Nico followed, crossing his arms as they approached the captain’s quarters. Was stealing from pirates ethical? Did it matter? Were they even real pirates? Why did he care about ethics, he was on a gods damned pirate ship, he needn’t worry himself about ethics. “So,” he began, shifting on the belle of his feet as he waited for Hook to go in first, “you’re a pirate. Like… a real one.” It was only sort of a question, and he tried to keep the excitement out of his tone. He was failing badly at that. To think he had been blinking in for years with an honest to gods pirate! It was probably a good thing for Hook that he hadn’t found out when he was still little. Before he’d learned that bombarding someone with a million questions was… not the best way to go about things. Hopefully, Hook wouldn’t mind a couple hundred questions, because Nico wasn’t sure he’d be able to suppress the entire stream of questions already bubbling up in the back of his mind.

L had enough nightmares already. He had seen too much death, too much pain, too much violence. Enough for several lifetimes, in fact. Maybe that was why he didn’t dream about the snow the same way. Maybe his brain simply didn't consider that to be adequately traumatizing. He did dream about the house in general. And that room had slipped in. But what he dreamt about was the feeling of something wrapped around his feet, hindering his thoughts and warming him at the same time. The feeling of his hair being brushed back and played with, undoing the work the shirt had done and even increasing his cognitive abilities. Because as terrible as it had been to lay in the snow and feel himself start to go under completely, he hadn’t been alone. He had had some time to process the fact that Orpheus had risked his life to go back for him. And so that was what he dreamed about. Someone coming back for him. It was rare. It also made him feel warm, which was, as everyone knew, the best thing to be. “I see….” he said quietly, still watching Orpheus’ expression carefully. He was worried, and he wasn’t going to be dissuaded that easily, not when it was obvious it was a bigger deal than the other blinker was letting on. It was L’s job - his life, really - to tell when people were lying, and that included lying by silence. Still, he didn’t push it. Yet. Hopefully the cold would actually help. That’s why people invented ice packs after all, right? He licked his ice cream absentmindedly as he considered the situation, forgetting that this was likely to make him colder. He turned slightly, careful not to tug on the bandana as he did, to look behind him. There….a dark splotch in the distance. Was that something? He narrowed his eyes at it, trying to see, then licked his ice cream again. “The wind can’t be malicious.” He commented, only half paying attention. He nodded to the thing in the distance. “Do you see that? Maybe it’s….oh, I understand.” He did. And he was relieved. “Come with me. I know where we are.” And with that he began to walk, pulling Orpheus along behind him with the bandana.

Orpheus wasn’t used to danger, not the way Λ was used to it. The House had really been his first real taste of violence, though he was seeing it more and more the longer he spent on the Argo. This was not to be a mission without violence, and though Orpheus was beginning to understand that, he didn’t have to like it. He watched Λ’s expression, wondering briefly what he was thinking. People were usually somewhat easy to read. He may not always know what to say to them, but he could usually tell what they were feeling, when he really paid attention. Λ was different. Orpheus couldn’t manage to read Λ, but he found he wanted to. Perhaps that would come with time. Orpheus didn’t see the last room the same way. It hadn’t even been a question about whether or not to go back for Λ, before they’d even be friends. Orpheus had gone back because Λ had been kind and helpful and had treated Orpheus with patience. And even if he hadn’t, even if he’d been cruel, Orpheus would have gone back. He couldn’t let someone die if there was something he could do about it, and, as it turned out, there had been something he had been able to do about it. It wasn’t particularly extraordinary to him, but he didn’t know Λ’s world. He didn’t know that people’s perception of his friend would impact their willingness to help him, if he needed it. He tilted his head, making a mental note to ask about the ice cream later, when they weren’t at risk of freezing to death again. He didn’t know what it was, but it looked good. Honestly, he was intrigued by the food from Λ’s world. He had no idea the ice cream was cold, otherwise he may have warned Λ about eating it before they found somewhere warm. “I’m not sure Calais would be pleased to hear you say that,” he murmured with a soft smile. “He’s not malicious, but I doubt he would like the implication that he’d be incapable of it.” That was the side effect of traveling with the personification of natural elements. Even if Calais had no say on the winds in the House, Orpheus doubted he’d be able to feel wind again without thinking of the one almost-friend he’d managed to make among the crew. In spite of Orpheus’ inability to read Λ, the relief on his face was clear. It cut straight through Orpheus’ thoughts, sending the signal that it might be okay to relax. They were going somewhere his friend was familiar with, and given the way his voice sounded. Somewhere that was likely to be warm. Good. Orpheus was getting very sick of the cold. He followed behind, pace brisk as he focused both on Λ and their destination.

