Rye: A rather common cat, cladded with a brown tabby coat and his kin's earthy brown eyes. He is nothing too different from the rest. He's not adventurous, but when confronted with danger or a vicious brute of some sort, he can find his way out, and isn't afraid to stick up for himself. He isn't fierce or unkind, but he isn't a push over either. When it comes to any emotions, he is oblivious. He couldn't tell you what he's feeling, only that he is angry, happy, or sad. The basics. That's as far as his knowledge of emotions go. He can't read others either, though if he couldn't read her own how could he possibly read others. A short range of emotions, for him, means less to worry about. He never worries about finding a mate or grieving losses, and if he doesn't care about anything, he'll never have to experience them. For now that is. [kittypet]
Heatherstep: Golden brown fur coats her slender frame. She has large ears and almond-shaped brown eyes. Heatherstep's feathery tail is longer than most cats', broad at the base and slimming down to the tip. With a long streaming tail comes balance, giving her the capability of climbing great heights. She's a little rough around the edges and has been described by others as secretive, bold, and sharp. However, beneath the rough exterior is a rather sweet, gentle cat. Though that's if you get to know her, to others she is just as bitter as she is stubborn. Bisexual. [protector]
Brackentail: His broad, muscular shoulders are the source of his strength and agility; reward for his vigorous training as an apprentice. He has a long, thick coat, his underbelly a lighter shade than the rest of his grey frame. Darker tabby stripes dripple onto his back and flow down his frame, his fur growing lighter and lighter. He has alluring green eyes and is noticing that his sight is beginning to falter. He does not believe in wasting time or putting things off. He's no genius but he is rather clever and can easily squeeze out of difficult situations, not that he ever really has to. Brackentail is as loyal as they get. Tried and true. Cats depending on him is not an unfamiliar pressure, several felines had put their trust and faith in him long before he happened to stumble across the clan he now resides in. [protector]
Falloweyes: A small she, her legs are slightly too short and connect stubbornly to her paws. She sports a ginger tabby coat with white paws and underbelly. She has golden eyes and long whiskers. Her curiosity is never sedated, and is constantly poking about. She may be older now, but she will always be a child at heart. Her ways may be wily and ridiculous at first if you cannot tolerate it, because she does come from a different land. She is, after all, a new member of the clan. Homosexual. [protector]

As she walked alongside Cherrystorm, Mothlight's mind wandered too to the similarities of the two. She had never known Cherrystorm all that well, and it was to no fault of their own, they had just never been close friends. Their paths never crossed much, either. With such a compact area and the togetherness a clan had, it would seem that each cat would know each other personally, but that generally wasn't the case. Mothlight wasn't sure if that was so bad, though. She generally was in contact with cats with negative reasons given her status in the clan, so it was almost a good day when she didn't have another encounter with a cat, at least from a political point of view.
Mothlight nodded when Cherrystorm said he was doing decent. "That's better than bad..." She told herself, but agreed with his comments about the foxes. "Oh.." She messed, flicking her ears in thought. "I have been bust, which is a good and bad thing." Her tone was lighthearted before she took on a more serious one. "I just hate that when they are it's generally because of injuries or sickness.."

Ravenpaw merely shook his head. "I would like to see you try, Sagepaw." With that, he offered a smirk, stepping away from the she-cat. Darkpaw glanced behind her, watching as Ospreypaw quickly padded over. She stepped aside, allowing him to pass, before she followed after him. She listened silently to Ssgepw and Ospreypaw's conversation, before deciding to pipe in. "Of course we need two omen-tellers! A good clan needs two omen-tellers that are close to one another. Especially if the clan will be as big as we hope it will." She hesitated, offering a mischevious grin in Ravenpaw's direction. "It may take some time though, but once we're old enough, Sageteller and Raventail will have kits. And during that time, an extra omen-teller comes in handy." She glanced in Ospreyaw's direction before she slipped past the three others. "Well, to the 'peaks', of course! The highest tip of the mountain!" With one last glance towards the camp entrance, she quickly started to trot away. "We must be quick. It will only be minutes before all four of us will be missed by the clan." She hesitated, glancing up towards the sky. "Maybe going in the stream will help wash away our scents." She turned towards the others, waiting for their input.

