|| Pippa || The third-year listened intently as the other girl talked about the subjects she was taking, and practically almost jumped out of her seat when she mentioned wandlore. ''I love wandlore!'' she said, ''in fact, when I'm older I'd love to be a wandmaker, although it's really complex to learn, and I'm not exactly a Ravenclaw.''
Well, that was certainly true. Pippa didn't quite have the quiet, intent thought process of a Ravenclaw. She didn't think before shooting her hand up in class, and hardly ever revised, being her unorganised self. If someone was standing in a classroom watching, they'd think she was incredibly smart, getting the answer so quickly, until they discovered that all the answers she blurted out were wrong. It surprised everyone when one was right, actually.
''Hmm, maybe Divination,'' she replied, ''I know loads of people say it's boring, but it looks fun to me. Did you take Divination?'' Calliope Once again, Calliope had to stop and double check what she just heard. She wanted to go into wandmaking too? What were the odds Calliope ended up in a carriage with probably the only other student in this school who was interested in the subject? Given enough time, she could probably calculate it, but she wasn't interested in that. Predictably, foolishly, Calliope almost jumped into discussing techniques and lore she had read about, but she held back. Surprisingly, it was harder than she expected. Calliope almost hadn't realized how badly she had been looking for someone to enthuse with over her passions with.
But she bite her tongue, calmly listening to the other girl's answer. Calliope nodded along, her face a mask, but her eyes gleaming. When she was sure the Gryffindor had finished, she said, "Yeah, I did. I enjoyed it, though the professor said I didn't exactly possess the gift of sight." Calliope began to scratch behind Blaze's ears when he started to meow for attention. "Still, certainly not boring. Who wouldn't want to predict the future?"

"Victoria. Well, most call me-" Her voice cut off, watching as Salem squirmed out of her hands and next to Solomon, let out a loud mewl, trying to get the much larger cats attention as if she where a kit. She shook her head before frowning, trying to remember what she was saying. "Well, most call me Tori." She told him, eyeing her cat cautiously, clearly not trusting her. Salem had the tendency to try to make friends with animals who didnt want to make friends with her. Zacharie ;; Solomon stared down at the tiny thing before baring his fangs and hissing, teeth as oversized as the rest of him. He really was a beast - and Zacharie could tell with the comparison of a normal cat. A normal cat was maybe a quarter of Solomon's size on a good day, and that was without factoring in the fact that this one appeared to be a kitten. For a moment, he debated in intervening so that the other cat would not be killed, but he decided not to. It was likely that Solmon would, at most, bat it out of the moving carriage. He seemed tense, though. "Okay," he said, as emotionless as ever. "Move your cat from mine. Solomon does not take kindly to strangers."

|| Taya ||
For a while Taya struggled to think of something to say, but then gave up. They were almost there now, anyway. The great castle loomed over her, even closer. It seemed more magnificent every year. The sixth year sat in an awkward silence for the rest of the carriage journey, before she noticed the Thestrals slow down a little, before stopping. ''Um, I'll see you another time, maybe?'' Taya muttered to Cyrus as she gathered up her things, picking up the cage which held Misty, who let out a meow of protest as she had been awoken from her slumber. Taya doubted she would see Cyrus again, but her words seemed like they were a polite enough parting. She hopped out the carriage and made for the castle, down the track, joining the crowd.
Oh, of course. She'd almost forgot.
Turning round, she made her way back to the great winged horse, and fumbled in her pockets. She revealed a sugar cube, which she had brought back from her uncle's farm in the summer. He kept horses, and she assumed Thestrals liked them, too. Once the Thestral had gulped down the sweet treat, she patted it on the nose and made her way back to the castle, trying to ignore the judging stares a group of second-years had given her.
|| Luke || ''Yeah, I have a sister,'' Luke replied, drawing his gaze away from the little boats as they stopped at the edge of the lake, ''her name's Tia. She'd better be a Slytherin. If she's not when am I actually gonna see her? We made a whole list of plans for this year, all ways to prank people, you see.'' Luke didn't say any more about the pranks he and Tia had in mind. He didn't want anyone else knowing them. Anyway, Ryker was a fifth year, he didn't want to know about second-year games, probably. In fact, it was most-likely kinda weird to him that Luke was even pulling pranks on people.
|| Pippa || ''Oh, right,'' Pippa replied. That probably meant that she wouldn't be very good at Divination, either. Or maybe not...maybe Divination would finally be the subject she was good at, and maybe Care of Magical Creatures, too, which she was most excited about of all.
Although, right now, she was still trying to get over the fact that Calliope enjoyed Wandlore. ''What's your favourite aspect of Wandlore? How come you like it so much? What kind of wand do you have?'' She fired the questions at Calliope as if this were some kind of exam.

