Hange | Museum room | ®Hawkpath® strider |"There's a door now," they informed Kelsier, confused for a moment before they remembered that Kelsier's senses weren't as sharp as their own. "I can hear the living room behind it." They paused, eyeing the man as he stayed where he was, bent over the boy's corpse. They ignored Quincy completely - the House generated person forgotten entirely now that they were no longer an issue. "You're in shock," they informed him, no sign of sympathy in their tone. "We need to go before anyone else dies."

Watari | Zombie room | ®Hawkpath® strider |L was right. It was going to be difficult to find a place to land a helicopter if they had no way to contact the ground. There would be a radio in the helicopter itself, most likely, but it would be impossible to hear what was being said without a microphone. "We will most likely have to touch down on public land," he said, mostly for L's benefit. "I do not know how any helicopter we find will be labeled, so a remote area decreases our chances of appearing to be a foreign threat to anyone watching the skies." He glanced at Orpheus as he made his rather outlandish claim, but there was no hint of humor or disbelief in his tone. "Ah, is that so?" he asked, the words conversational and mildly curious. "Your ancient Greek is quite good. I must confess, I am more familiar with the modern version of the language. I have, of course, done some study on the antique, but rarely have I gotten the opportunity to speak it in a conversational setting."

Touka | Monster room | strider |Touka jumped as a voice suddenly echoed from behind her, and she whirled around, expecting to see another ghoul. But no...it was Nico.. Relief flooded her, despite the clearly dangerous situation the both of them were in. This was the House. Cochlea hadn't decided to dispose of her yet. She began to return the wave, then stopped, eyes scanning the tunnel as she, too, started to hear the rumbling in the distance. Okay...that probably wasn't good. And with all the RC suppressants in her blood right now...there was no way she could use her kagune. " Can you see anything?" she mouthed to Nico from across the hall, hoping he was at least sort of good at reading lips.

Matt | SSR Room | ®Hawkpath® |"Yeah, I'm fine..." grumbled Matt, pulling himself painfully up into a sitting position. "This is gonna hurt like a bitch tomorrow, isn't it - hey!" He cut himself off, indignant, as L took a shot at him. "I'm not new," he said, rubbing his head and grabbing L's hand to pull himself to his feet. "I just...was never one for dead bodies, okay? They give me the creeps." He took another look at the corpse and shuddered, feeling goosebumps on his skin. "So. You're a detective. Any theories on Mr. Deadface and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day?"

Hades gave a cry of frustration as his attack failed, eyes narrowing as he felt the mental attack. Not from Kelsier, no… the man was too preoccupied. From Nico, then. There was no subtlety in it, just desperation. Desperation was dangerous. Not seeming to care that it would give Kelsier time to recover, he shot a few coins in Nico’s direction, hoping that would shut him up. His movements were sloppy now, the coins hitting him as he turned and hissed, trying to avoid Kelsier’s strike. He had always thought of copper as a worthless metal. He was noble, Mistborn… there was no reason to hide that from anyone. He hadn’t expected the mental attack, and Nico hadn’t stopped. Could he even win this? He shook the pesky thought away, trying to get out of Kelsier’s reach. Nico was able to push away some of the coins, but far from all of them. He hissed as one of them hit his collarbone with enough force to knock him back, but he didn’t give up, he didn’t stop burning zinc. He had a feeling it was over for him now, given how difficult it was to breathe, but that didn’t mean it had to be over for Kelsier. He could still save him. He coughed, trying to ignore the blood. He just had… he had to help.

Nico glanced down the hall, looking over just in time to see Touka’s question. It took him a moment to parse out, but when he was certain he understood, he shook his head. He couldn’t see anything approaching, but… “One sec,” he mouthed back, squeezing his eyes shut. He was trying to sense any life around them, trying to figure out what was approaching. It was still relatively far away, but it was coming closer… he gave a sharp breath as he opened his eyes, finally figuring it out. “Not good,” he murmured as quietly as possible, looking over at Touka. “It’s big,” he added, though he figured Touka already knew that. It was shaking the hallway, nothing small could do that.

