Here are a few quotes of what had happened, if you want. ~
Mine [Oooh, Luke now has a bit of an attituuuuude. I love it<33] Both of her eyebrows raised at the same time and her eyes widened in surprise. Her gaze settled on the two females for a few brief moments, before it returned to Luke, wary and calculating. Her own face reddened with his own, mostly from embarrassment. She realized that she had accidentally directed her anger towards him so that he was defensive. She was silentfor several moments, not quite sure what she should say. Her eyebrows raised even further with his response. So he WAS friends with these girls, wasn't he? Was he THAT oblivious that he had to ask why she had questioned him? But Bree shouldn't be one to talk, she was just as oblivious as he was."So these ARE your friends?" The question blurted out faster than she could contain it, however, she quickly added. "I guess it doesn't matter...they just aren't who I thought you would hang out with, is all." Suddenly her lips parted in a sudden gasp. "Were you going to do something with them? Because I don't need to interrupt anything. I just thought...I just thought...we could do something. We don't hang out much anymore...." She trailed on, taking a step away from him, a guarded expression in her eyes. She didn't necessarily have a crush on him or anything, but if felt weird. Finally realizing that all of this time he would break out of his shy spell and start hanging out with girls other than her. It was to be expected, she supposed. Chewing on the inside of her cheek, she waited for his response without making eye contact. She could feel the tension in the air, and it confused her. She had never really felt it before between the two of them, and it made her uncomfortable. "Why do you want to know why I want to know?" Was he picking on HER? Why was he acting like that? Did he know all along that she used to/maybe still did/but not really/ like him?
Yours Luke could still feel his cheeks burning from anger and embarrassment as Bree continued on making fun of him or whatever it was she was trying to accomplish. If it was to make him angry, it certainly was working. "What is that supposed to mean?" Luke puᴀsed, the volume of his voice rising just slightly. "The type of people I hang out with? What? Pretty girls?" His scowl only deepened as he continued, "you don't think I can have other friends, is that it, Bree?" he practically spat. Luke sent a glare to Bree, purposefully meeting her gaze, hoping to make her as uncomfortable and unhappy as he was. Luke felt his heart beating rapidly against his chest, and at his sides, his fists clenched and tightened as he kept talking, "I don't know, Bree! I just want to know why you think you own me? Just because you pestered me so much that I had to talk to you so you would leave me alone?" At this point in the argument, Luke's voice was loud enough to attract some attention from the people in the restaurant. The two women from before had caught his earlier comment about "pretty girls" and had inched closer to the pair of quarreling friends. Fists practically shaking with anger, Luke turned his back to Bree briefly, unclenched his ᴀ밄sts, and shoved them in his jean pockets. While he did so, he caught the gaze of the two girls - he didn't know their names - then turned back to faceBree. His face was still burning, but Luke's voice had lowered, though it was still above his normal speaking volume,"Y'know, no. No, they are not my friends, Bree. Do you know why? Because I can barely make eye contact with anyone Ispeak to! Heck, I can barely speak to other people! I'm just a freaking weirdo, right?" His eyes were narrowed as he shotanother glance at Bree. There, he said it. Her words had really hurt him this time, and he was pushed just slightly past thebreaking point. She knew him, why did she keep pressing things that she knew weren't true. She knew he didn't have friends. She knew he was too painfully shy to interact with other people. She knew. So why was she shoving it all back in his face? It was him who had been living with the painful burden for nearly his whole life. Why did she feel the need to throw salt in the wound?
It was then that Luke realized he was still at work. He was literally calling attention to himself at work. His already red face blushed even further, this time with embarrassment. That was it. He'd had enough. He spun around, his back to Bree, and took several steps away from her. "I don't think we should hang out today," were Luke's ᴀ밄nal words. He didn't look back. He didn't want to see. He also didn't want her to see. On his face was a sad expression, though the anger still lingered, the boy was upset. He hadn't meant to say those things, but he had felt completely backed into a corner. Luke bit his lip and swiped at a tear as he headed towards the door. Those two girls geez why are they still here followed, offering little coos of sympathy and back rubs to the already very uncomfortable Luke. On a normal day, he would have shrugged them oᴀ洅. But today... well, it wasn't a normal day.
