Darktail froze at Midnighstream's realization, eyes sweeping the camp he let out a sigh as he saw his parents sitting in the shadows together. "Oh.. they definitely saw the whole thing." he whispered. "Oh well. I'm sure everyone would notice pretty quickly right?" Shadowblossom giggled fondly as she listened to his song for her, always one to indulge him. "You've made me plenty happy Yarrowcloud." Glancing back over at Darktail and Midnightstream, she seemed to almost lock eyes with their son. "Uh oh, I think we've been caught snooping." “Oh! Oh, Starclan, your parents!” Midnightstream squeaked, looking at Shadowblossom and Yarrowcloud with wide eyes. She knew both were notorious for their warmth and kindness, but she wasn’t used to having parents seeing her feelings. She whispered. “They like me, right? They’re very nice, but- but what if I don’t fit the prey pile!” She fretted. “Oh, yeah, she’s panicking.” Yarrowcloud mused with a hint of empathy for their son and Midnightstream. “Probably thinking we won’t approve of her. Ah, to be young, though you never had to worry about my parents.”

Darktail laughed and nodded towards Midnightstream, "They think you're a great warrior! Don't worry about them. They can both be a bit much sometimes so don't panic if they come try and tease you or something. They're doing it out of love I promise."
Shadowblossom shook her head with a smile, "Us? When are we ever not approving of good clan cats. She'll realize soon enough she's safe from us. "Skyblossom at that point didn't care much for me, so I suppose you didn't have much to worry about either." she replied with a sigh. Shadowblossom had always loved her mother, but Skyblossom had lost too many pieces of herself by the time her daughter had grown into a warrior. No matter how much time she had tried to spend with her mother, Skyblossom always had an excuse ready on why she needed to be somewhere else.

Blizzardstorm hummed, nodding slowly, "They'll still be well taken care of as apprentices. You know we would never let them go hungry, and they'll start learning to hunt and take care of their clan just like we did. Do you remember the first day we left camp? It was probably the most exciting day of my life besides the day they were born." he mewed, leaning down to lick Tansykit on the head. The small she-kit had snuck in between his paws in the middle of their conversation, snoozing with her head resting in the fur of his shoulder. Seafoam sighed, "I suppose we'll all need a few seasons to heal. I wonder how the other clans are doing since the fire swept everywhere. I don't know what I would've done if you and your siblings hadn't made it out okay."

Tigerpaw looked at Featherfoot. “Oh yeah! Dad said you used to live in the twolegplace! I bet you have some crazy rogue battle moves.” He chattered, siblings forgotten. “How come you haven’t taught me any yet!” He complained. He had slowly opens up to his mentor, after his trauma with Shadeclaw. Now he talked Featherfoot’s ear off when before he barely spoke 2 words to him. "Twolegplace is a complicated subject to talk about in the clans." Featherfoot explained, though he did feel better when he was able to be open about such a crucial part of his life. "I learned things there that aren't so common here. There are cats there that are alot more dangerous than an honorable Warrior." He looked down at Tigerpaw. "We called them Shadow Cats. Not like Shadowclan Cats, because Shadowclan cats follow the Code. But cats who slink around in the darkness, and take control of everything they touch." He grimaced at the memory, but quickly shook it away. "I can show you how to use rogue moves, but how to also use them with a Warrior's honor. I can't bear the thought of you ever having to use these moves to fight like a rogue." He looked at Tigerpaw. "You deserve better than that." (Bloop here ya go fox)

Midnightstream relaxed a bit, eyes flickering with a hint of nervousness. "I just... I really want to be a cat that your kin likes too. But, uhm... I've gotten so used to being by myself that it might take a while for me to get used to that, but. I'd happily do it for you." She admitted, wanting nothing more than to experience the kind of care that she knew Yarrowcloud and Shadowblossom gave their sons. "I know." Yarrowcloud mewed softly, understanding Shadowblossom's experience better than most. Neglect from a living parent could be far more painful than not having them at all, yet he felt his heart break knowing how much love Shadowblossom always wanted to give, but who had lost so many she wanted to give it to. Yarrowcloud pressed close to her, mewing lightly. "You deserved far better than what you were given. I only wished Skyblossom had come to realize that. It took a long time but... I know now that we deserved better, and I only hope I comforted you as deeply as you comforted me back then. Wrenflight died when you were young, but he would have made your life as miserable as he did mine had he lived to see us become mates." He admitted. "So I'm glad he didn't."

