Pre Explosion Seeing 'Amico' jump into the bumper car with excitement, was something that never seemed to stop amusing Rowlin. Watching children get amused over the little things always reminded him that there was always something to look forward too regardless of the situation. Watching Hange scoot over, and Myrnin take a feel for the machinery he couldn't help but speak up at Hange's curiosity for the machinery. "Well mate, this is powered through its independent power source. If you'd like sometime we can open this baby up and explore the nick and cramies. I'm no export in machinery but my 'lengthy' experience has taught me a thing or two." He happily offered the new company. His attention returned to Myrnin, "Try it out, but push the pedal a bit slowly. Otherwise." He provided a zooming fast hand gesture, "You might fly." He metaphorically added. "But it's a ton of fun. The Mrs. loves bumper cars, specifically targeting me-actually... everyone likes targeting me." They have their reasons, but anything beats a literal pounding... He smiled crossing his arms, as he leaned against the bumper car right across the one Hange and Myrnin were in. He had absolutely no idea as to where he was, nor was that the first concern on his mind, in fact that thought hadn't crossed his mind. He was more amused with the two new faces rallying with excitement over a bumper car. I feel like I'm forgetting something? He couldn't help but briefly ponder. His attention turned towards the far end of the room where the emotionless girl, and Juuzou appeared to be going on with the wall adventure. It didn't initially cross his mind that the wall being unscratched despite the initial crash of the first bumper car. Though his attention had been focusing on 'Amico' and Hange, he had been listening to the other two in the background. Watching Juuzou provide the doll like girl the entire stage, there was some sort of curiosity to what the individual would do. The doll like girl clearly did not have anything at hand, and it appeared as though she carried nothing within her pockets. Universal pockets? He raised a brow watching the doll like girl raise a hand. He did have a few questions to ask the girl, maybe after whatever on earth was going to happen. This young appearing figure seemed very doll like-it almost reminded him of the Lutka race. I mean...she kinda does look like one... He pondered further, his bright green gaze captivated by the energy she had collected within an instant. Definitely a Lutka-His eyes widened in response the explosion which seemed to rebound in their direction. It was instant , fast, and he was out in the open. Quickly he skidded in front of the bumper car that Hange and Myrnin took refuge behind, having himself brace for impact directly. At the same time he shifted into a defensive stance, his eyes shifting violet instantly. His arms were out in front of his face in an X position as he braced for impact head on. As the combustion breached five meters from where Rowlin stood, it appeared to hit an invisible wall. The fire and chunks of metal made contact with the unseen wall, suddenly going both towards the left and right away from the initial direction. With every physical impact, the invisible wall materialized to reveal a massive pair of clear feathery wings crossed in front of Rowlin as a defensive position to prevent the scraps from impacting the three. With every passing second the clear wings took on a raven black color, occasionally glimmering against the fire. Post Explosion The debris stopped flying everywhere, what could have been a crisis had been averted, hopefully. Rowlin relaxed letting out a rather long hefty sigh, as the wings crossed in front of him, released with a graceful flap along his back. Some feathers had come off the wings, gliding slowly in the air. The wings themselves started to dematerialize, more feathers gliding in the air. As the feathers glided down they slowly too began to dematerialize, like water from a raindrop. The damage had been done, several bumper cars died in the name of science-or at least he liked to think it was for science. Common guys... we're only halfway through the week. It's not Friday.... He gently placed a hand over his chest, letting out a sigh of relief. He shifted turning behind him where Hange and the boy had taken refuge, his violet eyes had returned to their natural green, "Are you two alright?" He gently smiled hoping to reassure them that everything was fine. Clearly nothing was fine, but it wasn't the first time nothing was fine, and it certainly wouldn't be the last.

That must be some college. Juuzou tried to imagine a pack of bored students creating an entire human/grenade launcher hybrid for fun, and found that he couldn’t. Not that he didn’t believe her, he didn’t get the sense that she would think to lie to him, he just had no idea what those people must be like in their normal lives. He would really like to meet them sometime and see, though. And people said he wasn’t normal. “Juuzou Suzuya.” He introduced himself, and tilted his head back to look at the smoky third of the room again. It was finally beginning to clear, so he took a cautious step forward, then another, testing the floor in case he was damaged enough to shatter under his weight. “Not yet.” It was tempting, though. “I want to see if that worked, first. I don’t want to destroy whatever’s on the other side yet.”

