BloodroseKai did as told, holding the small animal gently, so he wouldn't drop her. His lonely blue orb looked down at Bonnie's bright ones. Feeling a little proud of himself, he smiled down at the border-collie for another moment before his head turned to watch Manse clean a little. The smaller man said as he looked around "This place isn't so bad. I like small homes, more than big ones." When Kainder was young, he pretty much lived in a cardboard box. So anything was better than that to him. Looking down at the puppy again, he asked curiously "How long have you been living here?" 'Two months,' The male replied, smiling sheepishly. 'I'm still settling in... hence the mess.' He finished tidying and walked over, feeling proud of the author for holding Bonnie, who was still perfectly behaved. 'Since it's only me, the smaller home is appreciated.' He added, 'otherwise it would simply be too much for me to tidy.' He chuckled, scratching a spot on Bonnie's stomach, one of her back legs eagerly kicking at the air.

Bloodrose"So you're new here?" Kai asked the obvious "I wouldn't know either way, because I don't get around the entire city too much. I... erm... I'm really into my stories. Always writing..." Honestly, he meant he was paranoid about certain creatures. Especially those wolven fiends. When Manse scratched Bonnie's stomach, he smiled when she eagerly kicked the air. As they watched, he said "Maybe she's going to be that rare canine that actually likes me. Usually, they always chase me. A shop owner's chihuahua chased me out of the store once!" It looked hilarious, but that chihuahua was out for blood that time. After a moment of reliving the embarrassing memory, he suggested "Maybe we can make time to meet up in the near future? Meet somewhere around town?" Kai needed more friends, so why not? Perhaps it would be interesting to actually get to really know Manse, and the other way around.

Manse replied, trying not to think about where- and who- he'd came from. 'I like you,' he'd said, and was grateful his outburst of words were covered up by Kai's story. He smiled and nodded as he told him, wearing an amused expression at he mental imagery in his head at that moment. He began to walk to his kitchen, hiding a smile at Kai's suggestion; 'like a date?' He teased, opening his fridge to see if he had any food in there. Mostly meat, a little bit of veg, and some cheap micro-meals.

BloodroseIf Kai had been drinking something, he would've done a spit-take at Manse's tease. Finding even more, sudden, interest in Bonnie, he decided almost shyly "If you want to look at it like that... sure." Of course it wouldn't actually be a date, more or less. He definitely wouldn't mind though, honestly. Actually liked the idea of calling it a date. Kainder went to settle down with Bonnie on a couch, gently petting the small bundle's head. As he did, Kai found himself asking "Is that leading toward a yes for you?" Date or not, Kai just needed to get out more. Meet new people like he technically was now. His uncle said the exact opposite, that he might make friends with a monster. That one night though. Kai thought he could see the creature glaring, fangs bared. But when his uncle shot it, it had been a dead man on the ground. Perhaps he'd just been a little boy who hallucinated, like his parents and therapist said? A boy who just thought a mean man with a knife was a "scary monster" with sharp teeth. Uncle Kingston insisted he hadn't been wrong though... And he usually was right about things. Kainder still had the silver knife the burly male gave him, pure silver, tucked away at his apartment. He never had to use it though. Kai looked down at Bonnie, as if the cute puppy would have answers. All she did was be cute, and that unfortunately didn't help. He hesitantly set the puppy down, asking as he did "Can I use your faucet? I need to rinse this bandana of mine." Yeah, that fabric of two layers (bandana and bandages) needed to be cleaned every now and then along with what was under, because what was under never... healed correctly, and still oozed fluids when it got on the dry side, dirtying the fabric. Kai rubbed the left of his face, itching a little. Allowing Bonnie to perch on his leg, he continued with a tiny smile "I see fit as a guest to ask before doing." Usually he'd be doing this at home, but it was uncomfortable right now and it would be stupid to wait until he actually did get home.

(Ewww XD I'm intrigued) Manse smiled widely, glad that Kai couldn't see it as he rummaged through his fridge. 'A date it is then.' He purred, feeling satisfied. 'I'll take you out for a meal tomorrow night, I get off work at 6. I can pick you up for 7.' He finally pulled out a steak which he figured he could just grill for his dinner, starting to remove it from the box. He glanced up as Kai asked the question; 'of course you can use it. You don't need to ask.' He chuckled, finding his polite behaviour quite endearing.

Bloodrose"Sounds like a plan," the author said with a small nod. Kai gently scooted Bonnie off of his leg before getting up. As he did, he untied his wrappings as he walked to the faucet. A moment or two of pause occurred before he finally removed the bandana and bandages. The wound was over a decade old, yet it looked fresh. The bandana had been playing blanket to an eyeless socket, torn flesh and slightly exposed bone, a tiny layer of skin trying to grow over it. Yet, God seemed to be watching over him, and let him live. Why though, he'd never understand. What gave him such markings was dead now, thanks to his uncle, but had Kingston been a moment later, that thing would've bitten half his face off. Had it been a normal animal, he probably would've died. One never knew with animals like his attacker. The weak facial muscles twitched slightly at the sudden change in temperature, used to being covered up. Sighing, he got to work. Rinsing the bandana and throwing away the bandages. After, he ran water over the nasty mutilation, purring mentally at the pleasure of reliving the drying flesh. Kai had ointment, but it was at his house. So, water would have to do. Was Kai aware Manse could see? Of course. However, his wound itched and hurt, and he couldn't leave it alone.

