heeyyy! it has been way too long since I've seen an actual HTTYD rp, so I figured I ought to make one myself! if it gets very far I might make it more official, but for now I'm just sticking with a jump in c: anybody and everybody is welcome and theres no limit to how many people join
all forum rules apply! no god-modding, power-playing or spottlighting, please! exotic colors with dragons is fine by me, but try to keep it to a minimum with actual humans be respectful and don't roleplay others' characters for them it'd be great if you could post more than just one liners and be literate ^^
this will be taking place after the second movie!
you don't have to make a character form, just bounce right on in anybody up for it?~

pffft terribly sorry for how rusty I am, also getting a bit tired)
The tall redhead, Andrew, was walking through the small town of berk with his nose in a book as he made a bee-line for the blacksmiths. Around his shoulders and resting just above his hip was a leather satchel, a few supplies for his journey of the day stuffed inside. For the past week he had been very intent on finally catching his own dragon and had been working very hard to prepare himself, reading as many books as he could get his hands on and making a great effort to get himself fit. So far it had been working quite well, although he still had failed in winning the trust of a dragon and earning its companionship. His eyes flickered over the pictures in his book, the Book Of Dragons, and he was so distracted that he couldn't even be bothered trying not to bump into anyone else walking down the broad path.

It just so happened to be Andrew's lucky day. If by 'lucky' you meant 'unfortunate'. And by 'unfortunate' you meant, 'bumping into a thin boned lady who barely stood above the height of five foot'. In that case, Andrew was very lucky indeed. Alice was not a tall girl. Which made it all the more frustrating when a tall young teen, such as Andrew, had accidentally walked right into her, resulting in the black-haired lady bouncing off from the impact and falling backwards onto her rump. It wasn't pleasant in the slightest. "Andrew!" The name exploded from her the moment she revived from the brief fall. She stared upwards at the boy that towered over her, her vision slightly blinded by not just the sun, but also the strings of hair that had drifted apart from her carefully tucked up bun to rest in front of her eyes.

Bumping into Alice had very nearly knocked the book out of his hands and he quickly fumbled to catch it, then clutched it to his chest once he had finally got a grip on it. Since he was so much taller than her, the impact hadn't effected him to much and he just had to take a step back to properly stabilize himself again. His pale blue eyes quickly darted down to the young woman before him, seeming lost for a moment before realization dawned on him. "Oh! Ah, shoot... sorry, Alice... wasn't watching where I was going, again..." he said, frowning apologetically. He quickly stashed his book into his satchel then leaned over her, scooping her up and setting her back on her feet, then proceeding to help dust her off in hopes of making up for any harm he'd caused. "Are you alright?"

"No. No, I am not alright. I don't suppose you realise it might hurt if you walked right into someone like they're not even there." Yet again arrived the unneeded, prickly aggressiveness of the short lady. Clearly her anger compensated for her height. Huffing, she retreated a step from the giant loon to avoid his hands and proceeded to do the rest of the work herself. Her thin fingers delicately brushed away the leftover dirt and once she finished, she relaxed her posture and lowered her hands away. There we go, perfect once more. But alas, she wasn't done with Andrew. Too many times had she had- quite literally- fallen victim to having Andrew walk into her. She had a bone to pick, and she wasn't about to back down. "Don't you ever think to look up for once? You've always got your nose in that book- well, I can't blame you for wanting to read, but out in the open? While you're walking around? It's ridiculous!"
(GTG THE INTERNET STOPPED WORKING EHH)

poor internet but yehh, I better get going as well! have a goodnight~)
Andrew simply stared at her with a still apologetic expression, though it had softened as he stood there and patiently took her scolding. Once she had finally finished, he launched into an explanation without hesitating. "Well, y'see, I was heading to the blacksmiths to pick up a few things before I headed out into the forest again, and I wanted to catch up on a bit of reading before I left, so, eh... reading on the way seemed like the best option... and I didn't think anybody would just walk out in front of me..." he trailed off, finding her agitated expression to be quite unnerving. "...Sorry... I don't suppose theres any way I could make it up to you?..." he asked, lifting his eyebrows at her hopefully and shifting the heavy satchel around to his other side, lightly gripping the leather strap as he stood in front of her, wondering to himself what he could do to make it up to the short girl.

Avenrose sat on the steps outside of the great hall, scribbling quickly into her journal. As much as she loved the book of dragons, she preferred her own personal journal on them, which included not just facts on the dragons but also her personal experiences with them. Curled at her side was her first dragon, the small orange terrible terror by the name of Firestorm.

agghh, sorry for vanishing again)
As he stood there waiting for Alice to answer, the tall males attention began to drift until he spotted Avenrose in the distance, sitting outside the the great hall. His interest perked immediately when he saw she had a book in her lap and her dragon beside her. "...Um... Hold that thought, I've gotta do something before I loose the chance," he said, breaking away from the shorter girl beside him and jogging up the road. "Hey!" he called softly, trying to catch Avenrose's attention.