Ononoki’s blank gaze observed the blinkers protecting the child, and her head even turned when she saw that Rowlin had stepped in front. The ability he displayed was of interest to her, especially the fact that he could conjure it at will. She turned back toward Juuzou and stood there plainly, her galoshes seemingly planted into the scorched ground once more. Only now, the pose was more than just a passive doll. It was still that, but it was clearly the pose of a being with immense amounts of potential energy. This energy was wasting away with Juuzou’s words to hold off, and as the smoke disippated enough to reveal the undemolished wall, she was already raising her arm a second time. She was not planning on using Unlimited Rulebook with the investigator so close, but the gesture was still inadvertantly threatening. “Stand back,” she told him, “I said with a posed look.” But she still seemed to be waiting on his words to use it. Perhaps it was to avoid further disturbing Amico. Perhaps it was that Juuzou’s twisted motivations reminded her of her master, but she appeared to look to him for direction ever since he had given her the advice on where to go from the living room.

mintedstar/fur Elliot remained upright, his head slowly drooping down, with his chin resting against his chest. His turquoise eyes gazed at the floor with indifference. Inhaling a long slow breath, he shifted his neck towards his right, with his head dragging against his chest until his cheek was clashing against the top of his shoulder bone. He closed his eyes, letting out the long steady breath. "How?"He softly repeated, remaining still for a moment. "For a short while, I would sneak out for jousts. When returning from a campaign, I would be given three days to rest before anything be requested by the queen. It gave me a day to pretend that for a brief moment my world didn't exist. The remaining days to bottle whatever excitement I had from the day's past. Then the campaigns started to frequent-" His right hand reached over for his left shoulder. "-one after the other. No opportunity to do as I pleased. According to The Queen, I have been lacking in performance." His right hand squeezed his left shoulder tightly, yet his expression remained nuetral against the forced pain. "Being left with regretful options, I simply found myself in isolation. If an individual such as myself is expected to be indifferent to the laws of reality, then I shouldn't bother to experience that which life has to offer." He softly commented, he had squeezed tightly to the point that blood was lightly seeping along his fingernails. His clothing appeared in tact, however to an individual observing, it was when the individual blinked that a faint outline of a shadowy claw burying itself into the clothing, could be faintly seen in between every blink.

This hellhole was getting a show alright. A real blast. Never had he been the best one to deal with machines yet here he stood in front of the device that would grant him temporary freedom or a permanent demise. Either one would be appreciated than eternity all the while the wind hissed into his ear, the fog persisting nonetheless. He made another attempt to get it kicking, stepping forward giving the generator a well placed kick. In hindsight generators should be noted as loud while the sound it produced a clear, ringing beep most would recall when losing a game. Except there weren't any games... He didn't dare move freezing in the spot he stood the beeping noise inched closer to his location a certain fuzz made a comeback. If late movie nights had taught him anything it was how you shouldn't split up no matter what but that was exactly what they had done. A newbie mistake. Another noise beckoned him, the calling of his name was enough for Joey to hightail it out of the tight spot. Cowardly wasn't what one would call it but a daring escape from whatever lurked around the corner. His footfalls weren't loud nor was his breathing, the status of the weird coincidences had his concerns for his partner. "The generator dead!" The teen called out making his way through the thickening fog, the mask that covered him was partly soaked with sweat. "It's a dud but you would have known that already since you were right next to me." Right?

(comes tumbling in)
It took a little for Myrnin to actually look up and see Rowlin. His eyes widened just a little as he saw the ghosts of feathers drift away and fade. Had ... had Rowlin moved there to protect him? That couldn't be right. The small boy pushed the thought away as ridiculous. No one protected him. But Hange seemed a lot nicer than he first expected. His heart was still fluttering around in his chest. It wasn't so much the explosion as the noise. This ... all of this ... was beyond anything he understood. So far, nothing had ever done that. Nothing had ever been like this before. It wasn't the chaos. Even young Myrnin enjoyed being at the center of a little chaos - or the cause of it. But that didn't stop him from being frightened by things which his adult self might revel in. He flinched, just a tiny bit, when Hange touched him to steer his chin to look at them. There was a touch of tears at the corners of his eyes - clear human tears, unlike those of the vampire far in his future. "A - alright," he said, hesitantly looking around. There was still Rowlin, who he was sure he had to thank. But for now he sat, tense and not sure what to do, while looking for the cause of the explosion. But he couldn't see over the tipped bumper car.

