Orpheus blinked (as much as fish could blink?) and let himself drift close enough to bridge the gap between the two of them. He flared his fins, then looked back to see what he had just done. He looked… bigger. Defense mechanism? Possibly. He had never seen a fish so bright before, though… “No, I can’t hear your thoughts,” he confirmed, letting his fin brush up against L’s. It wasn’t as comforting as it might’ve been had they been human. “Does this room have a purpose?” he asked, turning to look at L when he realized they were no longer alone. The new fish was bigger and if Orpheus swam just a bit in front of L (despite L being larger this time around) to shield him from the bigger, longer fish, could anybody blame him?

L tried to nod and ended up almost doing a flip instead, barely managing to steady himself in time by flapping his fins. He had managed to go mostly still against by the time Orpheus got closer, and he drifted a little closer himself, glancing at him. “No,” he said simply, glancing around and taking it all in. “At least...the chances are low,” he amended. “Not nonexistent. But low enough that I’m not too concerned right now. Typically when a room changes you so dramatically, there isn’t much of a purpose. I think it’s probably because the House is entertained enough by us struggling to swim and doesn’t need anything else...still, don’t let your guard down completely. There might be sharks. Or divers.” He broke off as he heard a voice and turned at the same time Orpheus did. His eyes would have widened if they could have, but as it was he merely stared. “...Kid?” He asked uncertainly. It had been...a long time since he’d seen Kid, but he thought he recognized his voice.

The spinning of the eel that was Kid eventually resulted in Kid noticing the fish. He completely froze, which was quite a feat when he was still getting buffeted by the water flow. If an eel could have been sweating, this one would have been. Then when one addressed him - clearly L - the eel very visible started to twist it's body backwards to start swimming in the opposite direction. Maybe it was cable of swimming backwards, but it was doubtful. But all eel-Kid wanted to do was go hide somewhere away from the f-f-fish. "Noooooooooot here," he said. Or sort of said. Whatever the equivalent of 'said' for an eel was.

Orpheus retreated just a little bit as it became clear that, whoever the eel was, L knew him. Which probably meant he wasn’t a threat, no matter how much larger he was than the two of them. If L wasn’t nervous, that meant he was trustworthy – Orpheus trusted L’s judgment implicitly – if only because he was a little bit more discerning than Orpheus was. And… the eel seemed a lot more afraid of them than Orpheus was of him. Kid? That was an interesting name, but Orpheus didn’t dwell on it. Instead he stayed where he was, spinning a little so he could look at L. “He seems nervous,” he commented, obviously not liking that. He didn’t enjoy being intimidating. He would much rather try to be someone’s friend than to scare them. Here, though, he wasn’t sure he had a choice.

L tried to tilt his head as the eel that was Kid froze, then flipped and swam away. He tried to blink a little, staring after him but making no attempt to follow, because he didn’t know why he’d run - swam - in the first place. “Yes...he doesn’t usually run away from me when I say his name,” he replied uncertainly, glancing at Orpheus as though he thought it best to clarify this right away. “I haven’t seen him for a while, though...perhaps something changed. Perhaps that name is dangerous for him now.” A thought based entirely on personal experience, yes, but his immediate theory nonetheless. “I didn’t get to introduce you to him,” he added a little sadly. “I don’t think any of my friends know each other...which, I suppose, given that I have very few of them, isn’t surprising, but it would be nice if they did. And I think you’d like Kid.”

Kid swam a bit deeper, but then figured that this would probably just have more fish. There weren't exactly a lot of good options. So again the eel whipped around, apparently quite conflicted about where he was going to go. It was just twisting over himself several times, struggling over what to do. Finally, he settled one continuing to do the same twisting motion in an attempt to keep his eyes on everything at once. This also didn't help the immortals secondary fear of drowning, but since he seemed to be managing to breath the water just fine, he didn't really think about it. Just sort of watched the now more distant Orpheus and L.

