Weaselstride wanted to say that she was similar in that regard, having never really seen any cat in such a way. But, she was afraid it would sound weird to him. It made her feel strange, when her brothers would gush over other cats and she just… didn’t. She tried her best though, Palegaze seemed nice enough.
“I remember. She sounds like she had been a great mother. It’s rare for cats to switch professions, though Cobblepaw keeps swearing that he’a going to train in both.” She mused, humored by Cobblepaw’s boldness, not realizing just how serious Cobblepaw was.

Jaykit blinked at Ravenkit's sharp response, unsure on how exactly to respond to him. She sat down and tilted her head at him, perhaps he was upset with her for running into him earlier, "I'm sorry about bumping into you. I'll try and be careful next time." she mewed. Jaykit shuffled her paws awkwardly, her eyes catching sight of some stray moss and she batted at it absentmindedly, wondering what she could do to show Ravenkit that she wasn't so bad.
Eaglekit and Morningkit were play fighting outside the nursery with Soulspirit watching them not far from the entrance of the nursey, a small purr rumbling in her chest as she watched her kits play.
Crowfrost groomed his fur quietly after finishing a rabbit, enjoying some peace and quiet.

“Ravenkit’s always got a thorn in his fur.” Bouncekit announced as he noticed Jaykit’s response to the prickly tom. The energetic kit pouted bravely at the older kit, who only hissed back.
“You wouldn’t understand!” Ravenkit snapped, lashing his tail. He turned his head pointedly. Bouncekit always had Cinderscar coming in and doting on him and his siblings. He felt envy coil in him, and he scoffed. “I’ll be an apprentice soon anyway, and far away from all of you.”
“Not until we become apprentices after you.” Bouncekit smirked, before he called to Jaykit. “Wanna play mossball?”
Roostkit slept quietly at Soulspirit’s side, as he often did. He was always a very heavy sleeper.

"She was," he said, his eyes squinting in a small smile. "I miss her terribly. She was an incredible cat, and an even more incredible mother." Palegaze enjoyed the chance to speak of Pansyfoot; by keeping her memory alive, it felt as if she'd live on. "I certainly inherited her frame, though. I mean, have you ever seen a tunneler as tall and long-legged as me?" He joked.

sure! I can make a starter.)
Jaykit turned to look at Bouncekit and smiled. At least he seemed pretty friendly. "Okay. Will you show me how to play?" She mewed, standing up.

Palegaze gasped in mock surprise. "Was that a joke?" He chuckled. "Weaselstride, you've been holding out on me!"
He nodded then, curling his tail around his side and moving closer to the wall of the hollow as the sun moved overhead. "I did hit my head a lot, actually, when I was first apprenticed. It only got worse as I kept growing! But I got used to it, and being so skinny means I can fit into really tight spaces, so that's a plus."
He tilted his head. "Why do you think you became a tunneler?"

“It’s mostly by practice. There are some marked tunnels, they’re the most important ones, like the tunnel that leads to Highstones, but most tunnels are pretty much memorized early on. I was lucky enough to have Harewhisker as my mentor, so I learned every tunnel real fast, and really well. I’ll make sure you do too.” Siltpath promised with a small purr. “You flatter me.” Soarshadow mewed gently, a small chuckle escaping him, before he sauntered after the scent trail. A part of him hoped that Ivyvine’s eyes would be on him, secretly enjoying any attention the other tom wanted to give him. Larkpaw smiled as she bounced along beside him, "I know you will." she mewed cheerily, before nearly falling into an unexpected hole in the ground. She yelped, taking a step back and examining the cave-in "I found one!" Ivyvine tried to ignore the heat of the blush washing over him as he hurried after Soarshadow, his eyes not leaving the other tom's pelt until the chirping of nearby birds pulled him from his thoughts. His eyes flickered back to Soarshadow's face as he dropped into a hunter's crouch. "Together?"