Kelsier narrowed his eyes to slits as Hades shot the coins at Nico, rage flaring to full strength inside him. At least his own coins hit, but coins weren’t good enough, not even close. Hades was attacking Nico to prove he could, most likely, to make a point, to say I can do with him as I please. Kelsier stalked forward, daggers raised, death like fire in his eyes as he moved. He flared pewter and threw himself into a run, covering the distance at near impossible speeds. “Coward!” he yelled, and stabbed forward, right at Hades’ heart. “He is not yours to do with as you please, and you will not hurt him, not while I breathe.” He stabbed forward again, his subtlety lost in the strength of the attack, his anger giving more power even than pewter did. “You dare threaten his family and blame him for the consequences?” He screamed. “You, who’ve been nothing but a threat to him, who let him wander and fall alone? You were never there to pick him up again. You were never there.” He stabbed forward once again. Let him fight back. Let him try. It didn’t matter now. ”You shouldn’t have turned your back on him. Like you shouldn’t have dared turn your attention from me now.”

Hades turned, a harsh laugh building in his throat. “Look at him, Survivor,” he hissed, managing, just barely, to block the attack. “He won’t survive the night.” The look in his eyes was cold and unforgiving, like he didn’t care what insults Kelsier had to throw at him. As far as he cared, he didn’t have a son. His son was dead to him the moment he had failed to kill the Survivor the first time. Yet… the idea of the boy still alive, siding with the survivor? His anger was thick enough to choke on. But his anger was nothing compared to Kelsier’s. When Kelsier continued attacking, there was only so much he could do to stay alive. His anger wasn’t harsh enough to keep him alive, not strong enough to burn against Kelsier’s. He fell, eyes widening as he gave one last Push on the coins near him. And then he fell still, Kelsier’s dagger buried in his chest. Nico slumped forward as the target of his zinc collapsed. He felt… hollow. He didn’t know how he was supposed to feel. Hades had been his father, he should have felt something. He didn’t feel anything, not even relief. He managed to weakly push himself to his elbows, feeling the last of his brass burn out. So much for making Kelsier stop worrying. Perhaps… perhaps there was reason to be worried. Nico could feel his vision swimming.

Kelsier didn’t look. He didn’t look at Nico. He didn’t look away from Hades as the man died, the dagger buried deep in his chest, the coins he Pulled on flying up in one last attack. The Mistborn caught one as it sped by him, looking down at it as if it could make this night go away. As if it could make this night slip away into nothing, somehow. He stood over Hades, coin turning over and over in his hand like a magic spell that refused to work. It didn’t matter now… It was over. And Hades has been right about one thing. He turned slowly forcing himself to face Nico. His anger burned out, leaving him feeling weak. He stumbled forward and fell to his knees beside him, crawling forward until he could pull Nico close. “Hey,” he breathed, pushing Nico’s hair out of his eyes so he could search his expression. “Hey, Nico, hey…” He didn’t know what to say. What could he possibly say? Nico had done this for him...for all of them, for the crew. He’d done it to protect them, tried to take on Hades himself, and this was what he’d gotten in return. This...what was wrong, exactly? He couldn’t tell.