Some seasons ago Cherrystorm would have really known most of the healers when Hollyheart was still alive and he would visit the healers’ den. Now he had no reason to visit the den unless he himself was injured, or if something happened to Sagepaw. It was hard for him to go into the den now. It brought back too many memories. Good ones, bad ones… Cherrystorm huffed. He needed to get his head out of the clouds and think about his present, his future. Staying in the past was bad, but he just couldn’t help it, couldn’t control it. At least not yet. Luckily he had Mothlight to talk with. She helped his mind from straying too far right now. Amber eyes turned to look at the slender female. ”I understand. It’s a shame that all these foxes are around. Something needs to be done.” He lashed his tail at the thought of running into yet another fox. Hopefully the two would be lucky and have a clean trip. ”Hopefully Honeyteller will do something about them soon. The foxes are getting out of paw.” A low growl formed at the end of his words as he thought about those wily creatures. If nothing was done then what would happen to GroundClan? They would slowly be taken out by foxes, one by one, two by two, until, finally, none of them were left. Hopefully that would never happen.
- - -
A growl came from the she-cat. Her fur was spiked up, bristling in hostility. ”Just watch me,” she hissed venomously. How dare he think she wasn’t serious. I’ll show you. She watched through narrowed eyes as the dark-furred tom stepped away. Ugh, why was he so infuriating? Sagepaw just wanted to claw his fur off sometimes. Sagepaw was stuck in her boiling rage until a very particular statement was made by Darkpaw. The tabby jumped, tail lashing in embarrassed frustration. ”Kits with Raventail? As if! I’d much rather be eaten by a fox, or, or…” She paused, looking in her mind for something else to say. She then turned to look at Ospreypaw. ”No offense, but I’d rather have kits with Ospreypaw. At least we get along.” The she-cat knew that there would never be anything romantic between her and Ospreypaw; he was like a brother to her, the littermate she had never had. Having kits with the brown tomcat would be like having kits with her brother. Disgusting. Stuck on the disgusting topic of ever being mates with Ravenpaw and having kits with him, Sagepaw blocked out anything else that was said as she began to pad off, tail lashing and ears flattened in annoyance. Sometimes Darkpaw’s little jibes were fun, but her suggestion of Ravenpaw fathering any kits Sagepaw would have just got under the tenderpaw’s skin for some reason. ”Yeah, the stream,” murmured Sagepaw, barely catching on to what Darkpaw had said. Turning slightly to the left, Sagepaw headed for the stream as she finally began her grand escape.

ᴊᴀʏғʀᴏsᴛ Falconmist gave a hesitant nod to Mapleflight. The she-cat seemed concerned, but why wasn't she going after her brother if she was? But then again, Falconmist had been the only kit in her litter and didn't know much about the relationship between siblings. Falconmist flicked her ear back at Mapleflight's next comment. "I don't see why he does." She mewed. "Sagepaw is a tenderpaw now. He needn't be so protective over her. She has to grow up somehow." Falconmist obviously wasn't one for parenting since she had no kits of her own, but how was a cat supposed to grow up and learn how to live with their paint hovering over them all the time? "That's exactly what I've been trying to tell him," Mapleflight mewed, clearly frustrated. Realizing how angry she sounded, she blinked and took in a deep breath in an attempt to cool down. "I mean, the whole situation's pretty ridiculous if you ask me." Her ears twitched as she spotted him entering the healer's den, probably to check on Sagepaw. Here we go again.
--
Slightly taken aback by Honeyteller's sudden string of questions, Nightstorm's gaze quickly returned to the concerned omen-teller. "The injury looks serious," he reassured her. He was never a fan of coating his words with sugar- what was the point? The truth is the truth. "I believe Mothlight and Breezepaw have attended to her. Perhaps you should pay a visit and see for yourself."
Dipping his head as Honeyteller thanked him, the dark tom turned back and entered the camp.

