Luke listened to her speech -- yes, he actually listened and understood each word -- while an unimpressed scowl sat firmly and unmoving on his face. He listened as she recited everything she had said back in the day, with ‘a liar because’ in front of each phrase. And once, while she was reciting what seemed to be a pre-written speech, he looked down at his phone--specifically the clock, as if to say, ‘how long are you going to keep talking?’ Well, here’s the deal. If Bree thought her long af speech with a whiney tone and petty undertones would impress or move him, she seriously underestimated the stubbornness of this boy. When she had finally exclaimed her last outburst, he watched her with a cold, icy green stare for a long moment Long enough to be awkward in any other circumstance. “Yes, you see,” he said calmly, or at least, it sounded calmly--he had reached that point of anger where he felt a sereneness in the anger itself, kind of like the eye of a storm. “That is exactly what I’m saying. You’re a liar for all those things. You lied straight. to. my. Face. all those months ago.” He ended his debate there, and said no more, though he did ponder her last words. It was true, he didn’t really know her at all. Not now, not then either. No argument there. He shrugged to himself and crossed his arms. But what was her point?

Bree blinked, her eyes narrowing further. After he finished his last sentence, a silence hung around them. And although she was having a face off with Luke once again, she felt more at peace than she had earlier. At least FINALLY she understood what was going on. When he had left her all those months ago, she had no idea why. She could only believe it had been because she had raised her voice at him. After what seemed like hours of drawn out silence to her, she finally whispered. "And what would have benefited me for lying?" By continuing this conversation, she knew, he would hate her even more. "I liked you because I saw that you were kind. That you were interested in similar things that I was..." she hesitated, before continuing. "What would I have received if I lied to you? Were you the most handsome guy in school? Did you do sports? Were you the smartest guy? Did you have a lot of money?" The tone of her voice flattened even more. "What could I possibly have benefited from? I spent days trying to get close to you. At first it was because you seemed lonely, and then it was because we became friends. I could have taken just one of those days, and become friends with someone who could actually have given me something." She assessed him with a tilt of her head.
"There were people so much more easy to hang out with, to get close to, that had money, or charms, or something else! But I didn't care about that! I wanted a REAL friendship...." Something, she supposed, had never even happened anyway. It had always been one-sided. And in the end, it had been him that doubted her. "There was nothing I would have received by lying to you. And there was nothing you would have received from me." She took a step away from him. "And if it is because you assume I 'lied' because I am evil, then I guess..." Well, she really had nothing to say. With a sigh, her shoulders drooped. "I do not need to explain myself to you. You can continue to believe whatever falsehoods you want, if it makes you feel any better. Obviously we shouldn't be fighting any more, when there wasn't even a friendship to begin with. Not with how one-sided it had been, and with the feelings you had obviously always harbored for me." She angled herself away, before hesitating and turning back towards him. "And no, don't worry yourself. I am not trying to get back into your good graces. I do not waste my time on someone I do not want to get close to. Someone who acts so...inconceivable such as you." Her face scrunched in a concealed emotion. "And if we were ever to view anyone as evil, it would be you. You claim I toyed with you, but you, sir, are a hypocrite. You toyed with me during that last fight, and left for months without so much as a word. If anyone was in the wrong, it was you." He wouldn't need to worry his pretty little mind, he wouldn't ever have to hear her talk to him again. "I will quite tomorrow, for my sake. I do not need to be treated like this by such a heartless jerk."

Neither do I.... Although he doesn't necessarily have to be knocked off. Even nagging thoughts in his brain would help the situation, I think. But he really should just be knocked off in one go, though. LOL I shall think of something...

Luke uncrossed his arms and clutched at his stomach, face twisted in a frown -- a bit different than before -- less angry, more sad, upset, hurt. He physically winced as she began listing off traits that he didn’t possess. They came across a little different to him though, from Bree’s fairly gentle wording of each traits they came across as something like this to Luke: you are ugly, you are lazy, you are stupid, you are poor. Each like a stab to his gut, they hit a little too close to home. A little too like the excessive teasing he received as a child. Normally, he would be defiant, fight back and defend himself, let the words slide right off him -- they were just words after all… however these words in particular were far too familiar for his liking, and resurfaced ugly memories he had long since removed from his life since he began reforming himself. His self confidence, as little as it was, felt trampled on and vulnerable -- just like it was in high school.
Instinctively, the boy hunched forward protectively and crossed his arms over his chest. He turned away from Bree on an angle while she finished her speech, staring down at the tiled floor because he couldn’t meet her gaze. See, the rest of her speech -- the name calling and accusations, they didn’t bother him to the extent the first half had. He simply shut his eyes, while she spoke, focused on his breathing -- in, out, in, out -- and kept his composure. While her last sentence would have made the boy ecstatic just a few seconds ago, now he just felt nothing -- not triumph, no celebration, just… nothing.
He turned away from Bree completely and took several steps away. The only thing that came out of his mouth was:
“Good.”
wow this took a long time n is v bad