(Are my other charries accepted Cosmic??) "I've noticed," She responded, not willing to apologize for Salems actions. If Salem was going to try to make friends, then she would have to learn to fight for herself. She smirked as her little black cat let out a hiss of her own and batted at the bigger cat, claws unsheathed. She picked up her cat in one smooth movement, muttering "Do you want to go into the case?" To which the cat gave her a sour look. "I can't wait till the ceremonys over, so I can go back to my room," She commented, not a fan of any o the festivities.

Nate grinned brightly, then realized he had brought some candy with him from the train ride, well, some was an understatement. He bought himself enough to last him a good week or two of heavy eating. Reaching down into a bag, he pulled out two chocolate frogs, tossing one towards Lyra, then starting to open his own.
Ryker smirked slightly at that. "I've never really been good at pulling pranks, my pranks that I pull are considered to be 'Too extreme', 'Dangerous', or 'Borderline Abusive'. Can you believe that?" He said with a snort of indignation.

( omg sorry cosmic im not sure how to respond since she's leaving )
Zacharie ;;
Solomon gave a low, rumbling growl, unsheathing his own claws. His odd gaze continued to follow the other cat before he laid down and stretched out next to Zacharie, showing off his body length. He was, of course, as massive as ever - he was long-legged, the sort out cat that could easily tower over even fully-grown Maine Coons. Honestly, he knew he was large.
"Mm," for a moment, the French boy simply watched his cat before his gaze flicked absently to the girl - Tori - again, and he stared unblinkingly. "They are not so abysmal that I will not pay attention, but it becomes rather irksome after some time."
He folded his hands neatly in his lap and maintained his cool facade, tilting his chin upwards slightly to watch the castle approaching them. The Thestrals seemed quite content to pull them along, though they were not too eager on going faster than they had to.

"mmm," She agreed, touching the tattoo on her wrist once again, thinking about her ceremony- how terrifying it was to get up in front of all of those people, someone, she couldn't remember who, had to push her towards the sorting hat. Her second year she tried to skate out of the ceremony and feast, but was caught by the prefect. She tried again her third year and now the prefects always watched her, just because they knew she'd try to get out of going to the ceremony. Her pale gaze switched to the Thestrals once more. "They're gorgeous creatures, aren't they?" As the carriage slowed to a halt.

Yes, I can believe that, Luke thought privately, wishing he could roll his eyes. He didn't even want to think about the sort of ''pranks'' Ryker pulled. Luke pulled all sorts of pranks, but he knew when enough that enough. The worst he had done (and received a detention for) was cast a spell that he had been practicing for ages (which he could barely remember) on a bunch of fourth-year Ravenclaws, which had made their hair tangle up in a million little knots. One of them had had to cut her hair really short.
''Well, with some practice you can make them less abusive,'' Luke replied with a slight sneer.
He noticed that they were coming towards the track leading up to Hogwarts. The cart was slowly coming to a halt.
''Well, looks like we're here,'' the Slytherin muttered, his words accompanied by a shrug. He wasn't sure who was going to say goodbye, whether they were going to walk to the castle together, or whatever was happening. Ryker could decide that, although Luke didn't really think the fifth-year would like to be seen with a second-year.

(Got it Bronze ) Lyra caught the chocolate frog and grinned. "Thanks Evens." She opened it and looked up the carriages were coming to a halt, it was time to get out. "Yes! We are here!" The girl popped up out of her seat grabbing her things and shoving the chocolate frog in her mouth. She turned looking at Nate. "Come on slow poke lets go!" Lyra teased him and she jumped out of the carriage. Hogwarts loomed over the students now, it was just like she remembered a home away from both homes. Stretching she letting out a big sigh. "Its good to be back." (Sorry it is short i have a doctors appointment soon and I'm getting ready)

Zacharie ;;
"You appear to be under the assumption that I can see them," said Zacharie, though he did not quite deny it.
When the carriage rumbled to a halt, he waited for it to stop entirely before lightly pushing at Solomon. The great cat unfolded and stood up, hopping down and waiting patiently for his owner. After a couple of seconds, Zacharie stood up and followed, landing gracefully on the ground. He adjusted his tie and exhaled softly, gesturing for Solomon to go on ahead. He could see Cyrus, from the corner of his eye, though the other boy was quite content in ignoring everyone. Hm.
"Farewell," he said, because it was polite, and headed towards the castle.

