I am thinking about requesting one for my birthday...they seem really cool. Does anyone own a copy of one of them? Do they all contain mangas/comics? What are the cards like? Is it worth it to own?

I don't have any of the actual books but the merchandise is amazing. We're missing out. Be aware that the merchandise is really hard to find and the books are probably pretty expensive due to shipping costs.
I'm guessing that the books are like any other book, just written in Chinese. I'm not sure if all of them contain a trading card so you might want to do some research on that.

If you ever have questions about foreign Warriors books, I'm your girl! I own all of the Simplified Chinese books, and most of the Traditional Chinese books. Which version are you looking to get? The Simplified Chinese books don't come with trading cards, but do have random scenes throughout the book that are manga pages. The Traditional Chinese books come with one trading card per book - they are the 3-D kind where when you tilt them back and forth, the image looks 3-D, but they do not have manga scenes throughout the book. If you post a pic or link of the one you are looking to get, I can tell you which is which. I can also direct you on where to go to buy most languages if you ever want certain books, or even Chinese merchandise, though a word of warning on the merchandise - the merchandise itself may be cheap, but shipping is ridiculously expensive. Here's a link to where I posted pics of my collection on here last month, to give you an idea of what I have: Pre-Christmas Warriors CollectionCollecting foreign Warriors stuff is my obsession, and I'm always happy to help!

Are the manga pages the same ones from the america versions? Or are they all new comics by chinese artists? The manga pages are scenes from the book they're in, such as the manga scenes in the Fading Echoes book are from Fading Echoes. They're scattered throughout the book and are of a scene from that part of the book. Everything is in Chinese. The designs of the cats are similar to the American mangas. If it's a super edition you want to get, let me know, because I would want to go back and check to make sure it has extra scenes like the regular books (I'm at work now, so I can't check). Edit - the super editions do not have manga scenes in them

That one is Simplified Chinese, so it has the random manga pages, but no trading card. Kudos on being able to use Amazon China! Is it linked to your home country's Amazon? I use Panlishop to do all of my shopping from China, which is a shopping agent for the website Taobao, though they would buy off of Amazon.cn for me if I asked them to. Let me know if you need any help with ordering if you decide to get it!

I ordered something from Amazon.jp two years ago and I thought there had to be other languages to test out, so here we are! But, hooray! Aw, thank you so much, I really appreciate it! How do you tell traditional from simplified though? Is there a design difference, or description?

Most of the books have different cover art, though The New Prophecy and Power of Three covers are practically identical between the 2 Chinese versions. To tell the difference on those, I look at the Chinese writing itself on the cover. I don't read a word of Chinese, but I've been collecting and researching the foreign books long enough now to be able to tell the difference. Plus on your book, I believe the cat is jumping out of the cover facing left in one language, and right in the other. I actually just bought the same book you're looking to get about 2 weeks ago in Traditional Chinese, so I just went to the pic of the one I bought to confirm. I'm guessing most of what you'll find on Amazon.cn will be the Simplified Chinese, since the Traditional Chinese is actually Taiwan's version.

I'm sorry if I have so many questions, it's all just really new to me and I think these books look so fascinating.

Ask as many questions as you want, I'm thrilled to finally have someone to discuss this stuff with! I look more at the shapes of the writing, because with the Simplified version, I think the letters were originally gold, then they switched to silver? I personally like the Traditional Chinese ones better, the books are better quality, they open "backwards" from what English books do, which is kinda cool, and I like the cover art better for the Original Series and Omen of the Stars, as well as the Super Editions. Gotta say, Simplified Chinese wins on the cover art for Dawn of the Clans though. I'm not sure what country you live in, but the site I usually get my Traditional Chinese books from is currently running a holiday sale, where the books are 50% off (meaning most are currently about $10.50 each) with free shipping in the US. Not sure how much longer the sale will go for. If you haven't yet, try going to the Warriors Wiki site and searching the cover gallery for the books, it's great, they have most of the foreign covers on there.

I've only seen them in paperback, but I sssume that means they'll get damaged easier, and they'll be creases in the spine or something. I have been on the Warriors' galleries, though they don't have most of the New Prophecy on there, except Moonrise from what I've seen.

By better quality, I mean that even though I have bought both versions brand new, the Traditional Chinese books are put together cleaner and the spine tends to be mostly undamaged (only had one come with a dented corner, but I think that happened during shipping), where as the Simplified Chinese books sometimes have excess glue on them, and sometimes the corners of the spines look like they were dropped and are a little dented (considering how many came like that, I'm guessing that happened before they ever left China). I have yet to have one come with a creased spine, which is good, because I'm kinda obsessive about that. The New Prophecy covers are very similar in both Chinese versions to the old American covers.

