"I don't want to work with them, but I definitely don't want to form a prey deal with them." Darktail wrinkled his nose at the thought of having to eat lizards or fish. "I'll stick to birds and squirrels I think. Skyclan at least eats similar prey so they probably hunt similarly to us. Do you think our patrols will ever join together? I don't think I want to be hunting next to a random Skyclan cat."
Shadowblossom slowed her pace to walk closer together, their pelts brushing with each step. "You think your ears will grow back too?" she teased, eyes sparkling as she tried to keep the conversation light. They were getting nearer to the stream. The familiar sound of trickling water making Shadowblossom think of the early days of their relationship. They had spent many sunrises, sunsets and late nights near the stream, just sitting close and enjoying each other's company.

Plumfur took a quick look at the bracken walls. It looked like Dapplenight had been working on them since she had left on the hunting patrol. Noticing his shaking, she fluffed out her fur and brushed against him. "Would you be willing to take a break and share some prey?" she asked, feeling slightly hungry after the hunt. Aspenfall nodded in approval. If the two Clans cooperated peacefully, they could account for the herbs missing in their respective territories. "I hope we won't need that much catmint. It's always a blessing when cats stay healthy in leafbare." he commented. “That sounds wonderful.” Dapplenight sighed with relief, appreciative of Plumfur’s warm pelt. The thought of sharing prey and resting with her sounded far better than freezing out in the cold. “Of course. The hope is to keep it this way. The less we need, the better we can support without ridding the whole stores.” Peachdapple agreed. Plumfur turned to approach the fresh-kill pile, always thankful that her mate was appreciative of her quiet nature and didn't pressure her into talking about random things. It made sharing prey a lot less stressful for her. "What kind of prey do you want?" she asked. Aspenfall held a question on his tongue for a moment before letting out a sigh. "Peachdapple... is there another reason why SkyClan made this alliance?" he asked, feeling the need to know the truth. "We're friendly with the other medicine cats, but it's not typical for Clans to make alliances on this scale. I am happy that the herbs aren't going to waste, but I can't help but worry." he expressed.

I can’t imagine Skyclan letting us just pass through without at least a guiding Warrior.” Midnightstream huffed lightly. She let her gaze fall. “I wish we didn’t have to depend on this… but prey is so scarce.” “Starclan, I hope so, I haven’t felt my right ear since I got hit by that Monster. Big stupid thing.” Yarrowcloud snorted, able to joke about what used to bring him such awful memories. He smiled softly when he heard the sound of the stream. “I remember we went here the night after you became a Warrior. Starclan, I wanted to cheer your name so loudly so every Clan could hear it.”

I’m not picky.” He offered, not wanting to pick prey she didn’t like. Peachdapple paused in her sifting of the herbs, the contentment in her quickly becoming a hardened understanding. She lowered her paw to the ground and gave a small hum, before turning to look at the younger tom, her age showing in her response. “Thunderclan offered this, but Skyclan is not foolish. They know they benefit more from this alliance. But of all the Clans, Skyclan is the one that Thunderclan can relate most to. We hunt similar prey, share a border, and share experiences with Twolegplace. You will not remember this, but I remember clearly when Spiritstar was a Medicine Cat herself. Her destiny was more profound than any cat I’ve ever known. I grew to trust her through our relationship with healing, and Starclan. Lavendersky has been a wise voice for all medicine cats, myself included.” She gave a small smile, understanding and even heavy. “You, like me, were the opposite. We began as Warriors in training, and ended as Medicine Cats. We think like Warriors sometimes, without intending to, because a Medicine Cat serves their own separate code, when it comes to alliances. We should nurture them, rather than doubt them. If you want honesty, Aspenfall, I won’t hide it from you. An alliance will give both our clans prey, herbs, and a force that will keep Shadowclan, Windclan and Riverclan off our haunches if they become desperate enough to try anything. Lightningstar knows this, and Spiritstar knows this. Our job, you and I? Our job is to see our Clanmates healthy and alive, and extend that to Skyclan when it’s needed.”

Darktail gave a solemn nod, "We're just doing it while we need to. Once newleaf comes I'm sure we'll be back to hunting normally in our own territory."
Shadowblossom ambled towards the bank of the stream and settled down. Watching as the small patches of ice float by. "I'm still slightly embarrassed about stopping the whole ceremony to request Lightningstar give me Shadowblossom as a name. But I don't regret it. Blossompaw deserved to be honored."

"I'd much rather prefer that... luckily, I can be very patient." Midnightstream purred, before she looked at Darktail and admitted. "I'm also just... wondering what we might see, if we go to Twolegplace." She swallowed, not mentioning Shadeclaw or any of the rouge groups by name, but implying it. "I thought it was a great choice. I'm sure Blossompaw loves it, certainly as much as I do." Yarrowcloud purred, peering down into the water with a content hum, before looking back at his mate. "You've honored her memory beautifully. You still do."

