Breezepaw looked back at his mentor, "Please Dashclaw? Think of the elders and kits. Fallowmeadow will have her kits any day now. We need the prey."

Eelshock spoke quickly after Fluffcloud. "Fluffcloud and I want to see peace amongst the Clans. We've offered prey to ThunderClan as well. It makes no sense to us as to why we have to fight over every scrap of territory when there's plenty of prey to go around as long as we work together." Dashclaw shifted uneasily. "That's a...different viewpoint most cats wouldn't have. What does Earthstar think about your...generosity?" Fluffcloud seemed to give a slightly somber look. “Earthstar has done great things for Riverclan. He has always been fair and dependable… but he, and all of our leaders right now, are bound tighter to tradition than they are to action. Even if Earthstar wanted to be generous, recall the gathering. How that went. Would another leader accept something like this even if it meant putting aside their pride? And now, Shadowclan is down a Medicine Cat. Skyclan has lost a capable Warrior. And now, Windclan has lost their own and are suffering unjustly. How can Eelshock and I possibly sit and watch? How can any good-hearted Warrior?” She shook her head softly. “That’s why it needs to be a secret. One day, hopefully, it won’t have to be. We don’t want recognition. We just want to help.” Hearing Breezepaw’s plea, Fluffcloud inwardly praised the young tom’s logic. Perhaps, Breezepaw could one day help to unite the Clans too.

Dashclaw glanced uncertainly at Breezepaw, but he listened to Fluffcloud's words. She claimed the leaders were sticking too tightly to tradition. But Swiftstar isn't, Dashclaw raked his claws in the dirt. Swiftstar was allowing Cobblepaw to train as both a tunneler and moor-runner. He was loosening the ties of tradition in WindClan. Perhaps Swiftstar would be loose about accepting prey from the other Clans too? I need to make up for what I said in camp, he eyed the fish and water vole at the paws of the RiverClan cats. Perhaps bringing that prey would help the Clan forgive a failure like him?
"Alright," Dashclaw relented with a little defeat in his tone. "We'll accept your prey, and we won't tell anyone of what you're doing." It would be nice if WindClan got some help. After that storm...after loosing good warriors and the prey shortage, couldn't they be owed a little help? "Thank you."
Eelshock blinked, pleased with Dashclaw's agreement. His lips curled at the thought of getting a senior warrior of WindClan on their side. Perhaps he should speak with Dashclaw more at gatherings when they went.

Content with Dashclaw’s acceptance, Fluffcloud pushed her water vole over beside Eelshock’s fish, and mewed. “Put your teeth where Eelshock’s were and say that it washed up on the ravine on your side of the border. The water voles also are common at this gorge, they hide in rock piles near the water. In fact, you might find that fish do wash up, free for the grabbing, during floods. You don’t even have to fish them. But, if this is acceptable… we wouldn’t mind dropping off extra prey here, if you can remember this spot and are willing to take it before the birds do.” Fluffcloud instructed, hoping Breezepaw could be praised for seeming to have caught prey too. That would be good, for the kind young apprentice.

Breezepaw dipped his head to the Riverclan warriors, looking at them with amazement as he padded forward to accept the water vole. "Thank you. This will help us greatly." he murmured quietly.

Dashclaw flicked his ear and stared at the pieces of prey. With a sigh, he padded forward. "Thank you for letting us know about the possible fish around here." He picked up the fish where Eelshock had bitten into it. With a glance at Breezepaw he flicked his tail for the two of them to head back to camp. He may not have wanted to be in camp, but he was eager to get away from these strange RiverClan warriors.

“It was our pleasure.” Fluffcloud mewed kindly to Breezepaw, hoping to see him again in their future Clan. For now, she was content knowing that it worked! Looking brightly at Eelshock, she only felt more warmth for him once again. He really was the perfect cat to have at her side, the one who understood her best. She brushed her muzzle warmly to his. “I wouldn’t be half the cat I was without you, you know.”

Eelshock purred happily when she brushed against him. He stood taller. "We make each other better," he smiled. "And together we'll make the whole forest better." Fluffcloud nodded quickly, before she decided. “I want that apprentice, Breezepaw, I want him to be given a chance to be enlightened. Maybe I can see if Fallenlight or another Windclan mentor can guide him. With how pained Dashclaw looked, maybe his mind would be open as well. I can tell that Starclan has forsaken Windclan today. With no floods and Windclan being used to wind, how could a rainstorm have killed multiple Warriors? Surely it had to be unjust deaths.” Fluffcloud murmured to her mate, eyes glinting with displeasure at the suffering Windclan was going through. “Together, we can do anything. We just have to keep getting more cats to understand.”

Eelshock nodded. "That's a good idea. Breezepaw deserve the opportunity to learn so much more than what is being offered him. I think I can get Dashclaw on our side if I could talk to him more."

Splashstone seemed to droop a bit at Mistyberry’s words. He was surprised at how much he didn’t want her to leave. This was the happiest he had been in a very long time. He sighed. “Yeah… I guess that’s fair. It’s not like we can spend all day out here. But…” He looked at her with a hint of hope. “Maybe we can do this again?” ”I would like that.” Mistyberry mewed with a nod of her head, “Besides, you’re gonna need more than one lesson before you become an expert swimmer.” She added with a teasing smile. “We can meet here another time if you would like, maybe in a day or two.”

