometimes my powers can be a bit hard to control. Thanks though."

There were several breathless moments for The Doctor when she wasn't sure what was going to happen. Her hand had already flown to her pocket, pulling out her sonic, but Volt was faster. And to her surprise, it didn't result in the wolf's death. Hesitantly, she took a few steps over to where the stunned wolf was, waving her sonic over it a couple of times ... only it didn't seem to be scanning. Frowning, she hit it once, because that solved everything. Nothing changed. "Odd," she muttered, worried, but shoved it back into a pocket. To Volt, she asked, "Are ya alright?" Her voice was full of concern. But she straightened as she saw Ononoki continue. "Stop please!" she called after the girl. It didn't seem like they were heading for anything by just walking around. Instead she glanced at Neb. "Could it be possible this isn't a 'survive till the end' room? Maybe there's a clue or puzzle with da wolves?"

Ononoki’s knees gradually straightened out until they could no longer bend and propel her striped legs forward. She had listened to The Doctor, and now she was turning back around to face the group with her vacant stare. The doll girl even took several steps in their direction, ending up close to The Doctor seeing as she had been the one who called for her. She reminded her of Kagenui to an extent; or maybe it was Volt who reminded her more of her master because of her relentless nature. “If there is a puzzle, I don’t know what it is,” she said in monotone. “I can take care of them,” she offered, and raised one open hand as if as a kid in a frilly dress was normally capable of fighting monsters twice her size.

Volt got back to her feet and brushed some of the litter off of herself, keeping a wary eye on the wolf. At Ononoki's words though, she looked up to see the small corpse girl setting off again on her own. The Doctor beat her to calling the girl back though, and to her surprise, Ononoki actually seemed to listen. The Tenno pulled a stick out of the crest of her helmet. "I'm fine, just wasn't expecting an aerial attack. What's that?" She watched the Doctor point an odd silver tool at the incapacitated wolf before the woman stuck it back in her pocket. The woman's question was valid one, and Volt crouched down to examine the creature closer. It seemed so much smaller laying still on the ground. After a little while, a couple of puzzle pieces seemed to fall into place. "These are predators," She noted, pulling back the jowls to reveal the wolf's pointed fangs, "but I have not seen anything in this place for them to eat. Do you think that is important?" Razzle Dazzle »ƑαƖcση mintedstar/furNeb used an arm to partially cover her eyes as the electricity crackled around Volt and the wolf. When all was done and the creature lay motionless, she assumed the obvious, though after just a moment Neb noticed the faint rise of its flank and she cast a glance up as Volt got to her feet, a bit surprised at the outcome. She did smirk a bit at what the Tenno said. "I need to up my game I guess."
As Ononoki once again began to march onward and the Doctor's call made her stop, Neb put up her hands. "Okay, let's wait a minute," she said, then turned back to the Doctor. "I mean yeah, anything's possible. Even if I'm used to certain things with the House, it can always change from the usual on a whim." Her eyes trailed back to the wolf and she moved to step over to it, wary as both Volt and the Doctor investigated it. "You were following a trail before, right?" Neb asked. "Maybe that was the right call from the start. We could try backtracking?" It shouldn't be hard, after all as far as Neb had been aware they'd been walking in a straight line.

"Maybe," The Doctor said, acknowledging Neb. "But lets say this is a puzzle. Then we were walkin' along this way for a while without anything happenin'. If we were goin' the wrong way, then we'd have probably known by now." She tapped her foot against the leaf-littered floor. "Plus, our friend here thought it would be a good idea to attack us." She glanced at Volt and then nodded. "True. I haven't seen anything for them to eat." Nothing large at any rate. She could still hear insects and perhaps the faint call of birds, but that was it. Not enough for predators to eat at any rate. "Perhaps," she said after a while. "We'd 'ave to find what they hunt?" She shrugged, completely unsure. She was used to walking just as much as the girl was - or talking her way through things - so far this was close to what she usually did, but it seemed a lot more fuzzy. "We could try the path again," she said to Neb. "That would work."

Volt listened to the two others discuss, looking back and forth between them as they spoke. "Paths generally lead to somewhere." She agreed, but there was still a bit of doubt in her tone. It really felt like they were missing something. It wasn't like they were in a hurry though, so she put the thought to rest hoping maybe it would come to her later. "It's worth a shot anyhow. Should we... uh..." The Tenno gestured to the wolf. "Just leave it?" That seemed like a bad idea.

