[[ Hmm, honestly I can imagine any of my cats in a relationship except for Owlpaw really. Elkpath is a shy little gay, Batpaw could have an interesting relationship with a guy or girl who can handle her fiery relationship probably some good friend/rival with a whole love-hate relationship haha, Jackdawsong seems to flirt with literally everyone in the Clan so he'd end up falling for someone without realizing it at first like "whoops I actually really do like this person but I seem like that kind of guy who's a player or something" and Cocoa maybe? Like someone would have to really have her to trust again or plot twist someone betrays her and she goes for revenge oops So yeah. xD ]]

It was actually refreshing to hear what another cat had to say about his thoughts. It was even better knowing that it was Mothlight who was hearing and listening to him. Ever since he could remember he had always been close to the mottled she-cat. Even when she had fallen for another he still held on to his feelings for her, and while they still held strong, he knew that only Mothlight could be the one to make the final decision. Now wasn’t the time to think deeply into his feelings toward the she-cat. This was the time to think about his thoughts on Honeyteller. ”Really?” Icetail found himself asking. Forgetting about the chipmunk, the white tom focused all his energy on the she-cat healer. ”I can see where you’re coming from, but there’s just something there in the back of my mind telling me differently. I feel like a lot would be different if she wasn’t star-kissed. If she had never gotten that first dream all those moons ago…” Icetail trailed off. What more could he say right now? He honestly didn’t want to come off as too ambitious at the moment, it wasn’t the time for that. Right now was just the time to get Mothlight to see his first level thoughts on Honeyteller’s leadership.
- - -
Amberstep was okay. Amberstep was okay. Amberstep was okay. The same statement ran through Honeyteller’s mind like a stubborn mantra all the way to the healers’ den. The omen-teller knew that her elite was in good paws, extremely good paws, but there was still that terrible worm of worry that wriggled around inside her mind. As she neared the stern voice of Mistwatcher caught Honeyteller’s attention. She flicked her ears forward, her tail kinking out as if she were about to make a tough call in the middle of an intense battle. Underneath her pelt she was tensing up. The voice of Amberstep brought new speed to her paws. Leaving Ospreypaw a few steps behind, Honeyteller slipped into the healers’ den, amber eyes scanning the shadowy shelter until they landed directly on Amberstep. A sigh slipped from her tongue. ”Amberstep,” she breathed, stepping closer to where she was in a deep nest. Honeyteller concentrated on Amberstep’s wounds for a long while before she tore her gaze away and turned to see the familiar form of Mistwatcher. About to say something, her jaw open, she stopped. Instantly she looked back to the elite that she was so worried about; Honeyteller was worried about Sagepaw - who was still out like a light from her poppy seeds - as well, but Amberstep was first on her mind. ”Please do as Mistwatcher says. You’ll never heal if you do too much.” The omen-teller’s voice was soft, whispery even. The soft-furred she-cat sat down next to the elite. ”The Clan needs you to be at your best. Not healing all the way will hinder you.” Not that Amberstep wasn’t always amazing at her duties, but she needed to heal, needed to regain her physical strength.

(( honestly i could see icetail using their relationship as a way to get more of the clan against honeyteller? like “hey she’s having a relationship with her own elite it’s so unprofessional she should know that its so frowned upon, gosh” and others sometimes doubting their choices bc of it ))
amberstep, mistwatcher & honeyteller ;; healer’s den
Mistwatcher just groaned as Amberstep fought him. They really didn’t need to lose an Elite early on and his face was set in a grimace as she snapped and growled at him. His tail lashed back and forth but he determinedly kept putting new cobwebs on the newly bleeding wounds, refusing to rise to the challenge before Honeyteller started to speak and Amberstep fell completely silent, the first time since she had woken up. “Honeyteller,” Amberstep murmured so softly, reaching out a paw before Mistwatcher forced it down. She spared a snarl for him but turned back to Honeyteller, heart breaking at how focused she was on the wounds- it really wasn’t all that bad but everyone was acting like it was, and she had to keep moving and working for the Clan. They were weaker without her, and every second she wasn’t outside organizing the clan or going on patrols was wasted. For Honeyteller, though, Amberstep had to calm down. She had to listen to her omen-teller, someone she had looked up to and befriended for the longest time. Honeyteller was undoubtedly the closest friend she had, and Amberstep averted her eyes at the frail, vulnerable sound of her voice. “I’ll be fine very quickly,” she said in a near-whisper just like Honeyteller, ignoring the cobwebs being replaced as she spoke. “Don’t worry about it, Honeyteller. I’ll be fine. I’ll be up in a day or two and it’ll be perfectly fine and I can go back to clan duties. None of it was too deep-“ “Yes it was,” Mistwatcher muttered flatly, and Amberstep hissed at him before continuing to speak with Honeyteller. “None of it was too deep, and I’ve always been able to heal quickly. Even a fox can’t stop me now.”

