"Um, it's been about two weeks for me too, actually. I've only blinked in like one other time, though." He explained, though it felt kind of odd to do so. "Gotten used to? Not really. It was different the last time I was here. And it was cold. I mean, it's always cold here, but it was really cold. And there was white outside? Which...I don't know. It was weird." He ran a hand over his head, pushing the hood off to reveal with thick black hair. "Does it change often or was I in one of those rooms? Is this a room?" Riley really hadn't learned anything about the House at all since their meeting. It, of course, didn't help that their first meeting hadn't exactly been very friendly either. Which showed in Riley's body language as he tried not to meet her eyes.

Riley looked up at Rae when she mentioned "winter" and "snow". They were words that didn't belong in his world, so he'd never heard of them before. "Um, yeah...Not to sound stupid, and I guess you of all people would understand because..." he was about to say 'because you've heard about my world before' but he caught himself in time. "What is winter? And snow?" He asked. Silently, he hoped that she didn't think him stupid for not understanding. Many people in his world saw him as stupid, uneducated, and lower than themselves. The worst part was he couldn't blame them. Even though it was wrong, he'd been lucky, he was still beneath everyone else. It was something that he could change. Probably something that would never change even once Maya took her place as Queen. None of that mattered here though, at least not now.

Shilo blinked into the House, holding a knife in her bandaged hands. She had her arm cocked back, about to throw it, only to blink in aiming at the young boy she'd met before and a girl she'd yet to meet. Her eyes widened and she stopped herself just in time. Well, that could have been messy... The young girl dropped her arm, slipping the knife into one of the sheaths around her waist. She looked around the room, seeing two adults that she'd not met before. Given the company, Shilo decided to approach the two children. "Hello," she greeted the other two small people. Though, she didn't really know what else to say after. It felt like greeting children was different than greeting adults...

Riley gave a nod. Winter was cold, got it. "Yeah, Varsati, it rains all the time during that season." It seemed like the worlds really weren't all that different. Even though the seasons were, there were still seasons. Though, it never got cold in his world. Even during Varsati, it was still warm. Well, compared to this place at least, it was still the coldest season in Vasundharā. "Hey, are you sure you're alright?" Riley asked, taking a step forward. It looked like something was bothering her...Had he brought something up that he shouldn't have?

"Okay, so snow is like rain, but when it's really cold it freezes. When it covers the ground like you probably saw at the lodge it's kinda all powdery." That was the best way she thought she could put it right now. Rae's immediate instinct was to step back when Riley came closer, though she struggled to retain her balance when the backs of her legs hit the couch. She muttered a short sorry, her eyes falling to the floor over her reaction. She pinched the bridge of her nose, trying to gather herself again. Could she not do that in front of a guy who didn't even know anything about her?
"Yeah...yeah, I'm fine." She didn't exactly sound it, but she was still getting her body to relax after it had just overreacted. "Sorry. I'm probably just thinking too much, it happens," she rambled.

Riley stopped where he was when he noticed her take a step back, so, he too a step back as well. "Don't apologize. I'm used to it." He said, looking down once more. Maybe this world really wasn't all that different from his own anyway. "So snow is frozen rain...and frozen means...ice?" Riley asked. Everything about this was foreign to him, but ice was a word he had heard before, thanks to a legend that his world had. So, Rae wasn't going to have to explain ice at least.
Riley looked back up to Rae, his gray eyes scanning over her for a moment. "What are you thinking too much about?" He asked, hooping that wasn't crossing a boundary or something. He wasn't sure what boundaries they had. Their first meeting had been so tense, and this wasn't much better, though at least Rae didn't seem to hate him, which was a nice change of pace for the young man. But, he wasn't quite sure if they were to the 'asking personal questions' stage of their acquaintanceship.

