There were several things Roberta would love to tell her to do, though most were loud and would probably get Hazel in trouble with the prince, and that would simply be unfair. Though there was at least one unsuspecting victim nearby who probably wouldn't mind all that much. Smiling, she tilted her head, "Go out into the hall and hug the first person you see for at least thirty seconds. Before you let go, whisper the creepiest thing imaginable in their ear and come straight back without explaining anything."

(I disappeared. YAY POWER!!!)
Quinn laughed. "Yes! Yes please!" She nodded energetically, shifting and looking at Hazel with an excited gaze. This girl was too hyped up to even think about sleep at this moment.

Hazel smirked right back at Gil. There were plenty more jokes where that came from. She grinned and chewed on her thumb nail while she debated whether or not she could actually do that--but those were the rules of the game! "What to say..." she muttered. She pulled her hand away from her mouth and snapped her fingers. "Got it!" She hopped up and hurried put-- and saw Juliette, the grumpy guard. At least it was somebody she recognized. Without warning, Hazel flight her arms around Juliette's shoulders. Shoot, what do I do if she tries to fight me off?!
Crystal gasped quietly in disbelief when Hazel actually left. Hug a stranger? And then be creepy about it?! She could certainly never do it. They're all crazy, she decided.

Roberta simply turned in place, smiling. Good thing Juliette had been right where she expected, she now had a perfect view of what was about to happen. Which suddenly turned into panic because Juliette was a murder machine and she'd just told something to go give her a surprise hug.

Juliette was exceedingly bored. She could hear laughter from inside, the sound of disgustingly unhealthy food being munched away on. She shut her eyes and sighed wistfully. She had been an eight when she was younger, always concerned about where her next meal would come from, how she was going to survive the night, where she would sleep. She didn't have friends and slumber parties were only fantasies on tv or in the movies. So really, this only felt natural. She was an outsider looking in. Well, listening in this case. That didn't prevent it from being, again, exceedingly boring. So when she suddenly felt arms around her, and a body squeezed on her own, she went rigid. Her first instinct was to grab this person's neck and just have a field day. Cold eyes flickered open, glaring downwards at the head of hair. Alas, the planets were not aligned, and this was not the time for that. Instead, he jaw set, and she lifted her eyes again, staring straight forward. Whatever this was, she hoped it was over quickly, because old habits died hard.

Charles sat quietly for a moment after nodding in approval of Alex's more self-assured tone. "I am always more than happy to give you advice, son," he began. "But I think you're asking the wrong question. The Selection is a process, not an event. Eliminations will be important, of course, but you're less than twenty-four hours in, and so far the only thing you seem to be concerned with is getting rid of the girls rather than getting to know them." He studied the boy's face for a moment, struck again by the thought of how young he was. "Don't be so concerned with sending girls home that you forget that the one who remains will be your wife for life." Young and calculating. Not cold-hearted, but not necessarily open and inviting either. Was he ready for this Selection? Had they pushed it on him too soon? Alexander was slightly confused. "How would you suggest I get to know them?" He knew his mother would be meeting with the girls tomorrow, and he'd been thinking he could take them... On walks, or something, afterwards. Speaking to each girl seemed like the fastest way to discover who had the traits he was looking for- intelligence, obedience, leadership, support, and charisma.

(Yes Alex. To take care of girls, you feed and water them twice a day, and make sure to take them on walks XD I'm genuinely afraid for Hazel rn x3)
Quinn held her breath and peeked out, spotting the somewhat scary guard that Gil called his best friend. If Gil likes her, she can't be too bad. She thought, squirming at the awkwardness of this moment.

Hazel laughed, feeling a little awkward but refusing to let it faze her yet. "C'mon, Juliette, it's just a hug. For a dare. I don't bite...not unless provoked." Boy, this girl was tall. Had it been thirty seconds yet? She lowered her voice, "If anyone asks, I said something creepy, because that was part of the dare too, but I think you've tolerated enough."
Crystal hid her face below her eyes behind the pillow, horribly embarrassed, for both of them.

Charles shook his head. "For heaven's sake, Alex, the same way you get to know anybody. The same way any boy tries to get to know a girl. Talk to them, do things with them, take them on dates. I know it's intimidating," he said, more gently, "but it's not quite so hard as it seems at first."

I know it's intimidating," he said, more gently, "but it's not quite so hard as it seems at first." Alexander bit back a remark about never having actually gotten to know anybody like that, not to mention a girl. He knew it would only make his father see that he wasn't ready for the responsibility of the Selection, or his future with the crown. I supposed I'll have to figure it out myself. "Ah, you're correct. I'm over-thinking it all," Alexander said instead, with an air of coolness. Besides, dates and what-not can't be that hard. Perhaps I'll ask Gil for suggestions.

Charles nodded again, missing the uncertainty in Alex's expression, especially since it was gone again in an instant. "It will be just fine, son." He squinted a little, scrutinizing Alex. "Aren't you even a little excited? Most young men your age would kill to be in your place."

Juliette had two options here. She could be nice, and simply let this continue in polite silence until Hazel's dare, or whatever, was over. Or, option two, be petty. Which was what she dove headfirst into. "Not unless provoked?" A smirk snuck on to her lips as she slid an arm around the girl's waist. She looked over her threateningly, "I doubt that would be very difficult to do. After all, I'm the scary guard no one likes. Who would dare even touch me? Let alone hug..." With a scoff, she shook her head, glancing back to the gap in the door where a crowd was watching. To make is seem as if Hazel had, in fact, completed her dare, she roughly pushed her away, adding, "I don't get scared by little girls."

Hazel laughed and patted Juliette's back before beingg pushed away. "Thanks, Jules, you're a sport," she laughed, giving a little salute before bounding back into the room. "Done! Who wants to go next?" She asked faux-menacingly, rubbing her hands together.

Charlotte smirked as she watched the scene from her seat. She was sure Juliette wouldn't act all that wild, it wasn't really her. When all she did was push her away Charlotte could only shrug. She was sure they would have gotten a better reaction from someone else. (Hello, i'm on.)

"Aren't you even a little excited? Most young men your age would kill to be in your place." Alexander smiled slightly. The question was amusing because he wasn't most young men. He was a prince, and someday a king. "To be completely honest, I find the whole process rather unecessary. If it was up to me, I'd have a political marriage. But I see the wisdom in choosing a queen for the people," Alexander said all this confidently. He'd thought about it a lot in the last few weeks, and didn't see the point in wasting so much time with a group of girls when only one would be his wife. However, it provided the country with entertainment and a ruler they loved- incredibly helpful in keeping the people compliant.