"Sure! I know a bunch of games." Bouncekit bragged with a friendly little chirp, quickly scampering over to the ball of moss and pulling off a smaller ball. He batted it, before he rolled it to Jaykit. "Now, you just roll it back over to me, see?" He inquired.
Ravenkit watched them with narrowed eyes, secretly wanting to play mossball as well, but not wanting to be anywhere near Jaykit or her sisters. Bouncekit was a loudmouth anyway.
"I can make plenty of jokes." Weaselstride snorted, ears flicking before she listened to Palegaze's last words and gave a thoughtful look. "Well... I guess that I just liked the cool and quiet places. There wasn't wind constantly pushing at my pelt, and it's alot more organized. I liked that." She admitted.
"Ooh! Watch your step!" Siltpath exclaimed, quickly rushing over to inspect her paw, and then the cave-in. He mewed. "Is your paw alright? That could have been a bad snag. Good work on finding one of them though! It's a perfect place to start." Siltpath nodded.
"I wouldn't have it any other way." Soarshadow teased, bright eyes flickering over to one of the birds as he motioned with his tail that he would circle around. The dark mottled tom began quietly slinking around the moorland in a wide circle, trusting that Ivyvine would lead them to him.

"Fair enough," he admitted. "I also like how dark and cool it is. And my fur's thin so the wind really cuts through me when it's cold."
Palegaze cast a bleary look into the sky, at the sun as it inched further overhead. Soon it'd be directly above the camp and he'd have no shade to shelter under. He sighed.
"Speaking of dark, I'll probably have to go on another patrol soon. Can't be in the sun too long," he finished.

I don't have another patrol until late tonight, and I wouldn't mind helping out on another one." Weaselstride offered, not so much because she felt any pull to, but more so because she wanted to show her dedication to the Clan. Training at night wasn't enough, she needed to feel like it was paying off, too.

Alright.” Weaselstride blinked, suddenly realizing this would be the first time she led a patrol as a Warrior. She knew she had to take it seriously. She flicked her tail in a signal for him to follow her. “Should we go alone, or invite some others?”

Palegaze followed dutifully, noting with mild amusement her tail signal. So serious! he thought.
"Hmm, I'm fine either way," he meowed. "I don't think ShadowClan would really try anything; they're not much for open-ground hunting anyways. What do you think?"

"No, my paw is fine Siltpath." she replied honestly, before taking another look at the ground. "So, what's first?" Ivyvine watched him slink through the undergrowth until he disappeared, counting in his head to ten before he darted out through the heather directly at the small flock of birds. He leapt at the nearest one as they begun to take off, slamming it's small body into the ground as his claws hooked in it's wing. He looked up triumphantly, waiting to see if Soarshadow had caught one as well.

It’s pretty warm out, I think a cooler option is better.” She admitted, grateful for the cool tunnels. “As for Shadowclan, who knows what they’d be willing to do…”

He shook his head, focusing back on the tunnel. “First, we’ll clear out the collapsed section. Then, we’ll pick a spot a bit deeper in the tunnel to begin the blocking process. We’ll use the cleared dirt to cleanly fill up from the plug spot to the tunnel entrance until the tunnel can no longer be accessed.” He explained. Soarshadow crouched low, before a burst of speed drove him into a rapid dash towards one of the birds flying towards him. He leaped up, grunting as he snagged one of the birds in his claws. Pulling it down, he pinned it beneath his paws, biting down to give the finishing blow.

"As you say," Palegaze meowed, following her into the delicious relief of the shade of the tunnel. Even the short walk from the camp to it left his fur uncomfortably warm. "ShadowClan's a proud bunch. I think it probably took everything in Cedarstar not to clobber Lightningstar for saying all that stuff, knowing how many cats ShadowClan lost." He snorted. "I know I would have."

"I know I would have." “I couldn’t blame them for that either. Cedarstar’s pelt was practically burned off at the gathering. As much as I dislike any Clan just taking over Fourtrees, I don’t like Thunderclan anymore than Shadowclan. A part of me kind of thinks we should just lay claim to Highstones for the same reason.” Weaselstride shrugged, voice calm and thoughtful. “With how many cats both Thunderclan and Shadowclan lost, it’s no wonder they’re at eachother’s hides.”