Riley gave a nod, as if he understood what she meant. He assumed King Vipatti was one of those people, after all. "I'm...not sure if this would be helpful or not. But you can ask me questions about him. Now that I understand the situation a little bit better, I won't be as harsh." He offered, though he really wasn't sure if it mattered. Whether he softened his tone or not, he couldn't soften what the tyrant had done. "It might not be easy to hear, but it might help." He wasn't sure of that either.
When Riley was done offering suggestions, he looked down again. This really was awkward. He was trying his best, but he couldn't tell of Rae was just a nice person or felt bad for going off on him the last time. She seems nice. He had said that right as he blinked in, talking to Maya about this very person. She had seemed nice, just caught off guard. Rae still seemed nice, just not ready to face him. Or, maybe she understood what he was. Had she seen the scar. Riley's gaze turned to his chest, making sure that his jacket still covered any sign of his marking.

Rae gave a low hm, mostly to herself. She wasn't really sure all of what she wanted to know. She'd gotten a good idea from last time, and she'd gone home with time to accept and get over it. It...was still a bit hard to think and know all that had happened. She began to absentmindedly play with the hairband around her wrist as she thought. "I think I want to see the letters you mentioned," she said. She wasn't sure of it at first, but after having time to decide she knew it was something she needed to do. "It can be inconvenient when blinking doesn't match up all the time, but if you think of it, I'd like to read them."
Rae forced herself to meet Riley's eyes, or at least his face, as now she could see just how awkward this was for him too. Damn, they really needed a better icebreaker. She bit her lip as one question came to mind. Maybe she shouldn't, but-- "How? Um...how did he die?"

Riley nodded. "Yeah, of course. I'm actually with Maya right now getting them. The timing was just off by a few seconds." He offered a small smile, showing off his pretty white teeth for a small moment. "But I'll definitely bring them next time. I'll have them for you." It was a promise, but the tone of it, and he seemed oddly determined to keep it.
He felt her eyes on him and looked up to meet her gaze, or at least look at her. At her question, he quirked an eyebrow. He hadn't expected that, though he probably should have. "Old age, in his sleep. The doctor said it had been a peaceful death." Riley did his best to keep his tone even and not add any commentary about how so many people had tried to assassinate him, or how it wasn't a fair ending considering. No, he kept that all to himself because Rae didn't need to hear that.

Vanessa rolled her eyes before pressing the blowgun pressed to her mouth again. She aimed down the length at where she assumed the body attached to one set of eyes were ... and fired. She didn't need to explain when she could demonstrate. And hopefully there were not more of these creatures than she had sleeping darts - if they were effected by sleeping darts at all. Then she carefully pulled herself along the branch, closer to Astolfo. "Do you have anything useful to say?" she questioned bluntly. "Or would you prefer to assume that the glowing eyed and growling beasts down there are friendly?" She'd told him these rooms were dangerous. But of course someone so new wouldn't take that seriously enough. (I decided to repost this and delete the first one since I ended up pretty much rewriting it lol. Didn't like how it went before.) (You're welcome to add on to this room, control the 'ghost wolves' etc, if you want. XP) Astolfo watched the dart fly with wide eyes full of anticipation. It struck it's target as intended, causing the invisible beast to let out a loud growl as if in discomfort. Then the glow of it's eyes vanished, followed by loud thump as it presumably fell over asleep. "Oh, that's so cool! I should get me some of those!" The Rider hummed, looking as if he'd just seen something amazing. Which it had been to him. At his fellow blinkers next words, he gave a lazy shrug. "No. But even someone with as much of a lack of sense as I, would know those things are dangerous!" Alright, he was getting bored of sitting in this tree. Plus those 'things' were getting too close for comfort as they started clawing at the base of the trunk. He'd gotten Vanessa into this mess, so he was going to make sure she got out of it. That was his next goal. An idea formed in his mind, although he wasn't sure the other blinker was going like it. "Get ready to run, okay? I'll distract them!" Hopefully she could move at least somewhat fast... Without a second thought, the Servant got up and leapt off his branch, right over the surrounding group of monsters. He hovered a few inches off the ground once he landed, but he wasn't floating away anymore, showing he'd finally figured out how to control the flying effects placed on him. "Listen up you fiends!" All of the sets of floating eyes quickly turned to peer at the human yelling at them, before letting out more growls as they began stalking towards him. Astolfo, meanwhile went on, puffing out his chest in a display of confidence. "You now face one of the mighty twelve paladins of Charlemagne, Astolfo! I shall be the one to deliver righteous punishment upon-" One of the monsters leapt at him, cutting off his speech as he danced out of the way. "Hey! Let me finish! I didn't get to last time either!" (Alright! When I can think of something to add further/what to do with the 'ghost wolves' I will. ) Vanessa hardly saw how he'd gotten her into this mess. It was a room. They were all chaotic and vaguely dangerous at best. She just would have preferred someone offering better help than he currently was. She had learned something however. He didn't seem to be the most familiar with sleeping darts, so she could probably assume he wasn't resistant to them. There could always be a little accident later on. Though she didn't think this guy had much information that she could use. "Idiot," she muttered as he moved away without letting her protest. She stood straight, eyeing the invisible creatures. There were about twelve of them, including the one which she'd already knocked out. Astolfo probably wasn't going to die. People like him tended to be lucky ... it was the only reason they were still alive. She was tempted to leave him to it, but if this said luck failed than she would have gained a new asset for nothing. She sighed, inserting another dart into her blowgun. Shooting him now would almost be easier. She aimed ... and then fired at the invisible pair of eyes that looked like it was going to be the next to jump at Astolfo. Some of the indivisible creatures turned back toward the trees, apparently splitting their attention. "What you need to do," Vanessa shouted to Astolfo. "Is to stop them following us. Realistically easy ... you don't talk to them, you just incapacitate them! You can fly ... they cannot. Now, if you consider carefully is there a way you can use that?" Her voice dripped with sarcasm.

