Larkpaw listened in awe, always eager to hear more about how tunnelers work as a team. "That makes sense, sorry for all the questions Siltpath, I just want to learn everything I can. Tunneling is so exciting!" Ivyvine blinked, taking in his words for a moment before giving a small nod, "Okay." he whispered, matching Soarshadow's quiet tone. "My nest is near the center of camp, it might be nice to have the quiet of the camp wall for a change." He honestly enjoyed being close to the center of camp, he liked watching all the movement around camp. But the thought of having a nest near Soarshadow was too good to pass up, he'd probably go sleep in an abandoned tunnel if Soarshadow had asked him to. “Never be sorry for being curious. I’ll answer any question you can think of, if I have an answer for it!” Siltpath purred with a bright laugh, tapping Larkpaw’s nose with his tail before he admitted. “I’m lucky, really. I know I wasn’t your first mentor, but I really wanna be a good one for you either way.” Soarshadow looked at Ivyvine for a long moment before he finally spoke again. “Well. We could always switch it around. A few nights in my spot, a few nights in yours. Sometimes I like going on the night patrols just to look at the sky. Now that we’re Warriors, I wouldn’t mind doing that with you.” He purred, before he felt his fur warm and he cleared his throat lightly.

Larkpaw smiled, as much as it had pained her to lose Twigtail, she loved her lessons with Siltpath. The Tom was always willing to teach her anything she asked about. “You’re a great mentor Siltpath.” She said genuinely. “I’m lucky to have you as my mentor.”
Ivyvine smiled, the idea of spending nights on the moor with Soarshadow made his heart flutter. Although he couldn’t place a claw on why that could be. “I’d like that. With the weather warming up it would be the perfect time to spend the night out looking up at the stars.” He replied with a purr.

Breezekit smiled at Ravencloud and then heard, eating the last piece. And then the kit took a conclusion: "Depending on my role, all of them serve the clan in one way. And like everyone, I would be glad to serve it." Ravencloud dipped his head, a warm smile on his face "You will be a great service to the clan once you receive your warrior name." He purred "You seem very dedicated. A trait of a fine warrior."

Siltpath chuckled, though he was warmed by Larkpaw's words. He nodded to himself, mewing quickly. "Okay. We're getting pretty close to Outlook Rock. You can tell because the tunnel becomes more rocky as we go along, and Outlook Rock just happens to be the largest rock in this big hill of rocks under here. What can you do when you're digging a tunnel and a big rock is in your way?" He asked, wanting to see how she would handle the obstacle. "I was thinking just the same thing." Soarshadow smiled softly, before he seemed to suddenly avert his eyes. He looked out at the moor past the gorse wall and teased. "I could go for a run, if you think you can keep up." He offered innocently, knowing that he was now able to outrun his mother, and could nearly keep up with Furyflame's incredible speed. He liked running with Ivyvine.

Larkpaw took a moment to think, blinking in the darkness. "Well, if its a really big rock there's no use in spending a lot of time digging it out. You may as well dig along beside it and around it. The rock would make a pretty sturdy tunnel wall wouldn't it?"
Ivyvine stood as soon as the offer was made, stretching out his long legs. His tail swished behind him eagerly, "You know I can never pass up on a race." he replied, looking just as mischievous as the younger tom. The last time they had raced Soarshadow had not been fully grown. He had outrun the younger tom by at least a fox-length. He was very curious to see how much faster Soarshadow had grown now that he had earned his name. "You know the current score is 5 to 4 in my favor, are you going to make it a tie again?"

"That's right! A large rock makes for the perfect tunnel wall." Siltpath praised, inwardly proud at how clever his apprentice was. There was no doubting she would become a great Tunneler. He continued on as they approached the tunnel entrance closest to Outlook rock. "That's a common thing in the tunnels in this area. You'll notice how the walls will go from soft dirt to hard stone, back and forth. A really good tunnel is one that can make use of multiple rocks in one system! The more rock walls you have, the less work you gotta do, and the stronger the tunnel will be." "Why do you think I asked you?" Soarshadow sauntered past the slightly older tom, flicking his muzzle with his long tail, before he gave an innocent purr. "Today I'll even the score. Then, I'll make it in my favor after it's evened out. I've been practicing." He slipped towards the camp entrance, hopeful that Ivyvine would follow.