Nico tensed just a little bit as Kelsier came closer, but he didn’t protest as Kelsier pulled him in. Kelsier felt… warm. It was a nice feeling, one Nico hadn’t quite anticipated. The only downside was it made him realize how cold he was. He breathed out, letting his eyes close for a moment before he realized just how bad of an idea that was. He forced his eyes open again, searching Kelsier’s. “I’m… I’m sorry,” he managed, his voice trembling. “I don’t… I don’t want to die a traitor…” was he dying? It felt like he was. He couldn’t breathe, he didn’t know why it hurt so badly, he wasn’t bleeding… well, there was the cut on his collarbone from the coin Hades had shot at him, but it had hurt badly before that. He coughed, wincing against the feeling as it wracked his body, his lips stained red when he finally opened his eyes again to meet Kelsier’s. His mind wandered, forcing him to imagine how the crew must have reacted, knowing that Breeze had been right the whole time. That Nico had betrayed them, even if he didn’t want to. All he’d wanted was to try to keep the crew alive. He’d wanted to protect them. And he’d failed even that. He curled just a little bit closer to Kelsier, trying to stop his body from shaking. “I’m sorry,” he whispered again.

Panic stabbed at Kelsier as Nico closed his eyes, even for just a moment. A moment was too long, far, far too long. “Hey, there you go, stay with me,” he murmured, shaking his head and brushing Nico’s hair back. “You’re not a traitor. You’re not...you’re not a traitor, not to me, and you’re not dying, either. Not if I have any say in it.” But that was the point, wasn’t it? He didn’t have any say in this. He couldn’t make it stop. He couldn’t even tell what was wrong…. “Don’t close your eyes, please don’t close your eyes…” he breathed. He couldn’t let himself imagine what would happen if Nico did that. He couldn’t...he couldn’t lose him, he could let him slip away. He didn’t care about what the crew thought. Let them think whatever they wanted, it didn’t matter...all that mattered was that Nico kept his eyes open, his heart kept beating, words kept escaping his red stained lips. “Please don’t apologize, please hold on, just...” he pulled out a vial with shaking hands and tried to help Nico drink its contents, not caring that it was his last one, not caring that if someone attacked now, he’d be defenseless. Let them come. If Nico died now… No. No, he wouldn’t die. He couldn’t die here.

L didn’t mean to take a shot at Matt. He was just genuinely curious whether Matt’s idea of new was different than his own. He shook his head a little, letting out a grunt of surprise as Matt took his hand to pull himself up. “I’m not really…’one for’ dead bodies, either, I think,” he said, tilting his head a little. “I don’t like them. But I am very used to them, and they don’t…’give me the creeps’.” He looked back at the body, considering it. “Yes actually,” he continued, leaving Matt’s interesting phrases behind him. “I think -“ But his voice cut out the moment he tried to speak. He blinked, mouthing soundlessly for a long moment before he closed his mouth and looked at Matt.

Nico shifted, trying to keep his eyes open and fixed on Kelsier. He felt his body tremble, felt the wheezing gasps as they shook his body. “I’m sorry I tried to kill you… I’m… I’m sorry,” he managed once more, searching Kelsier’s gaze almost desperately. He breathed out, forcing himself to keep breathing, forcing his eyes to stay open. He didn’t want to die. He didn’t want to, and if Kelsier said he wasn’t going to, then he wasn’t. It was as simple as that. His eyes widened as he felt a vial pressed up to his lips, and he used what strength he had left to try to push Kelsier’s arm away. “You… you have to have metals,” he protested, breaking off into another serious of coughs. He let out a soft whimper, his chest constricting as he forced another cough out. He didn’t want to say it hurt. If he did, Kelsier would force him to take the metals, and he knew well enough that there wasn’t enough to keep him alive and make sure Kelsier was protected. And Kelsier had people depending on him. Nico was just a traitor. - Nico moved forward, not caring that he couldn’t be felt, not caring that he wasn’t corporeal. He gently touched Kelsier’s arm, searching his expression, trying to make him feel him there. “I’m okay,” he said numbly, knowing that couldn’t possibly make this better. “I’m here, I’m okay… listen to me, please…”

L blinked in, tensing a little as he noticed the living room had once again surrounded him. “Again?” He breathed, looking over his shoulder quickly and giving the room a quick scan. No one there. Probably. He shook his head, sighing and kicking his shoes off. It had been about three seconds since his last blink. Not that he was necessarily against the House pulling him in as often as it liked, but he was a little annoyed that his wait was being extended this long. He just wanted to know if Watari was okay, and he couldn’t exactly figure out what his next move should be if he was being blinked in constantly. Oh well. He couldn’t undo it, so instead he just walked towards the hall, fully expecting someone to join him soon.