Darkpaw laughed at her den-mate, quickening her pace so she could catch up with the other she-cat. "Well, someone has to have kits with somebody. And it will not be me." She confirmed, tilting her head to glance back at the two tom cats. With a soft shake of her head, she turned back to Sagepaw. "Nah, if we need more members, we can just accept others into the clan." She paused, hesitating at the sound of Ravepaw slowly trailing behind them. "I'm sure some of the other tenderpaws would like to join once the clan gets established." With that final comment, she grew silent, focusing on the trek ahead.
Once they reached the stream, Darkpaw was the first to enter it. With a massive leap, she dove into the water. Laughing, she turned to the others. "This is fun, come on!"
Darkpaw observed his litter-mate warily, watching as she entered the water. Tentatively, he crept closer, dipping the tip of his paw into the water. He immediately withdrew, and scowled. Glancing at Ospreypaw, and then Sagepaw, he growled under his breath. "I cannot believe I am doing this." Even though this idea was incredibly stupid to him, he couldn't let his clan-mates leave without them. In all honestly, two female protector tenderpaws and a healer tenderpaw would not be able to survive even a night alone. Especially with foxes. But with him tagging along, of course, then they all had a chance of surviving. Three protector tenderpaws, and a healer tenderpaw could possibly have a chance of surviving. With one last fierce scowl, he tentatively crept into the water, his fur bristling along his spine. "This is the most mouse-brained idea I have ever heard of. You two are absolutely ridiculous!" He nearly shouted, casting a spiteful glare in Sgaepaw and Darkpaw's direction. "True protectors wouldn't just gallivant off to prove something to inflate their ego! Not with foxes around and when our true clan needs protecting." He swatted water in Sagepaw's direction, before he quickened his pace so he was in the lead. With a last sigh, he resigned himself to silence, stewing in anger.

Feathertalon ;; Mothlight nodded. "I agree." She mewed, flicking her ears at the thought of foxes. They were such beautiful creatures, it was a shame they were so deadly. "I'm just not sure what could be done about it." She said with a sigh, looking at the tom. "I mean, do you really think something like a battle could work? They aren't cats, after all." As much as she hated to question doing something about the foxes, Mothlight knew someone had to do it. She knew that something needed to be done about the red-furred creatures, she just wasn't sure what could be effective.
Before long, the she-cat caught sight of a yellow, flowering plant. With a purr she bounded forward, recognizing the distinct flora as goldenrod. With new-leaf here she knew that the new growth of herbs would be flourishing, and with the foxes around every corner Mothlight knew that she couldn't get to much. Carefully, she broke off the stems at the root, careful not to shred them. After getting the small patch she headed back over to Cherrystorm, long tail waving happily behind her.~~ ᴊᴀʏғʀᴏsᴛFalconmist couldn't help but agree with Mapleflight on the topic of Cherrystorm. As far as she could tell, the tom was incredibly protective over the she-cat, almost too protective. But for all she knew, he needed to be. After all, tenderpaws could be quite rambunctious. "Well, there's nothing you can do about it." The spotted she-cat mewed, moving herself down onto the earth. "Talk to him all you want but nothing's going to change. It's just a waste of your breath if you ask me."

Something had to be done about these foxes now. More and more of her cats were becoming injured, and as a leader, Honeyteller needed to step up and protect her Clan in every way possible. These foxes were a threat, and she needed to see to it that they were dealt with. ”Thank you, Nightstorm,” the omen-teller mewed as she dipped her head in gratitude. ”Get something to eat and some rest. You deserve it.” She watched the tom until he was back into camp. Honeyteller’s amber eyes turned back to Amberstep. Without even thinking she leaned forward and pressed her muzzle against the other she-cat’s cheek. ”I want to stay with you for a bit longer. Then I’ll check on Gingerear.” Honeyteller didn’t want to visit her friend when her nerves were still frazzled. If she waited until she was calm then the visit would go much more smoothly than it could if the omen-teller was still on edge.
- - -
A long sigh escaped from Sagepaw. Did she even want kits when she was older? It would be nice, she knew that much, but did she really want to give up her protector duties for at least six moons? ”Why not?” She questioned Darkpaw. ”Why won’t you have kits for the Clan?” That was the last thing she had to say about the kit situation at the moment as her friend went on to talking about other ways PeakClan could get members. Sagepaw nodded, liking the sound of that more than having kits with Ravenpaw. ”There will certainly be interested loners, and yeah, other tenderpaws will totally want to join! I bet even some older cats would want to join.” If GroundClan couldn’t get rid of the fox problem then how many cats would want to join PeakClan? They didn’t have problems with foxes! Without a single complaint Sagepaw followed Darkpaw into the stream. Instantly a stinging sensation came over her as the water hit her still open wound along her cheek and shoulder. The tabby bit back a pained hiss, but she had froze long enough that Ravenpaw was now standing nearby. She turned her amber eyes to him. Luckily her annoyance with him outweighed the pain of her wounds. ”You say that now, but just wait until we’re at the mountain’s peak. You’re gonna wish we did this earlier,” she mewed matter-of-factly. ”H-hey…!” Sagepaw spluttered when water was thrown into her face. She growled, racing forward and then leaping, landing her front paws on Ravenpaw’s hindquarters and pushing down. ”You’ll regret that, fox-breath!”
- - -
The slender tom shrugged his shoulders at her question. ”I believe it would work. We take down a fox or two and they tell their mangy friends that we’re not something to be messed with.” Cherrystorm paused for a moment, absorbing in what exactly Mothlight had just said. Foxes were totally different from cats. They didn’t live in groups like Clan cats did, but surely they got together from time to time. If they didn’t foxes wouldn’t have their own kits - they had to get together to breed at least. ”Would you have any ideas on how to get rid of them?” He turned his amber gaze to Mothlight with a serious look in them. He truly wanted to know if she had any opinions on what to do. Perhaps it would be wise to take in the opinion of a cat who wasn’t trained to be battle-orientated. Cherrystorm perked his ears up as Mothlight bounded away from him. He watched her as she bounded over to a patch of goldenrod. Following after her the tabby tom plucked a few of the stems, careful to not tear or break any of the stems or flowers. ”Is this enough?” He asked through his jawful of marigold, stepping out of the flowers they left behind and back on their main path.