--cato phoenix Rae watched Arlo touch her arrowhead, blinking slowly. She'd known Arlo to have have it for as long as she could remember. But to never know of a power like this? Though maybe that was a good thing; it meant she'd never been in such a situation before in her world. "I'm glad," Rae repeated softly. To think this blink could have been her stumbling in on Arlo's dead body instead if the House had so decided-- Rae shook the thought away. She offered Arlo an understanding smile. "That's okay. But I'm here to help if you ever need it. Does your friend know you're okay?" she then asked, "and did they...?" [[ Living Room || Arlo || dawn ]] "I appreciate it," Arlo replied, "And it's good to see you again- I'd started to think that you'd stopped blinking. How long have you been back?" She'd seen Rae twice after Kaia's death, but not for long enough to really talk to her.
"Jasper's the one who told me I'd died actually- he almost did too but I was able to heal him mostly." Between reversing her own death and the deaths of multiple blinkers earlier, she'd been unable to heal either of them completely. It had been a very long day. "It'll take a little while but he'll be alright... from this at least." She sighed and shook her head. "I don't know how many times I told him it was a bad idea to come with me."

The Doctor was a bit surprised at Volt's suggestion and amended some of her constantly changing thoughts of the Tenno. It appeared like this might indeed be a puzzle and maybe considering it as such would get them out of here. "Worth a try," she said to Neb. "Tell us if ya think it might be waking up." She turned, checking to see that there was still people to follow, and for the time being decided to take the lead before the blue haired girl did. For the time being - plus, old habit died never. The Time Lady began to pick her way back the way they had come, awareness levels as high as she could consider. Wolf-like-beings seemed to be able to come from the sky now. She wouldn't have been surprised if one burrowed out of the ground like a mole. But for now, heading back to the path would probably take a couple of minutes. She wasn't sure what was attracting the wolves' attention or if they wanted it or not, but her only hunch was their conversations. "Nebula Star," she asked, using the other 'blinker's' full name. "Ya mentioned you've been in the 'Paradox House' before. Is it just by luck ya blinked in or is there some way to ... trip whatever is bringin' someone in and out?" So far, she was thinking of the House like a machine. It made sense ...

"You do that," Volt replied to Neb's optimistic theory, in the same way someone might say 'good luck'. She held out absolutely no hope that there was any way to "make amends" with the wolf. Then the Tenno shrugged and her tone became less sarcastic. "I'm not sure if it will wake up. I wasn't exactly trained on how to keep things alive." She had succeeded in not killing it, but who was to know if she had fried it's nervous system? Waiting to find out if the previously hostile creature suddenly became nice seemed foolhardy. Volt watched as The Doctor turned back the way they had come. Thankfully with so many people walking together, it was relatively easy to see the trail they had stomped through the undergrowth. The woman seemed to be used to taking charge, and amusedly Volt wondered if that was part of the reason she had been so upset earlier. That line of thought was interrupted when The Doctor actually spoke up with a question for Neb. The Tenno shot a glance at the purple-haired girl, curious to hear her response.

Sherlock watched intently as Myrnin tried to copy his movements, sharp eyes taking in ever time he did something right, as well as something wrong. Several times he opened his mouth to correct the boy, almost reaching out a hand to do it himself, but he managed to stop himself before taking the toy from the little kid. It was hard to watch someone struggling to do something that was so simple for him without just doing it himself, but he could tell Myrnin wanted to learn, not just get it done. He could tell because that’s how he was, too. And seeing those bright green eyes light up was more than enough of a reward for him as the boy figured it out at last and dunked the toy, refilling it. He grinned back, a lopsided sort of expression as though he wasn’t used to doing it by accident. “‘Course we can.” He declared, spinning the water gun around his finger and spraying droplets of water from the outside in all directions. “There’s plenty we can do, it’d get pretty boring not to explore our options. What do you think we should do?” "I'm not sure," said Myrnin, looking over the large expanse of grass that really didn't contain much of anything. If they were in the forest, Myrnin knew several things they could have done for a game. He bounced on his heals, thinking about it, but still pretty unsure. What could they do ... what could they do ...? He looked over at the containers of water and then looked back at Sherlock, tilting his head. "Maybe we could do something with those? I'm not really sure." He'd never really had to come up with an idea for two players before. It was always just him playing or anyone he made up to do something. But the latter part didn't count. He wasn't at all sure how to play in a team and certainly not make up something they could both do. His face was a small mask of panic as he looked up at Sherlock, knowing that he was being a bother but not sure how not to be. (Sorry for the wait! ) Sherlock considered the toy in his hand for a few minutes, racking his brains to come up with a game that wasn’t competitive It was surprisingly hard to do. See who had better aim? Another fight chasing each other around? Everything he could think of involved playing against the other person. A quick glance at Myrnin’s barely masked panic told him that wasn’t going to fly, though. The kid clearly didn’t know how to play with someone else, instead of by himself or with imaginary players. “Yeah, me neither.” He said dismissively, and tossed the water gun over his shoulder as though he’d suddenly lost all interest in it. “Wanna go see what else this room has to offer?”

"We don't have to find what they hunt," Ononoki murmured at The Doctor's suggestion, her voice low as she spoke specifically to her. She still stood at her side, but didn't look up to acknowledge her in any physical manner. Then, she made her deduction, her bangs on one side casting a shadow but her vacant eye seeming to glow its bright green through it. "It means they were taken from elsewhere too." This time her monotone only made the assessment more ominous. She lowered her hand then, realizing that the other blinkers had decided to try different routes than brute force. When The Doctor had left her side to get the group moving again, she slowly began to step forward and then turned her body to follow, letting her feet track the other blinker's path seemingly on autopilot.

