throw back thursday to when i would just literally run from tree to tree in my front yard for no reason i'd ride my bicycle up and down the street in the heat with all of the other kids on my street for hours. we didn't even go anywhere, but we were content :') honestly i would ride mine in front of the house only. but like i live on a dirt road so the danger was at max because if you fell down you were eating dirt and rocks hard core.

and i don't want to try and sound 'edgy' but most mainstream tv and movies in the present don't hugely interest me either. like downton abbey, the walking dead, i just... can't bring myself to care, lol. the walking dead is literally the worst show ever. my entire family watches it every week and it's like. wow. people standing around talking for an hour!!! how exciting!!! like literally almost nothing ever happens in this show.

i don't know... there is still a lot of meaningful music out there? but maybe it's not very prevalent so i can understand feeling like there's nothing very deep on the radio or whatever. and like the purpose of pop music is to be something fun, something to dance to. like i read something once talking about that, and how it's a formula that works even if it's a bit overused. you wouldn't say, like, 'wow, heart surgery is so boring nowadays, doctors need to be more creative' -- like it gets its job done i guess obviously it's fine to like whatever music you want. idek how to describe my own music tastes personally aha i switch around a lot maybe i'm just responding in this way because my tastes in music and entertainment are, like, entirely unrefined. i love action scenes with explosions and cool fighting and stuff, personally, and there aren't many old movies or books that really catch my interest so perhaps i'm kinda biased aha. and i don't want to try and sound 'edgy' but most mainstream tv and movies in the present don't hugely interest me either. like downton abbey, the walking dead, i just... can't bring myself to care, lol. this ^ i think there's a lot more variety in modern music than we give people credit for. now, top-40's music may be mostly about sex and drugs, but it's usually not intended to be meaningful. and some types may be niche and underground, but they're still there. i can't get down at the club to My Immortal, ya feel? also idek how my tastes work, it takes a LOT for me to get into a book or show but there's no telling IF i will, ya feel? it's just like "ok let's spin the wheel and see what fleur likes today!"

and like don't get me wrong i don't think all movies tv shows and songs need to be about romance and sex. i just don't think that it's fair to just write them off like they don't have meaning? i mean currently there's a show running on abc with a gay main character (i don't think the show is that great for representation (tho it seems to be a little better)). he recently had a boyfriend and they broke up and i think it's important to show that. there aren't many like gay main characters that just have a relationship and that's so valuable. and i think shows that work in dating for younger characters is really important for teens/young adults to see. that's a great point but i don't think anyone's trying to say they don't having meaning, just that they'd like to see less of those shows and films with romance as their sole interest. like, they've no message to convey outside of just sappy love stuff. it's fun to watch those things every once in a while but constantly being thrown the same story with a different script gets tiring after a while.

so much yes. their attire was a lot more modest as well, i think. like, i probably wouldn't wear too many dresses but i think i could pull off overalls or suspenders and button down blouses quite well. it all looked really comfortable and reasonable.
a lot of people weren't as specialized in their work, too. meaning, they could still take care of themselves and fix things on a regular basis. we live in a consumer culture where things are made to be replaceable. back then, the small things were mostly durable and you wasted less. i kind of admire that sort of ingenuity.
yes much agree
the clothing was a mix of practical but stylish and i love that
and today's throw-away culture drives me nuts.

i mean there are things that are moving away from that i think though? mostly kids movies. but also like i feel like there are dumb comedies that also don't focus on it but have it as just a subplot to help along the other stuff. and of course there will always be movies and stuff with it. but like again preference. honestly my gf and i love to settle in with a romcom abt early to mid 20 year olds and how their relationships suck!! check out how to be single. such a good movie honestly imo. also crazy, stupid love. a good one as well.

A rebirth maybe? Dont know maybe Im overthinking things.

I FULLY SUPPORT THIS
Cultural backlash against radical ideologies is common. it's a cycle that goes on forever. one group takes rule, rides the wave, plateaus at the extreme, and then is replaced by the opposite born in the ripples.
let's bring back the common social etiquette too

so, totally. it's all about preferences. what you prefer to see and what you don't. that's why there's a variety in what we can get. i'll give them a look. c;
EDIT: i guess what i'm trying to say is that, if the movie is about romance, have some romance. if it's not or just doesn't need it at all, maybe think about omitting that part.

i mean sometimes you learn to take the little you have and work with it. and like i said it's more kids stuff that doesn't have romance in it. so like i understand that media isn't for everyone. i mean i enjoy watching kids shows and kids movies so it's like. i get to stray away from that stuff for a little while. i mean it's fair that you want it out. but also i don't want it forced out like it's forced in. i mean platonic relationships are the bomb and definitely need to be represented. but also like there are different kinds of platonic relationships. like it could be a completely platonic sexual relationship of some sort. and like my concept of sex and love is so fluid so kind of like anything can happen at any time! and i just don't want it to be like, these people can not date because this story is no romance whatsoever!! if that makes sense. but also wasn't the hobbit a short book stretched into 3 movies? so like filler filler filler im sure.

if there's one thing that I wish would go back to 40-50 years ago, its definitely music. maybe its just because I grew up listening to nothing but old country and rock but I have a hard time listening to 90% of modern pop music because its just too electronic for me?? also most of it is rlly autotuned which I find annoying.
besides that though im pretty much fine with todays culture. and hey its not like I HAVE to listen to modern pop music so that's good 8D

I almost fell asleep twice while watching this episode"
apparently the majority of North America agrees with us as well because the ratings have super gone down this season. lets hope it ends soon

1920's=Swing 2020's=Electroswing Heck yes. And I would love to walk around in a fancy suit for no reason without getting weird looks from people. And those silly little glasses that pinch onto the bridge of your nose. And saying stuff like, "Copacetic!" and "What's cookin', Old Fruit?" and "Let's jive!" and "He's off his nuts!" and "Whatta load of piffle!" and "That kid putting on the ritz! What a Real McCoy!" without people asking me what language I'm speaking. And I'd love to go to random restaurants and see jazz bands getting gigs while I eat. I could go without 50's culture, though. It's kind of stale. Flamboyant parties in illegal speakeasies got downgraded to neighborhood house parties and barbecues. finally someone that understands me