Orfishus | Hey Kid, How You fEeling? “Oh,” Orpheus hummed softly, swimming in a small circle around L. He didn’t like the feeling of being pushed around by the current – he would much rather try to take control of where he went, even if that meant swimming rather erratically. “I’m not sure it’s the name,” he said after a moment, swimming just a bit closer so he could see what Kid was doing. While it was a cool acrobatic trick, Orpheus didn’t think he was doing it for that reason. He seemed frightened, and if had just been because of his name, Orpheus had a feeling he would have stopped to talk to L about not using that name. At least… that seemed like the polite thing to do. “Maybe he’ll come back!” he said hopefully, letting himself drift for a long moment before turning and darting back near L. “I’d like to meet him, too. I’d like to meet all your friends, actually.”

L turned, following Orpheus with his eyes as the other blinker swam, his expression curious. The current made it hard to stay in one place, but unlike Orpheus, this didn’t much bother L. He didn’t fight it as he drifted slightly, and if he did try to stay in one place, it was more so as not to mess up Orpheus’ circle than anything else. He considered that carefully, glancing over at Kid again, pausing as he noticed the spinning. He studied his other friend for a long moment, then looked at Orpheus, a sliver of concern in his fish eyes. “If it’s not the name, then...well...the difference between when he last saw me and now is that I am a fish. And you are a fish. Perhaps...he’s afraid of fish?” He started a little when Orpheus darted back, then did a small, slow flip. “Well...you’ve technically met Myrnin,” he mused. “I wish you’d met him under better circumstances, though.”

| Enjolfish the Angel fish | Fish Room | Enjolras blinked into the room, suddenly feeling weightless. Light filtered down through the rippling ceiling and he realized that he was underwater, sunlight slanting through the waves. His immediate reaction was to hold his breath, but he found that he really didn't need to, and that when he did hold his breath, his gills merely stopped filtering water- wait. He turned, catching sight of trailing fins as he drifted sideways in the current, taking in the change. He then righted himself, tentatively swimming against the current and feeling out how to maneuver. He heard voices- not from the outside world, but echoing in his head. And he saw a trio of other fish that were decidedly not behaving like regular fish- they must be the other blinkers. He swam over and offered a simple "Bonjour" in greeting. If they were actually fish and not blinkers he was going to feel silly saying hello to random fish.

Orfishus | A New Friend? Fintastic! Orpheus settled down after a few moments, deciding it was probably easier to let the current push him, even if he didn’t much enjoy the passive movement. He paced, sometimes, when he was working on songs, but that movement was all him. It wasn’t because the air was buffeting him or anything. He wasn’t used to moving not of his own accord. Perhaps, though… staying still would be less frightening for Kid? He forced himself to stay as still as possible, his gills moving and his fins pushing back to stay in place, but he stopped darting everywhere. “I hope he’s not scared of fish,” Orpheus commented, concern in his voice. He couldn’t really show it on his features – they didn’t quite move normally. At the mention of Myrnin he fell still for a few moments, then slowly pushed himself back up to float next to L. “I hope my first impression of him was inaccurate,” he said after a long moment, pleased to find someone else approaching. That would be a nice distraction from the topic of Myrnin. At least Orpheus could refrain from judging him for a little longer. Hopefully until he met him for real. “Hello,” he returned to the Enjolfish, attempting a smile before remembering that wasn’t going to work.

The appearance of yet another fish had something like a strangled yelp coming from Kid, even if it wasn't an audible sound. The darting every which way got decidedly worse, which likely confirmed the fear of fish situation. He also clearly wanted to hide, but there wasn't anywhere to hide. It was mostly just darting around in circles now. The octopus that appeared - blinked rather - didn't seem particularly surprised, all things considered. "Oooh," he said. "It's the House." It was a bit ... odd to move. Very odd, in fact. Much more limbs. Much more clumsy muscles and things that didn't work how they were supposed to, enough to that moving them around tipped Myrnin over a couple times as he slowly sunk a bit. "Waaaaaater," he noted. "Don't particularly like water. Nasty things in water." More arm movement before he worked a bit of it out. Then he straightened himself and located the nearest fish. "Who's all you lot?" he asked brightly, waving about six of the eight arms, even if that made him drift down.