Movement at the edge of his vision made Juuzou turn sharply, his red eyes suddenly flashing with an unreadable, chilling expression as they fixed on Rowlin. Because, for just a fraction of a second...it had look like all the world like he’d just protected that little boy with a Kagune. “Ononoki, what is he?” He asked the little girl quietly, not looking at her. Not looking away from that man for a second. “What did he just do?” He didn’t know whether she’d be able to tell, but since she seemed comepletely willing to do whatever he said, it couldn’t hurt to try. The wall was no longer the most interesting thing in the room. The wall could wait. The tips of his fingers brushed the dagger at his side, he was already wondering whether he could throw it past Myrnin without hitting the child. Assuming the child was human. If he was human, he was in imminent danger. He didn’t know about the other person, with the long hair and glasses. They could be a ghoul, too. If this had been his world, Rowlin would be dead already, the only reason he was hesitating was because he didn’t understand what was happening, he wasn’t convinced this wasn’t a dream. Which, if it was, was also a good reason to go ahead and kill Rowlin before it turned into a nightmare. “Ononoki.” He said, his voice almost quivering with something. Either the urge to throw the dagger, or sudden, scorching frustration at the fact that he didn’t know what was going on.

Ononoki turned her head back to look at Rowlin out of the corner of her eye, just to fulfill Juuzou's request. She had actually been evaluating him enough on her own that answering the question was not sending her out of her way. She lowered her hand to refrain from Unlimited Rulebook and brought her chin close to her shoulder, exposing her pointed ears and staring with her green eyes at the person who had seemed to be human. There was a pause that said its culmination would be some helpful information. It was like she was a loading computer, a database ready to release all pertinent information to Juuzou in just a second. But when that second came, she merely opened her mouth and murmured in monotone, "I don't know." It was the conflicting set of characteristics that threw her off. She couldn't pinpoint any one kind of monster or oddity that encapsulated this person's ability. At least, not in her world. And this triggered the tiniest hint of emotion from her, for the first time. Her mouth widened ever so slightly and the corners turned down, the expression in her eyes altering an amount that would be unnoticeable to most. Frustration? "This must be something that does not exist where I am from. Do you know what it is, Investigator?"

Do you know what it is, investigator? That was the problem, he didn’t. He hesitated, hating that fact with every fiber of his being, his eyes burning with something both cold and hot as he stared the stranger down from across the room. Then the ghoul investigator let out his breath in a low, frustrated hiss. “Yes, and no. And know what he might be, but I don’t know what he is, because I don’t know where I am. And I just saw a dragon, and then there’s whatever you are. But if I were home, I would kill him.” The words were stated as though they were a fact of him as a person, rather than an actual decision on his part. The person that was called Juuzou killed ghouls. It was one of the only predictable truths he knew of. This being his first blink, he also had next to no context. He didn’t even have any theories. So far, he was just taking the insanity as it came at him, one thing at a time. Which, now that there was a ghoul(????), was no longer an option. “You can blow up the wall again in a minute.” He informed her, and though his expression was cold and focused, his voice betrayed how serious this was for him. He headed towards Rowlin, his arms tense, his fingers longing to grab his dagger, but not yet. Not yet. “Excuse me.” He said, very politely, as he stopped very close to the older blinker and tapped his shoulder to get his attention. “What are you?”

Dukku blinked, a look of surprise cross his eyes as he noticed where he was. A mere moment ago, he had been standing in the tall grasses his home. Now he was in. . .well, he didn't even know. There were so many sights that he couldn't even begin to describe. But what had just happened? His sickness sometimes made him feel faint, but it had never caused him to see things. The fox-cat moved backwards. Immediately afterwards, he fell into a fit of coughing.

Czeslaw stepped off of his bumper car with a start. A ways away there was a group of other blinkers now who seemed to be having some kind of confrontation, and as he began walking toward them he noticed a blinker there. “H...Hello,” he murmured to Dukku, assuming they could understand him. His brown cap was off his head and being held in one hand. This blinker seemed to be either new, or someone he had yet to encounter. And they didn’t seem to be much of a threat at all, which was the only reason the boy decided to approach. “...Are you okay?” It was perhaps an understatement to say this newcomer wasn’t a threat. If anything, they needed help.