River: Skystorm led Petalcreek and Stonegaze toward sunningrocks. He grinned when he saw how flooded the stones were. "Well Thunderclan won't be trying to take these any time soon that's for sure." Icefire15 MoonblazerStonegaze slipped easily through the flooded banks of the river, able to see how deep it was compared to usual. Luckily, most of this water flowed down towards the territories beyond the Clans, but the side flooding of the banks would be a pain in the tail for any Clan that wasn’t prepared for it like Riverclan was. He flicked his ear. “I can smell the scent marks, so I’ll give Thunderclan credit for being diligent.” Petalcreek eyed Sunningrocks briefly before looking back at her clanmates, “So, shall we get to work on marking the border then?” She suggested.

Skystorm hummed in agreement and padded a couple tail-lengths away to mark the border where it had faded. "If Thunderclan is being so diligent, we must be so as well. Even with the poor weather. They must be gaining strength again after the fire, we can never be too careful.'

He started up the gorge path, looking down at her every few seconds as though to capture one last sight of her silver coat.

Swanflight smiled at both Duskhawk and Earthstar’s words, flicking her tail as she nodded. “It would be pretty unfair, to expect one leader to be the exact same as another. I know I’d be hard pressed to be as calm and wise as you, Earthstar, if I was ever a leader.” —- Splashstone indeed felt himself grow tired with each passing moment. Forcing himself to pace himself, he followed her suggestion and swam back towards the shallower bank, legs aching in a good way as he stood back up. He chuckled, giving a genuinely brightened expression. “You make it look so easy! Really, I’m impressed. Thank you, for just even showing me!” Mistyberry followed after Splashstone and gave her fur a small shake to get rid of the excess water from her fur, “It’s no problem, really.” She said with a small smile and looking at him, “If anything, I should be thanking you. Talking with you really helped take my mind off of things, it was a nice change for once.” She added, glancing at the sky. How long had she been gone? Mistyberry looked back at Splashstone, not wanting to say goodbye just yet, but she knew her clanmates would worry if she was gone for a long time. “I… suppose I should be heading back now though. It was nice meeting you, Splashstone.” Duskhawk flicked his ear and glanced away at Swanflight’s smile, instead turning his attention back to the rushing river. He kept moving along, ignoring Brightrock’s teasing look. Brightrock’s whiskers twitched in amusement, but chose not to say anything about Duskhawk’s sudden shyness and looked back at Earthstar, “So, what now? If the flooding isn’t as bad as we thought, that means things should go back to normal soon, right?” He mewed. Earthstar was quiet for a moment, thinking about Swanflight's words. "Yes... right. So long as we continue to evade the Prey Maulers, we should be in good shape when the river recedes." He turned to look at the younger warrior. "I've only made it this far due to the struggles and responsibilities of protecting the Clan. Leaders like Cedarstar and Swiftstar still have many moons - entire lives - ahead of them. Leaders like Lightningstar and I... we've seen so much suffering and hardship. At some point, there's nothing you can do but bear the weight on your shoulders and continue." He took a breath. "You run out of time to panic or question your decisions. Not when the whole Clan looks to you as a steady rock in a turbulent stream." Earthstar continued, feeling a flicker of surprise at his sudden vulnerability. "There may come a time where Cedarstar grows to be as calm as wise as Northstar. But... he will likely be put to the test first." He suddenly felt weary out in the rain with the patrol. "Let's see if we can spot anything else on the way back."

She wished she was older, able to fully understand the hardships that her parents and her grandfather went through. Admittedly, she was proud to be Earthstar’s granddaughter, that she could feel comfortable speaking to him more casually than most. She followed him, glancing back at the patrol as she added. “I’m just glad that the fish can just move downstream for this flood, and come right back.”

The large white Skyclan cat was saying things that almost seemed offensive. Surely Nettlepatch would say something?

Nettlepatch stood up a bit taller as he spotted the deputy, he suddenly didn't feel very confident in leading the patrol. Perhaps Ghostscreech should have come. Nettlepatch's ears flicked nervously as he looked at Whitesun, "As well as we could be after the prey. I hope your clan is faring okay as well. We appreciate the warning you tried to send."

Jadefeather approached the Thunderclan cats with a friendly hum, standing at her mate’s shoulder as Whitesun addressed the Thunderclan cats. “A good spread of Thunderclan Warriors today. And apprentice, of course.” She looked at Ivypaw with a smile. “I don’t think I’ve met you formally yet. I’m Jadefeather. You are…” She trailed off to let Ivypaw answer.

They seemed like opposites, with Whitesun seeming reserved and Jadefeather already striking up conversations with him, a brand new apprentice of all people. Ivypaw chided himself though. He barely knew them at all, how could he know something like that?
Ivypaw looked over to Hawkpaw, waving his tail in greeting at the apprentice. She looked the opposite of her mother in a way, all dark markings where her mother had light. It was nice to see another apprentice though. "Hi," he said, then blurted, "I'm a little nervous about..." well, everything, but he got the sense he shouldn't even have said that. He ducked his head, pawing at the dirt for a moment. "It's nice to meet you all," he managed to finish.

Earthstar remarked. For everything he had gone through during his warriorhood, he was lucky to not have to deal with the fire or the Prey Maulers - yet. "And I'm starting to wonder if the other Clans have noticed. ThunderClan was devastated by the fire, and ShadowClan had to take Fourtrees..." his tail twitched in irritation at the fact that Cedarstar still hadn't returned them to neutral territory. "I'm certain this will cause some tension at the next Gathering."