“Makes sense.” Kelsier have the black ribbon a closer look. It did look significant now that he was paying attention to it, although it had nothing specific about it. Probably because this club for nice vampires who don’t eat people anymore didn’t sound extremely public. “I’ve heard about the bats.” He continued thoughtfully, although he had to reach a bit for that knowledge. Hadn’t Sazed said something about a vampire cult once? He thought he’d mentioned it having something to do with bats and drinking blood. The mistborn burst out laughing at Maladicta’s comment about the bird, doubling over as it built up almost painfully in his chest before he released it. It took a moment for him to pull himself back together, and then he was breathless and his cheeks were flushed red as he straightened up and grinned. “Bedraggled? Me? I’m as far from bedraggled as it’s possible to get.” He extended both arms to show off the gray strips of his mistcloak, which moved separately enough to ripple but together enough to look part of the same shape the ripples made. “I’m mysterious and beautiful, and this cloak suits me perfectly.” The subject of his metals distracted him from that train of thought, and he pressed his lips together in thought. “Well, those are a few, although not silver so much and gold is practically useless. As for the rest, there’s ten in all and eight physical ones a mistborn can use. Two for every power, with opposite and equal strengths.” He was low on most of his metals at the moment, and unfortunately out of pewter entirely, but he pulled a coin from his pocket and showed it to the other blinker anyway. “For example, If a burn steel, I can Push this coin away from me.” He did, and the coin shot away, hitting the opposite wall with a light snap. It stayed there until he extinguished the metal and let it fall to the floor. “And if I burn iron, I can Pull it back towards me, like so.” The coin flipped and sped up into his hand. He caught it effortlessly and smiled, giving away how pleased he was to have an audience for this. He didn’t get to impress people on purpose very often. “There are others, and there are rules about how they work, but I’m low on them after our little adventure.” The vampire studied the mistborn and then shrugged. "The cloak," they pointed out. "And the hair ... no. I'm pretty sure pigeon was accurate." They rubbed the bottom of their chin, looking down their nose at Kelsier in a playful fashion. It seemed like they'd opened up a lot more. They reached up, adjusting the black ribbon (which had silver letter which said 'not one drop' on it which were only now visible). "Perhaps you should try dressing up less like you are preening?" Mal suggested. This from the vampire in all black and silver, with a widow's peak. They watched as Kelsier put on a show, looking impressed as he caused a coin to shoot from and then return to his hand. "That is impressive!" they admitted. "Seeing a bit more of what you could do when you had more to 'burn' would be very interesting." They had no idea what exactly the limitations were, but it was interesting to know. "Would it be possible to -" they started to ask, only to blink out before Mal could finish. (If you wanted me to reblink I can. But I thought new material to bring in on my end might be interesting. ^^ ) Kelsier snorted, but he was still grinning playfully and didn’t seem to mind his new pigeon title. “Oh yeah, because I’m the one that needs to stop preening.” He returned with a bit more emphasis than strictly necessary to make his point. He looked at the now visible words curiously, guessing their meaning without much difficulty. “Huh. I suppose that’s how you can find other members without knowing who they are?” He mused, noting the ease with which the vampire could hide and reveal the words. “Pewter is for increased physical abilities.” He explained. “The one that made me able to left you away from the noise and keep up when we were running. I’m out of it because it burns faster than my other metals, and I had to flare it - use it up faster for more strength - several times. Tin is the opposite metal, and enhances all five of my senses. I was using that to see if it would help me see what the invisible animals were.” He would have gone on, but he blinked out at the exact same moment the other blinker did. (ooh good idea. My Kel muse is tired atm so maybe not right this minute, but these two have to interact more. )

Razzle Dazzle »ƑαƖcση mintedstar/furHearing Ononoki's words, Neb frowned to herself. It was always possible that these things weren't House-made and that they actually came from a world of their own. It still begged the question of just what made the creatures so special then to have them be the highlight of the room.
"Still, it's worth a shot." Neb shrugged in response. But still, to err on the side of caution, she thought it better if her human body wasn't at risk. Once again dark energy cloaked Neb's body and she transformed into her Dwarf form. Now if the wolf did wake up and attack it'd have a harder time puncturing her armored plates. Gathering the creature in her arms, she set off after the others, her heavy feet thudding along the ground.
When addressed, Neb's voice seemed to project itself from somewhere within her alien body as no actual mouth moved. "Wouldn't call it luck," she said, "it's more like coincidence." Though she did have to admit there were moments she remembered where the timing of blinks seemed to be almost too perfect. "We can't control blinking. At all. No way to trick it into happening either. The House does as it pleases whenever it wants you to come or go."