What would it be like to not have violence be a normal part of life? To not see it every single day? To not be more familiar with the worst of humanity than the best? L sometimes forgot that kind people existed. Outside of himself and Watari, he dealt with killers and authorities, and he’d discovered he disliked both of them almost equally, oftentimes. Looking at Orpheus, it was easy to wonder how he’d missed it, how he’d almost forgotten that kind, good people really were out there. That was why he didn’t stop trying, why he fought every day. For people like Orpheus. Being saved himself just...didn’t happen. People didn’t come back, not once they had what they needed for themselves, not once they didn’t need you anymore. He didn’t expect them to, he didn’t think about it, and if he hadn’t been half frozen in the last room, he would have been quite confident he was about to die, because Orpheus knew where the door was and no longer had any reason to help him, or even be nice to him. Especially when they’d met him and come to the conclusion that he was strange and cold and not nice at all, as they often did. He there was a reason being alone was easier, he knew, and a reason that that was what he was. Alone, aside from Watari, the one person in his world that he trusted. Did he trust Orpheus? No. Not yet. They hadn’t had as many blinks, they hadn’t really gotten to know each other all that well, and he could be friends with someone without completely trusting them. In fact, when he really thought about it, he was forced to conclude he didn’t really trust Myrnin, either. L paused, broken from his thoughts by the comment. He raised an eyebrow, considering for a moment before he gave a soft puzzled sound. “Ah.” He amended. “Well, the wind in my world has no pronouns and cannot be malicious. To the best of my knowledge, at any rate. Although, if our worlds really are the same, then perhaps I should rethink that a bit.” He continued walking, pleased that Orpheus seemed to understand. He was following, anyway. Good, the sooner they could get to the lodge, the sooner they’d be out of the cold, and the better they would both feel. Particularly Orpheus, who had no prior experience with snow and who was almost certainly not a fan. They were making quick progress, and L found he could make out the lodge now. It looked the same as last time, dark against the snow, smoke from the fireplace rising cheerfully to the sky. L glanced back, a tiny smile on his features. “This is called the lodge.” He explained. “It’s one of the few recurring rooms.”

~∂єѕтιиу ®Hawkpath® HᥲꙆƒꙆɩɠᖾt | Lodge | Myrnin "Don't tell me it's the lodge again," Myrnin muttered. He glanced around. No sign of it yet, but a timely blink of someone he vaguely recognized was in order. "Oh, hello!" he said to Sandalphon. Then he glanced at Rue. Then at Vincent. Well. Time to try and find wherever the building was, because there were limited warm-blooded creatures around to deal with slowly freezing vampires. And he really didn't want one of those people to be Vincent. So that meant slogging off into a random white-filled direction, where the only definable location were snow covered trees. Ugh. "I'm heading this way," he said, chipper, but not really meaning it.

Hange | Museum room | ®Hawkpath® strider |"Raising the dead???" said Hange incredulously, raising the scepter high in the air for a better look. Nico's prediction that the scepter would keep them busy was correct - they spent the next several minutes swinging it in the air and examining the crystal on top - hmmmm, they could break off a piece, if it wasn't so hard....what was it made of, anyway? It looked remarkably similar to the crystalizing they'd observed occasionally with certain titans, but they'd never been able to replicate it in the field. Was it natural? Or could the boy create it somehow? They'd have to ask... "Huh? There's someone here," they said suddenly, straightening up and holding the scepter loosely at their side as they noticed a person approaching, a wide smile on their soft face and one hand brushing back soft curls. "Hello! My name is Quincy!" they said, indicating a small name badge on their tweed sweater. "Welcome to the Museum of Arts and History!"