Darktail pressed closer to her, "I'm sure we'll be safe in bigger groups. I hope we'll find Bloompelt. I know she probably won't come back to the clan, but I do miss her. And those two cats who helped Featherfoot when he was lost. I like them too." Darktail rarely brought up Bloompelt. Still a little hurt that his sister had chosen to leave the clan. Even if he understood why she did it. "After Bloompelt, I kind of felt alone. Featherfoot had his own mate and kits, my mother and father had each other. I'm glad I have you now. I don't think I can ever feel alone with you around."
Shadowblossom gave him a smile and a small nod. "I hope so. She's the only thing I used to live for. I'm glad I've found plenty of other things to live for since then. Including myself." she let out a little laugh, shaking her head "I wonder what Lightningstar would have made my name otherwise. I should ask him if he remembers. I love your name, but what did you wish it was as a kit or apprentice?"

I’ll be here for the long run.” Midnightstream decided, feeling a flicker of sadness for Darktail. It must have been hard to admit such a thing, but she felt warmed that he was willing to share his feelings with her. “Even just knowing she’s okay, that could be just as nice.” “I was already a Warrior by the time my mother died. I would have chosen to be named after her, but I’ve always liked the name I was given. I guess I could have always asked to be named after Lightningstar, he was still Lightningfur at the time after all. But, for all he did for me when I was his apprentice, and when I needed someone like him, I also knew that I was always going to be my own cat. I always did kind of look like a cloud when I puffed up. Maybe that was why Silverstar chose that one.” He chuckled.

Darktail nodded, "Yes, just to see her again and know she is doing okay would make me feel a lot better. I know you're worried about the rouges but we've already defeated them once. It wouldn't be smart for them to attack us again unprovoked." he mewed, trying to sound confident in his statement.
Shadowblossom purred in amusement, "Yes you do look rather cloud-like, especially after your fur's been wet and it starts to dry. I think it was a good pick for you. I think that would be the most fun part of being a leader. Getting to pick apprentice's warriors name. And doing the ceremonies."

"Starclan knows what kind of strength they've been festering up out there." Midnightstream sighed softly, before she admitted. "I just hope Bloompelt and Cricketsun have been able to avoid them out there." She knew neither wanted to be found, clearly, if Bloompelt had been willing to take her own newborn kits and leave in the middle of the night. Would she have been able to do that, if it were her in her paws, and if Darktail was in Cricketsun's? "All I know, is that she had to have loved him immensely to give up the safety of raising her kits here in the Clan." "I'm sure Lightningstar's had a hoot with naming new Warriors over the moons and moons." Yarrowcloud chuckled, before something akin to a sad acceptance crossed his face, as much as it seemed to pain him. "He looks... so much older now. I used to think Lightningstar was this... big, eternal, ageless Warrior. I can't help but to always see him as Lightningfur, and so I realize now that he's picked Ghostscreech for a reason, and it wasn't just because he was his apprentice too." He looked at Shadowblossom, voice quiet and honest. "I don't know if I'll be ready to lose this one."

Darktail flicked his tail, eyes hardening at the thought of the rouges hurting his sister and her family. "I'm sure they've had to have found a safe home away from them. The twolegplace is very big. Probably much bigger than we even know. They surely would have come back to the clan if it wasn't safe."
Shadowblossom looked at him sympathetically, knowing her mate cared deeply for the leader. "He must have several lives left still right? He's got nine of them after all. Remember how long Northstar lived? It seemed like so many lifetimes. And before her, Scarstar always looked like she was on her last life but lived for so long afterwards. He may be planning for the future, Ghostscreech will make a great leader in the future. But, I don't think Lightningstar is going anywhere just yet."

Though, she doesn't seem to really talk much about it. I bet they could find prey real fast... and Bloompelt, if we're willing to look, or if we even can." Midnightstream remembered. She quickly felt a flicker of guilt, knowing that Featherfoot's journey to Twolegplace in the first place was apparently a very unhappy one for the Clan. "Peachdapple won't tell me, but I know my sister. She just... she knows, she tells me all medicine cats just know these things, but I can tell she won't tell me because she knows that I already know. Not alot left." Yarrowcloud took a deep breath and sighed softly. "I just hope he knows how much he did for me, back then. He brought me out of a lonely place. I... all I've ever wanted was to make him proud. I really hope I have, at least for a little while." He admitted quietly. He pressed close to Shadowblossom, comforted by her presence.