OH MAN
i had too much fun with that
Mine Bree just stood there, stunned- her mouth literally hanging open in mental horror and shock. This...this was a side of Luke she had never seen before. Ever. And this made her feel even worse. She could feel the heat crawl up her neck and blossom on her face, and she could also hear the drumming of her blood in her ears. She watched him go, stunned beyond belief. She wavered at her spot, almost tempting to follow him. But she did not. Not at ᴀ밄rst. She took a few dejected steps in the opposite direction, and then she suddenly turned. Her eyes narrowed, her spine straightened, and her shoulders spread apart. A murmered sigh escaped her mouth before she was oᴀ洅, racing after him. "Luke!" Her voice was loud in her fury, and she did the unthinkable. She reached out and clasped his wrist, angling herself to stand in front of him. And then she let him go. "Stop pitying yourself. I am SICK of it! You always believed that no one would ever like you, or care for you, but you were WRONG! You have always, always, always pitied yourself. But you never did get it, did you? You don't remember all the people who tried interacting with you, did you? They didn't pester you like I did, and that is why they are not standing here today." She paused, a severe glint in her eye as she tucked loose tendrils of hair behind her ear. "And how dare you even suggest that I think I own you!!! I pestered you because that was the only way to get close to you. For goodness sakes, if I SAW something in you, everyone did!" She was ᴀ밄ghting oᴀ洅 her own tears, but she would never, ever cry in front of him. "The ONLY PROBLEM YOU HAVE IS THAT YOU RE SO OBLIVIOUS!!!" Her nails dug into her palms as she continued to reprimand him. "I only asked BECAUSE I LIKE YOU, YOU JERK! Do you remember the ice skating party when you screamed at me? No? Well, I do! Ever since then you have avoided me! You don't talk to me anymore unless I make the first move! But I see you constantly interact with others better than ever! You CAN make friends! But the only person you can't be around now is ME! Maybe I was ALWAYS the problem. Maybe you were right." She had to pause for breath now, tears welling up in her eyes. "And when I her your coworker say GO HAVE FUN with those girls, I got jealous, okay? I have spent YEARS trying to get close to you, and suddenly now it seems yours so close to everyone but me..." Her last sentence lowered to a whisper. "But you never did get that, did you?" She closed her eyes momentarily before she reached for his shoulders and jarred him several times. The tears were practically screaming to be let loose in large gush. Her voice raised until she was screaming at him once more. "Don't you see? I am not making fun of you! I like you, and I was jealous! JEALOUS, JEALOUS, JEALOUS!!!!!"
Yours Luckily, Luke and his two female friends had exited the McDonald's building before Luke received the verbal beat down of a lifetime. Luke didn't bother to turn as he heard the footsteps of Bree behind him, and instead tried to keep moving as far away from her as possible. However, his path was blocked when Bree grabbed his wrist. He recoiled at her touch and snatched his arm back, angling his shoulder towards her. Defensively, the boy crossed his arms over his chest and eyed her cautiously. Looks of shock were worn by both females, the moment Bree began to speak. But Luke... Luke on the other hand... his jaw literally dropped in shock and utter horror that kept worsening the more Bree spoke. Several times he tried to defend himself, but Bree was relentless in her pursuit so he just stood back and took the words, each like a slap to the face, as they came. At Bree's brief pause in words, Luke tried once more to counter with the "You have no right to say anything about things you don't understand" spiel, but he was shut out again.
At one point, he audibly snapped his jaw shut and dropped his gaze to the ground. The more she spoke, obviously trying to further agitate him (it was working), the more Luke began to ignore her words, while standing and eyeing her shoes with an unreadable expression, simply stewing over the hurtful things she had previously said. He almost didn't catch the grand confession in her verbal assault. Almost. Hold on. Rewind a sec. While Luke had been busy stewing over her previous words, Bree had said something revolutionary that Luke only heard because her voice had raised to the point that it caused Luke's head to snap up in surprise, at both the sudden change in volume as well as the words themselves. "I like you." These three words caused Luke's brow to furrow in confusion at their meaning. She liked him... as a person?? His anger momentarily subsided as he pondered this new found information. She had said she liked him... Then why was she insulting him? ..... It was a lie. v logical conclusion luke A+ 10/10 genius It had to be. She didn't like him. Somehow... he wasn't sure how, he'd made his feelings for Bree invisible to everyone, even himself for the longest time... but somehow Bree had managed to ᴀ밄nd out. And now she was trying to manipulate him by lying about her feelings. Ha. Well good luck. Because he was smarter than that.