[ ohh, i could see that too now that you mention it. Ice would totally do something like that ]
Unlike many of cats of her Clan, Honeyteller had never seen battle. The only wounds she had ever faced were from thorns or a bone that she had crunched in a wrong way and it had stabbed her in the tongue. Other than anything like that the omen-teller had never fought off a fox or bobcat or anything. She had certainly ran into some of those creatures, but never once had she lifted her claws in the face of one. She had always been protected by the Clan, more so than other members. GroundClan wouldn’t let their future omen-teller be injured or, worse, killed. And now they wouldn’t let their omen-teller be killed even though she had a full set of nine lives at her disposal whenever her Clan needed her. Because of her inexperience with wounds and battle Honeyteller believed Amberstep’s wounds to be much worse than what they were, but what she had seen before the elite was patched up had been horrible - Amberstep staggering into camp, bloody, battered, bruised...her collapsing in camp and not waking up. Honeyteller had been worried sick for the dark ginger she-cat. Honeyteller felt like it was much too early into her leadership to lose an elite. In reality it was. It was also too late for her to lose a cat she felt so close to. Cloudteller hadn’t even been dead for a whole two moons yet and already she had come close to losing the second elite she had named. If Amberstep had been lost who would she have named to replace the female? There was no other cat quite like Amberstep. Many were capable of stepping up to become an elite, but none were quite like the she-cat Honeyteller had named as an elite a moon ago. It would be devastating for the Clan to lose a cat like Amberstep so soon after losing a valuable cat such as Cloudteller. These thoughts simmered in the omen-teller’s mind for a long moment as she digested everything. Mistwatcher was right, Amberstep was too injured to get up and go about her full duties no matter how bad Amberstep wanted that. There was a thought that ran through the white and orange she-cat’s mind as she looked down at her elite, one of her best friends. It was a thought that could perhaps bring the healer and former protector into a compromise. ”Mistwatcher,” Honeyteller mewed, turning to look at the gray and white healer. ”Could Amberstep at least name cats for patrols and whatnot? Not even I will let her go about her full duties,” a quick glance was made to the elite, ”but surely she can arrange patrols even while she rests and heals.” It would at least give the elite something to do instead of sitting around in the healers’ den for a good moon or longer. It would keep her thinking as well, giving her mind a chance to run through the basics of putting together a patrol. Surely Mistwatcher could allow Amberstep that much.

(( it’s so wonderful!! yep! and then everyone just…slowly turns against the two and those still loyal to them ))
From the start of her training to become a protector, Amberstep had been exposed to danger. Through trips, falls from trees, battling with other tenderpaws and her mentor, and even some scary incidents where she was on patrols that had predators or hostile loners and rouges, Amberstep was no stranger to wounds. She was just so used to getting up after them, though, that only the bobcat attack and defending Sagepaw from the fox had set her back enough that she had to stay in the healer’s den for an extended amount of time. It would have been so much easier if she had extra lives, she knew. It wasn’t that Amberstep wanted the omen-teller position- not at all- but just the backup that the other lives gave them. Honeyteller could worry less and everything would be fine. “Honeyteller-“ Amberstep paused, looking away with a hiss when Mistwatcher pressed just a bit on a deeper wound. “I promise. I’ll be fine to go back to my normal duties soon. Don’t make me sit here.” She was pleading just ever so slightly now, knowing that it wouldn’t happen, and she deflated as soon as Mistwatcher sighed and nodded to Honeyteller’s request. “Fine. Only if she’s awake and doing well, however. If she’s sleeping when patrols are being organized, leave it to Icetail. I’ll tell Icetail when she’s awake, though, so he can direct cats to her for patrols. When she needs rest, anyone in the den who’s not healing or a healer would have to leave.” Mistwatcher sighed and went to fetch some more herbs, including poppy seeds, which left the two of them alone for a fraction of time. Amberstep could only wince as she looked up at the omen-teller. “Really,” she mumbled. “I’m perfectly fine, see? No need to worry. No fox could ever touch me that badly. None of the wounds are truly deep.” She was lying through her teeth to try and make Honeyteller feel better about it all. She knew that sometimes Honeyteller would worry so much, and even blame it on herself at times- best to curb that before the little party could even start. “I’m an Elite, remember? Too strong for even a bobcat to send me to the Givers.”