What kind of game was he playing? She couldn't honestly believe he was suddenly hurt, or bothered by the comments she had made? She hadn't berated him in hopes of changing his thoughts. At this point, she believed that never would happen. And when he turned away from her with the simplest of words, her eyes narrowed, and her cheeks flushed in rage. Was he so conceited and hateful that he didn't care what she said to him? With a barely constrained cry of fury, she marched over to him, grabbed him by his shoulders roughly, and whipped him around to face her(or at least tried to). And yes, it was easy to reach her shoulders as she was nearly as tall as he. She raised her hand, and with barely any hesitation, she slapped him as hard as she could, in the face. Immediately she drew her hand back, constraining a hiss of pain. Her hand would probably suffer nearly as much as he. "Who do you think you are? What are you trying to prove by acting like a conceited..." Hmmn...she tried her best not to swear. Another word could suffice. "You are sadly mistaken if you think you are any more attractive by being a j******!" The anger roared once more throughout her, and she continued. No, these verbal assaults were no longer going to be coated in honey. He needed a booting off of his high horse. Something she never thought Luke would have ever needed. "It is your self-absorbed pity that separated us! You ALWAYS were concerned about what someone would do to you, that I, OF ALL PEOPLE, would be entirely evil and lie to you just for the fun of it! But instead, you were hurting me! You turned into someone that you so desperately wanted to AVOID!" She seethed at him, and although she was entirely furious, her voice never rose above a seething 'yell-whisper'. She wasn't concerned if she got fired anymore. And besides, she was certain the shop didn't have cameras, at least where they were standing. "Something could have happened in your past, but wonderful people could have entered your future!" She nearly took a step away from him, and then decided against it. She stood there, daring him to yell back at her, or smack her like she had him. He was surely tempted, she bet. "You never wanted to fix what you caused between us! And for that, I will always despise you." Her eyes continued to narrow. "Nonetheless, I treated you with respect that the old Luke had deserved. Even if you hurt me, or you don't deserve it now. And you were nothing but cruel to me. You turned into someone that you were always afraid would hurt you." She whispered in finality. "I demand you treat me civilly, like you would a stranger. It is the least we can do for what I(extreme emphasis) thought we had!"

One moment he was walking away from Bree, never, ever to look back again, and the next he was being whipped around (against his will). Everything happened so quickly, though it seemed to happen in slow motion to Luke. A hand flying at warp speed towards his face, a numbness in his cheek followed by a terrible stinging sensation. His body instinctively recoiled at the pain, his hand reaching gingerly for his injured and likely very red cheek. Had she /hit him/? /Hit him/? Her verbal assaults had turned into /physical assaults/. In utter shock and awe, the boy let his jaw go slack and fought back a yelp of pain. A tear welled up in his eye on the side of his face where his cheek had been assaulted. Unable to process what happened, he allowed the little drop to roll down until it hit the hand that cradled his injury.
It was several, several moments before the boy fully realized what had happened, and once he did… oh boy. The slap seemed to knock any sort of hurt he had been feeling from her previous words right off the boy. First, came the confusion. Why had she hit him? She had asked him to be civil, was he not acting civilly? Instead of spewing out hateful words as she did, he had simply chosen to bite his tongue and keep any response he gave short and to the point. Really, who was the uncivil one here? Resorting to violence? Civil. Not. With no trace of sadness left behind, an overwhelming feeling of anger quickly drowned the confusion he felt. Balling both hands into fists, even the one that rested on his cheek, the boy turned away from Bree, /again/, in an attempt to compose himself. Deep breaths. In, out, in, out. Luke clenched his fists so tightly they shook.
When she spoke to him in her furious whisper-yell, he didn’t bother to turn around, only half-heartedly listened with growing anger every time she insulted him. One thing she said, though, drew an angry ‘HA’ from the boy. “If you think I care if you find me attractive, you are sorely mistaken,” he interjected calmly though his voice had an edge that gave away his act.
After she had finished speaking, he almost walked away. Almost. Almost upheld his decision to not talk to her anymore, but he just couldn’t. Her last sentence caused him to snap. He unclenched his fists and spun around, glaring at the girl with seething green eyes. “Treat /you/ civilly? /You/? I’m sorry, did you not just /slap me/? Do you consider that behaviour /civil/?!” he hissed furiously, gesturing wildly with his hands. He went to turn around again and walk away, not wanting to hear her bullshhhh answer but stopped himself. No. He had more to say. He had to sit through her many speeches, she had to listen to one of his.
“And /STOP/ speaking about me like you know me. You have /no idea/ who I am. Not then. Definitely not now. I /LIKE/ who I am now. Do you understand /how long/ it’s taken to get to this point in my life? I /LIKE/ the people who are in my life now. I have /no regrets/ and I wouldn’t change /ANYTHING/. I’m sorry that I hurt you but I /DON’T CARE/ what you think of me now. I /finally/ like myself and that’s all I’ve ever wanted.” His voice started off dripping with anger with wild hand gestures but softened when he reached his apology and he ended up trailing off quietly at his final sentence. He frowned, upset with himself and finally spun around for good, not wanting to see or hear Bree’s reaction. He’d had enough. This was it.
im too lazy to do the italics anything surrounded by /xxx/ is supposed to be italicized