“I am not in shock!” Kelsier snapped, narrowing his eyes at them. He probably was, but that wasn’t important. What mattered was that Nico was gone and Kelsier had only a hope that he’d come back. It needed to be much, much more than a hope. “You threw him,” he added, voice low and full of venom. “Who else might die? Quincy? You didn’t care much for them before. Me? Let it try. I hope it does. If you’re worried about yourself, then go.”

“-can’t just murder them!” Orpheus’ voice was about three octaves higher than normal. His face was pale and shocked, and he only began relaxing once he realized where he was. Relax was a relative term. He was stressed, uncertain what exactly he would have to do when he got back to his world. The world, as it turned out, was far more complicated than Orpheus had let himself think. He felt his hands trembling, and he very carefully plucked a few notes on his lyre to calm himself. He was in the House. Nobody was dying. Yet. He glanced up, his gaze catching on L as he tried to force a small smile. “Hello, Λ,” he murmured, voice tighter than usual. “How are you today…? This evening? I’m not sure… when it is for you,” he managed lamely.

L turned, startled at the stress in Orpheus’ voice as he appeared. His own problems slipped away and he stepped towards the other blinker, eyes widening a little. “Murder who?” He asked it a little bit urgently, searching his expression quickly. “Are you in danger? Is the crew doing something? If they’re violent then trying to stop them is risky…” He stopped, reigning himself in a little. Orpheus didn’t need him being overly worried when he couldn’t even help. It was just that...he wanted to help, somehow. “I’m nearly exactly the same as last time. It’s been less than five minutes for me,” he added, shaking his head a little. “So no updates.” He didn’t mention he was cold and hungry and tired, since Orpheus couldn’t help any of those things. He had his own problems it seemed, without L’s.

“In the crew’s defense they did try to murder us first,” Orpheus offered, though he knew that wasn’t particularly helpful. “But… I think we should just leave and get out without going back to get ‘revenge’… I didn’t think I’d have to deal with quite this much bloodshed,” he admitted, breathing out and trying to stop his thoughts and heart from racing. “They need me alive; I don’t think it’s terribly dangerous for me to try to stop them…” he raised a hand to scratch awkwardly at the back of his neck. “But you don’t need to worry about that, you have… plenty in your own world, I’m sure.” He plucked a few more notes on his lyre, his smile coming a little bit more confidently as his mind relaxed into the fac tthat he was in the House. “I’m sorry,” he added, expression falling just a bit. “This isn’t the first time I’ve wihsed I could be in your world to help, even a little bit.”

L nodded thoughtfully, his eyes narrowing a little. “I still don’t like it,” he said simply. “They’re still trying to kill people...but you already know that.” He sighed a little, his attempts to work out the situation in his head falling flat. He couldn’t actually do much, could he? “Be careful. If they have violent tendencies, they could hurt you without meaning to, or even hurt you with no intention to kill you. There are more things they can do than just murder, after all. He relaxed a little at the familiar sound of the lyre, letting both their worlds slip behind them. “It’s better than it was, at least,” he noted. “And I’m not dead. So overall it’s been going pretty well, I think.” He glanced at the hallway, tilting his head a little. “Room?”

“If they do that, I won’t help,” Orpheus replied, knowing full well that it was a lie. If helping meant he could save their lives, he would likely do it no matter how despicable they were. He heard the slight hitch in his voice when he said that, blushing a little as he realized L surely knew he was lying. Which made him blush harder, because if L hadn’t noticed the tiny change in tone, he was going to notice the blush. It was probably a good thing that Orpheus had never needed to lie for anything important before. “I’m glad you’re doing… okay,” Orpheus replied, choosing his words carefully. He knew ‘okay’ was relative, and that most people would consider L’s situation far from okay. But ‘alive’ was better than Orpheus had dared hope for before. “I think a room would be nice,” he added, a tiny smile crossing his features. “It might be a decent distraction.”