Hook veered off to the side of the door as they approached, too uncomfortable with the midday silence to truly put faith in the idea that the room would be empty. Entering an area where any man would hide his most valuable possessions while it was unguarded felt risky, and he was certain that if anything were to trigger an ambush, it would be this. He gave Nico a warning glance for the teen to ready himself, pulling open the door slowly and glancing around the interior. It was dimly lit inside, with unlit candles sitting on either side of the door and throughout the room, only the sunlight from the back window casting over the messy quarters. The room was strange and yet equally familiar to the captain, and he stepped in cautiously before taking a breath of stale air. Dust fluttered around the room, glistening peacefully in the light of the window and falling across the unkempt paper work and foreign wealth. “As real as my name is infamous,” he grinned back in response to the lad’s query, speaking both of his realm and of his reputation in the house. He’d already made his way to the desk, running his hand over the exposed table; it’s contents as recently moved as his own, like the other captain could’ve been here just days ago. “Careful with your hands, some cargo may bear incantations.” He glanced down, frowning to see that most of the books and writings seemed waterlogged, the ink smeared and missing, or otherwise illegible.

Kelsier was keeping an eye on Hange, but he didn’t say anything. It was Nico’s, after all, and if Nico thought it was okay for the stranger to use it, who was he to say otherwise? A faint smile rested on his features as he watched the other blinker’s chaotic excitement. He was quiet for once, not sure whether Nico actually knew the person or not, and instead he looked at some of the items, trying to make out what they were. He looked up as someone spoke and he looked them over quickly then smiled. Another blinker? Or...nope, House person. “Hi.” He said, waving at them, the friendly smile still in place. “Thank you very much. I’m Kelsier.”

Rue turned, standing on her toes to see just a little bit further. It was so weird, being in the cold and not feeling...well, cold. She wasn’t complaining. She’d had more than enough of being cold in her short life. She glanced at the other two, head tilted at Vincent first. He was human, so he would probably be feeling the cold more than they would. She didn’t trust him by instinct, but she was at least relieved to know that they would be able to help if he needed it. Wait. Was it just her, or did Myrnin look just a little bit worried? She frowned, shifting her weight. She knew pretty much nothing about vampires. Did the cold affect them somehow? She didn’t speak, just nodded and started after him with another quick glance at Vincent. Then, very softly as she caught up with him, “everything okay?”

Journey to the Lodge | @/mintedstarfur @/des @/hawkpath Picking up the sound of voices nearby, a glance to the side revealed that three others had just arrived in the room close by. Sandalphon didn't recognize either the girl, nor the more reserved looking of the two men. The more cheerful seeming one though, caught his eye, and a slightly disturbed expression alongside. What in the sky was this mortal wearing? He'd seen some... colorful, outfits worn by others in the crew, but this? This was another world of strange. Wait, Had he seen this man's face before? Err, 'interesting' taste in clothing aside, there was definitely something familiar about him. Working to place Myrnin in his memory, the Primarch gave the group in general a nod of greeting in response to the one he'd just received. The next thing that caught his attention, was how he noticed all of them were woefully ill prepared for the setting they were in. "Hmm. We're not in a particularly cozy environment this time, are we?" He mused aloud, following up his words with a short sigh and shake of his head. While not immune to the cold himself, he wouldn't require any extra warmth at the moment, due to both the fact he wasn't human, and was actually dressed suitably for the weather. As for the others though, unaware that two of them weren't quite mortal as well, he assumed they wouldn't be fairing quite the same. "I'll do what I can. Fire isn't my Concept, but I should be able to use the power I have to at least manage us some warmth." Removing the hand pressed to his wound, Sandalphon held his arm forward, palm outstretched. A small plume of flame flared to life on it's surface, offering some heat to a small radius around it. Shooting a quick look at the quiet man, he began to follow after their strangely dressed fellow and the girl, who was already trailing after the colorful blinker.

@/mint @/hawk @/echo Vincent allowed himself to move to the back of the group, focused on his grip around himself as the bitterly cold air blew into his face. He glanced towards Myrnin as the vampire took the initiative to move in a random direction, making note of his somewhat grim expression. Even with that observation, he couldn’t help but roll his eyes after noticing the lack of breath rising from either of his companions when they spoke. He raised his eyebrow as a stranger staggered out from the snowy room, standing tensely as he greeted himself. It wasn’t until a flame curled off his palm that the blond perked with interest, his pale gaze lingering on the man once he joined their ranks. From what he could tell, he had it the worst of any of his company...so he’d need to cozy up with the man who could conjure flame as quickly as he could. He lowered his gaze, keeping an ear on Myrnin and Rue’s conversation as they went.

