opera has enough material that you could ship almost anyone with anyone and it would make sense to a degree

Ooh nice! I'd love to go to that area. I love the snow in December but by January I get sick of it xD Winters here are brutal. Colour is probably either turquoise and grey. Book...hmm that's hard. I love anything Maggie Stiefvater.

Mosspool - Sounds like a vastly different planet fron mine XD Jk. We have torrental rain and sporadic heat waves. I'm not really a fan, but I did read the entire Shiver trilogy. I don't really have one favorite book either, just favorite authors. Write now I love Sabaa Tahir and Victoria Aveyard. What about favorite Warriors series? lol

xD I really like Victoria Aveyard too. Becky Albertelli is another one of my favourites. Favourite Warriors series would probably be the original or new prophecy.

to be honest though metaphorically speaking an actual relationship between the Don and Leporello would never work out, I would think, and it'd probably end in some kind of major catastrophe rip poor old Leporello, his love not being reciprocated is probably in his benefit...

@redheartofriverclan - Yeah. Even if the Don was at all "interested" at some point, there's no way he would return Leporello's feelings. It's kind of sad, but better that the Don isn't "interested" since that would be more sad

there's literally no possible way Leporello can benefit from this he really is the punching bag of the universe

and then there's me and my great idea to actually have him living in the streets with the trash when we first meet him in Ensemble i am obviously very kind (not) to characters.

honestly by this point I'm looking over everything like "ok so how can I traumatize these characters even more" even Sarastro of all characters ends up being dealt a horrible deck. none of them profit from Ensemble. they all are in worse situations than they were in the opera except for possibly Tamino because he's entertaining now, but even then Ensemble!Tamino has quite a bit more trauma than his opera self lmao

Omg, lol. Their lives went from zero (opera ending) to negative 100 (Ensemble) XD Well, from what you said, he was boring and then became a real character™.

Ensemble: We Make Things Worse(TM) he went from being the bland hero to A Real Boy, thank god having to write about the original would be a snooze fest in and of itself.

Yep I’m all caught up. I can’t wait for the last book! Yeah I love both her books! I definitely recommend them. I love characters from Power of Three and I’m a big fan of Ivypool, but I like the storylines of the first two series better though. I’ve read everything except for Shattered Sky and Tigerheart’s Shadow (I think that’s the name)

There's an easy way to tell them apart. Opera Tamino fixes everything, Ensemble Tamino just makes everything worse lmao it gets tiring seeing Tamino and Papageno and Pamina fixing everything with magic instruments so I take the magic instruments away (or lessen their power) so they actually have rewarding character arcs and all

magic in Ensemble is more of a weapon than anything, and it's got bad connotations with using it as it can only be obtained from the remains of the dead and so it is considered selfish to use it which is good because as a kid I was incredibly peeved with the whole "wow magic solves everything! even severe depression somehow? how, you may ask? we'll never know" so I fixed it

Magic is shown to be this liquid translucent material only obtained properly from the bodies of the dead, often believed to contain the soul of the dead it came from. Technically, this means that Tigrissa died in order for her magic to be within the flute, making her technically a ghost (if she exists). It has a strong association with death and the Death Jackal (basically the opera cats' version of Anubis, as after all The Magic Flute was based on Egyptian stuff), as well as a strong association to the sky (specifically lightning, as lightning combined with magic can pretty much create new living beings from the remains), which is obviously holding lots of power as it is the main theme of Ensemble. When a cat uses it, it's considered to be disrespectful to the dead and selfish, as you are using the remains of another to achieve your own ends. yeah the magic thing in the opera made no sense. like it can be used to protect you...but also charm animals...but also draw people near...but also stop depression? how??? what??? why

It makes sense, though. The power should come from some place, even if it's from the dead. Death Jackal sounds like an awesome death metal band XD How did you come up with the idea of magic from death? Right, of course it would be disrespectful, basically using someone who passed. See all my dragons here and heredivider by xxliving the black paradexx on glittergraphics.comI got the idea from having Tigrissa be a sort of spirit guide for Tamino (and from a plot point later on) and it grew from there. After all, in mythology lots of magic and mystic things seem to be connitated to dying and death, so it fits. (You can see a lot of Ensemble was inspired by mythology.) Death Jackal does sound like a metal band, now that I think about it. The Magic Flute makes no sense, really, but at least that means it gives me a lot of material to screw around with.

Magic has always been twined with death- even in the common images of sadistic witches and ghosts and the afterlife. It's a recurring theme throughout myths like the Sun and the Moon are. Opera really does leave a lot of things unanswered or able to be expanded on- it's great material for adapting

@redheartofriverclan - Oh, I guess so. I never thought of it that way, really. I guess I'm more analytical XD Missing the obvious lmao It really is. You can really take it wherever you want, unlike some stories where the storyline is set in stone.