FiL | Speak of the vampire L watched Orpheus, drifting a bit himself. It was an odd sensation, floating like this...he only needed to vaguely flap in a direction to end up going that way. But Orpheus seemed to be getting used to it, so it was alright. He, too, paced occasionally, though more often he tapped or stacked things or nibbled. “That would be a bad fear,” L agreed, a bit of worry slipping into his tone. “I didn’t know that, if he is. But approaching him if we’re the thing he’s afraid of seems like a bad idea…” He glanced over, noticing Orpheus’ stillness at the mention of Myrnin. “You haven’t met him outside of the second arena room, then,” he noted. “As I said...a bad first impression.” He paused, then looked up as a couple of others approached. He didn’t recognize the first one, and therefore just gave a small nod to acknowledge him, then heard the second voice and turned towards the octopus. “Myrnin, hello,” he said without moving (much), waving a fin in greeting and accidentally rolling upside down. It took him a moment to straighten himself again, but when he had he looked at Orpheus, then moved a little closer to him, as though trying to ease his worry.

| Enjolfish the Angel fish | Fish Room | "Ah, so you are other blinkers." Enjolras confirmed as Orpheus answered him. He swum in a quick circle, taking in the sight of the ocean. The little group plus the twisting eel seemed to be the only fish in sight, and they were all blinkers. Hopefully the House didn't send a shark or anything. He shot a glance of concern towards Kid, asking, "Is he alright?" He recognized Myrnin's voice, and if he had been human he would have smiled a little bit. An octopus fit him. He waved a fin back, though it sent him drifting sideways a bit in the current. He quickly corrected his course, swimming lightly against the current to stay in place. "I'm Enjolras." He confirmed. "And you're Myrnin?"

Orpheus blinked, stepping back and putting his hands over his ears as the bag popped open. As soon as it was clear there was nothing dangerous about it, he tentatively stepped forwards and picked up one of the orange things that had been inside. “It feels weird,” he said, squeezing it and feeling the crispness of it give a little and crumble into more orange dust. It was absolutely covered in orange dust, and looking at the back, he had no idea what the weird creature had to do with the powdery orange things on the inside. “Cheetos,” he read, tilting his head at the weird sound the word made. “I’m not sure I’m pronouncing that right, it looks… weird.” He flipped the package over, scanning over what little information seemed to be there. “Nutritional facts?” Orpheus’ brow furrowed, and he looked up at Theta. “I think… maybe they’re supposed to be… edible?” They didn’t look edible. Anything that brightly colored was supposed to be toxic, right? That was why butterflies and frogs got so brightly colored, to prove to potential predators that they wouldn’t be very good to eat. "Are they edible for us though?" asked Theta, crouching and picking one up. Then, with zero hesitation, he stuck it in his mouth. Consider he regularly did this with a lot of things, this action was hardly surprising. The orange maybe edible thing was in his mouth for a couple seconds before he pulled it out again. "I wouldn't say it tastes edible." But then he stuck it back in his mouth and starting to munch on it with a relish that was completely disjointed from what he had said. Considering he picked another one off the ground and repeated the action of munching on them, it was starting to look more like a fib so he could have the collection of floor-Cheetos to himself. "Very, very not edible," he added with confidence. "Probably will become like that odd spotted creature on the bag if you eat them." Now wouldn't that be cool. "I'm sure the other parcels are also equally inedible," he added.