Avenrose looked up from her journal when she heard someone call. "Oh, hey," she greeted, snapping the journal shut. At the snap, the little dragon woke, making a small noise before quickly twisting around and latching onto Ave's back. Ignoring the dragon, Ave slipped the journal away and peered up at Andrew as he approached.

"You've been around dragons quite a few times, haven't you? Would you mind helping me?" Andrew asked hopefully. "I've been studying and going out for the past month, but I can't seem to get a dragon within arms reach without it trying to bite or roast me," he admitted with a small sheepish smile. It was truly very awkward, having been trying so hard and to no success. Especially when he was doing everything just as the book advised. Realizing he looked a bit ruffled, he quickly straightened his back and ran his fingers through his hair a few times to calm it down. Although, even after doing so it remained messy and disheveled.

Ace rose let out a little laugh. "Yeah, of course I can help you," she replied with a smile. "The book can only take you so far." She pushed herself to her feet, though she was still looking up at Andrew. "Is there anywhere you want to start?" She was rarely asked to do anything, and was thrilled to help him with dragons. She knew a lot, not just from reading the book, and took every chance to use what she knew.

Relief flooded him when she agreed and Andrew's shoulders slumped, a cheerful, lopsided grin taking over his features. "Ah, thank you ever so much," he said, letting out a small sigh. "Well, wherever you think is best. I haven't had much luck anywhere, so it doesn't matter to me." He already was quite excited, feeling more hopeful than he had in days now that he had someone with more experience helping him. "Although, if you have any idea where there might be Changewings I would very much like to try and befriend one if possible," he added.

Avenrose stared at him in shock. "You want to befriend a changewing?" She asked, eyes wide in surprise. "You do know that they are highly territorial, spit acid, go invisible, and are extremely aggressive. Not to mention they hunt in packs." She pushed a few loose strands of her hair out of her face with a sigh. "Well, it's your choice. If you want to die I won't stop you."

Andrew grinned at her, sheepishly at first and then with amusement. "They're just so fascinating! Even if I can't befriend one I would love to at least try and spot one," he said, eyes lit with determination. "You don't have to come with me to get near one if you don't want to, just show me where they are, help me figure out the best way to not get my arm burned off, and then I can do the rest! ...Probably."

Avenrose shook her head. "Whatever. Anyways, they aren't that hard to find. We just need to go to Changewing island, the place is full of them. Of course, seeing them is the hard part." She shouldered her bag, and pulled the small dragon off of her back. "Let's get going so we don't get there after dark."

"Alright! Do you wanna go by boat or do you have a dragon that can fly us there?" Andrew asked. His eyes drifted over to the terrible terror in her arms and he blinked slowly, then smiled at the little reptile. It was quite cute, though he doubted it could lift anyone on its own.

"Of course I have a dragon. How else would I explore other islands quickly?" Avenrose replied. She may be smaller than average with a more petite body, but she was tougher than she seemed. Tough enough that the first dragon she had ever trained was none other than a monstrous nightmare by the name of Inferno.

The excited grin returned to Andrews features and he chuckled softly. "Right, right. I knew that, pffft~" he said smoothly. He fixed the strap of his bag over his shoulder, then straightened with a determined expression. "Alright, ready! Lead the way!"

Ashton heard the two conversing as he walked by, and looked towrds them. He started to wander over, a bit shyly. His hazel eyes sparkled in interest though, as he heard 'changewing island'. He brushed his chocolate brown hair out of his eyes, "Uhm, sorry if im bothering you guys but uh, did you perhaps say you're going to changewing island?". Ashton had always wanted to go to changewing island, but had never been brave enough to go on his own, and he didn't exactly have any friends to go with him. He didn't have a dragon to ride either, so the chances of him going there and never coming back was very likely.

Avenrose turned as another person joined their conversation. "Yeah, we're going to changewing island," she replied. "I guess you could come along." Another person coming for a ride, perfect. Good thing she rode a nightmare, or there would be a problem. "I have to go get Inferno," she said. "Excuse me." Tucking Firestorm under her arm, she started off to grab her other dragon.

"Eheh, thank you.." he murmured, and could feel himself slowly getting more nervous and jittery by the second. He wondered what dragon the girl had, and had to sit down. Could he finally get a dragon? Or was it this other boys destiny? He didn't know anymore, after all this was his second year searching for a dragon.