Dukku heard someone speak. Was there another of his species here? He hadn't detected any before, but maybe they appeared here just like him. After a couple of minutes, he was able to stop coughing and look up again. One of the unfamiliar creatures was standing nearby. To think of it, they looked even weirder close up. Was that who had spoke? "I can understand you?" his fur was spiked up and his eyes were wide with confusion. It hadn't been a trick of the mind, right?

Czeslaw saw something of himself in the bristling newcomer, who seemed to be startled by the change and nervous of who else might be around. The boy nodded as a response to the question; he didn't often do the introductions around here due to how much he stayed back from the others, but he knew what to say. "You're in a place called the Paradox House... It's somewhere people are sent randomly. You go back to your world after a while, though." He instinctively crouched down to be closer to Dukku's level. "Where did you come from?" he questioned, eyes curious. He didn't get many opportunities like this to be investigative with others he met here, as they usually seemed far too intimidating--even kids his own age could be at times.

So it was true - Dukku could understand the strange being. Knowing a little about the place made him feel slightly better, but at the same time he was unsure if the boy was really someone to trust. Paradox House. Those words had been as unfamiliar as the place itself. At least now he had words to describe it. "Grassland," the young nicheling replied. His fur was beginning to lie flat again, the surprise of the moment dying down.

Kelsier hadn’t noticed, but once Maladict pointed it out it seemed obvious. ”A horn....” He mused, a puzzled frown creasing his sharp features. The only reason he could imagine a horn being blown in a forest had to do with armies, something he hadn’t considered being here until now. He glanced around the huge trees surrounding them, peering through the unfamiliar green, but the only colors he saw came from the wildflowers. “Not any good ones.” He answered grimly. ”I don’t know what’s common in forests specifically, but if this was in my world I would think an army was announcing itself nearby.” He paused, flaring tin to see if he could hear anything else happening deeper in the forest. His pewter was low, which was bad, but he had one more vial of metals he could use if things went downhill. Maladict's expression was like stone. It took him a second to scan the area as well. He wasn't a soldier. He was, however, living in a country always at war. This wasn't a strange assumption. "Yes," he murmured. "So would I." He looked back at Kelsier. He didn't think investigating the sound was a good idea, but he asked anyway. "Do you think we should check it out? Or should we avoid it?" He slowly brushed off his shirt (or the fancy equivalent) and looked around. His hearing had come back with only a faint ringing now. "There might be something more important around here ..." Kelsier chewed his lip and leaned back against the trunk of a huge tree as he considered the question. “Well, I don’t think we’re going to be safe either way.” He pointed out after a moment, his hazel eyes moving back and forth between Maladict’s. He could tell by the vampire’s expression that the idea of an army wasn’t unfamiliar to him, and he wondered briefly whether Mal had ever fought in one before. It was hard to tell just from the stony look in his eye. He sighed and got to his feet, brushed the dead leaves from his gray mist cloak, and brought a smile to his lips as he looked down at his companion. “It’s the only lead we have right now. I think we should check it out, if you’re up to it.”

Czeslaw put his hands on his knees, holding his cap there and blinking his eyes at the unfamiliar being. "Grassland..." he echoed, "I know what that is... I think." But he was certain it meant something far more specific to the other blinker. He wondered if Dukku was just an animal he had never seen before. Even after living over a century, he didn't know everything about his own world. "I'm Benjamin," he introduced and pointed to himself with one hand. "What are you called?"

AuranskyMyrnin was silent for a very long. He ... wasn't completely sure what to make of this. But he reached out, completely ignoring permissions and personal space, gripping Elliot's hand and pulling it away. "No need for that," he said, voice rough. He was distracted by his own personal connections to this situation, but not so much that he felt completely disconnected. "You seem to be powerful enough without being emotionless," he said after a second. "I've never seen much call for the abundance of power in those who don't want it." His nose wrinkled. "I've seen those qualities in tyrants and fools too much to want it for myself. Your Queen does not sound like she respects your mental health." Amelie had never made any statement about him. There were however a couple of what Myrnin might call fools who just said he was becoming what he was supposed to be. But they weren't him. And Bishop and Gwion ... well, they had been a different sort. Myrnin couldn't be sure, but perhaps like the Queen. "And you? Why could you not run away from your Queen to another world like you mention Spurious doing?" He glanced at Elliot, who he had been sure had been bleeding. "If it causes you so much distress ..."