Was Kai aware Manse could see? Of course. However, his wound itched and hurt, and he couldn't leave it alone. Manse flinched the second he saw the wound, eyes swinging away instantly from it, heart pounding in his chest. Had he just discovered why Kai had a fear of canines? He swore in his head at how terrible the wound was, shakily turning on his grill and taking a plate out of the cupboard. Why did it look fresh? As if, just moments ago, he'd been attacked? It didn't make sense to Manse, and he shakily took a knife to his steak to remove the fat. He'd always been a picky eater. 'Better?' He asked, not about to let something like a wound turn him away from the man.

Bloodrose"More or less," Kai decided, wringing out the bandana before tying it over his wound again "Sorry you had to see it though. It wouldn't have let me wait until I got home to tend to it." Walking back to the couch, picking up Bonnie (with difficulty), he sat back in his spot. A moment passed, and Kai spoke again, as if reading his mind "It was a... person that did it. Real messy with his knife... I..." He trailed off, not event wanting to attempt his lie for the billionth time. People never believed the real story. Not even his parents, who tried to dump him in a mental hospital. His uncle plucked him out though, and became his guardian until he went off to college (he graduated super early). As if an attempt to continue his explanation, he spoke "I... the abnormal story usually gets me recommendations to the nearest ward, you know? I tend to get... detailed..." Kai fidgeted, wondering why he was even trying to explain his crazy story to someone he just met.

Hm. Well. In my characters' canon verse, they're all sort of involved in this mob-like group and I'd imagine the whole demon trope would play into that nicely. Anyway I'm good with any timeframe but the most likely place for my characters to be would probably some luxurious mansion a short distance away from a big city/mob's base of operations. Sound like something you'd be interested in?))

Manse murmured, gazing into the male's good eye. He felt cold, as though someone had dropped winter early, except only in his flat. 'Abnormal story?' He quietly inquired, tilting his head slightly as he placed his steak on the grill, watching it carefully.

Manse questioned, removing his rare-cooked steak from the grill and turning it off, moving over to sit opposite from Kai. 'That depends on what you classify as a monster.' He said, slicing his knife into the meat and slipping a piece into his mouth. Bonnie wiggled out of Kai's grip to sit between Manse's feet, staring up at the food with wide puppy eyes as she whined. 'Not for little puppy stomachs.' Manse told her.

Bloodrose"It was a monster to me, so that's what makes it one," Kai muttered. Now, to answer the comment. He went quiet for a minute before continuing "It... was a... um... werewolf?" His lonely blue orb watched Manse, waiting for the common reaction everyone had. It was just a dog, or he was hallucinating, blah blah blah. Kai would wait to see how he reacted before deciding to tell him the entire story or not. The author found sudden interest in his hands, playing with his fingers nervously.

'were you with anybody?'

Bloodrose"Bitten?? That thing mauled me!" Kai grumbled, brow bending. Collecting himself, he continued "I was little, maybe four? I liked to play out back with our Great Dane, Rodney. Stupid like I was, I went out at night to see if he would play with me. No one had been with me. My parents were on a business trip, and my uncle was upstairs watching TV." He narrowed his eye in thought, actually flinching a little as he recalled everything. Kai almost seemed nervous to continue. Manse was probably thinking of a "sane" explanation already.

Perseus Uriel FernorPercy, Perce 19 // male // pan
Plenty of humans are monstrous; plenty of monsters know how to play at being human.
- cheerful, humorous
- bold
- innovative
- persuasive, eloquent
- selfish
- obsessive
|
|
I give you Perseus, featuring horns, a crown and a not-so-fancy form I stole from my character storage. I was going to type him up nicely, but this is the third time I'm doing this because my web page keeps crashing and the code is being fussy and I'm just not going to keep fighting it at this point. Also, because there weren't any kind of guidelines regarding what kind of monster to use, I just kept the race he was created for - the Tathile. If you want a thorough run down I'll track down my notes, but for now have the quick facts.
- race - Tathile. people - Tathilian.
- appearance - human + 1/2 mark(s) (horns, reptilian eyes, fangs, etc)
- have the ability to cast glamours. mostly used to disguise themselves and live among humanity but also to create intricate illusions. power runs in families, so 'purer' families are generally stronger
- slightly faster + stronger than the average human but not superhumanly so
- have lived with humanity for a little over two centuries but still have their own rule, laws and communities separate from humans
If you have any problems with anything I've mentioned, let me know. and if you had something in mind, Percy is among my more versatile and flexible characters so I'm sure that would work too.