Alright, I had a gut feeling about that. That's odd though, that they'd have that kind of difference in quality, I guess I'll have to consider that then. And oh heavens, I hate creased book spines! It drives me up the wall, along with a bent page that I can't flatten. By the way, how do you search these books online? I can't find many websites that even sell the traditional copies, so I'm not sure if I'm typing it wrong (I've tried to translate it with google too). I don't get too many results on the simplified, so I'm even lucky I found that one book before.

I don't get too many results on the simplified, so I'm even lucky I found that one book before. I'm one of those people that seeks out the perfect copies of my books, but I've had to learn to let go a bit when collecting foreign books, since you can't be there to physically pick your copy. Creased spines are unacceptable to me though. I actually posted earlier today about how to go about ordering Chinese merchandise, so I copied that post below for you, since most of the steps would still apply. To get the Simplified books, go to Taobao (the link with the same name below takes you straight to the merchandise) and copy and paste 猫武士 into the search field, and that pulls up the books. To purchase books, follow the same Panli steps below. If you want Traditional Chinese books, my primary site is ABookHouse, just search Erin Hunter. If they don't have the specific book you're looking for, there's a Japanese bookstore called Kinokuniya that recently started selling Traditional Chinese books on their site as well as Japanese, your best bet with that is to click a book on ABookHouse, copy the ISBN number, then search that on Kinokuniya's site, then once it pulls up that book, you should be able to click a link for the author's name that will pull the rest up. I haven't used their online site yet (though I expect to after my next paycheck), but I have gone into one of their physical stores and had them order me some Japanese books, so they're reputable. Every site I list/link I've used before, so they're all valid. Sorry for such a long, detailed post, I just am so excited to be able to finally discuss this stuff with someone who wants to know. If you ever decide you want to move beyond Chinese books into Russian books, I have the steps for that as well. Turin not Torino Avatar Jan 12, 2017 8:39:31 GMT -5 Turin not Torino said: Ok, here is the link to the main page to buy the stuff: TaobaoI strongly advise you open that with Google, because Google Translate is about to be your new best friend. You're also going to want to go to some page that will give you a dollar to yuan conversion calculator. If you do decide to order the stuff, your best bet is to go thru a broker. Most of the sites I've dealt with either don't ship outside of China, or it's an extreme pain to do so. What the broker basically does is gives you a Chinese address to ship to, then they ship the stuff to you. The one I use is Panlishop, they are an actual partner for the website that the merch is on, so it's fairly painless to use (they do also buy from some other Chinese sites, such as Amazon China, and there is a list of the sites on their page). How it works is you put the URL for the item you want to order in their search field, and then follow the steps to order. You'll pay once for the actual item, then once it comes to their warehouse, you'll pay again to have them ship it to you. They do charge a small percentage of your order to do so, but it's not too bad. You will need an actual credit card, as the prepaid kind does not work. Keep in mind, the merchandise itself is pretty cheap, but the shipping is NOT. There is a cost calculator that can give you an estimate of what it will cost to ship stuff. Since I have ordered pretty much one of everything from them, if you want to know the weight of a certain item (you need the weight to help estimate the shipping cost) just message me what the item is, and I'll go into my purchase history and look up what the weight was for my stuff. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I have been ordering Warriors stuff from foreign sites for a couple of years now, and I would be happy to share my knowledge/experience.

That's interesting to know they don't ship outside of China...I mean it makes sense, but it's a bit odd. Though, I guess it contributes to the overall shipping totals. Are the Russian books a good choice to pick out as well, or better? Do the manga pages use the same art style every arc, or just for one set? How do the 3-D cards come packaged?

I'm glad I can help! The knowledge comes from having a lot of free time at work, and lots of trial and error. It really was a learning process, and I'm glad to be able to share my experience and save others the time it took me to learn it all. The mangas in all of the Simplified Chinese books are all of the same style, and the trading cards in the Traditional Chinese books come attached to the inside cover with a plastic sleeve. You're supposed to cut open the plastic part to remove the cards, but I just couldn't bring myself to cut the book in any way. The Russian books are a good choice - their cover art is by far the most detailed/realistic I've come across so far, they are all hardcover (except for the mangas), their artwork is unlike any of the other countries (except in the mangas, those are the same as the American/Chinese mangas), and they have a picture at the beginning of each chapter. I included pics of each of the 3 below, as well as a pic from the Russian version of Cats of the Clans to show a better example of their art style. Simplified Chinese manga Traditional Chinese trading card Russian chapter picture Russian Cats of the Clans Cloudtail looks so handsome in the russian one.