Luke felt his anger rush back, blood ᴀ밄owing to his face causing a big, angry blush, though his expression remained unreadable. He let Bree continue on her rant, though he barely heard her words anymore, they were more of an angry buzz in the background of Luke's thoughts. When the ends of the rant was reached, completed with Luke allowing Bree to shake him several times, thus allowing him to return to reality, while she screamed at him about jealousy or something. It was over. The verbal smack down was over. And now that it was, Luke blinked his green eyes several times to clear his vision as he looked up at the sky. The sun had been hidden behind the few clouds that drifted across the sky. When he looked down, he looked at the upset girl close to tears that stood in front of him. His eyes narrowed ever so slightly and he recrossed his arms over his chest. With a pale face and an unreadable expression, Luke pondered his response. The air around them was thick and heavy with tension as an awkward silence seemed to drag on for minutes before Luke ᴀ밄nally spoke. "So... you liked me, huh?"
Mine Utter satisfacation crawled alongside her mind, as she verbally lectured him. It was something she had wanted to do for so very long. Of course, maybe in a different manner, but this was just as nice. Her jaw clenched in anger as Luke stared vacantly at her. How dare he? Everything she was saying was the truth. In a way they were compliments, said in a mean manner, but it's the words that count, right? Her eyes flickered shut, as she tried to compose herself before another blowout would bubble out of her mouth. This was so difficult for her, and, knowing how Luke shuts his feelings away, she had no way of knowing how he felt. She was no superwoman, and her knowledge only reached out so far. She seemed startled at his response, and she almost seemed to visibly seemed to deᴀ밄ate and become dejected. Her eyes clenched tightly shut, and her cheeks puckered in, she tried to hide the utter rage towards him. He seemed to be subdued, but the words that were emitted from his mouth were abnoxious and arrogant ones, at least to her. Slowly, her hands travelled down his arms until they reached his forearms, and she tugged on them slightly, gripping them carefully, but ᴀ밄rmly. She opened her mouth to apologize, but instead, she whispered. "I have always liked you, Luke. For the longest time!"She seemed to hesitate, raising her shoulders slightly. "Did you hear anything I said?" Her voice was defeated and gentle, she had given up for this day. Maybe it was for the best, if they separated. Yes, she had spent the majority of her highschool years to hang out with him and know him better. And their relationship was great while it lasted, but now, there were other places and people to know. Beautiful girls, and better jobs. "Don't you see?"
Yours Breathe, Luke instructed himself firmly. He sucked in a breath hastily and clenched his jaw. As angry as he still was, Luke managed to keep a blank face while he watched to Bree's reaction, although his little quirks - the crossed arms, clenched jaw - subtly revealed his irritation. As Bree tugged his forearm, he let his arms drop from their crossed position, albeit reluctantly. A prickly sensation ran up his arm and down his spine at her touch. At her first words, the boy felt his anger subside, replaced by what was perhaps the worst emotion - sadness. And regret. Luke's blank expression broke into one of a sad little boy - his brow furrowed, his lips formed a frown, and his pale eyes squinted down at the ground as he hung his head. He... well, he didn't know what to think. Her words sounded so genuine, he couldn't help but let his guard down for a moment. After a moment of head hanging, Luke lifted his gaze back to Bree's grip on his arm. He gently pulled his arms away and took her hands in his own cold ones. He tilted his head slightly to the left and ran his thumbs over the back of her hands as she spoke. His head shook just the tiniest bit when she stopped speaking. Not genuine enough. He felt his anger simmer up again as he recalled just a moment ago when she had been yelling at him and blatantly telling him his problems were not real and not valid. At least that was how he had interpreted the argument. He squeezed her hands ever so gently. "Don't worry Bree. I understand." Luke spoke his words confidently - although it was more like anger disguised as confidence. He looked her straight in the eye without so much as a tremble in his hands. He took this moment of pause between them to see if Bree would respond with any final words. After what Luke thought was an appropriate amount of time, he turned his head over to the side to smile at the two girls who were still standing there why. "I understand," he repeated through clenched teeth. He turned his head back to Bree and again looked her straight in the eyes, this time with a slight tremble in his hands as he said, "And I hope you'll understand that I never. want you to talk to me ever. again." Luke searched Bree's face for a brief moment, and held onto her hands for a second longer. And with one last glance at their hands, he let go, took two steps back from Bree, then turned around and began to walk away without a glance back.
