Silverfox stalked after the squirrel, dropping into a steady stance as she drew closer to the prey. She paused for a moment and eyed the squirrel briefly before darting out of cover and pouncing on it, bringing her jaws down and snapping its neck quickly.

Bluewhisker twitched an ear before melting into the undergrowth, beginning to stalk a wide arc around their quarry. She recalled the hunting methods of WindClan patrols she'd seen and heard about, cutting off the rabbit's escape route.

Snowtalon with Airhowl TheKeenGlint Snowtalon trekked on after Airhowl, his mood dampening with every step; rainy, gloomy days brought gloomy moods to the white tomcat. As they neared, the gurgling of the stream grew louder until he could see the running body of water. Its swollen, black depths hungrily whisked away anything that dared come too close.
He let out a hiss of disgust as a paw sank into the muddy ground. Flicking it away with disdain, he grumbled, "If this rain doesn't let up soon, I'll turn into a fish."

Cloudysky waited until Bluewhisker was out of sight before he dropped into his own crouch, stalking toward the rabbit slowly. His whiskers twitched with excitement as he noticed how plump the rabbit looked, he had to stop his mouth from watering just from the thought of it. He glanced back at Honeydapple, making sure she was still with him as they approached from the other side.

The onslaught of rain fell hard against Airhowl's pelt, well-nigh threatening to dilute it. Her pawsteps were punctuated by the squelch of mud against her paw pads. Yet she continued to lead the hunting patrol with her head held as high as she could, looking back to make sure Snowtalon was still keeping up. Conscious as she was of her hunting partner's seniority, to lose him due to simple negligence would never reflect well.
Airhowl had to huff at the idea of Snowtalon as a fish. Considering his large, muscular frame, whatever fish he became would dominate the stream, not only leaving no prey for RiverClan but also startling the smaller mammals SkyClan preferred. A lose-lose situation.
"Then swim," she meowed back. "Our fresh-kill pile would hardly welcome you otherwise." The stream entered her field of vision and she scanned her surroundings. "Just try to keep your eyes open for anything small enough to kill without trouble. If memory serves me, water voles frequent this part of the stream. We'll need to catch them before they cross over to RiverClan's side."

Snowtalon with Airhowl TheKeenGlint Snowtalon grumbled to himself at her response. He was not a cat too keen on being bossed around, but this was Airhowl's patrol. He may have been her senior, but she was leading this outing. He'd obey her orders. For now.
Turning tail, the white cat scented the air, but was only greeted by rain and wet earth. All the prey would be hidden away, warm and safe in their burrows. If they have any brains. Padding along the stream, Snowtalon kept his senses alert for any movement or scents of prey. At least he had the advantage of his own scent being mangled due to the rain. If he blindly came across any animal, it'd take them both by surprise. He paused as the reeds ahead of him quivered. Speaking of prey. The brown body of a vole emerged, diving from one clump of reeds to another. Trying to get to shelter. Snowtalon guessed, slinking carefully after the rodent. He launched as the vole neared the stream. He couldn't let it jump in!
He pounced, but not quick enough. As he did, the vole plopped into the stream, Snowtalon splashing, ungracefully, after it. He hissed as the icy waters grasped him, hauling himself back onto the shore. "Mouse-dung." He cursed, shooting icy daggers at the running water. (So sorry about my absence! Things should slow down some after the holiday)

Through the screen of brambles she was crouched behind, Bluewhisker could make out the shapes of Cloudysky and Honeydapple. A breeze whisked through the trees suddenly, blowing the scent of the other warriors and the rabbit towards her. The rabbit, previously unaware, shot bolt upright, eyes widening in terror at the sight of the two predators stalking it.
The rabbit tore away from them, straight towards Bluewhisker. In a flash, she exploded from the undergrowth and landed heavily on the rabbit, cutting off its squeal with a clean killing bite.

Bluewhisker stood, the rabbit secure in her jaws. She padded over to Cloudysky and Honeydapple, setting the rabbit down by her paws and nodding to the two other warriors.
"We should go back now," she said. "We have enough prey."

Silverfox made her way towards the others, the squirrel she had been stalking after in her jaws as well as the shrew she had caught earlier. “I’m ready if you all are.” She mewed.

Bluewhisker nodded, sweeping her steely gaze across the patrol. "Don't forget your fish, Sprucetail."
The thick-furred warrior began padding away from the river, back towards the ravine.

“Right!” Sprucetail called, quickly picking up his odd find, and carrying the large piece of prey in his jaws. He hoped that the Clan would be okay with trying some fish. It was practically given to him by Starclan at how easily he had found it!

Mistyberry sighed as she came to a stop near the waterfall that bordered the RiverClan and WindClan borders. It didn’t look to be too flooded, which was good. Mistyberry sometimes enjoyed coming to this spot when she needed to be alone, the rushing water often soothing whatever was troubling her. Now that she was alone, Mistyberry couldn’t help the overwhelming sense of grief that she had been holding back since the news of Specklecreek’s disappearance and assumed death. Laying down and resting her head on her paws, she stared down into the water sadly, wishing that she had been able to say goodbye to her adopted sister.