*pokes Blazer with a stick*) (oopsie!) “Yeahh. I’m ready to go.” Autumnfall mused with a hint of confusion as she looked between Frostmoon and Ghostscreech, giving Eclipsestorm a sudden look of realization. Now she felt a flicker of surprise, and quickly had an urge to gossip about what she was witnessing. Oh, that was so tragically adorable! Frostmoon padded silently after the patrol, feeling nervous and downtrodden, but trying her best to look as formal and serious as she always seemed to be. “Got it! So, like a big rock or a tree stump?” Dawnpaw asked as he circled around his mentor and stopped a few paces from a large stone pushing up from the ground. He could surely get enough momentum from this, if he pushed hard enough.

Thanks ^.^)
Ghostscreech turned towards the RiverClan border once they left camp, easily falling into a steady pace for everyone to keep up with. He looked around the forest, glad that it was healing from the fire, although it hadn't been green for long once leafbare had crept in. Ghostscreech's tail-tip twitched as he thought of leafbare, hoping that these hunting patrols to the Twolegplace would keep them from starving this season.
Eclipsestorm noticed Autumfall's look and gave her fellow warrior a shrug, following after Ghostscreech as he led them towards the border. It was strange to see those two on the outs, but she wasn't going to let that distract her. "Think there will be a RiverClan patrol out and about?" She asked, trying to break the tension.
Sunthroat gave a nod of approval as Dawnpaw stood in front of the stone, "Anything you are able to jump off will work." He said, standing firmly in front of his apprentice. "I'll stand here for now, try to land on my shoulders, alright?" The senior warrior got into a steady stance, ready to bear the weight of Dawnpaw landing on him.
Owlfrost padded out of the warrior's den, shaking some clinging moss off his pelt. Sitting down to groom his pelt, Owlfrost glanced around the camp, taking in the daily activities going on. He needed to get out of camp sometime, maybe go hunting and try to find some prey in the forest.

Darktail nodded encouragingly, "It's alright Midnightstream. My family isn't going to expect you to suddenly be a different cat just because we're mates. I don't think they expect you to start inviting them to join you every time you sit down to eat a squirrel or anything. They might just acknowledge you a bit more and slowly start to get to know you better" he replied with a smile. "I think you'll find I'm very similar to both of them in a lot of ways."
Shadowblossom shook her head, not really wanting to discuss the trauma left by their respective parents for too long. "We both deserved better parents, yes. I'd like to think we've made up for their mistakes in the way we've raised our own kits. I've forgiven Skyblossom for her wrongdoings in her lifetime, but I don't think I will ever forget what my father did to my brother. Without him, my littermates and I could have all lived good lives and grown old together" she paused, letting out a small growl. "I don't think I can ever let go of that. And if you don't think you can ever forgive Wrenflight, then so be it. Mothers teach their young to forgive and be the bigger cat, but some cats just don't deserve forgiveness."