(I exists in some form. Probably. Hello!) "Appreciated," said Maladict, not asking what karma was, since he wasn't ready to go down the road of the unknown yet. "I'm Maladict. Nice to meet you." He took in Kelsier's appearance. There wasn't much to say, in all honesty. Like many other blinkers the vampire had met, there wasn't much familiar in the dress or speech. Awkwardly, Mal searched around for something to say. "Have you been blinking for a while?" He adjusted the sword so it was out of the way and instead reached up to scrub a hand through his hair. Then he thought better of it and let the hand drop back to his side. “In comparison to most people? Probably not.” Kelsier admitted, looking the other man over as he felt himself being inspected. Apparently he wasn’t all that interesting, which amused him. Only in the House, he supposed, could there be so much oddness already that whatever he had to offer was dull in comparison. Not that he was going to let that slide, without showing off a little bit first, of course. “I have heard about the rooms, though. Haven’t been in a lot of them yet, but I’m looking forward to exploring as many as I can. What are they like?” "Hum?" said Maladict, thinking about it. He hadn't been asked about the rooms very often. "I've only been in a couple," he reluctantly admitted. "They're alright. A couple have coffee." He seemed to brighten at this statement, as if it was one of the better things about a room. "You haven't been in any? We could go into one if you wanted." He hadn't been heavily advised about whether that was wise or not. It seemed like perfectly reasonable idea to him. Maybe he'd get an excuse to ask what karma was ...

Her voice dripped with sarcasm. He'd been the one to choose to enter the room, hence why he thought that was the case. Astolfo let out a sigh when Vanessa decided to stick around and chat instead of running. He was well aware of his own lack of sense, but he was starting to wonder about her as well when she herself started stating the obvious. "I know that! What did you think I was going to do?" The creatures still targeting him all started to rush him at once, forcing the Servant to return his full attention to dodging them so he didn't get a set of teeth to the face. "Unless you'd be okay with me possibly ruining your eardrums, or something even worse, I can't get rid of them while you're still here!" He had the perfect weapon to deal with this situation, but he wasn't sure it'd be safe for him to use with the other blinker nearby. Especially since she was only human... Originally, the plan had been to distract the monsters so Vanessa could get away, then unleash that move to get rid of the threat all together, although she was making that a bit tough. Just managing to float out of the way of another attack, Astolfo reached down and pulled the black horn off his belt and held it out. "La Black Luna!" Upon it's True Name being called, the horn began to glow, then increase in size as it wrapped around its owner's body. Once the light faded, it had almost completely changed shape, now resembling a strange hybrid of a French horn and a trombone. Hopefully Vanessa got the message by now, because he was getting ready to use it.

