In Andrew's eyes, the more the merrier. Extra hands were always useful, and the company was certainly pleasant. And it would be great if this fellow could get himself a dragon as well. Despite this thought though, the redhead couldn't help but feel a bit competitive. He reminded himself to be considerate and breathed out softly, watching Ave go off to get her dragon. His attention turned down to the brunet beside him and he offered a friendly smile. "'S alright, I'm sure everything will be fine," he said, hoping to ease a bit of his obvious anxiety.

Avenrose made her way quickly to the stables where the dragons stayed. She let her dragon go where he wanted, and when he wasn't following her he was usually sleeping or eating here. Stepping in, she called, "Inferno! Come on, we're heading out!" It wasn't long until the monstrous nightmare was making his way to her. Inferno was yellow. with orange designs. He lifted his head, looking down on his rider. "Let's go," Avenrose said, and Inferno complied, bending his head back down so she could grab his horns and swing herself onto his neck, before they took off, leaving the stables before Inferno took to the air.

"I know..its just the idea of finally making a bond with a dragon. I've tried almost all of them..exept the changewing, hobblegrunt, and Sand wraith.." he said, and put his head in his hands. Ashton looked back up to the other boy, blinking a few times. His freckles dotted his cheeks, and nose. It made him appear younger then he really was, but mostly it was because of his shorter stature. "Uhm, I didn't get your name- but i'm Ashton."

"Keep your chin up, I'm sure you can do it!" Andrew encouraged. "The hobblegrunts are quite nice, I haven't managed to get one to come near me though," he admitted sheepishly. Their color changing abilities had always seemed incredible to him. "Oh, I'm Andrew. Its nice to meet you," he said, seating himself on a nearby stump and setting his bag down, sighing softly with relief as the weight of many books was lifted off his back.

At that moment, Avenrose and her dragon circled overhead before diving down. Inferno spread his wings, the nightmare landing lightly on the ground. "Ready to go?" She asked, leaning casually between the horns. She looked even smaller compared to the big dragon, but looked like she was meant to be there.

Ashton reached to his side and pulled a book out of his small side pouch attached to his belt. A charcoal pencil tumbles out from the book as he opens it. Drawing of dragons filled it, their anatomy, the way they flew, how they breathed fire, and so on filled the pages. He flipped to the most recently used page, where a picture of a changewing gazed into some other beyond. He ran his fingers through his hair and glanced at Andrew. He was jealous already, he could tell, Andrew was fit for dragon riding, he'd probably get his dragon today..But no matter, if it was Ashton's time to get his dragon, he would. If it wasn't- oh well.

He looked up to the girl, and her monsterous nightmare. He smiled a bit. "Uhm, yeah eheh" Ashton said, but he was still nervous. He'd never rode a dragon before, let alone fly on one.

Andrew looked up again suddenly when a large nightmare landed beside them, and for a moment he could only stare in awe, easily impressed by how well Ave and Inferno seemed to fit together. His lips twitched into a grin and he hopped up, snatching his back and slinging it over his shoulders while giving a firm nod. "As ever!" he said confidently. He walked over to the nightmare and looked over him slowly, a bit hesitant as if concerned just touching him in the wrong way would be doom for them all. "Very nice scale patterns," he chuckled nervously. He slowly took a seat a few spaces back from Ave, leaving room for Ashton in front of him. "Wow..." he breathed softly to himself, feeling his heart flutter. It had been a while since he had actually gotten to ride a dragon, and he had only done so once before.

Ashton laughed nervously, before inching his way over to the dragon. He gently ran his fingers over the creatures scales, amazed on their beauty. He quickly lifted himself up into the saddle in front of Andrew, and he could feel his breath brush the back of his neck, making him shiver. Ashton blushed being so close to two people at once, and he wanted to shy away.

"Hold on," Avenrose warned, holding Inferno's horns. "Lets go!" With a jerk, the dragon reared his head, before spreading his wings and pushing himself off the ground, taking flight. Steering the dragon in the air, She turned them so that they were heading to Changewing island.

The boy let out a yelp and grabbed onto the girls waist hurriedly. Ashton blushed and let go once they leveled out, and he laughed a bit. "uhm. sorry.." he murmured, and just kept his hands close to his chest, glancing around. It was beautiful, and his eyes practically popped out of his head at how high they had come up. He reached for something to stabilize himself with, and his hands landed on Andrew's legs. Ashton didn't realize this though, petrified.

The sudden movement as the dragon pushed itself into the air was horrifying and exhilarating and caused a large group of butterflies to spring up into his stomach. Andrew found himself gripping tightly onto the spike just behind him and gripping the saddle with his legs, feeling the breath leave his lungs. As the movements smoothed out though he relaxed, breathing hard and grinning from ear to ear. He hadn't even noticed that Ashton was clinging on to him for dear life, having been too distracted with the sudden rush of adrenaline.b

"I told you to hold on," Avenrose laughed. She loved everything about flying and was experienced. She loved the wind in her face, and never minded the chill the air had, though it didn't effect her much. Her dragon had a lot of fire power, along with the capability to catch himself on fire.