Darktail looked thoughtful as he considered how Featherfoot would feel about returning to the twolegplace. Darktail himself did not remember Featherfoot being taken, they had both been too young. But he did grow older listening to stories about his lost brother. Never, did he ever think that Featherfoot would have returned to the camp, not only unharmed, but to have been living not that far away from the camp for moons and moons. "He would probably be happy to help. Maybe he could think of some tips to help the patrols out. I will have to ask him about it. Although he was pretty young when he lived there. I'm not sure how much hunting he actually did."
Shadowblossom's eyes filled with a fierce love for her mate, "He knows Yarrowcloud. You've always been loyal to this clan and you've never doubted your loyalty to him. I'm sure he's very proud of you and all you've accomplished. Starclan has given you many challenges. But you've met each one head on and survived to tell the story. How could he not be proud?"

It was true that SkyClan was the closest to ThunderClan in similarities and had a former medicine cat leader in Spiritstar, but he merely worried over the possibility of SkyClan being in trouble. However, he supposed that he should trust his mentor in this decision. "You're right... we should help SkyClan in any way we can." he admitted. "As long as the other Clans don't take advantage of us."

"Surely it can't be too different... er, well, if we stick close to the forest line, that is." "I hope so." Yarrowcloud murmured, before he smiled at Shadowblossom's assurances. He sighed with appreciation. "You always know what to say to make me feel better."

He already began carefully pulling out feathers, knowing his mate well enough to know that she would probably want to line their nest with them. He mewed softly. "How has your day been so far? Anything interesting happen?" "You have a solid intuition, if you're able to cover all your bases." Peachdapple nodded, complimenting her apprentice with a small smile, before she turned to face the herbs again and suddenly admitted. "You're going to have to, after all. You'll be the next head Medicine Cat of Thunderclan, sooner than you'd probably think. I get greyer and greyer each day." She chuckled, though it soon fell silent again.

Darktail gave a reassuring smile, "Right, there's still a bit of forest there, it'll just be in a new area for us and has it's own bit of challenges. I'm sure we'll get used to it after a while. Or we won't have to use it enough to get used to it. That would be even better. We're already halfway through leafbare and we've made it this far. Newleaf has got to bring new prey."
Shadowblossom purred, tilting her head to rest against his. "Well that's what I'm here for right? You always know what to say to me too. We were meant for each other."

Plumfur shook her head and took a bite of the pigeon. "I just went on the hunting patrol, but we didn't see anything unusual... I heard that the patrol came back from SkyClan?" she asked, not familiar with the situation aside from the possibility of an alliance with the neighbor Clan.
Aspenfall frowned and swished his tail across the floor of the den in thought. "Please don't say those things, Peachdapple. You sound like you heard an omen of your death." Peachdapple had trained his father before him and another medicine cat before that; he still couldn't imagine one of the strongest pillars of ThunderClan joining StarClan. "I don't think I could ever be ready..."

She admitted, before she stood to her paws and admitted. "I should probably move my nest closer to yours then, huh? I was planning on sleeping for a bit, if... you want to join me." She offered, a bit shy but inviting all the same. "That we were." Yarrowcloud purred, leaning down to groom Shadowblossom's ears as they watched the partially frozen stream mozy on along. "Wish I could stay right here, like this with you forever."

Peachdapple had trained his father before him and another medicine cat before that; he still couldn't imagine one of the strongest pillars of ThunderClan joining StarClan. "I don't think I could ever be ready..." "Oh! Yes, they did. I don't know the exact details yet, but Ghostscreech, Peachdapple and Russetfox came into camp looking very content. Ghostscreech went to report to Lightningstar, it seems that the patrol was successful then. I'm guessing Lightningstar will make an announcement soon." Dapplenight explained, taking a small bite after she took hers. "Oh, dear, I'd tell you if there was an omen after me." Peachdapple chuckled, turning then to look at her apprentice with a gentleness she tended to reserve for all the cats she had trained. She still remembered Heatherpaw standing where Aspenfall now stood, so full of potential. She had been so unsure then, freshly new to the position of Thunderclan's medicine cat when Mossfeather had passed. Her relationship with her own mentor had been so complex, with the worst of days and the best of days combined into an experience she would never forget. Mossfeather hated blood, yet her healing and ability to understand Starclan's path had made her into a powerful mentor. "Nobody's ever truly ready for this kind of position. I certainly wasn't. I remember waking up some mornings and wondering where Mossfeather had gone, if she was looking for herbs. I had to remind myself that she was gone, and I was left. That awful blizzard, all those moons ago, before you were born, was such a heavy burden for me. Losing Heatherpaw like that, for a moment I wanted to give up my name and become a Warrior again, because I felt I failed Thunderclan with each cat we lost." Peachdapple took a breath, before she continued. "But then I reminded myself that Thunderclan needed me, right where I was. Thunderclan needs you, right where you are, Aspenfall. This time, I know you're the one who will do what needs to be done, when I no longer can. Mousebrain." She laughed, teasing and sarcastic. "I'm not thinking of dying anytime soon. I'm thinking of when I will retire, and become an elder when I know it's my time to rest. I just want you to be ready, though I already know you are."