Palegaze let out a humorless, quiet chuckle. "ShadowClan and ThunderClan have been at each others' hides for generations, long before you, me, or their leaders or elders were even born."
He padded after Weaselstride, keeping his nose to her tail. "WindClan is blessed as we are. Yes, there are tensions with other Clans, but they also respect us as the closest to StarClan."
"Which..." he added. "Is why we couldn't claim Highstones, anyway. I think StarClan would be displeased."

Weaselstride shrugged lightly, not wanting to tell him that she had never had much of a powerful faith in Starclan like many others did. She didn't want to make him weary, so instead she hummed. "I suppose we'd be no better than them though, if we start claiming neutral territory." She relented.

"Mm, I think Highstones is more holy than neutral," he said. "But I won't pretend to know what they think. I'm no medicine cat or spiritualist, myself," Palegaze said. He could scent the fresh air and heavy scent of leaves and wafting down the tunnel. "We're just about there. Time passes fast in good company."

Palegaze quirked a brow, confused for a moment. "Yes? I mean, you're a good tunneler and warrior, but you're still new to it so you've got this curiosity about you."
He padded from the gloom of the tunnel, blinking in the sunlight anew. "You're carrying a conversation with me, an interesting one at that. I..." Palegaze frowned for a moment. "Yeah, you're good company. That's kind of awkward now that I've said it out loud, huh? I don't really have any close friends outside of Eclipsesky; sorry."

"I... also don't have any close friends besides my brothers, either, so. This is all kind of new to me." She shrugged, trying to play it off. She did appreciate his compliments though.

"Well, that actually makes me feel a lot better," Palegaze chuckled. "We can figure it out together, socially-awkward-tunneler-to-socially-awkward-tunneler."
He darted from the tunnel to a patch of heather near the lip of the FourTrees hollow, crouching out of the sun. "We're here, then," he said.
((To FourTrees!))

Larkpaw's face twisted into a small frown as she didn't fully grasp what Siltpath was saying. "I get the first bit, but I might need a demonstration as we go along. I'll follow your lead and do whatever you do!"
Ivyvine purred as he watched Soarshadow make the killing blow, dropping his own catch at his feet. "As always, nicely done. We do make quite the team if I do say so myself."

We do make quite the team if I do say so myself." "Then we'll have it done in no time." Siltpath winked, before he slipped towards the collapsed tunnel. He started by pulling the largest stones backwards, rolling them to the right in a pile. He spoke as he worked. "The largest material will go closest to the tunnel. This will be our base material to start filling in the entrance. Tunnelers need to work smarter and harder than most cats. Why make it harder for yourself by having to roll large stones father than sand or soil, right?" He offered, remembering Harewhisker's stern but respected teachings. He spoke far more leisurely and gentler than his mentor, but with pure confidence in his own skills. "I'll say so as well." Soarshadow purred warmly, looking at Ivyvine for a long moment before he averted his eyes with an obvious flicker of shyness. He looked at the prey and admitted. "You were impressive, you know. I could watch you hunt or patrol all day, it's always been inspiring."

Larkpaw scampered forward, rolling the large rocks into Siltpath’s pile neatly. She was surprised to find how much easier it was to move the stones compared to when she first became an apprentice. She purred quietly, pleased at her sign of growth.
It was Ivyvine’s turn to flush now, eyes sweeping down to catch his prey by his paws, pelt warm as emotions swirled within him, muddling his brain. He stood silent for a moment before composing himself, raising his head to meet Soarshadow’s easy smile, “Well, now that we’re both warriors, you can join me on patrol any time want.” His tail flicked as he caught sight of the slowly lowering sun over the moon, his eyes tried not to relay their disappointment. “We should head back, I think I am on camp guard duty at moonrise.”