"I'm not complaining, this is incredible!" Andrew said over a laugh. He gripped the spike a bit harder just to be sure, then leaned to the side just enough to look down, a lump of fear and panic forming in his throat. And yet, he couldn't help but feel like he was having the time of his life. "I've never been this high up before... how long did it take you to get used to it?"

"Not long," Avenrose admitted. "I'm used to heights. The thing I really needed to get used to was flying a dragon and learning how to understand him. That took some time, but it was fun." She smiled, remembering her first flight with her dragon. They had actually crashed, but that was some time ago. Now they were a lot better.

Andrew was surprised to realize he hadn't thought of that. Dragons weren't just machines built to carry you, they actually required communication and a proper relationship. His entire mindset changed right then and he blinked slowly, baffled. "Huh... Is it hard understanding him and working together? Whats it like?" he asked, suddenly even more curious than he had been.

"Its not hard," Avenrose replied. "It's just working with your best friend. I listen to him just as much as he listens to me. If we don't or if one of us is more controlling, we will crash. The first thing you learn in dragon training is that everything is about trust. As long as you trust your dragon, everything is simple."

"Thats incredible," Andrew said slowly, turning his attention to the dragon carrying them and looking even more impressed. "I can't wait to try and establish that kind of bond... it sounds like an incredible experience," he mused, turning his attention upward again and looking out across the ocean. He leaned to the side a bit, looking around the two in front of him to see if they were nearing the island.

"It is," Avenrose replied. "Oh, good, looks like we made it." She had the dragon fly a little over the island before landing in a clearer area. She dropped off of Inferno to help the others down.

Andrew hopped down after her, stumbling a bit as he hit the ground then straightening himself and reaching his arms up in a stretch. "That was actually very pleasant, I can't imagine why people say riding a dragon is frightening, other than the height," he drawled, stretching his legs now.

"Well, I was being nice and not flying the usual way I fly," Avenrose replied, leaning back on Inferno. "So, what are you planning on doing now that you are here?"

At her response, his eyebrows twitched and for a moment he looked very concerned, wondering to himself what the usual way she flew felt like. "...Uh huh... anyways..." He coughed into his fist to clear his throat, then straightened up with another excited grin. "Well, now I have to find one and see if I can earn its respect and trust! And then if I can't then I'll keep trying somewhere else," he said. "Whats the best way to get a changewing to like you?"

Avenrose let out a laugh. "Well, if anyone knew that, we would be flying them," She replied. "But I do have a few tips. Watch your back. They are rarely alone, and usually have three in a group. They spit acid, and you won't see them until after they attack. Oh, and don't touch any rainbow glowing rocks. Those would be their eggs, and we've had problems with other riders bringing them back. It wasn't long until the Changewing mothers appeared."

As Avenrose mentioned the eggs, Ashton lifted his had away from the rock- er, egg, in front of him, as he had gone to pick it up. He walked around nervously, constantly looking around for any sudden movement. There was nothing yet, but he wondered if the changewings were watching them. Ashton drifted slowly away from the other two, looking at the sand. It was a nice, peaceful day. That could, and probably would change any second. Something shifted on the ground in the corner of his eye, but when he looked to that direction, nothing was there. Probably nothing, my mind is very paranoid right now anyways. But he couldn't help wonder if there was a changewing right there.

"Oh. Right. Pfft, obviously." Andrew tapped his foot thoughtfully as he listened to her, taking mental notes. All of this was good to know, perhaps it would allow him to actually get close. He hoped so. "Alright, I think I got it; watch my back, mind the acid flying out of nowhere and whatever follows, and don't touch the glowing rocks. Is that all?" he checked, looking back at her with a stroke of determination.

"Yep," Avenrose replied. "Oh, and one last thing. When training a dragon, only approach it if completely necessary. Otherwise, let it approach you. Don't try to touch it first. Put out your hand, and if it decides it trusts you the dragon will press against it." She shrugged. "I think that's about it."

A look of startled realization crossed Andrew's features and he paused for a moment, then snorted and chuckled to himself. "I think that may have been my problem... I thought you were supposed to try and get yourself closer to the dragon. Alright, I'm pretty sure that I understand now," he said, feeling as if all of his failed attempts suddenly made sense.

"Good," Avenrose said, smiling. "You might want to get going then. You're not going to find a dragon when you're just sitting around." She leaned back. "I'll be right here, unless I get attacked."

"Yeah, yeah, I'm goin'," Andrew said, waving a hand at her and starting to walk away. "If you hear screaming then, uh... please come to find me, and if I'm not there then well, tell my sister I stole her book," he added over his shoulder, grinning crookedly. Then with that, he broke into a sprint and ran off into the forest.
