"Can we go to the river? I want to show you my newest hunting skill," said Mosspaw. He couldn't wait to show Dawnlight what he had learned.

"Yes maybe you can help Willowpaw learn too. Unless Willowpaw would rather keep dry paws and find other prey. Both of you run on ahead " Dawnlight was happy to see eager apprentices. "Do you remember being anywhere near that full of energy as they are Silverthorn."

"Sure!" said Mosspaw. Full of excitement, Mosspaw headed towards the river. When he had reached it, he looked into the water and waited for a fish to leap out, as Silverthorn had instructed previously.

Dawnlight kept walking ears alert for signs of life. She paused at movement in the brush a few tail lengths away.

Suddenly, a shape flew out of the water. Mosspaw swiped his paw at it, but missed. "Mouse dung," he mumbled. Then, he remembered how Siverthorn had messed up when she was instructing him, and tried again. Mosspaw looked at the water again, waiting for a fish to spring out. When one leaped up, he swiped out his paw and this time, he had successfully batted the fish to the riverbank. Quickly, he killed the fish with a bite to the neck and picked up his catch, swelling with pride.

The sound disappeared and Dawnlight peeked out of the trees in time to see Mosspaw's catch

Mosspaw saw Dawnlight peeking out of the trees and carried his catch to her, full of pride.

Dawnlight padded slowly toward the river. Why was she so silly she really didn't want to get her paws wet. Oh well I told Mosspaw he could teach me. "I'm ready when you are"

"So, first, you wait until a fish jumps out of the water." Mosspaw said, "When a fish leaps out of the water, swipe your paw out at it and bat it to the riverbank, and try not to lose your balance. Then, kill the fish with a bite to the neck or spine. Watch me," Mosspaw turned towards the river and then waited for another fish to leap out. After what seemed like moons, a fish leaped out of the water and Mosspaw swiped out his paw to catch it, and batted it back to the riverbank. He quickly killed the fish with a bite to the neck, just before it flopped back into the river.

"Okay. I'm going to try it." Dawnlight mirrored the way Mosspaw sat. Then she waited for a fish to pop out. She batted it as far as she could to the riverbank and swooped down to bite it narrowly keeping from falling in the water.

"I bet there are other cats that would love to learn how to fish too. But I think I should probably keep to prey I the forest so I don't fall into the river." Dawnlight nodded to the apprentice as she sniffed the air scenting a mouse.

"Okay," said Mosspaw, "I think I'll carry these fish to the rest of the patrol." Mosspaw picked up the fish and headed back to where Silverthorn and Willowpaw were.

"Okay" Dawnlight nodded as she crept toward where she thought the mouse was.
(Just realized I still have to do the aged a moon thing and I've gotta figure out if any of the apprentices are around ready for warrior names. I guess I should have an assessment I was thinking have like a hunting competition and have all the 'paws have mock fights with others around their age or size. What do you guys think)

Dawnlight pounced on the mouse and then followed after Mosspaw. It would make it a little faster to gather the prey of they kept it in a semi central location.

Mosspaw thought about his clan. Mosspaw enjoyed training with Silverthorn and going on patrols with the clan. He loved his clan, and there wasn't a thing he would change about it. "I love the clan. There isn't a single thing I would change about it," said Mosspaw. He wondered why Dawnlight had asked him this question out of the blue.

Willow follows carrying a mouse in her jaws. She buries her mouse beside Mosspaw and Dawnflight's catches.

Silverthorn buried a squirrel she had caught with the fish. Her eyes were shining with pride. She was so proud of Mosspaw, not only for catching fish but for teaching Dawnligjt how to do that. He'll be a great mentor someday, she thought. |

Dawnlight headed farther away from the group looking for a rabbit or something a little bigger.
Darkstar watched Cedarpaw knowing she had taught him well.
Minkkit started to doze as he watched Foxkit and Elmkit continue to tumble around.
