Well, that's a start. Don't start thinking it's all going to go bad until you have your first class. I know the feeling of having to get up at 6:00. x.x That's me tomorrow.

And good luck with your own classes. And if I'm still having trouble with the laptop, I'm gonna see if I can have someone take the notes for me because apparantly I have the option to do that because accommodations and I don't think the college has their own technology to lend out like some other schools do. I'd take the notes myself if my motor skills weren't slow.

When it came to note taking i had two notebooks, one to speed shorthand everything i might need, and one to re write the sloppy into full words and sentences when i had the time at the end of class or during lunch and passing periods.

So, I just drank some tea to calm my nerves. It only barely helped. I decided to do just one semester at least if college is too stressful for me, but I'm also still trying to look into getting a job at B&N, so at least my family can't say I'm not going to be doing anything if I leave college behind.
In other news, I'm working on rewriting the entire Warriors series (or at least until I get over my writer's block for my other stories), and I plan for the allegiances to be posted today. I'll add a link if any of you are interested.

It seems like your family really frustrates you and makes you feel like you have to do what they want you to to please them and I just hope youre ok dude. You shouldn't have to.
I'll take a link but no promises I'll actually remember to read it when you complete it because I've been pretty scatterbrained and absent lately oops

It is pretty frustrating, but I think I'm just done with trying to please them all the time. It's only been making me miserable, so I think I'll just do one semester if college isn't for me, whether they like it or not.

Yeah, I definitely think since youre so close to starting tou might as well go through with it, and who knows maybe when things settle down and you can decide for yourself you might find that it is what you wanna do or change courses.

Being forced into college isn't good. It's hard to do well when you're taking classes you're not passionate in taking (speaking from experience lol). But it's also a good thing to try out and experience. And a job at B&N is the dream.
anyways hey, hi, hello, tag, bonjour, hola. been a while.

I agree, from my experiences being forced into work or school is never helpful for anyone's lifestyle. But one semester will fly by, so if you end up hating it, you can always just stop after that and choose something else. Or alternately you might find another program while you're there that seems interesting, and you could always switch into it.
If you end up hating college I would prob suggest trying to pick up work shifts for a year or two while you weigh other options, that way you have money saved up already in case you want to go back and take courses/travel/etc

Also I took a sociology course in the past and it's actually pretty fascinating Kind of, but they're only a few minutes apart, so I'll be using time that to get between classes. American Government is from 8:30-11:26 and Sociology is from 11:40-2:36 and they're on different floors.

That's not a bad schedule. and sociology could be fun! I'm taking an anthropology right now and it's my favorite class so far.

What's sociology like, anyway?

It's a lot of broader, philosophical ideas about society mixed in with more modern ideas, I guess? Like you learn a lot about social structure on a cultural, biological, and economical level
Or as one of my friends says, it's like anthropology, but exclusively about white people

So, philosophy as in Plato, Aristotle, and other famous philosiphers, right?

Yes, those plus a lot more. It's not necessarily going to delve deep into any one philosophical idea, because that would be a philosophy class, but it'll pull elements from several different ones when it comes to society. Pretty sure my textbook itself opened with a quote from Aristotle, actually.
On that note, fingers crossed you get a good textbook(s) assigned to you, because I find that helped immensely. My text was my main study tool, so the fact it was easy to understand/read like a narrative was super helpful

Hey, I'm taking sociology right now! It is pretty interesting. Can't say much, since I'm only reading the book and been to two classes, but it's one of the ones I think I'll actually survive.

So, college went better than I expected, though that's probably because it's just the first day. Oh, and if anyone is interested, here's a link to that Warriors rewrite I mentioned earlier: wcrpforums.com/thread/42991/rr-bl-re-boo-ll

That's good to hear! Thanks! We mostly just did an introduction to the class in both cases, and the classes were pretty small too (though alot of people didn't come to Sociology). I also already spoke to my professors about using a laptop, and their okay with it. I need to get two textbooks for American Government, but I can't order them until Monday, and I refuse to buy from the college's bookstore or rent them so I'll buy them from Amazon, though the first few chapters are available on a site called Blackboard. Some of the stuff that was discussed in AG I already knew, and my professor is even letting me send him videos on the topics, which is what I did during high school too. There's one assignment (he hasn't given an exact due date yet) where we choose a topic and present it to the class. Being the history buff that I am, I chose Constitutional Founding. I'm seriously tempted to make a Hamilton parody out of it, but I sadly cannot write songs. ^^" For Sociology, the exams are multiple choice and the assignments are to write something about yourself. There'll be four, which will be incorporated in a longer writing assignment (about six to eight pages). We'll also be watching movies and write short responses based on that. So yeah, pretty easy first day, even if it did last for hours, though a break was given for each because of it.

Yep! That sounds about typical, at least when I compare it to my college. That's basically what you can expect from a good portion of time. Sounds like it might be fun. To bad about the Hamilton parody. xD

To bad about the Hamilton parody. xD Hopefully my next classes will be just as chill. Tomorrow I just have one that's from 11:30-2:15 (Speech). Assuming it is what I think it is, and considering I stammer and I'm also horrible at making speeches, that's probably the class I'll have the most trouble with. Maybe English (Mon. and Wed. class) too, in terms of essays. And this is coming from someone who loves writing and reading. As for the parody thing, eh it's fine, though maybe I can still find a poet/songwriter to help. XD