Frostmoon followed along, her steps heavy and her eyes staring forwards as though trying to distract herself. Lately, she had been wondering if it was worth trying to fight accepting that Ghostscreech would probably be better off with a different cat at his side. She was awkward and could hardly hold a fun conversation with clanmates. She tried so hard to be as straight laced a Warrior as she could. Her mother was such a respected cat, her father just as much, she always felt like she hadn't made them proud, and the thought of that always pushed doubt into herself. She took a deep breath, not sure what to do or think. "If we do, I'll be the first to tell them they stink." Autumnfall huffed, before she gave a thoughtful hum. "You know. I wonder if we'll get a chance to snag the rocks back soon. Earthstar's surely getting too heavy to climb them anyway, may as well hand them over." She half-joked, not noticing Frostmoon's light tensing of her shoulders. "Alright!" Dawnpaw called back, squaring his shoulders as he gave an excited and determined breath. He lunged forwards, jumping off the rock, but with far too much eagerness. He sailed too far to the side, landing on nothing but the ground with a thump of his paws and a noise of effort from the firm landing. He stood and shook his pelt, embarrassed. "Oops..." Mothsong had her back to most of the camp, sitting in a corner of the camp where a few of the small willow trees extended their long branches more and more every year. Leafbare had stripped them of their leaves, leaving empty strands of branches that swayed dimly in the cold wind. At one point, she remembered them blooming from the ashes of the fire, one or two of them surviving the flames and managing to live again. She remembered Willowpaw's excitement when he saw them, even after the fire had blazed through. Willowpaw's hope and excitement simply at seeing life had cracked through Mothsong's jagged shell, and for the first time in a long time she had a reason to feel proud of being a Thunderclan Warrior again. Willowpaw was gone now, and the leaves on the willow trees were gone too. This time, Mothsong didn't feel angry. She felt sad, and alone, and wished she could have seen things the way he did, been a more fun and more adventurous mentor, just for him. She curled her tail around herself and hunched her shoulders.

They can eat a squirrel with me if they want." She teased. "You're right. Some cats don't. But we tried, and that's what matters, and we did better than they ever could." Yarrowcloud nodded, knowing that talking too much about it would put them both in a dark place. So, he opted to cheer up the mood again, and nudged her softly. "Want to go for a walk? I could watch you hunt, live vicariously through you." He teased.

(Yee, I’ll do some starters) Dapplenight was shivering in the cold, his more frail demeanor never particularly helpful against cold winds. He did not complain though, not wanting to look like a shaking leaf to all his clanmates. He quietly worked some bracken into the camp walls. Peachdapple padded into camp, knowing that Ghostscreech would report the successful patrol to Skyclan. She veered towards the Medicine Den, addressing Aspenfall with a content purr. “Looks like Skyclan’s accepted the deal. We won’t have to let our overstored herbs go to waste.”

Plumfur returned from a hunting patrol with a small mouse in her jaws. It wasn't much, but she found herself appreciating it since it was the middle of Leafbare. She spotted Dapplenight near the camp walls and approached, dropping the mouse in the fresh-kill pile first. "...Working on the walls?" she quietly spoke.
Aspenfall looked up from the herbs he was sorting and looked relieved. "Does SkyClan need them?" he asked, a question that only medicine cats could get away with answering. SkyClan wouldn't openly admit weakness, but he figured Peachdapple may have seen something while in their camp.

SkyClan wouldn't openly admit weakness, but he figured Peachdapple may have seen something while in their camp. “Y-yes.” Dapplenight stammered a bit, chattering a bit from the cold before he shyly tried to stop himself from shaking. “I wanted to help out a bit, I was on the morning patrol, but I felt a bit restless after.” He greeted Plumfur with a kind smile. “Skyclan wants them enough to warrant an agreement, so I’d assume so.” Peachdapple answered, though she felt a flicker of optimism in her at how well it had all gone. “If I can get even just a bit of that milkweed from them in an exchange or two, that would be perfect. There’s no better herb for burns and skin irritation.” She inspected the stores, speaking as she padded around. “Skyclan will have the easiest access to Catmint too, that tends to grow near twoleg nests. Seeing as Riverclan has cut off our access to Sunningrock’s Chickweed stores, getting Catmint through there and sharing it with Skyclan is the best option we have for leafbare. I’d rather both our clans be rewarded if we work together.”

Plumfur took a quick look at the bracken walls. It looked like Dapplenight had been working on them since she had left on the hunting patrol. Noticing his shaking, she fluffed out her fur and brushed against him. "Would you be willing to take a break and share some prey?" she asked, feeling slightly hungry after the hunt.
Aspenfall nodded in approval. If the two Clans cooperated peacefully, they could account for the herbs missing in their respective territories. "I hope we won't need that much catmint. It's always a blessing when cats stay healthy in leafbare." he commented.

The thought of sharing prey and resting with her sounded far better than freezing out in the cold. “Of course. The hope is to keep it this way. The less we need, the better we can support without ridding the whole stores.” Peachdapple agreed.