She was surprised at just how adamant Riley sounded about making sure he had them for next time. Though maybe he was just taking pity on her. Well, no matter she was still grateful, and hopefully the letters would finally mark an end to this closure.
She grew silent as she listened, just taking that moment to let Riley's words sink in. She thought she'd been expecting a worse death, but it was...almost pleasant to hear that Din hadn't suffered. But did he deserve it? "Okay." Rae then nodded once, holding back a sigh from her thoughts. "Okay, thanks for telling me." That was all she needed from that. "Sorry again," she added after a pause, "about before. Blowing up at you when we met. It was a shock, but I still should have controlled myself better." Rae didn't know how to take Riley's piercing stare after her apology and she averted her gaze, her eyes finding a smudge of dirt on the floor to focus on. She then shrugged in response when he finally spoke and began to twist her hands together. "Still. 'Don't kill the messenger', right?" She sighed. "I just wanted to clear that up. If we end up blinking in regularly at the same time I don't want all of that to make things too awkward. I've met a lot of people here, and when something happens between them it can be hard when it feels like the House is forcing us together," she said, rambling a bit as her thoughts formed. "I really like talking and doing stuff with everyone, and even though it was a weird start I'd rather us be cool, y'know?" Rae tentatively glanced back up, eyes flickering across his face before drifting to the side again, still unsure of herself.

He responded with another nod. As she rambled, Riley watched her, looking over her features. A small, handsome, closed mouth smile tugged at his lips gently. "Yeah, makes sense. No worries. No hard feelings." He responded, the smile reaching his tone as it softened a bit. "We're cool." After all, even when she was upset, she had treated him better than most in his world did.
He let silence fall in between them as he turned his attention to the living room, looking around the room he hadn't been in before. "So, tell me some stories you have of the House." Riley looked back at her. "What are some good things that come from blinking in here?"

Rae let herself look at him, finding herself smiling softly in return. She was glad he understood where she was coming from, and already she was starting to feel better to have cleared some of the air. She straightened up a bit now, her posture no longer reflecting her inner mood, and tipped her head in response to the question.
"The people, definitely," she said almost right away. "I've made some really close friends here, and just getting to know about all the different worlds that exist out there is really cool and eye opening. And the House itself--" Rae trailed off a bit, casting a glance towards the hallway as she moved to rub the back of her neck. "It can give us fun rooms that we can all enjoy, but there's also a lot of danger that can happen. A bit hit or miss, you just have to try and hope for the best." She laughed then as she recalled a certain room memory. "Definitely one of the more interesting times I've had was when a room turned us all into little kids.I actually forget how we got out of that one..."

Razzle Dazzle Lark"Er, not sure," said Myrnin, wiggling his fingers in what might have been a mock-up on 'so-so'. "How long is long? Because it's been a couple days but that hasn't stopped everyone in my world from making it feel like ages. So really what every you like Chamomile Tea." He glanced back at Nore, arching an eyebrow. "Yes ... if you say so." Was it just him or was he feeling more lost than usual. Had Nore always been this vague about what was happening in her world or was it only now that he wanted to ask questions that she conveniently dodged each and every attempt he made to find things out. "And you have found your style then?" he asked, interest finally returning to his voice. He was interested, of course he was. He just wasn't always sure how to react.