Orpheus let himself sink a little bit at the sound of Myrnin’s voice. Ah. Well… it was just like the House to do that. He was grateful that L moved a little closer, and even more grateful that L was technically bigger than him. He was… mildly intimidated by Myrnin, to say the least. He had seen him kill one of the strongest people Orpheus had ever… wait. “Second arena room?” he asked, overcompensating a little bit with how hard he was moving his fins. He ended up just a little bit further forward than he had meant to go. At least everyone else seemed comfortable around Myrnin. Myrnin likely didn’t even know who he was… yes, Orpheus decided, it must have just been a bad first impression. He couldn’t hold that against Myrnin. He wasn’t the only one who had killed in that room. As if on cue, a shark appeared a few feet away from the group. He was fairly small (well… bigger than anyone else who had blinked in, but small shark wise), and seemed to immediately panic at the feeling of water rolling over his back. Nico darted forward, trying to swim up to the surface. It took him a while to realize he could breathe, and even longer to realize why he was moving so fast. Oh. Of course the House had decided this was amusing. He sank just a little bit, edging away from the other blinkers, but still circling around to see if he recognized any of them.

| Enjolfish the angel fish | Fish Room | And... he'd jinxed it. Oops. Thanks House. Enjolfish turned and swam away, almost instinctively, feeling his tail propel him through the water as the shark started to circle. He didn't realize Nico was a blinker instead of a House created threat.

FiL | Fishhhhh L paused, turning to look at Orpheus, as he….ah. He didn’t know about the first arena room...no one had told him. L knew he hadn’t. Still, he hadn’t realized when he’d called it that that he would be making that clear...stupid. He had wanted his friends to meet and immediately brought up the time one of them had killed him. Because that was going to help. “Second, yes,” he confirmed reluctantly. “And, yes, your extrapolation is correct, there was a first one.” He glanced at Myrnin, and if he’d been human he would have been frowning. “I will...tell you about it, I promise, but perhaps not now.” He was bad with knowing what to say and when to say it, but even he could see some valid reasons against discussing the first arena room right when Myrnin blinked in. Besides, he was a bit sad that it would probably make Orpheus upset. He wanted to put it off a little. He turned sharply at the sound of someone else blinking in, and moved, shielding Orpheus from it instinctively. “Shark,” he said quietly. It could be a blinker, of course, but better paranoid than dead.

"Oh," Myrnin said, sounding slightly concerned when he heard the one voice. "We're talking about the arena rooms ..." There seemed to be an attempt to glance at L - like 'what are you telling him?' - even though Myrnin didn't know who he was. But there was a bit of a distraction as something very large appeared. He heard a shriek from behind him and turned, not particularly concerned about the shark, to see and eel darting away. Rather unfortunately in the same direction as the unknown angelfish. Myrnin wondered whether the eel saw it - or not. Nope. The eel rammed right into the fish. There was another mental shriek. Whoops? "Who's he?" Myrnin asked, turning back to the other two fish and the shark. "He seems freaked out." He looked at the shark too, apparently completely unconcerned. "Who are you?"

“Alright,” Orpheus responded, though it was clear from his tone that he wasn’t too pleased about the whole first arena room being kept from him. From the way Myrnin and L were looking at each other, there was some history. Huh. So it turned out fish could be oddly expressive. Or maybe it was just that Myrnin’s eight arms allowed him to be oddly expressive and Orpheus had begun to get used to reading L’s tone. Either way, he got the gist – there was something that happened, and now wasn’t the best time to discuss it. “Later,” he agreed softly, though the possibility of any discussion happening now disappeared as a shark joined them. Orpheus couldn’t see it, given how quickly L had turned to protect him, and he couldn’t help the blossom of warmth in the pit of his stomach. He dipped down a little bit to try to see, but he very clearly knew that he wouldn’t be able to protect L against the shark should it try to attack. Nico wasn’t going to attack. He immediately drifted off kilter as two of the fish fled, then turned his attention towards the other two as his body began to drift towards the bottom. Well… if it was the House… that should be safe. Right? He thrashed his tail twice to get back up into the water, deciding he didn’t want to risk touching the sandy bottom. Were there two fish there with the octopus, or only one? It was hard to tell. He only heard one and based on the way they were looking… yes, that was the octopus. That was Myrnin. Odd. Being an octopus suited the vampire, especially one as flashy as that. “Myrnin?” he asked, very clearly relieved. He needed to make sure, though… he was okay at identifying voices, but it had never been his strongest skill.

| Enjolfish the angel fish | Fish Room | As Enjolras swam away from the shark, he was relieved to see it wasn't immediately going after him. And then he saw a flash of movement behind him. He darted to the side, but the eel smacked into him and sent him careening off in another direction, fins flapping as he tried to right himself. It was weird to float like that, moving and turning freely without being impeded by gravity. "What the-" He started to say as a cry of fright bounced around in his little fish brain. Ouch. Too loud.