Mothlight shrugged at Cherrystorm's suggestion. She wasn't sure how attacking a few at a time would play out, but then again she wasn't a protector. She spent her time with plants and sick or injured cats, not hunting and training for battle. The tom's next question took the she-cat by surprised. He wanted to know her opinion on battle? That was certainly new. Mothlight couldn't pinpoint a time when a protector had ever asked for her opinion on something battle related. "To be completely honest I don't know.." She mewed, thinking the question over as she left the tom for a few moments to grab the herbs. What would she do about the foxes? It was certainly something she had thought of, but never pinpointed a specific answer to. Caught by the tom's voice once more, Mothlight nodded. "That's perfect." She mewed, voice muffled by the goldenrod she was holding.

Her answer had been expected by the tomcat, but he had asked anyway just in case his assumption had been wrong. He nodded in response, mulling over her words for a long while. It was silent until he finally parted his jaws to speak once more. ”Even if battle isn’t the only answer, it’s the only thing I can come up with. We’ll lose cats, that’s for sure, but the Clan code tells us to give our live to the Clan.” He knew this wasn’t something Mothlight wanted to hear more than likely, but it was on his mind. ”When I became a protector I vowed to give my life in service of my Clan. If we go into battle then I can only hope every cat remembers their own vow.” He turned away from the tortoiseshell after he had spoken his words. In his own little world now he carefully picked the goldenrod. He awaited for the she-cat to answer his earlier question about the herbs he had helped gather. Cherrystorm flicked his tail to show he acknowledged her words. He looked around, ears angled forward to check the surrounding area for any sounds since he couldn’t scent the air with goldenrod in his jaws. So far the coast was clear, nothing dangerous in sight. Good, he thought, glad to know that no foxes were in the current area.

Mothlight nodded. "I'm not sure if that's the smartest thing to do, but it seems like the only option." She agreed. "But, what do I know? I'm just a healer." She mused, flicking the tip of her tail at her words. At her mention of being a healer, the she-cat thought it best to continue the task she set out to do. Padding forward, Mothlight meticulously looked around, as she was unable to scent the air for more herbs.

”In the end it’s Honeyteller’s decision,” Cherrystorm meowed, leaving it at that. The omen-teller would figure something out once she spoke with her elites about the possibilities. She would perhaps even call a meeting of some of the Clan’s senior warriors to discuss a plan with. If that were the case then Cherrystorm himself would be called forth, perhaps his sister as well. Pushing aside the thoughts for now, Cherrystorm placed his herbs down by his paws for a moment. ”Cobwebs and poppies now, right?” He asked to make sure he had remembered correctly. He knew Mothlight was searching for herbs he knew well, and he was sure he was right in his assumption, but he wanted to make sure before he padded off in search of one of those two items.

Mothlight nodded in agreement to Cherrystorm. The tom was right, it was Honeyteller's decisions. Not an elite's, not a protector's, not anyone's but her's. The thought of elites made the she-cat think of Icetail. A warmth spread over the she-cat at the thought of the tom, causing a small smile on her face. She hated that he was stuck in the healer's den, but if all went well, he wouldn't be there for long.
Catching herself in thought, Mothlight shook her head and made the smile disappear. She didn't want Cherrystorm to catch her smiling to herself. The she-cat was snapped out of her daze when the tom spoke up. "Oh, yes." She mewed, looking around. "They should be around here somewhere...poppy seeds grow well in this part of the territory."