(Awesome, are there any boats I could put my first years on?? ^^)
Tori smirked, "I didn't have to. I can see you studying them." She responded, before waving a goodbye, waiting a few moments for him to leave before leaning against the seat, sighing as she prepared herself mentally to get into the crowd. She put Salem onto her shoulders, the small cat wrapping around her neck almost like a scarf, and grabbed Phillips cage in one hand and her case in the other, before setting off, looking for some familiar faces.

Quinn hadn't talked to anyone quite yet, the normally fireball, excitable girl quiet and nervous. She hadn't talked to anyone on the train ride, not even the trolley witch, who offered her some cakes. She bought a few, not making eye contact, only looking at her pup, Pip, who was six months old. She had gotten him in Diagon Alley, so she had a sneaking suspicion that he wasn't all the way normal, but her mother wouldn't let her get anything that looked remotely magic- which meant no cats, toads, or even owls. I'll just have to save up for that. She thought with a sigh, rubbing the australian shepherds black ear. Her father had apparently left her a ton of wizarding world money, but she wasn't able to get a hold of him in time, her mother making it nearly impossible to get ahold of him. Now she was on a boat, watching nervously as the castle got bigger and bigger.
Icarus lept off of the carriage, looking at Hogwarts affectionately. The summer had been long, too long. He was ready to be back at where he considered his real home to be. Orion, who was out of his cage, let out a soft hoot.

[[ i'll get Tia to talk to Quinn c: ]] || Tia ||
Tia looked around her. The lake seemed to stretch out all around her, a large expanse of water. Luke had told her that there was a giant squid that lived here, but she was hesitant to believe him - he was probably just trying to scare her, because she wasn't exactly the strongest of swimmers in the world, and sea creatures terrified her.
She looked about the boat she was in. Most of the first years here looked terrified, and she didn't blame them. Now that they were so close to the sorting she felt all kinds of butterflies in her stomach - what house would she be sorted in? She hoped Slytherin, so she could be with her brother.
Luke had told her to talk to someone, she remembered. Apparently it was vital she made friends in her year because she wouldn't be able to hang around with him for most of the day. She noticed a small looking girl with a sweet little Australian shepherd puppy. Dogs were always the solution to starting a conversation.
''Hi,'' she muttered nervously as the boats stopped, ''can I pet your dog?''

Quinn jumped a little, surprised that someone talked to her. She frowned, taking a moment to locate the sound of the voice. Her hazel eyes landed on another gil who was sitting just crossed from her. She gave her a nervous smile, but nodded, "Yeah, sure. Pip loves people, I think." She responded hesitantly, unsure if Pippin actually liked people or not. He seemed to, but she had only had Pip for a few nights, but she wasn't a hundred percent sure. Pip wagged his tail at the sound of his name, before peering at the other girl with wide, curious eyes. "Im Quinn, by the way, and this is Pip" She added with a small smile.

Tia smiled when the other girl granted her permission to pet her puppy. She scratched the little dog behind his ears. Tia already owned three extremely lively Labradors back at home. They were all brothers, and when they were puppies they'd been a complete nightmare. The family had only taken all three because the old witch was struggling with her dog's unexpected pregnancy. This one seemed alright, though. Less...excitable and annoying. ''I'm Tia,'' the first year replied, wishing she could go back to her usual, antisocial self now that she'd paid attention to Quinn's puppy. But now that she'd started a conversation, she might as well carry it on. She didn't want to be a complete loner when school started properly -better to make all the friends she could now, to avoid being a geeky recluse. ''Oh, and, this is Marshmallow,'' she added, lifting the cage which contained her large magnificent snowy owl. He poked his head out from under his wing lazily and blinked his yellow/orange eyes at Quinn, before tucking it back to snooze. Tia went red when she mentioned the name. Luke had told her how rubbish it was, even if she did quite like it.
As the boat stopped, Tia gathered her things and stepped out carefully, not wanting to fall in the lake where the squid might potentially be lurking, and waited for Quinn on the bank.
|| Luke || Luke rolled his eyes as Ryker left with a bunch of friends. He didn't need to stroll in with him anyway, he had his own friends in his own year who he could talk to while he waited for the sorting to start.
Jumping off the carriage, he hauled his stuff towards the entrance of the castle, said his name as was required every year, and deposited it, saying a swift goodbye to Zeus before making his way to the Great Hall. There was a fair few people here already, but not everyone was settled. Trying to act as little excited as possible, he sat down at the end of the Slytherin table, which was his favourite spot and the place he always chose if he could get it, and waited for the sorting to begin.