FiL | Awkward “They came up, but we’re not talking about them,” L said firmly, looking back at Myrnin. Being a fish was a pain, but it was easier to stare at people. Not that he had ever found that particularly difficult in the first place. He was mostly unreadable anyway. - he didn’t see why being a fish would change much in that respect. It was actually easier to keep his emotions off his face this way. He wished he could become a fish for interrogations, but then, that might not work out very well, unless the suspects also became fish, in which case he would lose his ability to read them too...no, he was overthinking this. Probably because Orpheus sounded like he didn’t approve of the first arena room being kept from him, and Myrnin was giving him a searching look as though trying to figure out his angle, and L wasn’t sure how to talk to them both at the same time. “Myrnin, this is my best friend, Orpheus,” he said after a moment, deciding that the best course of action was to include them both in a different conversation. “He was...in the second arena room. In the room with the computers and food.” He looked at the others again, and winced as a cry cut straight through his brain. “Ow,” he muttered, and looked at the shark again. It was coming closer. And then it spoke. L looked at Myrnin, pausing. “Is he a blinker?” He asked after a moment. If he was, then they should still be relatively safe.

“Not enough,” Nico replied, shaking his head. “I haven’t given enough back. But… thank you.” He pulled his knees a little bit closer to his chest, gaze catching on Kelsier and staying there for a very long time. “But… maybe you’re right. Maybe it’s about more than making up for my mistakes, but that’s always going to be part of it.” Nico blinked. He hadn’t actually expected the House to allow him to say that. Did that mean it was the truth, or did it mean the truth serum was wearing off? I’m straight, Nico tried, making a pained expression as the words stayed stuck in his head. Well… at least that meant he believed himself about doing things for more reasons than just to right his wrongs. A tiny spark of pride burned in his chest, and he was careful not to let it immediately stutter out. It might not have been much, but it was something. A step forward. A step to being who he wanted to be instead of just erasing who he had been when he was young and stupid. “I’ll try,” Nico managed softly, trying to force a small smile. Nico didn’t know if it was harder to force than usual because the truth serum detected that the smile was a lie, or just because he really wasn’t feeling it. Kelsier had messed up. Nico had the scar to prove it. But… he was also kind and brave and honorable and everything that Nico wanted to be but was fairly certain he would never achieve. He was just… not the same as Kelsier. He wasn’t capable of the same charisma. He was just… the son of Hades, who was in the right place at the right time and just so happened to have the right skills to help. Sometimes, Nico thought that was all he was ever going to be. After a long moment, Nico allowed himself to hop down from the table, instead leaning against the same wall as Kelsier and slowly sliding down to the floor. “You’re capable of the impossible,” Nico whispered, not quite looking up at Kelsier. “I mean… I am too, I guess, I wasn’t supposed to be able to survive Tartarus, but… your ‘try’ has a better chance of success than mine does, I think. Maybe it’s just because you’ve convinced yourself that you’re untouchable. Maybe it’s because you’ve convinced everyone else of that, too.” He hung his head just a little bit, then let it lean against Kelsier’s leg. “They don’t think I can do it.”