L knew immediately that Orpheus was lying, even before he started blushing. And then blushing more. He shook his head a little, deciding whether to call Orpheus out for it or not. On the one hand, Orpheus could make his own decisions. On the other hand… “Just...be careful, I suppose,” he said finally, and a flicker of worry crossed his features. “I know something of regret. It’s...unpleasant.” He left it at that, turning instead to head for the hallway. “Yes, I am okay,” he decided, testing the word carefully. He wasn’t...excellent, by any means, but okay was accurate. “I’ll be better when I find Watari, I think.” He paused, eyeing the doors. “It likely doesn’t matter which door we pick, but...would you like to choose one?”

Nico | Playground Obstacle Course | dawn Nico glanced between his options, tilting his head a little bit as he considered them. He was most familiar with climbing walls, and he was a little bit surprised to see that there was no lava dripping from this one. He took a few steps, following Rae just a bit closer to the obstacle course. He turned to look at her, searching her expression to see if she had any preference. But she had asked him, so… “That one,” he said, pointing to the monkey bars. It looked… difficult, but fun. Without thinking, he took off his own jacket, not seeming to mind the way the sun caught on his pale skin, making the scars he’d gotten from countless battles even more obvious. “Although… the rope path looks fun, too,” he mused, frowning a little. “Maybe the House will be nice enough to let us try a couple of the different routes.” He wasn’t going to put much faith into that, but it was technically a possibility. Nico looked up at Rae, shooting her a small smile before He climbed up the little metal ladder that gave them access to the monkey bars. Rae | Playground Obstacle Course | strider "Monkey bars it is!" Though Rae did try and keep up with training through her powers, she still hoped her arm strength was well enough to hold her across the bars. She hummed in response to Nico's muse and scanned back over the other starting points. "Well as long as nothing comes up to eat us from behind we could always turn back. Probably." It would be fun if they could go as many times as they wanted before leaving, but it was too hard to tell with the House.
Rae made way to the side so that Nico had room to climb first, flashing a grin back at him. "Don't slip now!" she called after him, the tone in her voice partially slipping back into that 'watchful older sibling' one that she probably hadn't used in a good while.

“I know, I know, it’s okay, hey...stay with me. Please.” They were just words, nothing more. He couldn’t hope to stop this from happening, he couldn’t do anything at all. Nico was dying, there was nothing he could do to make that go away. He closed his eyes for a long moment, then opened them, forcing a smile he didn’t feel. Would he have to learn how to smile again after this? Would he have to learn how to smile in a world where there was no Nico? He would, he knew that. But he didn’t want to think of that now. He needed this moment to never end. He needed this moment to last forever so Nico would never… He didn’t feel Nico touch his arm. He didn’t know he was there. Tears burned his eyes but he refused to let them fall, he wouldn’t let Nico see him cry. He needed to be strong for him, now more than ever before. “You need them more,” he breathed, and gently pushed Nico’s hand back, putting the vial at his lips again. “Please. Please take them. For me.” He didn’t care that there weren’t enough. All he wanted was for pewter to fix the damage he didn’t understand.

Matt | SSR | ®Hawkpath® |"You....think..." Matt frowned, puzzled, as the detective seemed to cut himself off, mouthing wordlessly. The first thing that came to mind, of course, being from Wammy's, was that L had gone nonverbal for one reason or another, so he backed off, giving him some space. "Okay, that's fine," he reassured him, moving over to the corpse and swallowing as he looked around at the scene. Okay. He could do this. If L was out of commission........yeah, he'd be fine. He was a Wammy's kid - for sure he could solve one little murder. He crouched down, trying to turn the body in front of him into a puzzle to make it less.....that way. This was a game. Yeah. A mystery game. With that thought in his head, he moved to the knife, turning it over in his hands. It was small and thin, still sticky with blood. Okay. That told him...........absolutely nothing.

