L blinked, then gave a small nod, acknowledging that. He was rather like Near, he thought, though he liked to think he had some of Mello’s heart in him. Even if it didn’t always look like he did. As for Matt...Matt, overlooked because he wasn’t on track or be the second L. L himself liked to try and keep up on all the kids and what they needed, but he knew not being physically present made that difficult. Still, he had Watari give personal reports on them after his visits, which helped. He nodded, heading over to join the other blinker as he spoke. “Yes, alright,” he agreed, leaving his shoes behind. He noticed Matt was older, obviously, and he hoped that nothing from his future would be mentioned, but he was eager to spend more time with him in spite of the risks.

Nico listened, eyes not leaving Rae as she explained. He didn’t think it would be very easy to see people that way, but he was getting better. Then again, he’d always had better luck understanding people here than he did in his own world. They were more likely to give him a chance, so he was more likely to return the favor. Maybe it was just that he wasn’t feared here. Maybe it was the fact that there were still people who had gotten to known him when he was a child. “You’re better at bringing the good out,” Nico murmured, scanning the doors as they walked. He couldn’t help but wonder the same thing. If the House made rooms because it enjoyed making them, or because it was an expectation now. If it ever recycled rooms for people who had never been in the first version… creating rooms seemed like a lot of work. “I think if it did it would probably just start reusing rooms,” Nico commented, shrugging. He followed Rae’s point to the door, then gave a small nod. “Why not?” It only took a few quick steps to meet her there. Nico glanced up, double checking with her that this was the door, then turned the handle and stepped in, making sure to hold it open for Rae. Rae | hallway/playground obstacle course room | strider As she'd pushed ahead Rae hadn't caught the first part from Nico, and she only turned curiously when he caught up with her to confirm the door. She gave him a sort of mock bow when he held the door for her, and she quickly crossed into the room with a very noticeable bounce to her step.
A light breeze hit Rae's face upon entering, but the air felt stiff and not as fresh as the real outside world. But as her eyes squinted to adjust to the sunlight overhead, her gaze sparkled at the sight of the obstacle course that expanded out in front of her. "Nico, Nico! Check it out!" Everything was clearly modeled after playground equipment instead of something from an actual boot camp. But seeing the brightly colored plastic obstacles and rope netting familiar from her youth only fueled the childish energy that had been building within Rae since she blinked.

Matt | Living room | ®Hawkpath® |Matt, for his part, was fully aware he was overlooked at Wammy's. He knew he'd never amount to anything - not like Near, or even Mello, or any of the others at the orphanage. Truthfully, he sometimes wondered why he'd been picked to stay there at all. Near was a genius, sure, Mello was.....a blunt instrument, but his own brand of genius. They had incredible painters, prodigies around every corner, and Matt was just...Matt. He was good at video games, sure, but that hardly counted as a marketable skill in Wammy's. And he was good at computers, but no better than any of the other hacking geniuses there. It really was a mystery to him. "Great, let's go," he said enthusiastically, his bright tone giving away none of his slightly troubled thoughts. He pulled open the door, and stepped inside... To see a simple hotel hallway, one door slightly ajar, and a corpse lying in the middle of the floor, blood seeping into the carpet. "Okay!!" he said, his voice several octaves higher than usual. "Well, we're off to a great start here!"

Madoka | living room| @ anyone Madoka bounced in with her blink, rolling from her heels up to her toes. Her hands were clasped around, well, nothing anymore, and the disappointment became apparent on her face as she settled down to find an empty living room. Madoka's fingers reached to fiddle with her ring as she called out a "Hello?" just in case.

Sol blinked into the living room, midway through a sharp whistle, fingers to her lips to amplify the sound. "Here!" she called loudly, then stopped short as her voice was muffled by the suddenly tight quarters of the living room. She stomped, trying to confirm, and sighed heavily when she heard the familiar creak of old wood.
"Was kind of in the middle of something..." she muttered grouchily, then shrugged, shoving her hands in her pockets to grip her knives. "Okay. Who's here?"

If L had known what Matt was thinking, he’d have assured him that he belonged as much as anyone else did. He didn’t think it was fair or possible to divide people based on ‘smart’ or ‘not smart’. How could anyone tell how smart someone was? He himself was considered a genius, but that was only one sort of intelligence. He would be considered an idiot using several others he could think of. Matt was there because he belonged there. No children were prioritized, L made sure of that. Otherwise the pressure of being successful would get to them, they’d bade their self-esteem on whatever L said it should be. But he didn’t know, and instead he followed Matt into the room. And promptly stopped. House person or blinker…? He moved forward quickly, wishing he had gloves so as not to taint the evidence, though he doubted it mattered as much in this situation. Still...old habits. He crouched next to the body, inspecting it for clues. Anything that might give a hint as to what had happened here.