"I'm Dukku," the fox-cat introduced. Much like all else he knew about the boy and the place, the name 'Benjamin' was new to his ears. Just then, he noticed another person wandering over. He couldn't help but ask the question to the both of them, "What are you? Why can I understand you?" He knew their species would be another foreign term, but he just needed to know.

It appeared like the two were investigating results on the wall. He unconsciously crossed his arms, observing Ononoki and Juuzou. He smiled briefly to himself amused by their amusement. He herd movement behind him, coming from the car. It was 'Amico' and Hange. Keeping his back turned to the two in the car, he simply tilted his head as though to listen to the minor sounds of movement. They are fine, good... Some relief was shown in his expression. He herd the boy's faint voice replying to Hange. He pretended not to hear.
Still keeping his head turned towards the side, his attention was somewhat divided between Juuzou, Ononoki in the front and Hange and Myrnin in the back. His expression was nuetral giving off the interpretation that he could be paying attention to the group in the front or the back. It appears like I did something that I shouldn't have? He could hear various heart beats going off in the room. The young boy's especially clashing like a 6th grade percussionists on the first day. Hange seemed more nuetral, given their desire to protect the young boy. On the other hand, Juuzou's heart beat... that was a different story. It beat with a rhythm of confusion. Why? The wall? Then there was Ononoki, the individual that reminded him a Lutka, in fact she had some vibe coming of her that was very similar to a Lutka. Spirit.... He tried to pin the feeling. Not an entity, otherwise... He blinked, still keeping his attention off to the side, he shifted his cold right hand over his mouth, the thumb and index finger both against his cheeks, as he started to ponder. He completely missed Juuzou asking Ononki a question.
His eyes somewhat shifted towards the wall, ignoring the fact that the two individuals in the front were looking at him. His attention then shifted towards the back of the room briefly just to see if there was anything back there. There wasn't, so...What are they looking at? He tilted his head a bit towards the left, his right hand still on his face pondering. At the same time he pulled out his pocket watch with his left hand. Did I slip? I haven't had a slip up in a while... He opened it up, staring at the glass itself which had his reflection. Nothing? He stared at his illuminating green eyes, then somewhat moved his head to see his red hair reflected on the glass of the clock. No Putting the watch away, his right hand became a fist, then shifted against the right side of his cheek. He shifted his upper body a little bit towards his back to see Myrnin and Hange directly. He then proceeded to look on the car itself, looking for his shadow. Seeing his shade he raised a confusing brow which to Myrnin and Hange indicated how completely confused he was. Was this staged? Was I not supposed to jump out at this time? Was there a queue? Wait-I don't remember auditioning for anything as of late? Charity event?
Returning his attention back to the front, he flinched seeing Onnonoki eyeing him in a indirect way. He blinked even more confused then he previously was. I seriously did something wrong. He started to consider it based on the room's somewhat to almost entirely awkward silence. O-Okay... I clearly messed up somewhere? Did my damn'd nephew set something up again? Knowing him, he was supposed to be here and he asked a team instaport me here in his place... Ugh, he needs to stop running from his damn'd responsibilities, when I see him he's getting a stern talking! He was too busy rambling in his thoughts about his Nephew, the supposed head of his business, that he had blocked out the snippets of chatter going on in the background.
He had somewhat snapped out of his internal rambles, his gaze sharpened slightly as the emotions of Juuzou overpowered those being emitted from Myrnin. kids.... seriously... I appreciate all the mixed emotions in the room, but like I'm full. I don't need any more mixed emotions for a good while... His right foot shifted a little on the ground. This was unfortunate, it only further proved that he had messed up on something. Or that they weren't expecting him at all. Right y'all were expecting the head of the family to be here, well surprise I'm here....and I still don't know what charity this is, or movie?! Wait... was this being filmed, DAMN him....he's getting a scolding from me and mama bear.... He face palmed quietly. Did I just call my best friend Mama bear? It was when Juuzou approached, even tapped him on the shoulder that he flinched out of his never ending internal rambles to give the young man his full attention. He blinked instinctively confused, but maybe it appeared like he knew what he was doing? I really need to stop snapping out of things. They probably asked me a question and I didn't hear it the first time. The young man seemed very polite despite the rather cold, death glaring stare. Let alone the young man's stiff body posture, and twitchy fingers. I clearly upset him... He referred to Juuzou's posture. Then the million dollar question hit, What am I? He blinked in response towards the question. Furthermore Juuzou was awfully close-closer then even what his friend from Manchuria would consider close. The doll used an ability, but can I really disclose what I am openly? N-No... I haven't started ... I need signs to indicate that I can; er but they saw the wings... but what other choice did I have?
He remained silent for a second, crossing his arms with a confusing gaze at first but it quickly shifted to skepticism, "I'm a high school history teacher." He slowly began, "Don't get paid enough, so I perform magical illusion tricks on the weekends to keep the lights on." It wasn't an entire lie. He just worded his life to exclude some minor important things out of the discussion. Yet this clearly didn't ease the kid, he couldn't help but take a mini step back to create some space between the two. He was clearly asking for my profession, right? He knew Juuzou was outright asking what he literally was, but he couldn't directly answer the question.