®Hawkpath® ~∂єѕтιиу HᥲꙆƒꙆɩɠᖾt | Lotsa snow | Myrnin Myrnin frowned when Sandalphon. "Are you bleeding? Or rather, are you hurt and should I be worried?" He looked at the fire and edged away. Better to be frozen in place than burned to ashes. He'd sooner flop over Vincent's shoulder. Maybe he'd do that after more cold had decided to retain in his body. See how he liked having a snow-man as a new scarf. "Thiiiiiis way. Over the river and through the woods, to Grandmother's house we go ..." He paused. "Does anyone know the rest of the song?" He proceeded to start singing it out of tune regardless, but it was the thought that counts. He did very obviously brake off mid-sentence to mutter to Rue, "Oh we can just freeze," before picking up with, "The horse knows the way, to carry the sleigh, through the ..." and so forth.

Rue looked up as someone else joined them, her eyes widening . She didn’t say anything, but her forehead creased slightly with worry as she noticed he was hurt. Then she noticed the fire and brightened up, immediately coming a bit closer, since she was still having a hard time accepting that she wasn’t cold the way she was supposed to be. Fire was good. Fire meant warmth and hot food and light to see by and... And she no longer needed any of those things. She stopped. Then glanced at Myrnin. He was the only one with answers, after all, but she wasn’t going to ask him just yet. As soon as they had a minute? The older vampire was going to have a lot of questions to work with. She moved to follow without speaking, but she couldn’t quite stifle her smile as he began to sing. The music, out of tune though it was, warmed her better than the fire had any hope of doing. Then she stopped. “We can freeze?” she repeated, staring at him. She did keep her voice down, and after a moment she caught up to him again and continued in a conversational sort of voice. “Right. Okay. Will that kill us?” “

Journey to the Lodge | @/mintedstarfur @/des @/hawkpath "Hah?" Sandalphon tilted his head to the side, uncertain of what Fashion Disaster was referring to for a second. Too busy focusing on current matters, the fact he'd even been hurt in the first place had already escaped his mind. Shaking his head again, he tried to dissuade any concerns. "Ah, right. No. It's nothing you need worry yourself with. It will take care of itself." Which it was. Only a few minutes had passed, but the cut had already mostly healed. Speaking of uncertainty, instead of drawing nearer to the warmth, both blinkers before him kept their distance, their behavior earning a lifted brow from the Primarch. Strange as it was, he figured they must have had their reasons, and wasn't going pry. He slowed his pace, gaze lingering on the two, or more namely on Fashion Disaster, as they went ahead. Judging from the pair's interactions, they were already acquainted. Why did it feel like this mortal was so familiar? Someone like that would certainly stick out in one's memory if they had indeed met before. Having allowed his attention to wonder off while searching through his mind, he was suddenly torn from his thoughts when the familiar one started... wailing something about Grandmothers and Sleighs? Wait, on a closer listen... W-was that noise supposed to be singing? Missing them mention anything about freezing, Sandalphon let out a mildly amused snort and uttered a quiet, "Huh. At least someone seems to be having fun." He peered back towards the reticent man tailing behind the group. This member had yet to say anything at all, looking like he wasn't particularly interested in holding a conversation. "Not going to join in?" The Primarch questioned, tone letting on he was asking in jest. "I'm sure they would enjoy another addition to their merry band of carolers."

Nico nearly jumped at the sound of a voice behind him. He hadn’t felt the other person blink in, but whether that was because he was too absorbed in the masks to notice, or because they hadn’t actually blinked in was anyone’s guess. He had a feeling it was the latter, based on the way the person introduced themself. “Hey,” he replied, edging back towards Kelsier, the Venetian masks forgotten. He didn’t trust House generated people any more than he trusted other blinkers. In fact, he probably trusted House generated people a good deal less. Normal blinkers at least had motivations that could be analyzed. House people… didn’t. Still… the idea of a museum was exciting, and so far Quincy didn’t seen antagonistic. That didn’t, however, mean Nico was going to volunteer his name as quickly as Kelsier had. “History of where?” he asked after a moment, curious if this House generated person was even familiar with the idea of the House.

Vincent eyed the two vampires at the front as Myrnin started singing, raising an unimpressed eyebrow. The man stayed silent as Myrnin interrupted himself with an off handed response to whatever Rue had muttered to him, though he cast Myrnin a mildly surprised glance. He wasn’t sure he completely understood, but it sounded like their situation just got a bit more interesting. He turned as Sandalphon fell to his pace, chuckling at his suggestion. “Don’t be hesitant to join in without me, if you feel inclined,” he answered with a smirk. He glanced towards Myrnin briefly, curious if he’d have anything to comment before moving on. His hand pried away from the hold he had around himself, offering a somewhat lackluster handshake with his arms still close to his chest. “Vincent,” he greeted.