Mine Breanna Montgomery knew that it was a hopeless cause. Luke was containing his anger extremely well, but Bree, ever watchful and ever aware, knew that he was still mad at her, and thought that she was unjustly accusing him. So, when he reached for her hands, her shoulders and her back clenched up, readying itself for a fight, or readying itself to flee. However, it felt so very nice when he reached for her hands, and she momentarily enjoyed it. In some sense she knew he wasn't being sarcastic, although he hardly meant to be sincere. It was more like a farewell. An introduction and an end, a bittersweet end to what they had, and what they would never have. She withdrew a breath, peering up at him with the most sincere expression she could muster, although she knew it would never be enough. For whatever reason. She nearly withdrew herself from his cold, cruel hands when he gently squeezed them, but she refrained herself. A horrible foreboding crept into her very soul, screaming and wailing that something was not quite right. That something very horrible, and mean, and unlike anything she had ever witnessed from Luke, was about to happen. And as soon as the words were emitted from his mouth, she froze. Yes, she heard a hissing, her own mind turning against itself, mocking and laughing. The vibrant green eyes that inhabited Bree's body was momentarily shrouded when she slowly blinked, hiding the false sense of hope she harbored. Ever so trusting, she still believed that there was no hidden meaning o his words. That he truly did understand her. That he was not as oblivious as she first thought. That he could understand her, that he harbored just the teeniest threads of pity for her soul that was bared open to him. soul encasing upon itself every moment that passed, recoiling in mistrust, anger, and hurt. And when his final sentence slipped from her mouth, her shoulders sagged. It had come. The words that she had always, in a sense, knew were coming. But it was perplexing the way he held her there. He seethed at her, in his anger, but in a most tenderest of senses, he was saying good-bye. A heartfelt and sincere goodbye. Her breath hitched in her chest, and she allowed her hands slowly drift to her sides, however, she refused to avert her eyes and allow him his cruel satis䃕왦ation. She stared back up at him in defiance, mistrust, anger, and pain. All of these emotions whirled through her eyes before they disappeared, her face hardening towards the man she no longer knew. She watched him walk off, and when he was nearly gone, she squared up her shoulders, a slow whisper floating on the wind, "Good-bye," and then she turned and plodded away, lost in thoughts that were never meant to be.
My post for when they were in the coffee shop. I found it amusing. Bree's eyes warily flicked upwards to watch his face as he readied the cash register for her tutorial. With a sigh, her gaze flicked downwards, to land on the screen. Her fingers flicked against her sides absent-mindedly, before curling into soft fists. As Luke drawled on, she tried to pay attention the best she could, despite the emotionless, cold tone in his voice. Her eyes scanned the contraption carefully, following his fingers as he pointed and tapped at the screen. She was silent for the majority of his lesson, her shoulders hunched up defensively. When he stepped closer to her, she hissed at him(not like a cat lol), and took a step away from him, casting a side-long glare in his direction. Finally, when he asked her if she understood everything, she finally gave a grunt. That would be the best he would get from her. But he seemed...annoyed that she wasn't talking. This caused the anger inside of her to bubble up, urging to spew. He specifically asked her! It was HIS fault she wasn't talking to him. As he sidled away, she rolled her eyes and turned to the cash register. Even the way he walked was different. He strode across the room with such purpose and assurance. This wasn't the Luke she remembered at all. But the thing was, was that this Luke wasn't necessarily bad. It just annoyed her that NOW he acted this way. Perhaps it was her after all. She grunted again, pressing a little harshly at the screen, causing her finger to buckle. She hesitated at the menu items, and then tapped the coဠ†ee button. The coffee she chose was black, with no sugar and cream. It was a fitting choice for this man, she mused. Black and bitter like his soul. And then she pressed the plain donut button, and then the receipt button. She could do this after all, it wasn't too difficult. She cast another side-long glance at his phone, curiosity piquing her interest. But her attention quickly returned to the cash register as the receipt sputtered outwards. She briskly grabbed it, and pressed it down onto the counter alongside him. Hopefully he would look at it, and see the fitting description she had given him. Not like he would really understand it, probably.
Nothing really happened after that 8o justthem being tensed as he taught her stuff.

A few days had passed (a few months irl lol) since Luke and Bree’s somewhat unsuccessful reunion. Luke managed to switch the shifts he had with scheduled with Bree with a coworker, and thus had avoided another confrontation for those few days. Unfortunately for him, today he was unable to get out of the shift, and was stuck working on a quiet evening with his ex-friend. Luckily, she was scheduled to come in two hours later than him, thus giving the boy some time to mentally prepare himself to deal with her.
He served a few customers, wiped down a few tables, paced up and down the store, wringing his hands while he worked to keep his mind off the impending doom. Luke turned up the stereo volume a little bit. Ah, music. His true love. He smiled at the song playing and tapped his fingers on the counter. The shop was empty, and would likely remain so until later this evening, when they would have a local singer come in and play a few Christmas tunes and enjoy some hot chocolate.