Lyra waved her hand as he ran off to join his friends. The red haired girl scanned the area for anyone she knew. So far her eyes only saw her brother, the tall ginger haired Ravenclaw prefect. "Leo!!!!!!" The girl yelled running over to him.
Leo almost cringed as he heard it, the voice of his sister. Not to long after he got exactly what he had been expecting, a swift and well aimed punch in the arm. "Ouch! Knock that off!" He snapped looking at her.
"You ditched me you jerk." She said her hands going to her hips, "Granted I was able to talk to that Evens kid who on the Quidditch team with me, you were still supposed to sit with me!" Lyra glared up at her brother who was a good bit taller than her. Lyra was the going to be the shortest in her family. Her younger brothers were already catching up if not taller than her. Of course maybe the baby would be smaller than her. One could hope.
"You need to make your own friends and I need to do the same." Leo replied turning away from his sister. "You'll understand when Liam starts school and he clings to you." Granted his words were bit harsh but they were needed. Even their mother said he needed to push Lyra off. Just last year he almost got in trouble because of prank she had pulled and he had gotten caught in the middle of when he tried to stop her. Luckily he got out of it since he was in fact a prefect.
"Thats not very nice, and I would enjoy Liams company. And I have plenty of friends!! I don't know what y-" She snapped at him.
"Yes, but I do not, because you scare them off with your pranks." Leo interrupted the younger sibling, "Plus I'm leaving after year and would like to know the people I could be working with." He said with a nod, this year he wanted to make some friends with people who were going into the same profession as him. He was going to study magical creatures, he wasn't sure which one in particular yet but probably something dangerous.

Quinns eyes widened in surprise at the owl, jumping only slightly when the boat jostled to a stop. She picked up her own things in one hand and Pip in the other, the pup squirming slightly in protest until she sat the pup back down on the shore. Pip shook out his fur, but remained right next to his owner, surprisingly obedient for such a young age, looking around at all of the other stumbling first years. "Wow, you have an owl? You're so lucky! My mum would never let me have one," She said, leaning down and looking at the snowy owl. She had seen a little barn owl that she wanted to get for herself, but her mum had freaked out at the mention of it. Maybe when she was older she would be able to get one on her own. "I can see why you named him Marshmallow, he looks just like one!" She added excitedly.

[[ this'll be my final post for the night, heading for bed now. g'night ]] || Tia ||
Tia began to make her way towards the castle, dragging her suitcase along behind her with her left hand, keeping her polka-dot rucksack slung over her left shoulder and carrying Marshmallow in his cage in her right hand. Ugh, was she supposed to do this every year? At least it was good exercise, dragging all this stuff up to the school.
Glad that Quinn liked the name (she was the first person who did, apart from Tia's mother, but she guessed that she'd just said that to cheer her up), Tia grinned. ''Thanks, and yeah, he does. He's so lazy too, so I think it suits him well.''
As they reached the school, Tia realized that she was finally meant to leave her belongings here. She was hesitant in leaving Marshmallow at first, but decided he'd be fine, and sneaked him a little owl treat before heading to the hustle and bustle of first years waiting to be sorted. The butterflies were worse than ever, now. Would she be in Slytherin? Well, if she wasn't, it wouldn't be too bad. Gryffindor wasn't that bad, but she knew for a fact that she wouldn't do well as a Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw.
''So, what house are you hoping for? Or which house do you think you're gonna get into?'' Tia asked. Talk. That was the way to go about things. If she kept talking, instead of worrying, it would calm her nerves.