Orpheus was more than happy to follow Λ, grateful for the knowledge that they were headed somewhere that was hopefully warm, and hopefully safe. If it was a recurring room, and Λ didn’t sound frightened of it, then Orpheus was willing to trust it. Perhaps he gave his trust too easily. To a man he hadn’t known for longer than a few weeks in his world, to a room in a place that seemed more than eager to kill him and the people he cared about. Perhaps he needed to rethink how and when he gave his trust. Still… he found it easier to trust people rather than doubt them. It would take a lot to change his mind about that, even if the people around him didn’t trust as easily. “I forget, sometimes, that your world doesn’t have gods,” he replied softly, shaking his head. If they were from the same world… well, the presence or absence of gods didn’t mean anything. Orpheus had a feeling that Λ’s world was a lot larger than his, and Orpheus was only as familiar with the gods as he was because of how he’d grown up and who he’d spent the most time around. It was possible he wouldn’t believe in the gods if he hadn’t been raised by them. He cast a suspicious glance at the sky, trying to hurry up so they wouldn’t be caught in the middle of a white out for a second time. He liked the ability to see his hand in front of his face, and he liked feeling warm. Already, he could feel the cold start to settle into his bones. “I hope the lodge is warm,” he added after a moment, briefly glancing behind him. It didn’t appear that their footsteps were being covered, so at least if something happened and they got separated, he could retrace his steps. He was expecting the worst from the House. After the last time, how could he not? He wanted to believe that everybody – even the House – was capable of good, was capable of kindness, and deserved a second chance. That didn’t mean he was going to forget what the House had done to him and Λ only a brief time before. At least the smoke, which he could now make out against the sky, was a good indication. It had been too long since he’d sat beside a warm fire. It would be a welcome respite from the snow, which he was rapidly beginning to dislike.

“I’m not surprised that’s something you choose to brag about,” Nico replied, rolling his eyes a little bit. The comment lacked any of the barbs that may have been expected from him. He watched Hook, his hand carefully on the hilt of his wicked black sword. If anyone attacked – and it seemed like Hook was expecting an attack – Nico would be ready. He was quite good at fighting, and it seemed unlikely that any great numbers could be hiding in the comparatively small captain’s quarters. Still, it was good to be prepared for the worst, especially in the House. Anything at all could happen here. “Incantations?” he inquired, moving forward and looking around the quarters. The truth was, he didn’t know what they were looking for. There seemed to be books and maps and records, but nothing he could read. Even if it weren’t smeared from water damage, the legible parts were written in a handwriting so scrawled and loose that Nico wasn’t able to make out even a letter. It was also possible it had been written in a different language. “Do you just… keep incantations lying around?” he asked, brows furrowing. “Because that seems like a recipe for disaster.” He looked around, mindful of the distance between himself and Hook. “Anywhere else on this ship someone might have kept something interesting or valuable?” Were they supposed to steal from a pirate ship? It was… oddly tempting.

Hook moved behind the desk, nudging back the chair with his heel. “A man works hard for his reputation,” he pointed out airily, glancing at Nico with a grin before seemingly remembering who he was talking to and looking back to his work. He pulled open the two drawers of the desk one at a time, revealing more stacks of ruined paperwork along with some loose coin. The second draw opened with a loud clatter as a small spyglass rolled to the back. Without any hesitation the pirate lifted up on the bottom of drawer and heaved it out of its place, dropping it on the table loudly. He passed the spyglass to the other blinker without saying anything, focused on his efforts to do the same to the other drawer. “We ain’t looking for anything just lying’ around,” he corrected the teen as he dropped the second drawer, quickly crouching down to look into the empty compartments he’d created. He felt around for a moment before sighing deeply, sitting upright and tossing a small coin pouch on the desk. He wasn't sure what he was expecting, but he’d been hoping for a bit more than tucked away coin. He was about to continue his search when Nico’s words caused him to pause. “We can look around, but,” he trailed off with a huff, looking around the rest of the room. He was tempted to turn over the whole place for every bit of stashed away wealth he could find...though he had to remind himself that what he would usually look for in a situation like this would be worthless here. “I don’t know what we’re meant to find,” he muttered to himself. Reluctant to leave the room so undisturbed, the pirate promised himself that he’d return quickly; “We’ll look around first,”