Nore gave Myrnin a look as though she was going to burst out laughing at any moment. In a rare instance, it was like she was laughing with him instead of at him; she had this psychopathic tendency not to find the same things funny as other people, therefore laughed more at than with at least 3/4 of the time. Anyway in that moment she was thinking, who wouldn't? Chamomile Tea. Great nickname. There was a loud crinkling as she sat back on the couch and discarded her wrapper over her shoulder in order to whack her vampiric friend with it, evidently still not worried about littering in this place. And then she finally crossed her arms, noticeably reluctant to put away the watch-it was a pretty flashy souvenir after all. "It's never too long around here," she answered Chamomile vaguely. There was a pinch of complaint added to the comment. Found my style? She was a little flustered by that one. And now she was busy coming up with a retort. It was probably going to be something about 'kicking the **** out of ***** is my style!' or something along those lines. Her face might as well have been replaced by a blue computer error screen while she tried to piece her phrase together, and unfortunately that extra time breached her limit--the limit the Paradox House had designated for her, as one might put it. Because that is when Nore blinked out, leaving nothing behind but the candy wrapper and a bow in the couch cushion where she had sat. I would like to say that an audible ring of absence was in the air, that there was in that moment a shared and indisputable recognition of emptiness--a vacant hole left in the Paradox House after Nore blinked out of it this once. But nothing of the sort could be discerned from such an ordinary occasion. Here, there was no way to distinguish a temporary vanishing act from a permanent one. Perhaps time did not move linearly after all; would that make nothing here permanent? It was the most optimistic view, and a way to continue the end of a life. Nore would not change in those hours between now and her end, and she would not repent. She would not stop caring for the people she cared for and she would still be trying to act cool. And these are the things she would still be doing, and will still be doing in the minds of those who knew her within blinks among universes. Now begins this phantom life of hers, the only threat to this mental extension of her existence being the thoughts that creep into minds of friends and enemies alike in the future: What ever happened to that jerk? She must be gone for good.

There was something about Nico which made Samuel think there was a lot more going on in his head than he ever said out loud. Maybe a slight inflection to his voice or a different beat to his heart, but Samuel couldn't be sure. Each place he paused when he spoke was leaving some thought unspoken, Samuel was sure. He just could guess that there was a lot to Nico he didn't know about and they were both just getting to know one another so he wouldn't yet. But Nico also seemed really nice. Samuel didn't know what the other boy was thinking, but that was okay. Nico was easy to talk to. And it seemed like Nico wanted someone to talk with as well. "O-okay," he said, thinking about Nico's words about how to use a sword. He waved at the sword and asked, "Could you show me?" He wasn't too sure if someone could push him over. He knew he was stronger than he used to be, but he had never thought about whether or not he was stronger just by standing still. There had been the time when he'd been in the living room with all the clones, but it had all moved so fast that he just remembered Vincent and that chaos. Samuel stood up from the couch, tilting his head and curious to see if Nico would demonstrate what he meant by standing properly. Nico nodded, taking the sword in his right hand and settling into a position that required a bit of focus, but left him more balanced. "Try to push me over," he told Sam, steadying his back foot for a moment before nodding once. Nico knew he couldn't be moved by demigods much bigger than him. He may have had a manipulative, abusive teacher, but he'd sure learned a lot. And he had been given the chance to learn more in New Rome, where they really had their strategy down. They knew the best way to make a fighter stronger. And although he couldn't often rely on strength in battle - he had to rely too much on his speed and his powers - he was confident that when in the proper stance it would take a lot to push him down. Of course, he'd never had a vampire try on him, and he wasn't aware that this was the situation he'd put himself in. "See how my feet aren't exactly in line with each other? There's a bit of space, and one foot is pointing out to create more of a triangle position. Triangles are the strongest shape, even though that's a really stupid sentence. It's true." He shrugged, leveraging the blade for a moment, as though focusing on an invisible enemy in front of him. (Oh dear. XD ) There was several seconds where Sam looked over Nico's posture. It could also be considered stalling, but he tried not to think about that. The stance looked easy enough to replicate, but Sam wasn't so sure if it was going to be as easy as it looked. Still, he'd find out he suppose. If doing what Nico had just told him to do didn't result in the demigod being sent through a wall and then never speaking to Sam again ... His hands almost started shaking at the thought. And they'd looked at him and they'd first been concerned, wondering why he was bleeding. Then they'd seen the teeth and the tears that were red and they didn't care he was hurt ... they'd just backed away, as if from an animal, and then ran. Sam pushed the thought away. He nodded twice. "Alright," he said. "Makes sense. Because if your feet were like this ..." He adjusted his own stance so he was in a similar position to Nico but feet facing a direction that he hadn't suggested. "... Then it'd be easier to over balance someone." The young vampire leaned to the left and then to the right. He turned back to Nico and chewed on his lip. "But if you're sure I can't push you over ..." He wasn't sure. He wasn't sure at all. He looked at his hands for a second, trying to prepare himself and allocate how much force to use. If it was wimpy, would Nico think Sam was insulting him? Too late to think about that now. He pushed at Nico's shoulder, intent on at least aiming for the strength he'd had several days ago. The push, while he'd tried for human, might have been just a bit more of a 'human-who-works-out-and-very-muscular' strength than 'stick-thin-boy-who-doesn't-look-like-he-eats-enough.'