Sol | Living room | dawn |"Woah, hold on, Squeaks," said Sol, taking a step back as the chirpy girl moved into her bubble of personal space. Her fingers tightened around her knife, but her hand didn't leave her pocket - yet. "Stay back. Just about out of stab range would be good." Of course, she couldn't tell if the girl was the exact right distance away, but she at least didn't want her breathing down her neck. Not until she knew what she wanted from her.

Sol | Living room | dawn |"Uh....huh..." Sol narrowed her eyes, relaxing just slightly as it seemed the girl didn't plan to attack outright. She wasn't sure how far she'd backed away, but she'd listened to the warning. "I'm Sol," she continued cautiously, glad her poof of hair somewhat obscured her eyes. Sometimes, it wasn't great if another survivor knew you were blind right off the bat. If they didn't know, it was easier to get a one up on them. "So. You're stuck here too?"

Matt | Swapped Skills Room | ®Hawkpath® |"Woah woah woah, hey dude!" said Matt, alarmed, as his new companion promptly crouched down and started poking at the very fresh corpse. He looked around, as if expecting the cops to come pouring out at any moment, and then back to L. "Maybe we should, uh.... not contaminate a crime scene? I'm pretty sure that's a thing you're not supposed to do like ever, unless you like jail."

Sol | Living room | dawn |"If you can't leave whenever you want, you're stuck here," argued Sol, a bit off balance. She wasn't sure if Madoka could somehow leave whenever she wanted, or if she was just being really, really cheerful. She paused as the girl asked her second question, thinking. How many times had she been here? "Not a lot, I guess," she said, shrugging. "Is that what you call it? 'Blinking'?"

L looked up, raising an eyebrow at Matt’s panic, an almost amused expression crossing his features. “This is the House,” he pointed out calmly, inspecting the wound. “And I am a detective. Besides, we’re unlikely to need to or be able to run fingerprints here, there are no bags to put evidence in, and I don’t have gloves. I doubt we’re meant to completely ignore the body.” He glanced around for the murder weapon, noting its location as well as what it was, then getting up and moving to the other side of the body. “Although...with no knowledge of who this person was...suspects might be a bit of a problem.”

Steve blinked into the house leaning on a nailed bat that had seen better days, still decked out in messy denim jeans and a green sweater. He had specks of blood dispersed across his clothes but dried enough to solidify. Too bad the same couldn’t be said about his bruised face as a dull pain emanated through his skull. Pain was fresh but he’d live. Maybe. His posture was stiff, waiting for the other shoe to drop. The teen had not been looking at Madoka or Sol upon blinking in, half of his vision was blurred and half expecting for the monster to rear its ugly head. “Hey.” He gave a little wave without lifting his right hand to Madoka, maybe a blessing someone nice was there with him. Steve didn’t want the other kid to bite his hand off, but that was the Demogorgon’s job. Letting the current blink settle in didn’t feel right or real at all. A familiar ache went through him, as much as the discomfort with Nancy and Jonathan brought upon him at least they wouldn’t be so fretful upon seeing him in this condition.

L | Living Room | Mint L nodded a little, noting his discomfort at the topic. "So you are afraid of fish," he mused, shifting his weight a little on the couch. "I see. Is there a reason, or..." Then again, he probably wouldn't appreciate that line of questioning, and L didn't need answers. He stared at Kid instead, dark eyes unblinking. "I've been trying to stay alive," he said simply after a moment. "My chances are higher than they were, though. I still will likely die in the next couple of days, but it's not as likely as it was." Kid | Living Room | Hawk Considering how Kid pressed his lips together in an effort not to frown, it was a pretty obvious what his opinions were on telling L exactly why he was afraid of fish. He just didn't want to do it. It did not seem to be his cup of tea, for lack of a better way of describing it. So he was glad that L didn't try. "You seem to have greatly desensitized yourself to the idea of your own death," Kid noted after a second. "Are you not afraid of it?"

Sol | Living room | dawn Lark |Sol hadn't expected the girl to just..... agree with her. She was so nice and cheerful it was starting to make her extremely suspicious. What was she playing at? Why was she pouring it on so thick? "I - " she began, and then paused, thinking. "I don't have any questions. I know pretty much all about this place," she continued at last. A lie, but a safe one. If Madoka though she knew the ins and outs of this place, she was much less likely to try and pull one over on her. She tensed at the sound of another, older, taller voice somewhere off to the side, and her hand flew to her knife again, turning to angle her body towards this new potential threat instead of Madoka, who, for now, seemed more than harmless. Not that she was fooled. But, priorities. "Psst. Squeaks," she hissed, hoping Madoka would catch the sound. "Big guy. He got a weapon?"