L couldn’t be completely sure they were safe, of course. This was the House, and the lodge hadn’t exactly always been the safest place there was. Still, when he’d been here before, it had been nice enough. And it had to be better than their last room, right? At least, he didn’t expect to nearly freeze to death again. He hoped he was right. Trust did not come easily to him. There was one person he trusted completely, and that was it. He never expected to trust anyone else, and he certainly didn’t plan to. The way he lived was dangerous, the people he knew were even more so, and were he to trust someone, he would almost certainly be killed for it. “Yes, that is a large difference.” He agreed, considering the idea of gods. “That isn’t to say there aren’t myths, of course, but they seem to speak of monsters. At least, as far as I can tell, there is little difference between gods and monsters. But then, I’m not in your world, or at least not your time and version of it, so perhaps your gods are different.” He didn’t seem to realize this could be a bad thing to say. He was mostly just thinking out loud. He noticed Orpheus hurrying, and he did the same, quickening his pace as the lodge came into focus. “It has been when I was here before.” He assured Orpheus brightly. He sounded just a little bit excited at the prospect. “Do you have hot chocolate and cookies in your version of the world? You need to try them, they’re very good. Oh, there might be doughnuts too. You wanted to try those, yes? I wonder whether there’s any cake…” he was rambling. Whether that was because he was trying to pretend his feet didn’t hurt or because he was genuinely excited about the prospect of trying the House’s food was hard to tell. He paused, then continued in a slightly different voice. “There is of course the possibility that the food is dangerous or will in some way affect you.” He said seriously. “That’s why I’m not going to eat it. But if you feel that it’s worth the risk, then by all means do try it.” They were close enough to see the lodge clearly now, and L paused, glancing at Orpheus, his dark eyes curious. He knew the other man wanted to make it even, somehow. He still wanted to learn to sing. He still wanted to help. At the same time, he had been through things since they’re first conversation. He had been killed. He had been forced to watch his friend go through something terrible. And music hadn’t been enough to fix it. He hesitated for a long moment. Then he spoke in a very quiet, very careful voice. “Do you still believe you can make it even?” He asked, because he had to. Before they went inside together, he wanted to know whether everything Orpheus had seen was enough to teach him that it was pointless.

Hook blinked in mid conversation, talking loudly and harshly before trailing off in response to the empty space in front of him. Hook glanced to the side as someone else blinked in, raising his eyebrows at the familiar figure. He muttered a silent complaint under his breath, looking immediately towards the hallway before Kelsier spoke out in greeting. He looked back, brow drawn together as he considered the man. They’d never spoken before, but he was well aware that they weren’t on good terms - so his casual tone caused him immediate discomfort. “You’re not,” he responded tensely, cocking his brow at the name. He didn’t say anything else, just staring coldly and expectantly.

Kelsier | Living Room | ~∂єѕтιиуKelsier eyed the pirate, his expression dark and giving nothing away. He considered reaching for his dagger, but he didn’t. His body was tense, but steady. Practiced. “You have no idea who I am, do you?” He asked finally. This wasn’t his world. His titles meant nothing here, he knew that. But that wasn’t what he meant. “Creative name.” He added, gesturing to the hook. He smiled. “I think we need to talk.”

Hook - @/hawk
Hook watched the man carefully, a distrusting smirk lingering on his face. “Cant say I do, mate,” he replied wryly, looking him up and down. He glanced towards his left arm as Kelsier gestured to it, not saying anything before the blond continued. “Talk then,” he said impatiently, his hand taking ahold of the hilt of his sword as he planted his feet, giving the other blinker cold look. “You’ve been itchin’ for the chance,” he pointed out with raised eyebrows, referencing the cold states he’d gotten from the man that last few blinks.

Kelsier dipped his head in a bow that could have possibly been seen as sarcastic. Possibly. “My name is Kelsier, Survivor of Hathsin.” He said, still smiling. It clashed with the dark look in his eyes, somehow. “You’re right.” He continued, and took a step towards Hook, his eyes never leaving the pirate. “I have. You may not know me, but we have a mutual friend. And I would like to issue you a warning. Stay far away from Nico di Angelo. Don’t even think about coming after him again. Because if I find out you hurt him...” the Mistborn’s smile slid into something darker. “You’ll regret it.”