A box of Christmas decorations sat at of the store, untouched. Despite Christmas approaching ever so quickly, Luke didn’t feel in the spirit. Of course, they needed to decorate for tonight, but he was saving that job for Bree. So she wouldn’t talk to him… With any luck, that is. Luke shut his eyes and fell into the rhythm of the music, bopping his head along to the drums all whilst he failed to notice the time on the clock. 5:53...

Bree dreaded her job, really. But she couldn't bring herself to quit. She wouldn't allow him the satisfaction of driving her off. No, if anything, she vowed, she would drive him away. She knew they certainly were not enemies, but they certainly were no friends either. Frankly, he was a jerk. It seemed like the roles were reversed. Luke was more confident than ever before, and she...well. He wasn't the same person she had known those previous years. And neither was she.She wasn't boisterous or annoyingly happy-go-lucky with an occasional chirpy voice. She as serious and tight-lipped, avoiding confrontational all costs. She couldn't help the fact that he sunk into an impending doom mode when he saw her face, but other than that, she wasn't much of a bother.
She entered the shop warily, and momentarily paused at the sight of Luke bobbing his head to the music, which, she concluded, was up a little too high. A look of sheer terror crossed her face and she took a step back. The emotion quickly dissapeared, but left her face drained of color. She hadn't expeced him to be here today...With a sharp intake of breath she edged towards him, and hesitated whe she was on the opposite side of the counter. And there she waited for him to notice her, and command her on what to do. Her hands clrnched int fists as the coor continued to seep away from her face.

Yeees Alright, I think it will too ^^ Perhaps! They really are stubborn souls. I was thinking about it a few minutes ago, and it seemed due to the posts, that Luke did not believe her when she said those things, and thought she had an ulterior motive or something 8o. So maybe, eventually, we could think about that it terms of a solution. But I enjoy role-playing them fighting and drama and stuff, so maybe they shouldn't rekindle that soon 8o

The music Luke was bopping along to brought a smile to his face, momentarily drawing the boy out of his current situation and bringing him back to his happy place, college. He missed the ‘ding’ of the bell indicating a visitor, or in this case, an employee. The song drew to a close, and Luke opened his eyes to be greeted by Bree. The smile melted off his face as fast as the song faded out. Ugh, was it 6 already?
The boy’s eyes narrowed and his mouth twisted into a disgusted frown. Of course, he knew she had been coming, but it didn't make dealing with her any easier. He crossed his arms over his chest and jutted his chin in the direction of the box of Christmas decorations. “You can put up the decorations,” he said coldly. His green eyes glazed as he stared at the decorations, then flicked his eyes to Bree’s for a brief moment before he turned his back to her. “I’ll man the register.”

Bree merely tilted her head when he turned to face her and bark out an order. When he finished talking, she paused to observe him before she rolled her eyes and scowled back at him. She decided to ignore his harsh voice, and instead turned around and walked over to the box of ornaments by the window. With a sarcastic smile, she leaned down and started to rummage through the box, an intent look upon her face.
Truly, she didn't know who he thought he was with the nasty looks and cold voice he had been given hr. Surely he wasn't such a child that he was still so consumed in the past that he had to treat her like that! Shouldn't she be the most upset, and thus, treat him as horribly as he was treating her? But no, she was treating this situation like a mature adult would, Or at least she believed so. As she started to take the ornaments out of the box, and occasionally place one where it belonged, she would occasionally turn and dart a glance in his direction, a curious frown gracing her features.
And she would continuously berate herself for acting as such. Although she personally held no romantic feelings, or rather any feelings altogether towards the man, she still couldn't help but drag her gaze over to him once more. It was true he had broken her heart, so to speak, and thus made her mind resort in frantically scrambling all of her feelings towards him and discarding it into some dark recess of her mind. In a way, she was thankful for this. At least she could look at him and not break down over what they had, or could have had. And frankly, she didn't even care. No, she consoled herself. The only thing she felt when she turned to the man that was once her friend was bitterness, wariness, and fear. She didn't knoe him anymore, and consequently, he didn't even know her. Not like they had even known each other before this darned mess even started. His fault, she reminded herself.
And so, with one last withering glance in his direction, she turned away. He didn't deserve one ounce of her attention. Flicking her hair over her shoulder, she continued decorating the store with the ornaments, softly humming a lively Christmas tune. No, he wouldn't ruin her holiday spirit, either. If he wanted to be a slimy grinch, then so be it. Although, unfortunately, that was an insult upon the Grinch himself.