Myrnin and Kid | Fishy Fishy "Oh," said Myrnin, slightly unimpressed. "I thought you were ... together. You're doing the fishy thing." He didn't elaborate about what the 'fishy thing' was. He just sounded unimpressed. Then almost at once his attention swiveled to Nico and all his arms started waving. Nope, actually, that was bad for swimming. Course correction! He started to move them to swim around in circles instead. "Nico! You're big! You're sharky. Snico! ... Oh wait, that sounds like a snack. Ah well." He sounded very hyper and chatty. He spun again and this time said to L, "Yep." Then an arm waved at Orpheus, even though in this case it seemed like much more wary wave. Meanwhile, the rather noisy eel was having great issues with the proximity - and the very literal run-in - with an fish. Again, Kid spun, then just seemed to curl up and start sinking. He was done. This room was terrible. He didn't want to have to deal with this. Two eyes sort of glared in Enjolras' direction as the eel sunk slowly.

And Enjolras was starting to figure out that the eel was desperately trying to avoid other fish. So he stopped approaching him and fanned out his fins, bobbing in place in the water. He turned, seeing Shark Nico not attacking. Oh. Well, who could blame him for being cautious? He paused for a moment, watching the situation.

Orfishus and Snico | Fish ><,0 “No need to talk about them now,” Orpheus confirmed, wishing he could give a small smile to confirm. Instead he flared out his fins in an attempt to show his agreement. He wasn’t sure it came across right, but… it was the thought that counted, right? Although… he did want to talk about them eventually. Especially because there had been a first one, and Orpheus hadn’t even known. He had a feeling it had something to do with L telling him he had died once in the House. That train of thought was almost immediately abandoned as L’s words registered. Best friend. Was that what Orpheus was? Did he deserve the title? He wasn’t sure he did, but it made him glow a little bit with pride anyway. Orpheus himself didn’t have very many friends, and L was his best friend too, but… L had done things to deserve it. Orpheus had just… well, he’d been himself. Perhaps that was good enough. He was about to say something when Myrnin’s statement processed. “Fishy… thing?” he asked, flipping upside down in confusion before he righted himself. “Either way… it was… nice to meet you, Myrnin. Under better circumstances than before.” He ignored the comment about being together. He wasn’t sure he wanted to know what Myrnin meant. Nico almost darted forward as Myrnin’s excited arm waving resulted in him tipping backwards a bit, but he quickly remembered the two other fish huddling nearby. Right. He was a shark. Sharks ate fish. He opened his mouth experimentally, deciding almost immediately that he didn’t think his mouth was large enough to effectively eat the larger fish of the two, at least. And he didn’t want to eat the smaller one. “Snico?” Nico repeated, seemingly unamused. “Okay, Myrnoctopus.” He began to swim a little, realizing it was difficult to keep his balance if he just stayed in one place. “I’m a blinker,” he confirmed, hating how much bigger he was than the others. It made him feel like a target, in spite of the fact he was the most dangerous one here. “Your voice seems familiar,” he added, shrugging as best he could with fins.

FiL | Myrnin no It didn’t fully process for L, what he’d said. It was the truth, that was all. He had introduced Orpheus with the title that best fit him. Best friend wasn’t a title he gave thoughtlessly, either...he’d never had a best friend before, but he was fairly certain Orpheus counted as one. He might overthink it later, but for now, he wasn’t thinking about it at all. He was relieved that Orpheus seemed to be okay with dropping the topic of arena rooms for now. He had promised to tell him about them later, and he intended to keep that promise, but preferably when they were alone, or at least not right next to Myrnin. L himself wasn’t sure whether that was for Myrnin’s sake or his own…it may have been only his 15th blink when it happened, but he didn’t seem to make it all okay. He wondered sometimes, whether Myrnin would make the same choices now that he had made then...he was drifting, he realized suddenly, and pushed himself back on course. “Together…?” He asked curiously, staring at Myrnin for a very, very long moment, before he understood what that meant. He tried to tilt his head and accidentally tilted his entire body to one side. He didn’t bother to right himself immediately, instead just continued to stare. “Oh, you mean romantically,” he said finally, suspicion evident in his tone. He glanced at Orpheus for a moment, then looked back at Myrnin. He seemed to be glitching a little at the comment. “We’re fish,” he added almost indignantly. “Everything we do could be considered fishy things. Please be more specific.” He looked at Nico, distracted. “Oh….good. Yes, you also sound familiar. I’m L,” he said, his tone shifting back to normal.