Rue sat down beside the boy and tucked her legs up beside her, Then wavered slightly as she noticed he was staring at her. Which wasn’t actually that unusual, both here and back in her own world. Peacekeepers stared at her to make sure she wasn’t breaking any of their beloved laws (which was unsettling because she, in fact, usually was) and people at school stared at her because she was so small, and she knew they either pitied her or wondered how she was still alive. At least she hadn’t been reaped. Then she couldn’t disappear like she could at home. Like she’d learned to do so well she could watch her own siblings, running and playing, without them even guessing she was near. Like she’d learned to do when she was somewhere she shouldn’t be, doing something she shouldn’t do. The smile strengthened again as he offered his hand, and she took it and held it for a minute before letting go. “Nice to meet you, too. I haven’t gotten to meet a lot of people here yet.” He seemed shy. She hoped she wasn’t bothering him, but her gut said he wasn’t against talking...he just didn’t really know how. “What about you? Have you met a lot of people around here?” "I... well, not a lot," Noah replied, rubbing at the smudge on his cheek again as though trying to get it to come off. It never would, though it seemed like a nervous habit of his. "A few, certainly, and there are plenty of people that I've seen around but... maybe only two or three that I've actually talked to." His voice was getting a bit stronger as he went on, as though he found suddenly that he had the right to be talking to someone here. His physical form seemed to strengthen a bit, though it seemed almost like a trick of the eye. As though he'd been not quite there before, but now he was there, all of him, no questions asked. A trick of the light, maybe. "What's your world like?" he asked, not really sure what else to say. He knew some people came from worlds that were more magic than others, and he knew that, somehow, his world had become one of those. Magic that he couldn't control. Magic that he'd gotten caught up in, that he couldn't escape from... a failed spell was all he was. Yet he knew he wouldn't trade it. He just wanted to be alive again. He didn't wish he'd never been dead. Rue noticed the nervous habit, but she didn’t say anything about it, and she didn’t let herself stare at the smudge on the boy’s cheek. She was curious, but she refused to pry. They’d just met, she didn’t know how private Noah was, or what kinds of things had happened to him.... Speaking of which, had he looked that solid before. She blinked as he seemed almost to come into focus, like looking directly at something you’d only seen out of the corner of your eye. “I’ve talked to three dragons.” She offered. As he continued her smile stayed, but somehow it seemed to slip out of her eyes, leaving a more serious, almost sad light in them instead. “My world is....” She wondered, for the first time, how her world compared to other ones in the House. With a start, she realized that other worlds might not know about the Games at all. How hadn’t that crossed her mind before? Because she couldn’t imagine life without the Hunger Games. “This place is so much nicer than where I live.” She explained quietly, dropping her dark eyes to her hands. Her lip trembled slightly as she thought of this year’s reaping..... Tomorrow. “Is your world nice at all?” The little girl changed the subject, swallowing back the thoughts that threatened to cut her like shards of glass. “Or is here better for you, too?”

“I’ve been in a couple of rooms.” Kelsier corrected the vampire, thinking back to the lodge. “One of them had a lot of good food.” He had been warned about the rooms, but only briefly, and he was definitely not one to play on the safe side. Besides, the only rooms he’d been in had been kind of fun, not at all dangerous, so he had his suspicions about those warnings. He didn’t really think he’d been lied to, but he also knew he was a lot more capable than most people were, so he wasn’t that worried about it. “Certainly.” He agreed, and started for the hall. Somehow, it always looked bigger than he’d remembered it. The mistborn glanced at Maladict, a playful expression twisting one side of his mouth up in a sideways smile. “Care to do the honors, Mal?”