~∂єѕтιиу ®Hawkpath® HᥲꙆƒꙆɩɠᖾt / Lodge / Myrnin"Well ... no. No it wont," Myrnin said, stopping mid-song (or rather third rotation through the song) to answer. He rubbed at his chin. "It's just really annoying. Don't get stuck without something warm when it's, say, perpetually winter like it seems to be at the lodge. You'll freeze. It can be boring." He sounded not that concerned, other than dully thinking about the mind-numbing insanity it might bring. He tried not to be too loud. He personally didn't mind giving power to Vince for him, but not for Rue. That felt cruel. With that in mind, he did hear what Sandalphon said and proceed to turn around. Yep. His fingers were definitely getting stiff now! "Want to join in?" he asked, gesturing about. It might have just been the limited lighting thanks to the snowy clouds, but he looked a bit paler. In fact ... "MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE. Come siiiiiiiiiiing with me." He pouted just a bit. Vincent wasn't being very fun. He should sing. "Bet it would be fuuuuuuuuuun?" And would distract from freezing.

Nico took the spyglass, tilting his head as he held it up to his eye. It didn’t do much in such a small room, but he had a feeling it might be more useful outside. As if the House would actually give them anything to see, though. He sighed softly, pocketing it as he watched Hook sift through the rest of what the captain’s quarters had to offer. He watched Hook carefully, slightly on edge from the haphazard way he seemed to be dropping the drawers on the table. It was just a loud noise though, and there didn’t seem to be anything aggressive in Hook’s demeanor. He didn’t know if he expected there to be, but he couldn’t but remember the feel of cold metal against his throat, Hook’s hand grabbing him in a way that made him tense with even just the memory. He searched Hook’s gaze, wondering exactly what Hook thought they were looking for. If it wasn’t the change – the chances of that blinking out with them or being worth anything were miniscule – then what else could there be? “So,” he managed, rocking on his heels as he followed Hook out of the captain’s quarters, “How long have you been a pirate?” He had a lot of questions, but he figured starting with one that couldn’t be seen as offensive was probably his best bet. He probably should have known that Hook was a pirate, but he just… hadn’t, before now And he had a lot of questions that he wanted answered, so long as Hook was willing to answer them. He glanced around, trying to make himself useful while asking.

“I suppose,” Orpheus mused, “that the main difference between gods and monsters is who lives to tell their stories.” He shrugged, looking over at Λ. “I’m sure a lot of the creatures that I see as monsters would view themselves as gods. They’re powerful enough to be them. But the gods don’t like them, or have quarrels with them, and thus they don’t count as gods. The difference is not… as distinct as many would have you believe, I think.” He gave a small smile, grateful for the distraction from the icy chill of the wind and the snow. It was easier to talk about his world and the structures he believed in than it was to think about the possibility of freezing to death. He didn’t think that it was nearly as possible here as it had been in the last room, but it still seemed like a possibility. He watched his friend for a few minutes, unsure what else to say. If their worlds were the same, were his gods seen as monsters in Λ’s time? It seemed like a possibility, though one that made him distinctly uneasy. He didn’t notice that Λ’s comment could be seen as inflammatory, or disrespectful. It was just how he saw the world. There was nothing wrong with that. “I’ve never tried any of that,” he replied softly, looking up at the Lodge. If it offered anything as nice as what Λ was describing, then it couldn’t be that bad. He was looking forward to it, if it offered the chance to try some of the treats Λ had described from his own world. His expression shifted slightly as he heard the change in his friend’s voice, and his glance towards the Lodge suddenly contained a little bit of apprehension. “How serious of a risk do you believe they pose?” He asked softly, unsure now if he wanted to try the treats the House offered. “I don’t want to take a risk that you think is unsafe, especially if there might be safer ways to try things if I’m just a little bit patient.” He frowned a little bit, wondering if it would be too rude to ask if Λ would be willing to try to bring some sweets to the House for Orpheus to try. He didn’t want to make his friend share if he didn’t want to. Orpheus cast his gaze towards the Lodge, the food forgotten for a long moment as he focused his attention on Λ’s question. He had promised to make it even. He didn’t want to break that promise, but did he really believe he could do it, even now? Even after everything he had seen? There had been a lot… more than he had expected, but not more than what Λ himself had warned Orpheus of that very first blink. Orpheus himself had never died, but he’d now seen plenty of death. He saw just how unfair the House could be, and the music he had produced had done nothing. “I don’t know,” he admitted after a long moment, staring at the Lodge. It was so close now. “But I think I have to keep trying, because if I don’t, then it’s won. And there’s always a chance to make a difference.” He glanced at Λ, the ghost of a smile touching his lips. “I won’t stop trying to make it even if that’s what you’re asking. And I think… if I keep trying, and others try with me… there’s the slightest chance we may make it even slightly more even, and isn’t that worth it?” It was a genuine question. He wanted to know Λ’s answer.