But at least Joey was back, which meant he didn’t have to deal with whatever that noise was alone. Instead he began to run towards the end of the wall, determined to make it to the top this time so he could get to the other boy. He...kind of made it. Probably, what Joey saw of the ordeal was a flailing pair of hands as he jumped and missed, then a pair of arms hooked around the top, finally followed by a huffing, puffing Matt who slowly but determinedly scrambled his way to the top of the wall. Oh...now he could see him. ”Hey!” he called, waving. “So you hear that noise too, right? Like a beeping or something??”

Ononoki stood expressionless behind Juuzou after the ghoul investigator stepped forward ahead of her. She even seemed to be drifting out into space, although she was paying complete attention to the conversation and the harshness of the interaction. Danger appeared to be imminent. She was only somewhat aware of the strange turmoil inside Rowlin at that time, and she decided not to comment on it. That was one of the useful qualities of Ononoki; she didn’t often spill secrets, simply as part of her nature. “He’s not lying,” she informed Juuzou—barely loud enough for him to hear—when Rowlin stated his occupation. But inside her head swirled more thoughts and emotions than she let on. They rolled through her synapses, into her nerves and all through her body, but always stopped just short of being expressed outwardly. And right now, her focus was one of suspicion. The pages of her mental library were being fluttered through like a flipbook, and she could still read it effortlessly. She had realized what this blinker was. That is to say, what he was at the core of his being. It even could be possible that he was inflicted with several oddities on top of that. As this separation of identification occurred in her mind, she began to wonder. What sort of person deserved such an existence? How had he landed in such a situation as to become so complex? Now the doll girl’s green eyes were scanning the blinkers around them. She detected no spiritual disruption from Rowlin—this was why she decided not to attack him right then and there. On the other hand, she was not stopping Juuzou either. Any other person might see that by withholding her information, she was putting a person at risk and allowing unnecessary conflict to occur. But the doll saw no need for such connections. After all, what were these people to her? Nothing, not yet. “...I said with a posed look.” And with that, she sealed that she would say no more. Juuzou would be left only with the information he had gathered so far to determine whether or not he would strike.

“I’m a human. Well... I’m from Earth. Do you know of it?” There was nearly an actual childlike tone to his intrigue. He wanted to know more about what Dukku was, but that would have to wait. Czeslaw shied away from Dipper, recognizing the hostility from him. He also felt an awkwardness from introducing himself as Benjamin, but stuck by the introduction. When he saw what was happening on the other side of the room, he halted his steps and swayed back. “They’re going to fight,” he said to Dukku. His words were completely certain, as he could recognize imminent violence when he saw it.

Juuzou heard Ononoki’s quiet information, but he didn’t respond to it. His attention was focused completely on the man in front of him. Because he thought Rowlin knew perfectly well that he hadn’t been asking for a job description. For a moment he wavered, puzzled at the genuine confusion he saw on Rowlin’s face. And then it was gone. His red eyes narrowed as he saw the blink, the hesitation that flitted through the other blinker’s bright green eyes...and the secrecy as he stepped back. Juuzou smiled. Then he pulled two daggers from his belt and slashed once, twice at the older blinker with incredible speed and precision. Anticipating a counterattack he ducked and threw himself to the side, using his small size as an advantage to get behind Rowlin and attack again. His eyes burned with concentration and something else that was hard to pin down....perhaps “excitement” was the closest word to it....and he raised his second dagger to protect himself while he moved to stab with the first.