[ thank you so much ;w; Ahhh yeah the poor things ] Yeah, Amberstep was tough, but that didn’t mean she was invincible. Every cat had their weak moments and weak spots, and the elite was no different. There were times when Honeyteller wished that many of her Clanmates could be invincible, especially in times such as this. She didn’t want Sagepaw to feel pain. She didn’t want Amberstep to feel pain. Seeing them in pain, even if they were trying to hide it, just wasn’t something the omen-teller wanted to see. It hurt her heart to see her cats in pain. Omen-tellers were supposed to see into the future and warn their cats of anything bad to come. Had Honeyteller failed in doing so? The Givers had not shown her anything such as a fox attack. It somewhat worried her. Usually the Givers were on top of such events. Had they wanted Amberstep to join their ranks? ...No. That wasn’t it. That couldn’t be it. If they wanted the ginger she-cat they would have taken her. These thoughts stayed in the she-cat’s mind for much longer than she wanted them to. She was glad that Amberstep’s and Mistwatcher’s voice cut through most of the darkening ideas forming in her mind. ”I need you to let your wounds fully heal. Doing your full duties will only keep you from healing completely.” If her wounds were never given the chance to heal all the way then the she-cat would only run into more problems later. Infections would be more likely to settle in. Stiff joints would perhaps be a problem that would come on much earlier in the elite’s life. A myriad of problems that could have been avoided would happen to poor Amberstep. Honeyteller couldn’t let anything bad happen to her elite. ”Thank you, Mistwatcher.” Honeyteller looked to the tom and dipped her head in respect before turning back to Amberstep. ”For now I’ll let you make patrols. Other than that I don’t want to see you doing anything that could open your wounds.” While her voice was still soft there was a firmness to it - the voice of an omen-teller expecting to be listened to with great intent. Honeyteller looked over her friend with worry, yet there was that firmness in her gaze that had been in her words earlier. Finally a small, ever so subtle, smile creased the she-cat’s lips. ”That you are. And while you may be invincible to bobcat attacks, foxes are different.”

She hurried after him, even more caught off-guard by the fact that the small smile he sent to her made her stomach tingle weirdly. What's this? Dandelionmilk tilted her head again, glancing up at Soothawk with an unreadable look in her eyes. Th-there it is again! She thought as this time her pelt tingled and her chest tightened. What was going on? Considering for a moment, maybe she just felt a bit flattered that he asked if she was okay and this was just what awkward felt like. Looking away with widened eyes, the she-cat bit her lip. Soothawk slipped from GroundClab's camp, a small purr rumbling in his throat. The fresh, wet air rushed through his thick pelt and he couldn't help but smile. New-leaf was such a beautiful time of the year, and Soothawk liked to take advantage of it in every way that he could. New-leaf and Leaf-fall were the seasons one could find him in any part of the territory, at any time of the day. He loved to take advantage of the cool, yet not too cool, weather. The tabby tom looked back over at Dandelionmilk after a moment. "Is there somewhere specific you want to go?" He asked, twitching his whiskers. The tom was up for anywhere, but if the she-cat wanted to go somewhere specific, then of course he would follow. Mothlight shifted her weight once more, inching a tad bit closer to the tom in an attempt to get comfortable. She too had forgotten about the half eaten chipmunk that laid in front of them. She was so entranced and interested in this conversation that her appetite had disappeared. It was certainly refreshing to hear Icetail talk about his feelings. And while the two had always been very close, it was still unlikely for him to open up in this way, especially about Honeyteller's position in the clan. After expressing her thoughts on Icetail's previous question, the healer watched the white tom silently, waiting for an answer. She was a bit unsure of how he would reply, but she was certainly curious. Ice tail had never lost his temper around her, and certainly he wouldn't start now. "But she also is new at this." Mothlight added. "It's hardly been two moons since Cloudteller has died, and ultimately experience is the best form of knowledge. She might not be impressing you now, but hopefully within the next few moons she will."The she-cat's statement wasn't exactly the best response she could have given, but Mothlight believed every word of it. Experience was the best way to learn, and in regards to being Omen-teller, Honeyteller didn't have much of it. Sure she was star-kissed, but having dreams and guidance by the Givers wasn't going to compensate for the sheer actions the role would entail. "But Iagree. I do think things would be different, I'm just not sure how much different they would be."

At Dandelionmilk's silent answer, Soothawk nodded. The tom had originally planned to head down to the river, and without any objection from his partner, it seemed that that was still in the cards. He headed that way, thoughts caught up in the idea of practicing his fishing skills. The tom had never been good with anything water-related, but that didn't mean he was going to give up. He wanted to be good, better if anything, and that was enough for him to keep with the idea.