Nico | Playground Obstacle Course Room | dawn Nico blinked at the sudden brightness, eyes widening a little bit as he took in the scene. It wasn’t quite the same as outside, but it was… nice. He wasn’t quite used to sunny rooms like this. He wasn’t sure he trusted them more than any other room, but… he had a good feeling about this one, which was a rare enough feeling that he was inclined to pay it heed. His eyes widened a bit as his vision finally cleared enough that he could see what Rae was looking at. A soft smile drifted across his features as he took in what she was clearly excited about. “It’s like Camp, but significantly less dangerous,” he murmured, unable to keep the excitement out of his own voice. It looked fun, and he hadn’t had enough of a chance to have fun lately. Still… it felt better to let Rae take the lead on this one. She seemed to know what it was better than he did, and he didn’t want to mess anything up.

Rico | playground obstacle course room | strider Well, she hoped it really wasn't deceptively dangerous. She knew very well from past experiences that anything harmless could change in an instant. However Rae wasn't going to let those thoughts get in the way of having a fun time. "Let's go see," she said, giving Nico a nudge with her shoulder as she took charge.
Everything was slightly more scaled up as opposed to being perfectly kid sized, so even Rae wasn't too big to take part. The course seemed to stretch on for a good bit, enough where she couldn't quite tell if there was anything at the end of it. "Man, I haven't done anything like this in years," she murmured only half out loud. There were a few starting options; one had tires inclining up to a wooden landing, another with monkey bars going over a muddy ditch, and the last was a mock rock climbing wall that led up where a rope path began overhead.
Rae couldn't help but to grin. She slipped off her jacket so she could tie it around her waist and turned her gaze back to Nico. "So! Where do you wanna start?"

Nico | Playground Obstacle Course | dawn Nico glanced between his options, tilting his head a little bit as he considered them. He was most familiar with climbing walls, and he was a little bit surprised to see that there was no lava dripping from this one. He took a few steps, following Rae just a bit closer to the obstacle course. He turned to look at her, searching her expression to see if she had any preference. But she had asked him, so… “That one,” he said, pointing to the monkey bars. It looked… difficult, but fun. Without thinking, he took off his own jacket, not seeming to mind the way the sun caught on his pale skin, making the scars he’d gotten from countless battles even more obvious. “Although… the rope path looks fun, too,” he mused, frowning a little. “Maybe the House will be nice enough to let us try a couple of the different routes.” He wasn’t going to put much faith into that, but it was technically a possibility. Nico looked up at Rae, shooting her a small smile before He climbed up the little metal ladder that gave them access to the monkey bars.

The boy would stay dead either way - oh, damn it all. They turned around, and walked a few paces forward, crossing the distance between them. Their eyes, still red, still with bloody tear-streaks on their face, were steely as they settled on Nico's still form, considering it as something inside them cracked and froze. Oh. Now they were angry. "We need to leave," they said, their tone icy, icy cold, with no trace of the heat that they'd aimed at Kelsier earlier.

Kelsier looked up slowly, his hazel eyes fixing on Hange as they came towards them. They’d been crying, he realized, and narrowed his eyes a little, the tears doing nothing to soften him towards them. What right did they have to cry for Nico? They’d tossed him aside like he was nothing. They hadn’t listened to him, they hadn’t respected him. They had no right to cry now that he was…. He didn’t speak. His fingers itched for vengeance, but it was against the House, not Hange. Then again...he wasn’t feeling particularly reasonable at the moment. “Now you’re willing to look for a way out?” He snapped, pulling Nico’s body into a protective embrace. He would never have done it while he was alive unless expressly told it was okay, but he didn’t think it mattered much now. He straightened up slowly, holding the boy so his head rested on Kelsier’s chest. He glanced at Quincy, eyes narrowed, but he didn’t bother answering them. They might have been a person, but they were a House person. He didn’t feel very forgiving of that fact at the moment.

L glanced back as the other two spoke, and nodded at Orpheus. “Yes, they are related, a helipad is where a helicopter lands,” he tried to explain, then realized that that probably...wasn’t helpful. He shook his head a little as Watari made his attempt. “No, he’s from Ancient Greece, he doesn’t know what a helicopter is.” He explained calmly, then turned to Orpheus again. “A helicopter is a...well, a bit like a boat that can fly, I suppose. It has blades that spin very fast, and is controlled from the inside. There will be room for all of us if it’s a normal helicopter, though it will be very loud if the House didn’t give us any ear protection...headphones - they can carry sound - are what are normally used so we can communicate.” He trailed off, realizing too late that this was not the time or place for this. He turned and kept moving, ignoring the sense that he wasn’t as good in the field as he was behind the scenes. He could do both. Probably.