“I promise I will be,” Orpheus replied, a tiny smile flickering across his face. At least L would know that he wasn’t lying. He did plan on being careful, even if being carefully was harder than it had any right to be. He just… didn’t want anyone to die, even if they weren’t technically “innocent.” It didn’t matter to him if they were or not. What mattered was that lives weren’t taken meaninglessly. As far as he was concerned, killing was an absolute last resort. “I hope you find him soon,” Orpheus added, letting out a small breath. He had met Watari now, and even if he didn’t know exactly what he was to L, he had a better idea. It reminded him a little bit of whatever Mr. Hermes was to him, but he kept that thought to himself. It was easier to think about doors than it was to think about what he would be doing in L’s place, with no access to Mr. Hermes or any other sort of safety. He glanced between them, eventually picking a door a bit further out than he had gone before. “This one?”

Nico | Playground Obstacle Course | dawn “Probably,” Nico echoed, letting himself smile just a little. “I’ll take those odds.” He pulled himself up towards where he could reach the monkey bars, grateful that, though it had been raised so that they could use it without scraping their feet in the dirt, it wasn’t so high that he couldn’t reach it. That would just be embarrassing. He glanced back down at Rae, something light in his expression as she cautioned him against slipping. “I think I’ve probably done more dangerous things in the past twenty-four hours than monkey bars!” he replied, but there was no anger in his tone, just a touch of lighthearted teasing. He reached up, catching hold of the first of the bars, then glanced back at Rae before swinging himself forward to grab the second. “Coming?” he asked, swinging towards the third to make room.

Nico managed a small nod, trying to keep his thoughts coherent enough to keep looking at Kelsier, to keep breathing, to keep existing for as long as he possibly could. He didn’t want to die. He wanted to live long enough to find the crew and apologize to them and explain why he had betrayed them. He wanted to live long enough to be turned away, because as far as he saw it… there really wasn’t another option. He breathed out, desperate eyes searching Kelsier. He almost protested more, but he didn’t have the strength to. He swallowed the metals, not letting himself think of what might happen if they were attacked. They might be… they were in front of Keep di Angelo and Hades was dead… if any Inquisitors found them. Nico coughed again, body shaking with the effort as his breathing came even harder, even more desperate. “I’m… I’m scared,” he managed, reaching for Kelsier’s hand. “I’m scared.” He would never have admitted it to anyone else, but he trusted Kelsier more than he had ever trusted anyone else. “I want… I want to see a world without the Lord Ruler, I want to be here to see it…” he could feel pewter burn to life in his stomach, easing the pain enough that he could relax into Kelsier. - “Dad,” Nico murmured, the word sounding foreign on his lips. He didn’t bother to change it, even if Kelsier couldn’t hear him. “He’s… not going to make it. Just… just look at me, please. It’s the House, it’s the House that’s making you see this…” he trailed off, leaning his head against Kelsier’s shoulder. “Gods dammit… I don’t want to watch this.”

L kept forgetting that this Watari didn’t actually know him, and had no reason to believe anything he said. He couldn’t quite seem to reconcile the House with Watari in his head. The two were separate. Not fast Watari wasn’t aware of the House, he knew of it, but being inside it was very, very different. He kept moving, wishing he’d kept his shoes on for fathers first time as he looked at the rubble. It was...inconvenient, but he’d manage. It was pretty clear to him that Watari didn’t understand what was happening here. He wanted to give a detailed explanation...but the older man had insisted on a room first. So here they were. He was a little annoyed, but mostly he was just worried. “He’s from another world,” he continued, trying his best not to pour in too much information at the same time. “Or...a different time, at least, we aren’t sure about the world part in his case. But people from other worlds do come here.”