Cherrystorm nodded a slight hesitation to Mothlight. He could only wonder about what she was thinking of. He caught a hint of a smile on the she-cat’s face, but he chose not to question it. Her smile, her thoughts, was none of his business. She didn’t ask him about his thoughts and he would do the same to her in return. Knowing that poppy grew well in this area, the tomcat went on to search for the flowers. He looked around, tail flicking in thought. There didn’t seem to be any in this particular spot. Padding off the tabby protector continued his hunt for poppy seeds. Walking around a few bushes and trees, the ginger feline was able to finally spot a sprouting poppy. He bounded over to the yellow flower, noting silently how it was barely out of its blooming stage. ”Found some over here!” Cherrystorm called out in the direction of Mothlight. Already he could see a few more poppy flowers scattered around just waiting to be picked.

Wandering away from Cherrystorm, the tortoiseshell she-cat was sniffing around in the grass when she heard Cherrystorm calling her. Looking up, the she-cat scanned her eyes over the terrain, only stopping when she saw the tom's ginger pelt. The lanky she-cat bounded over to them and stopped at his side, setting the goldenrod down and sniffing the plants. "Hmm.." She murmured, looking over the seedlings. "I think I'll leave these for now, since they're barely grown." She mewed, before getting up and taking a step over to another patch of freshly bloomed ones. "But these look nice." The she-cat picked a few stalks of the seeds before going back to get her goldenrod. She was pleased with how well this herb collecting trip had gone. It was nice to get such a good amount in such little time.

The poppies were young, but Cherrystorm felt like the seeds could be harvested. He was about to try and take some of the little flowers when Mothlight bounded over. He stopped to turn and look at the she-cat, waiting to hear what she would have to say about the flower patch. So they were too young? Cherrystorm blinked, thinking it over. Mothlight did have a point, and she was the healer on this patrol after all. She would obviously know more than he would about herbs. Without a word he followed the tortoiseshell to the mature patch of poppies, instantly taking a few of the flowers to add into his collection of goldenrod. He was about to lean forward and pick one last flower when a familiar scent caught his attention. Cherrystorm shot forward, unable to stop himself as instinct took over. A squeak of surprise was cut off instantly as the protector brought down the mouse that had shot out of one of the nearby flower patches. Picking up the rodent the ginger tabby padded over to Mothlight and dropped his catch. ”Hungry?” Since they weren’t on a hunting patrol the prey was theirs for the taking.

Amberstep purred softly at Honeyteller’s care, too tired to talk with Nightstorm but good enough to at least listen to Honeyteller and understand. “Alright,” she murmured softly. “We can go back to the healer’s den together.” She laid her head down against Honeyteller’s paws, a moment of quiet tranquility that could ground both of them. Pressing close, she could hope for something more that they had been slowly creeping up on for all of these moons- but she wouldn’t think of it, would she? They had affection, but surely Honeyteller could find someone better than Amberstep. Surely.
-
Ospreypaw was quiet while the other tenderpaws talked, padding along with near-silent steps after the others. He kept close to Sagepaw, not reacting all that much to the conversation other than some mrrows of amusement, wading into the stream with a wince and silent grumbling. He startled when Sagepaw pushed Ravenpaw, though, making him bound to the other side of the stream. “Come on,” he mumbled softly. “We should get going so we can hunt for food and also get to the peaks.” He still doubted how good the plan was, but it was his best bet to stick with Sagepaw and the group, but with the still cold streams it wasn’t good to always stick around.

Mothlight scooted over next to the patch, allowing Cherrystorm in to grab a few stalks. She was sure that some other healers might have taken the younger poppy seeds, but she liked to have them already bloomed and fully grown. She had no way to grow them back in camp, so it was worth it to her to leave the younger ones behind. They would just go to waste in camp.
Hearing a squeak, Mothlight jerked her head up in surprise. Since she had gone back to collect her goldenrod, she hadn't even noticed that the tom had gone off to catch prey. Tipping her head, Mothlight padded over to the protector and set her herbs down. "I guess I could eat." She mewed, twitching her whiskers. "Would you like to share?" She asked, sitting in front of the tom and flicking her tail against the ground.
