Stormfury sighed. "I suppose not, but it's hard. Being back here in a way it feels like nothing has changed....but I suppose everything has." He glanced at Thistlestalk "I'm sorry for snapping at you. I've never been the most patient cat."
Silverspirit smiled and gave the tom a comforting nudge. "Of course he will. Stormfury's temper rolls in like a thunderstorm, and clears up just as quickly. I wouldn't be surprised if he's already over it, just too stubborn to come back here."

Fallowmeadow sat anxiously near the edge of the rocks, keeping watch for Swiftstar and her daughter.
Sandfall was grooming his fur, grumbling as his mouth quickly filled with the taste of smoke.
Wolfstep was patrolling the area, searching for any sign of Hazelear.
Jasmineheart was sitting alone, her muzzle wet with tears as she mourned the loss of her mother.

“How could she be dead?” Furyflame hissed, her mourning expelled as sharp anger. The brown she-cat paced near Jasmineheart’s side, Stormsplash just as silent and solemn near his sisters.
“How could they have taken her away from us? I’ll...I’ll...” She trailed off, having no one to take her anger out on.

After a moment he looked back towards WindClan and the rest of the forest, watching black smoke continue to drift towards the sky. "I wonder if the other patrols made it to the clans in time." He wondered aloud. Silverspirit gave a small smile, thinking back to Sandfall's comment earlier. Is he right? she thought to herself. Is there something more here with Eclipsesky? She glanced over at the medicine cat, trying to read his mind. |

Thistlestalk nodded grimly "I hope they did. The fire already went through skyclan territory it looks like, so hopefully Cardinalblaze and Cliffheart are okay."
Eclipsesky narrowed his eyes slightly "Why are you staring at me like that?" he asked, nudging her gently. "You look like you just took a trip to Starclan or something."
Jasmineheart flattened her ears as her sister yelled, "You shouldn't speak of Starclan like that. They can't control the things twolegs do, they probably didn't see it coming. T-they'll help us when we need it. They'll help us find food."

“...Furyflame has a point.” Splashstone murmured deeply, not looking at either of his sisters as he grazed his claws into the stone beneath his paws.
“I wouldn’t be surprised, if they punish us for our blood. They wouldn’t help half-clans, they wouldn’t help our mother.”
Furyflame seemed to falter at that, wanting to argue with her brother. It didn’t matter who their parents were! They were loyal warriors! And yet...nothing had saved Rainfeather. She had broken the code...What if they didn’t accept her? Her anger returned at the thought, and she lashed her tail silently.

Stormfury nodded. "I hope everyone makes it back alright....and I hope we'll be able to get back to camp soon. It's going to take moons to rebuild."
Silverspirit shook her head. "Just thinking." she murmured, meeting the tom's eyes. "I really like spending time with you..." she trailed off, confidence wavering.

Swiftstar slowed as he reached the Highstones camp. He turned to Harewhisker and Dashclaw, checking to make sure they had followed alright.
Frostpetal was pacing slowly and nervously. Had Harewhisker been gone too long? What if something had happened?

Thistlestalk grumbled under his breath, "You can say that again. I'd be surprise if any of the dens and nests are salvageable. At least it's newleaf now. We won't be shivering in the cold leaf-bare air while working."
Eclipsesky felt his chest tighten at the she-cat's words, he felt the same but was worried where this conversation was going. He was a medicine cat! "I-I like spending time with you too Silverspirit."
Fallowmeadow perked up when she saw Swiftstar, getting to her paws she ran towards her mate. Her face falling when she realized Cloverleaf was not behind him.

Had Harewhisker been gone too long? What if something had happened? “Oh thank Starclan.” Blacktail sighed with deep relief, counting off the last of the warriors. He moved to pad down towards the leader and the tunnelers, watching Fallowmeadow do the same. |

Dashclaw was coughing pretty badly by the time they made it to Highstones. Harewhisker walked beside his brother, supporting him, but his ears with back in anger.