Shadowblossom nodded, getting onto her feet. "Sure, prey has been scarce so I don't know how successful my hunt will be, but maybe we can bring a good meal to the happy couple." Shadowblossom looked over her shoulder at Midnightstream and Darktail, the mischievous look returning in her eye.

She pressed close to Darktail again and laughed gently, but sheepishly too. “So… I mean, I guess this is what mates do?” Yarrowcloud limped leisurely at Shadowblossom’s side, enjoying the cool air that whispered past his thick pelt. “Maybe we can flush out a hidden mouse nest. But I’d be fine just enjoying the day with you. We can go to our favorite stream.”

Shadowblossom shook out her pelt as they walked, glad Yarrowcloud had gotten that pesky thorn out of it earlier on. "Perhaps. Mice seem to be the only thing hanging around still. I don't think the stream has frozen over yet but it's getting close. I saw some ice floating down it a couple of sunrises ago."

Skyclan said yes, which is good! But, it’ll be odd passing through with them.” “If it was warmer, I’d try to swim in the water to take some pressure off this.” Yarrowcloud moved his limp hind leg with a small chuckle. “But, if it starts getting frozen, we best not dip our paws in.”

“Sunningrocks might have to wait.” Ghostscreech said over his shoulder, “At least until we gain our strength back. A fight in leafbare won’t do us any good.” He added, slowing as the neared the border. (We can continue on the border page if you would like.)
Sunthroat’s whiskers twitched in amusement as Dawnpaw shook his fur out, “That’s alright. This isn’t something one can get on their first try.” He said, “Come on, let’s go again. Focus on where you want to land, don’t lose sight of it.”
Owlfrost spotted Mothsong under the willow branches and huffed a sigh. The normally fierce she-cat had been acting differently since Shadeclaw’s deception, but even more gloomy since Willowpaw had passed. He moved towards her, his ear flicking as he wondered why he cared about Mothsong acting this way. “What are you doing hiding back here?” He asked, stopping as he reached her.

Shadowblossom snorted, shaking her head in amusement. "No I wouldn't recommend going swimming in the middle of leafbare. But I'm sure come newleaf when the water is a little cool still but not ice cold it will feel great. I wouldn't mind going for a little dip either. How has your leg been? Is it really bothering you?" she asked, looking at him with concern.

The older she-cat looked at Frostmoon, suddenly seeming to burst with realization. A hint of sympathy filled her eyes, but it was soon covered by an awkwardness as she then looked at Ghostscreech. “Right.” Dawnpaw nodded quickly, determined this time to get the motions right. He bunched his muscles and leaped again, timing his spring better and this time managing to land on Sunthroat’s shoulders, albeit a bit wobbly. Mothsong lifted her head as Owlfrost approached. She turned her head slightly to face him, before she turned back to look at the willow trees again. “Willowpaw used to sit here before training and watch the willow branches sway. I always thought it was pretty pointless, but then he told me that he liked the way he could reach up and catch them. He liked the way they just… existed.” She suddenly reached one of her paws up to grasp at a leafless swaying branch. “He was such a good, happy apprentice. He worked hard, did everything right, always woke up on time, and yet he still was able to see the bright side of everything. A cat like him… stuck with a cat like me.” She rasped, quiet and stony, before she shook her head. “He took the anger out of me, and now that he’s gone, I just don’t have any left in me to feel at all. I just feel… tired.” She turned away a bit, almost ashamed to admit such a vulnerable thing to a cat she knew she was once so harsh towards.

I couldn’t imagine having to ask Shadowclan or Riverclan for help without feeling like I had to pull out one of my whiskers.” Midnightstream snorted, her voice filled with grimace at the thought, before she huffed. “Let’s hope Spiritstar’s honor lives up to her reputation.” “Leg’s as fine as it can be. Doesn’t hurt, I can’t feel the limp part at all.” Yarrowcloud assured with a gentle look, pulling up his leg to hold up the limp lower leg and paw, the scars of where Ringo had bit clean through the tendon still clearly visible. “Better the end of my leg than my neck or my throat. That’s another thing I look forward too when we get super old and join Starclan. I can run through the forest and race you again.” He mused.