Amberstep gave a long, drawn-out sigh as Honeyteller gave her verdict. “Fine, Honeyteller. I’ll heal as fast as I can so I can keep serving the Clan.” That was her purpose, after all- keep the Clan alive, keep Honeyteller alive, believe in the Clan and do all she could for it. That was what her parents had taught her, what the Clan and her mentor had taught her, and it had been in the front of her mind when she had been chosen as an Elite. However, Amberstep huffed with a grin when Honeyteller spoke. “Nope, still invincible to foxes. I’m not dead, right?” She chuckled but sighed when Mistwatcher came over and gave her a poppy seed to eat. His stare was dead-on and she growled before taking it, the effects of the herb making her sleepy and tired as she laid there. “Go lead,” she managed to mumble before falling asleep. “You’re good at it.” Once she had passed out, Mistwatcher heaved a sigh. “Right. So we’ll keep her here on a constant watch the next few days, since we need to change the cobwebs on the deeper wounds at times and make sure she doesn’t overexert herself. You’re fine to see her as much as you want, and same goes for Icetail, but any protectors or protector tenderpaws bothering her will be kicked out. We don’t want anything bad to happen, so you might want to spread that around.”

The tortoiseshell she-cat was making some pretty decent points. Honeyteller was still new to this, but she had been training for this particular position since she had started her tenderpaw training. Experience mattered, Icetail knew that much, but for some reason it still bugged him that his sister was the omen-teller. He had been working all his life to show how worthy he was, how capable he was of being a leader. He actually worked for what he wanted whereas Honeyteller had simply been given the position. Icetail was an elite, a position that the white tom had wanted just as much as being the omen-teller, but he knew that deep down Honeyteller had only made him an elite in hopes of calming his ambitions. That certainly had not. If anything it had made his ambition grow all the more. Even still, the tom had to agree with Mothlight. Experience was certainly a huge factor in being a wonderful omen-teller. ”You’re right. Of course you’re right. Time will tell how everything about this turns out,” the elite mewed after a moment. He drew in a long breath before letting it out. Looking at Mothlight, Icetail leaned forward and pressed his nose against the she-cat’s shoulder. ”Thanks for listening to me, it means a lot.” It really did. Anything that Mothlight did for Icetail meant a lot to the tomcat, even if that just was her listening to his thoughts and worries.
- - -
It was a huge relief for Honeyteller that Amberstep was listening to her. It made the ginger and white female feel much better about all of this - Amberstep would make good on her promise and heal as fast as she could to return to her full duties. That was something that Honeyteller admired in the elite. She was stubborn, sometimes too much for her own good, but stubborn cats were hard-headed as well, not likely to just give up after something like a fox attack. ”I know you will,” Honeyteller mewed softly in response to her elite. A small chuff of amusement came from the leader. She rolled her eyes with humor shining in them. ”That you’re not, and you better not ever die on me.” After she had spoken she fell silent. Honeyteller watched in silence as Mistwatcher came over and silently had a little battle with Amberstep. The healer managed to get the she-cat to take the poppy seed. Knowing she couldn’t just leave right now until she knew the elite was asleep, Honeyteller sat and waited, the only motion coming from her when Amberstep spoke up right before slipping into unconsciousness. ’Go lead. You’re good at it.’ A smile parted the she-cat’s muzzle. ”Thank you,” she breathed softly in Amberstep’s direction. At least some cat believes in me. Now it was time to hear the protocol for Amberstep’s healing process. Honeyteller turned to look and pay attention to Mistwatcher. She nodded in understanding as he spoke. ”Understood. I’ll see to it that the Clan knows to leave her be.” A pause. Then Honeyteller added, ”Should I bring some prey to you, and for Amberstep when she wakes up? You’ve worked hard, and I thank you so much for doing what you can for her.” If she had lost Amberstep… It would have been terrible, too terrible for Honeyteller to imagine.

Mothlight nodded at what Icetail said. The tom was right, only time would tell. Time was required for many things to make sense, especially in the wake of a new leader. The tortoiseshell she-cat firmly believed that it wasn't right to judge a new omen-teller until at least few moons into their leadership, unless their was a painstakingly obvious reason to judge them before then. But with Honeyteller there wasn't, and Mothlight had faith in the she-cat that she would lead GroundClan well. The Givers obviously thought so as well, and that was all that mattered.
Feeling Icetail's nose against her shoulder made Mothlight let out a rumbling purr. She leaned over and licked the tom's ear in response, eyes bright. "Of course." She newer then sat up, taking notice of the chipmunk once more. "Now let's the finish this chipmunk. It's probably freezing by now." She gave a small mrrow of laughter before taking a small bite of the prey, pushing it back over to the white tom next to her.