Laying down and resting her head on her paws, she stared down into the water sadly, wishing that she had been able to say goodbye to her adopted sister. Unaware of Mistyberry’s presence, Splashstone padded along the top of the gorge. Windclan’s moors stretched out from the tall ledge, whereas the border sunk down into the gorge as the river that cut through it. The waterfall rushed down below, and Splashstone found himself following the usual path down he took to get to the bottom of the gorge. He could tell the water was rushing faster than usual thanks to the rain, but he didn’t care much. Paws splashing on the bank, he trailed towards the waterfall, watching it color an inky grey from the reflection of the dark and cloudy skies. Looking down at the water, he imagined himself swimming everyday as a Riverclan cat. Could he do that?

Mistyberry’s head shot up when she heard the sound of pawsteps and stood up, her fur bristling lightly. Could it be prey-maulers? No, it sounded too light to be something as big as the ShadowClan cats had described, “Who’s there?” She said sharply, her eyes scanning for any movement. Mistyberry had never come across anyone else in the times that she had come to this place before. She lifted her nose and scented the air, getting a strong WindClan scent nearby.

Stormsplash stopped in his tracks, water rushing over his paws as he ignored the cold chill in the air. If anything, the cold air felt good, numbed his body and distracted him from the knot in his throat. He looked over the Riverclan border, blinking in faint surprise as he saw the shape of a rather pretty silver cat with darker markings. He flicked his ear at her voice, not caring much anymore if he was talking to a cat from another Clan. “I’m on my side of the border. Don’t worry… not here to take any of your fish, as much as I’d like to try it.” He mewed, voice tired yet non-threatening.

Mistyberry blinked in surprise at Splashstone’s tone and forced her fur to lay flat, “Sorry… I didn’t mean to come across so hostile. You just… you just startled me, that’s all.” She mewed, sitting down and giving her chest fur a couple of embarrassed licks. Mistyberry looked across the river, her eyes barely making out the WindClan warrior’s form, “I, uh, I thought you might have been one of those prey-maulers for a moment.” She added, feeling even more embossed that she had been spooked so easily.

But, I’m just a cat.” He looked at Mistyberry for a long moment before he mewed lightly. “Did you come out here to just… think, too? It’s honestly the only place I can think, sometimes. You’re a Riverclan cat… is it nice, in Riverclan?”

“Oh… yes, I come here sometimes when I need to clear my head. But I’ve never come across anyone else before, I didn’t think anyone really knew about this place..” Mistyberry mewed. She blinked at the tom’s strange question, “Well, yes, it is nice in RiverClan. It’s my home and where my… family is.” She felt another wave of grief at the mention of family, but gave a shake of her head and cleared her throat, “And what about WindClan? Is it… is it nice there as well?”

Windclan likes to argue amongst itself a about…” He trailed off, stopping himself from admitting about tunneling before he decided “silly things. I have my sisters, but… some days it’s all just too much.” He shook his head. “You can come out closer if you like. I don’t really care all that much about borders right now. I’m Splashstone, by the way. Though I’m sure we’ve passed eachother at gatherings.”

Mistyberry stood and padded forward before slipping through the water towards him. Once she had reached the other side, she pulled herself out of the water and gave her fur a light shake, the water flowing off her fur easily, “I believe I’ve heard your name before. I’m Mistyberry, it’s nice to meet you Splashstone.” She mewed with a small dip of her head. Mistyberry sat down after introducing herself and blinked at Splashstone, recognizing him a bit from previous gatherings. “You said your clan argues a lot. Is that why you’re out here tonight? Have they been arguing a lot?” She asked, genuinely curious about him.

“One of the reasons…” Splashstone admitted, though he couldn’t help but watch Mistyberry move through the water. She was beautiful, there was no denying that, and yet it was the ease and strength in which she moved, how comfortable she looked in her element that really entranced him. He admitted. “One of my older Clanmates said some rabbit-brained things about an apprentice who didn’t deserve it. Made me not want to stay and listen to the older cats mutter about traditions and Starclan’s anger.” He grumbled, before he swallowed.
“You swim really well. Ah… I’m half-Riverclan. I don’t care much anymore who knows it, but actually seeing Riverclan cats swim, it’s very impressive.”

“Oh, I see. That must be frustrating.” Mistyberry mewed. She couldn’t remember a time RiverClan had ever argued over something so petty. She blinked in surprise when Splashstone admitted that he was half RiverClan himself, “R-really? Does your clan know about it?” She asked.

My mother pretty much told them all so. Not by name, but.” Splashstone shrugged, the ache of missing his mother still fresh in his heart. “I guess a part of me feels like maybe I’ll be happier if I can understand that part of me better.” He sighed, clearly not looking very happy, yet trying his best to not sound pessimistic. “Sorry, I hope I don’t sound all mopey. I don’t want to ruin your alone time with my sap.”

"And, if Cedarstar was concerned enough to not keep it to himself, then it must be serious." “Do you think he would have kept it to himself if he could have?” Swanflight mumbled a bit, inwardly appreciating Cedarstar’s warning, but also doubting that any Shadowclan cat did much out of the goodness of their hearts. She padded through a puddle, looking around. “Well. It’s not as bad as I thought it would be out here.”