Orpheus made a good, if unexpected, point. The difference between a hero and a traitor was often a matter of who wrote the book, after all. It was just unexpected because L had expected Orpheus to defend the gods in his world. Or at least not agree with the idea that they were really just monsters. “I think you’re right.” He said, nodding. “Much like history, people tend to paint themselves in the best light possible, and I suppose it makes sense that the same principle applies to the gods.” He paused. His gaze was steady on Orpheus’ as he considered his next words. “I believed it was almost impossible that gods or monsters existed.” He told his friend softly. “Once. Before the House. Once I started blinking in, things changed. I became aware of the fact that I know very little, and if made me wonder...how can I say that there are not gods and monsters in my own world? Our worlds may well be the same, and if that’s the case…” He paused. “Well. If that’s the case, then there were gods and monsters once, if not now. You’ve given me a lot to think about.” He shifted topics, deciding to focus instead on the prospect of food. “I thought you probably hadn’t.” He said, nodding as Orpheus confirmed as much. “You would like them, I think. Do you have any chocolate at all? Chocolate isn’t my favorite by itself, but it’s okay. I prefer cake.” He could probably talk about this for a long time. He didn’t really get to, very often, since it wasn’t exactly relevant to the case. The detective considered the question carefully. “Well…” he mused out loud, tapping his lips absentmindedly as he thought about it. “There’s the fact that the House can influence us without needing to trick us with food, which means that it’s unlikely if everyone refused to eat the food, everyone would be safe. The House would simply get bored and injure or affect us in another way, such as through the air, or simply messing with our heads directly. But, that’s not the only thing. The way the House thinks is this: ‘I want to push you, play with you, see how far you can go until you break, then pull you back again’. Whether it cares or not about us is irrelevant to the fact that we’re entertaining to it, that what we go through here, it considers fun. Considering that, it’s possible that the House would be amused by watching us get ourselves into a situation that would have been entirely avoidable, not to mention the fun of watching some people be affected or harmed and the rest having to deal with the situation. Yes...that sounds exactly like something the House would do.” He tilted his head, watching Orpheus thoughtfully, still tapping his lips as he spoke. “But this is the Lodge. A recurring room, and the people who have eaten the food here have never been affected to my knowledge. Is that a reason to trust it, or to believe the House is likely to do something different this time around? The House enjoys hurting us, yes, but it seems to have unspoken rules as well, and oftentimes a room such as this is a break. That isn’t to say it doesn’t often give a kind room and then take it away, but…” He frowned slightly and stopped tapping. “My conclusion is that the chances of the food being dangerous in this case is lower than in other rooms, because of the fact that this room is the only other recurring room, the living room is always safe, and the House doesn’t tend to break its own rules. I would say there’s a 27% chance that this food is dangerous or will affect you, and a 50% chance in every other room.” He stopped for breath, forgetting that he had even asked another question. Then he remembered, and that seemed far more important than the food. He watched Orpheus quietly, waiting for his answer. He had no idea what it was going to be. They were almost at the Lodge. L’s feet hurt. He was cold. But more than that, he was watching Orpheus, wondering whether he was likely to lie about this. His instincts, surprisingly enough, said he wasn’t. That didn’t mean L trusted him, of course, but it did mean that he was willing to take what he said and consider it likely to be true. He met Orpheus’ eyes. He didn’t often smile, but a tiny one rested on his face now, softening his features into something gentler. “I should hope it is.” He said softly. “Or else my life has no purpose. Since that’s my goal in my world, as well. The thought of trying to make the House even a small bit more fair...I don’t know whether I can believe it possibly, but...I want to. I want to believe you.” He glanced at the Lodge. “And,” he added, “if it is possible, if you do it, then yes. It’s worth it.” He breathed out, watching his warm breath turn to a cloud. “I hate frostbite.” He announced. “Let’s go inside before we get it again, yes?”