Hm, the Russian books are starting to look a whole ton more appealing than I thought. I do love the fact they are in hardcover though. I saw this video were someone shows a few manga pages from the simplified books, but they all had different art styles, so that's why I asked. I don't think I could bear to cut anything out of the book either, so if I did end up getting traditional, I'll leave the card in.

It was the Russian books that made me want to start collecting the foreign ones in the first place. Funny thing is, they ended up being the last language of the 5 languages I initially wanted that I started collecting. I wasn't even planning on collecting them until maybe this year sometime, but someone ended up putting 23 Russian books on eBay, and the price was just too good to pass up. I then obsessively sought out the ones that I was missing, and even bought myself a German address (for 1 Euro) because the only site I could find the Russian Graystripe/Scourge mangas on was a German site that didn't ship outside of the country. That ended up coming in handy later when German eBay put the hard to find first printings of The Prophecies Begin books (I call them the German Ring books because the covers have a cat in a circle on the cover) up for auction, and the seller wouldn't ship outside of Germany. I know, I have an addition, I promise I intend to do better this year... The Russian Field Guides are really cool, and sometimes they can be a little graphic (when flipping through earlier to take a pic, I happened to pass a picture of where the tree had fallen on Mudclaw), but they're definitely unique. I know the Simplified Chinese Field Guides are the same ones we're used to, but I won't know about the Traditional Chinese ones until next month (they're going to be my Valentine's Day gift, 2 of them already came in the mail and have little bonus gifts in black bags attached to the cover, which I'm dying to see but have to wait). Where did you see the video with the different manga styles? I just went and checked, and it does look like the ones from The Prophecies Begin have a different style, I'll put pics of the others below (the one in my previous post was from a Power of Three book, and the Omen of the Stars books look the same as those). The Prophecies Begin The New Prophecy Dawn of the Clans Oh my, 23 books? What luck! I didn't know they had multiple printings...hm. Just from that one picture from Cats of the Clans, I can see they're already paying attention to character detail, which the Erin's don't do all the time. I saw this video and near the end there's this sideshow of manga pages. The Prophecies begin seems to have more detailed designs, New Prophecy looks more...I don't know, carrtoony, and the rest all follow a similar design style later on.

I agree with you, The Prophecies Begin mangas seem to be darker and more detailed, then The New Prophecy seems more cartoony with stronger ink outlines, and then the next 2 seem similar to the mangas we already know. The Dawn of the Clans mangas seem more rounded, like the cats faces seem less angular if that makes sense at all. The buttons shown at the 22:27 mark in your video are what I believe are attached to the Traditional Field Guides that I have waiting for me - 1 button per book, but like I said before, the bags they're in are black, so I have no idea which buttons I got. Hopefully the other 2 will come with buttons as well, and I don't get any duplicates. I know the publisher for the Traditional Chinese books was giving them away of you spent a certain amount buying from their site, but I haven't found a broker in Taiwan that looks reputable enough that I would trust giving my credit card number to. They also have this really cool pencil case with Yellowfang on it, but again, I have no way to order directly from them. Yeah, in Germany, there was an original printing of The Prophecies Begin, then they switched to the covers they have now. Same thing with the Simplified Chinese - The Prophecies Begin originally had different covers, and the only way you can get them anymore is to use the Secondhand option on the Taobao website, which I figure is the closest thing they have to eBay over there. I had to buy them used, but I definitely went through and found the ones in the best shape without any cover creasing.

The New Prophecy one does remind me of Rise of Scourge for some reason though. Do their designs typically look like the characters, or is it all personalized? I know it's all shades of black, white, and gray, but some characters are really easy to spot out, like Hollyleaf for being a solid black or Dovewing from being gray with a paler nuzzle what I've seen, but others I have absolutely no idea. Hm, that's interesting to know the field guides come with mystery buttons. Getting duplicates is awful...I will send my thoughts out to you to make sure it's all original along with eventually getting your Yellowfang pencil case from a reputable site. That's sort of odd that they'd have a first printing for only series one, but I guess they did it when the sequel arcs came out.

Thanks, and good luck to you on whatever foreign editions you choose to get! And thank you for discussing all of this over the past week with me, it's been a lot of fun.

Glad I was able to help. I'm gonna miss it too, not to sound sappy, but you were the first person on here that "friended" me because of me (not just because they friend everyone), and that actually means a lot. If you ever want to talk again, about Warriors or anything, feel free to PM me, I might answer at strange hours in the middle of the night, but I'll always answer.

I think 'friended' should be used for people you actually are friends with/want to be friends with instead of just anyone. I'll totally be open to PM you whenever though! You're probably the first person I fee like I've bonded with over this site who wasn't my friend from the beginning. Haha, sometimes I'm up at some pretty odd hours myself, so you never know!