“Sunningrocks might have to wait.” Ghostscreech said over his shoulder, “At least until we gain our strength back. A fight in leafbare won’t do us any good.” He added, slowing as the neared the border. (We can continue on the border page if you would like.) Sunthroat’s whiskers twitched in amusement as Dawnpaw shook his fur out, “That’s alright. This isn’t something one can get on their first try.” He said, “Come on, let’s go again. Focus on where you want to land, don’t lose sight of it.” Owlfrost spotted Mothsong under the willow branches and huffed a sigh. The normally fierce she-cat had been acting differently since Shadeclaw’s deception, but even more gloomy since Willowpaw had passed. He moved towards her, his ear flicking as he wondered why he cared about Mothsong acting this way. “What are you doing hiding back here?” He asked, stopping as he reached her. “…We’ll need to get it back, sooner or later.” Frostmoon mewed suddenly, finally looking up at Ghostscreech, more upset than she wanted to admit, but hiding it behind a firmness. “Riverclan surely must think they’ve got the upper paw… they probably think Starclan has blessed them immaculately.” She muttered, trying to hide from Autumnfall’s sudden staring at her. The older she-cat looked at Frostmoon, suddenly seeming to burst with realization. A hint of sympathy filled her eyes, but it was soon covered by an awkwardness as she then looked at Ghostscreech. “Right.” Dawnpaw nodded quickly, determined this time to get the motions right. He bunched his muscles and leaped again, timing his spring better and this time managing to land on Sunthroat’s shoulders, albeit a bit wobbly. Mothsong lifted her head as Owlfrost approached. She turned her head slightly to face him, before she turned back to look at the willow trees again. “Willowpaw used to sit here before training and watch the willow branches sway. I always thought it was pretty pointless, but then he told me that he liked the way he could reach up and catch them. He liked the way they just… existed.” She suddenly reached one of her paws up to grasp at a leafless swaying branch. “He was such a good, happy apprentice. He worked hard, did everything right, always woke up on time, and yet he still was able to see the bright side of everything. A cat like him… stuck with a cat like me.” She rasped, quiet and stony, before she shook her head. “He took the anger out of me, and now that he’s gone, I just don’t have any left in me to feel at all. I just feel… tired.” She turned away a bit, almost ashamed to admit such a vulnerable thing to a cat she knew she was once so harsh towards. (It's all good! Icefire15 here ya go!)

“Sure!” Darktail replied, getting to his paws a little too quickly. He felt his fur grow hot as he caught his balance. “Um, lead the way?” He tried, a nervous smile overtaking him again.
Shadowblossom closed her eyes, allowing the sounds of the stream and Yarrowcloud’s gentle, familiar, breathing to relax her. “I know I’ve said it before, but the worst part of you retiring is, I miss sleeping beside you. I got so used it after all these moons, now I wake up and I’m startled every time you’re not there. I have to keep reminding myself you’re safe in your own nest in the elder’s den, and eventually I’ll get to join you again” she admitted quietly.

"Twolegplace is a complicated subject to talk about in the clans." Featherfoot explained, though he did feel better when he was able to be open about such a crucial part of his life. "I learned things there that aren't so common here. There are cats there that are alot more dangerous than an honorable Warrior." He looked down at Tigerpaw. "We called them Shadow Cats. Not like Shadowclan Cats, because Shadowclan cats follow the Code. But cats who slink around in the darkness, and take control of everything they touch." He grimaced at the memory, but quickly shook it away. "I can show you how to use rogue moves, but how to also use them with a Warrior's honor. I can't bear the thought of you ever having to use these moves to fight like a rogue." He looked at Tigerpaw. "You deserve better than that." (Bloop here ya go fox)

Midnightstream tried to sound confident, even if her voice came out a little wobbly and awkward, though she quickly moved to her very pristine nest and flicked her ear sheepishly. "Ah... I'll have to reorganize this so it fits my uhm... liking. I can be a bit particular about my nests." "Hm. Maybe the Warriors won't notice if I slip into the den every other night or two. Or, if you ever want to sneak past Eagleclaw and Emberfluff's snoring, you can come stay with me sometimes in the elder's den." Yarrowcloud offered, a bit humored at both scenarios.