Orpheus frowned, looking slightly disappointed as Theta stated that they weren’t likely edible. They looked good. Well… they looked orange and weird, but that didn’t mean they also didn’t look good. And Theta kept eating them, despite the fact that they were apparently inedible. He didn’t have a lot of experience being tricked. He didn’t know what to look for, in spite of the fact that Mr. Hermes was quite literally the god of mischief. He wasn’t mischievous to Orpheus. Which was why Orpheus didn’t consider for even a second that Theta might not be telling the truth about whether the things were edible or not. “Maybe… I could try one anyway,” he said softly, moving towards the other packets on the walls. He didn’t want to get poisoned, but if Theta was going to… then at least they would do it together instead of one suffering alone. Alright… that was really, really poor logic, but Orpheus just really wanted to try the orange things. “I don’t think it would be too bad to become the spotted creature,” he added, giving a small smile. “He looks nice.” Tentatively, Orpheus picked up his own bag and popped it open. His didn’t go all over the floor, if only because he was prepared for the pop. He took one out and hesitantly raised it to his lips, eyes widening. “Inedible or not… it tastes pretty good. Weird, but… but good.”

Myrnoctopus | Fishy Room | strider Cloverleaf ®Hawkpath®Myrnin wasn't actually sure if these were 'better' circumstances. The House so rarely gave them respite for such things. Instead, this seemed more like a pause between disappointment. Wasn't that what this was? Disappointment? In Myrnin? He didn't let that thought stick around, he just waved around his various arms a bit more. He also didn't answer about 'fishy things.' He seemed distracted. "Yes! Myrnoctopus!" He did not flip over like L seemed to be doing a lot, but instead sort of turned around a couple times in hyper excitement. His spinning means he was looking at L a couple times, but this didn't seem to produce any attempt to explain what he'd meant. He'd been wrong. What better explanation was there? What more was there to say? "Should we help the scared eeeeeeeel?" he asked. Then turned to look at the FrenchFish. FrenchFishman? Whatever the nickname adapted to. More arm waving. Kid, in the mean time, was a lot lower than the others. He was half tempted to go hide behind the shark, but that would be going to try and get past the fish. The shark was fine. He could deal with the shark. It was the f-i-s-h.

"He's got blacked out eyes," Theta pointed out. He also didn't make any attempt to stop Orpheus from going to get another of the bags. He just watched the boy with some curiosity and kept picking up the thin orange things. They didn't taste that edible, but at this point he had reasoned they were. And Theta did like them. But he was going to let Orpheus discover this for himself. "But I would admit it would be interesting," he added, picking up the package again. He turned it over, looking at every inch of it. It made it look very interesting, that was what he knew. "It does taste weird," Theta agreed. "I am not sure how it tastes weird or what they have put into it to make it taste like this." He was looking at the Nutrient Facts, but it looked like complete nonsense to him.

“So?” Orpheus asked, frowning a little bit as he turned the bag to look at the weird creature. “Maybe it’s eyes are just like that and it would think you’re being mean by assuming they’re blacked out!” He was sure the creature could still see, or at least… that it had adjusted well enough to not being able to see that it was able to smile as wide as it was on the bag. It was… creepy, if Orpheus were honest with himself. But Theta had eaten several of the orange things and he hadn’t changed into anything, except… well, his fingertips were a little bit orange, but so were Orpheus’ just from picking it up. “What do you think they’re made out of?” he asked, tilting his head and coming close enough to Theta that he could read the nutrition facts on his bag. He hadn’t even thought to look and see if his own bag had the same strange writing on the back. “It looks like a bunch of words I can’t pronounce,” Orpheus admitted, scratching at the back of his neck. “They taste weird, but… it’s not a bad weird. I want to keep eating them, even if they are weird, and I usually don’t want to keep eating things I don’t like.”