Stormfury nodded. "Most of the trees will be burned, we'll be living like WindClan." He shook out his pelt, suddenly embarrassed. "It'll be fine." He said quickly.
Silverspirit smiled and flicked her tail lightly, unsure of what to say next. She didn't want to scare the tom off, or ruin their friendship, but...... she turned away to look across the camp, eyes falling on Stormfury and then Sandfall. Her brothers would kill her if anything happened to Eclipsesky, and yet...

Swiftstar coughed as he turned back to his mate and deputy padding towards him. He would worry about Harewhisker and Dashclaw later, he had more pressing matters to attend to. He padded towards Fallowmeadow first, pressing against her. "I'm so sorry Fallowmeadow....I tried...I got to her but it was too late." He coughed again, his chest tight with smoke.
Frostpetal padded over to Harewhisker as fast as her belly would allow. "Harewhisker! You're alright! I was getting worried!" she said, pressing against her mate.

Thistlestalk sighed, laying his head on his paws as he looked out into the smoke filled air. "Bad things aren't supposed to happen in new-leaf. New-leaf is the time of prey returning and new kits." He stopped as his mind moved to Stormfury's mate "I hope the camp is fixed before Cherryvine has her kits."
Eclipsesky followed Silverspirit's gaze towards Stormfury, frowning as he saw the tom talk amicably with Thistlestalk. "It's weird seeing him look happy with someone else." he mewed quietly. "Sorry for changing the subject."

"I'm fine." Harewhisker rumbled a purr when Frostpetal came to him. He pressed against her. "We managed to save the rabbit-brain, Dashclaw got lost in the tunnels." He shot his brother a hardened look, but Dashclaw couldn't meet his gaze. He just walked away, head and tail low.

Stormfury nodded. "Me too...I don't want the first thing my kits see to be destruction and soot." He sighed. "I suppose though I should just be happy she made it out alive."
Silverspirit nodded. "I know what you mean." she said with a sigh "He never seemed happy here...but it hurts more watching him do well in ShadowClan...like we weren't good enough. Or like we were the problem."
Swiftstar dipped his head. "The tunnel collapsed Fallowmeadow, I'm sorry." He pressed against her. "I did all I could but I couldn't her her out...I couldn't get either of us out." He gazed into his mate's eyes. He didn't want to announce that he'd lost a life to the whole clan, but he hoped she would pick up his meaning.
Frostpetal sighed. "I'm just glad you're safe...I was so worried." she turned to watch Dashclaw pad off. "You shouldn't be so hard on him...he wasn't the only cat to get turned around in the flames. He was just lucky enough to have you come after him."

Thistlestalk shook his head, slowly releasing a breath. "So many of our warriors died." he mewed quietly, trying not to let any Windclan cats hear. "This is unlike anything I've ever seen."
Eclipsesky flicked his tail trying to rid himself of the jealously that was growing as he watched the two toms. "Why weren't we enough Silverspirit? I know he didn't leave by his own choice but why was he so unhappy here?" the small tom lowered his gaze, regret replacing the jealousy. "I should have been a better friend."
Fallowmeadow pressed her face into his shoulder, staying there for a moment before pulling away with a shaky breath. "Did you go with her?" she murmured quietly. "Are you okay?"

But it still doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt. I know it hurt you too.” Fallowmeadow licked Swiftstar’s ear, guiding him forward into the camp. “You should rest my dear. Your voice sounds so rough. Maybe I should go get Eclipsesky or Dawnshadow.” She mewed, trying to push her grief away for now to care for her mate. |

Grasslight coughed thickly, though her eyes were wide with relief and desperation as she ran over towards her mate. Her breath choked up as she pressed to him, her eyes closing tightly. "Oh, you-...I thought I had lost you! I thought I was...Starclan." She sobbed out. Antpaw and Weaselpaw scrambled over as well, Soarpaw taking up the rear with slower steps, though his eyes spoke of his relief. |
