Kana sat alone outside of the base. In her lap was her scythe in it's active form. The blade had started to become blunt, so the young 14-year-old was sharpening it. It was to be noticed that as she did, everyone who noticed her stayed even farther away than normal, some revolutionaries even stepped outside only to turn around and return back in. The medic's reputation was not a good one. She didn't even have a bounty, as any marine coming across her thought of her only as a low medic, not worth their time. The ones that found out that she was dangerous didn't survive to warn the others. Not that Kana remembered. Her memory of fights was spotty due to her episodes.

Being a new person to the Revolutionary Army, Nakazo thought it best to keep his distance and let people warm up to him. He figured it was hard for them to trust him considering he used to be a Marine. He noticed that there was a little girl sitting with a scythe alone so he figured that he would go over and talk to her, figuring that she was lonely. He missed some of the stares that he was getting, some of which were probably trying to tell him that he was making a big mistake. Nakazo walked up to Kana's table and asked "Is this seat taken?" As he pointed at a chair across from her

"No." The reply was quiet but blunt, Kana not even looking up from what she was doing as she spoke. She continued running the stone across the blade, the sound drawn out. Finally, the girl pulled her gaze from her weapon long enough for her red eyes to take in the person before her. Newby. Easy enough to tell, no one else would even think of approaching her, which was perfectly okay in her book. She disliked interactions.

Nakazo nodded before sitting down. He wondered why everyone was keeping their distance from her, I mean she was just a kid after all, what harm could she possibly do. "My name is Nakazo Kurana. May I ask for your name?" He asked

"Kana." She replied looking up, her eyes meeting his. Silence followed for just a moment, as the air became tense. "You are a marine." It wasn't a question. She had stopped working on her scythe, the stone frozen mid-slide. Her grip did not tighten or loosen on her weapon, but the air became even more tense.

Nakazo sighed as he leaned back in his chair and looked up at the ceiling "It's a pleasure to meet you" he said "As a matter of fact, yes, I was a Marine. Emphasis on was. Kind of hard to still be one after they ordered my own father's death and covered it up. My father was an innocent man and was the one that taught me my skills. I was pretty upset about it and went around destroying Navy bases. Now tell me, does that make me a Marine still?"

"How many people did you kill while with the marines?" Kana answered the question with one of her own. The girl who had been broken by the corruption of marines was not one to simply accept an ally that was once one of the people she has sworn to destroy.

Nakazo closed his eyes for a moment before letting out a sigh "Too many to count" he said "There's no excuse for that, I know. Of course I'm including the Marines I killed when I was still a Marine after destroying those bases but pirates were the only other people I killed. I never touched an innocent person if that's what you're asking though. Though I can't say the same goes for my team"

"Pirates can be innocent," Kana replied coldly. "So how can you know you didn't kill an innocent? You marines think everyone who calls themselves a pirate or revolutionary is guilty." Of course, at this point Kana had remembered the pirate who was framed for the death of her grandparents, the marines, and even herself. The pirate was executed even though he was innocent of the charges, making the marines that died look like heroes who tried to protect the civilians. Not that he would know anything about that, the marines covered up the incident from seven years ago really well. Probably only a select few knew that the dead marines were the guilty ones.

"Well the ones that me and my team killed we're ones ordered by the World Government and sometimes we even thought it was necessary, to kill ones who would upset this world's stability. I was actually a part of CP9. If I was a normal Marine, I'd probably have been a Vice-Admiral or Admiral to be honest" Nakazo said "the only people I ever killed personally were people who had done many things wrong. Usually they had committed mass murder or were running illegal trades though"

"And the World Government is always right," Kana replied. Her tone has started to have a dangerous touch of anger. Sensing this herself, she closed her eyes, opening them again and turning her attention back to sharpening her scythe to calm herself down. She didn't feel like blacking out here, so she forced herself to keep calm and focus on something, anything, that wasn't the conversation. She didn't care for her blackouts, as the loss of memory was annoying.

"You're right they aren't always right. That's why I left. I was disgusted with not only the World Government but also myself for what I've done and what I had become. There's no way that I can make amends for what I've done but I think joining the Revolutionary army would be the best first step to help put me on the right path again" Nakazo said

"You're right." Kana stated. "You can't make amends." She stopped sharpening her scythe. Standing, she spun it around expertly and sliced into the ground with it, testing the sharpness. Satisfied, she pulled the scythe out of the ground, returning it to its dormant state as a short pole and sheathing it.

"You seem to hate the Marines and I'm guessing for a good reason but not all Marines are bad you know. It's usually the ones that give out orders that are the bad ones." Nakazo said as he noticed that Kana had put her scythe to the side "That's a nice weapon you got there. Looks expertly crafted and it looks like you take good care of it" Nakazo said "It's good to see people not treating weapons just as tools for once"

Kana didn't reply. To her, all marines needed to be ended. A marine that was 'good' still followed the orders of those corrupt without question. That made them as guilty as their commanders. As for her scythe, she shrugged. She came across it one day, and kept it ever since. She didn't know who crafted it, but it fit her well enough that she decided to keep it. Not that she used it consciously. She preferred using her kodachi, but she seemed to pull out her scythe during episodes.

Nakazo sighed "You're not one for conversation are you? Is that why everyone keeps their distance from you? Because you don't talk much?" He asked "Not that I'm complaining, last group I sat with as soon as they found out I used to be a part of CP9 they drenched me with their drinks and started yelling obscenities at me"

Kana looked at him. He really didn't have any idea. "That is not why everyone keeps their distance from me." She told him, eyes still cold and full of disdain. "They keep their distance so they don't die." It was a simple answer to a simple question.

"Why would they die? I don't think you look like someone that has it in them to kill. Plus you're only a kid." Nakazo said as he rested one of his arms on his swords

Kana didn't answer. It was too hard to explain. She shrugged again, the young girl not even bothering to try. And anyways, just because she was young didn't mean she couldn't kill someone. She's been here for years now, plus she was only seven when she first killed a marine. Or, well, marines.