"I'm a fox-cat. We're also sometimes called nichelings," Dukku stated. The second question hadn't been answered, but the first was just as he had expected - another foreign term. His eyes widened slightly in surprise as 'Benjamin' said where he was from. "I know about 'Earth', but not as a place," he answered. 'Earth' was the ground, the soil beneath his paws. At least, that's how it worked where he was from - the ground here was different, he was unsure what exactly it was. As a fight was mentioned, Dukku took a quick glance at the group on the other side of the room. "Where should I go?" Whenever there was danger, it was always a good idea to stay away from it, where it was safe.

"No!" yelped Myrnin. "You gotta help him!" His hands untangled themselves from Hange's shirt and with a swiftness that could only be devoted to a boy who ran a lot - often away - from things he pulled himself away from their lap and protection. His face was terrified, but he was still running for Juuzou instead of away. Rowlin had helped him! And his feathers had gotten hurt! This was his fault, it had to be. Because Hange was cool and had dodged away, but Rowlin had jumped in front of him. And now this knife guy with pale hair was trying to hurt him more! That wasn't fair! Rowlin had helped him without even knowing what he was - devil boy - and Juuzou hadn't even thought about what he was doing! The boy scrambled over the turned over bumper car and skidded next Rowlin. His eyes still stung with both shed and unshed tears and he bolted into movement again. He tackled Juuzou's legs (it was easier to reach). But there was no skill to it. This wasn't a boy with the strength of a vampire. This was a little boy who wanted to protect someone he'd just met from some random attacker. It was like a mouse trying to attack a wolf. "Get away from him!" shouted Myrnin.

It wasn’t often that Hange felt real fear. Adrenal imitations of the stuff, sure - physical responses. A racing heartbeat every time they were nearly consumed during a scouting mission. Trembling fingers during a difficult surgical procedure. But all that was simply physical...usually they were a passive participant, watching it all go by as their internal calm never wavered. However, the surface of that calm rippled at the sight of the boy, tearing himself from their arms, running towards an armed assailant. “MYRNIN, STOP!” they bellowed, forgetting the name Amico in their haste, leaping over the car and sprinting, as fast as they could, towards Juuzou, drawing their blades as they went. Could they make it in time...

"Alright," Kaito said hesitantly. He didn't think that was a very foolproof plan, but he thought it was the best Arlo was going to get for now. There were other things she probably wanted to think about - or rather not think about. "Come on," he said gently. "Let's sit on the couch." They were still on the floor, where Arlo had blinked in. He rested one of his hands on her shoulder, dipping his head and smiling reassuringly. "Do you want me to get anything ... or rather see if I have anything on me?" His eyebrows were knitted together with concern. He knew Arlo had just lost her parents - people who probably cared a lot about her if they'd wanted her to stay safe that badly - but he didn't know what was better for her in this situation. He honestly wasn't even sure how Arlo dealt with loss. He knew she had lost people, but he hadn't seen her do so directly - apart from when he'd died. He just wanted to be there for this younger version however he could. "Okay," Arlo replied quietly, rubbing at her eyes with the back of her hand before getting to her feet. "I don't know..." The girl hesitated to answer his question, her gaze drifting around the room. "I-I have some supplies in my bag but-" she stopped suddenly. She wasn't actually sure what she had in her backpack- her mother had pretty much thrown it at her as soon as she was awake and although it felt a bit heavier than it had before she hadn't looked to see what had been added to it. The girl carefully set her knife on the coffee table, then took her backpack off and sat on the edge of the couch to look in it. Inside were several things you would expect one to bring when they went camping- a couple bags of trail mix, some beef jerky, a few extra bottles of water- probably what was making it weigh more-, some rope, a flashlight, a slightly crumpled box of matches, a pocket knife, and of course, her notebook. It was better than nothing, but it wouldn't last long. It took a moment for Arlo to notice what else was in the bag- something that she definitely hadn't put there. Half hidden behind the water bottles was an envelope with her name scribbled hastily across it. She started to started to reach for it but stopped. It felt a little like when she'd realized she'd been in the House before. She had so many questions, but she was afraid of the answers, afraid that the situation was even worse than she already thought it was, even though that felt pretty impossible. A thought suddenly occurred to her and she looked up at Kaito again. "What do you..." she started to ask a question, but trailed off, her gaze dropping back to the locket she was holding, just in time to see what sort of looked like threads of pale green energy twisting around her fingertips. Her eyes widened as she watched it for a couple seconds before it vanished again. "Did you see that..?"