Larkpaw smiled, holding her head a bit higher as she was praised. "So the tunnels over here are the most stable then?"
Ivyvine was practically on Soarshadow's heels as he followed behind the tom. There was no way he was going to let Soarshadow win without a fair fight. "What makes you think I haven't been practicing too?" Once they were further away from the camp entrance he looked Soarshadow over, realizing how much his friend had changed in a few short moons. Realizing he had probably been looking too long, his gaze snapped down to his paws, ears flicking in embarrassment. "Um, on the count of three?"

Besides the tunnels right into Highstones of course, but Blacktail always referred to them more as just caves, rather than tunnels." Siltpath chuckled. He nudged against one of the rock walls as a show of his meaning. "Feel this here? We're super close. The upcoming entrance, we should be at Outlook Rock." "Oh, I'm counting on it, that you've been practicing." Soarshadow purred, before he gained a more serious look and nodded quickly. "On three. One, two... three!" He exclaimed, bolting into a run as soon as the number left his mouth.

Larkpaw took a moment to stop and feel how the tunnel walls had changed, shivering as the cool stone met her fur. She squeezed her eyes shut as the light from the tunnel entrance appeared, using her whiskers on the side of the tunnel to navigate forward further until she could open her eyes again. She looked at Siltpath expectantly, wondering what was next.
Ivyvine shot off over the moor the second he heard Soarshadow even start to say 'one'. He purred as the breeze whistled along beside him as he ran with all of his might. Long legs pumping as fast as they would go, slender tail waving along behind him.

He purred as the breeze whistled along beside him as he ran with all of his might. Long legs pumping as fast as they would go, slender tail waving along behind him. Siltpath blinked against the bright light at the tunnel entrance, quickly adjusting as he pulled himself up and out of the tunnel. He turned to wait for Larkpaw to follow, the wind blowing through his fur as the field of stones and vegetated rocks spread out around them, with the large jutting of the Outlook Rock against the expansive moorland. The crests of Highstones peaked up from the edge of the territory out farther. Out here, Siltpath was always blown away at the beauty of their Clan, and felt grateful that he was here instead of out at a loner or kittypet. Soarshadow bounded across the moors, pushing energy into his legs each time the moorlands sloped up into hills. He didn't need to glance back at Ivyvine to know the other tom was keeping pace. Soarshadow's slender and lean build made each bound long and quick, though he felt himself more content knowing that he wasn't running alone. He ducked quickly around a stone, before giggling a bit and leaping over the next one that was in his path.

It took Larkpaw a few tries to pull herself out of the tunnel entrance, struggling to find a good paw hold on the solid stone. Once she was up she looked around curiously, mapping out where the tunnel had ended in her mind. "Wow, we're even further from camp than I thought!"
Ivyvine hissed as his foot caught on the stone that Soarshadow had dodged around, he had been so focused on watching Soarshadow he hadn't been looking at the ground. He stumbled, causing Soarshadow to get ahead by a few foxlengths. He righted himself quickly, but the lead was already made and he cursed under his breath as he realized he would probably be losing this time around. Not one to give up though, he continued to run as fast as he could, ignoring the small pang of pain that shot up his leg every time he landed on his front paw.

Not one to give up though, he continued to run as fast as he could, ignoring the small pang of pain that shot up his leg every time he landed on his front paw. "Makes sense, that tunnel's one of the longest continuous ones we have in the Clan! It's been here long before Blacktail was even born. Apparently Wolfstar had this one worked on alot when he was leader. I think he was the leader before Scarstar, who was leader before Swiftstar, according to Rosefeather's stories." Siltpath explained as he tapped his chin with his paw, before he smiled back at Larkpaw. "Okay! So, we're gonna be looking for tunnels to fill in. Can you guess what kinds of things can tell us when a tunnel's not worth keeping?" Soarshadow had only glanced back for a split second, but it was enough to realize that Ivyvine must have snagged his paw on something, with how he seemed to have a gait to his bounds now. Soarshadow's competitiveness easily lost out to his gentle demeanor, eyes flickering with concern as he inevitably slowed down to keep at pace with Ivyvine as he asked softly. "Are you okay? Did you hit your paw?"

Larkpaw grinned as Siltpath talked about the history, Sagefoot had told her many stories of the past leader. "I know about Scarstar! She saved Sandfall from a badger when he was an apprentice! She also told me that Swallowfeather was raised by one of Scarstar's deputies, Cloversong." she mewed proudly. "Now tunnels to fill in, hmmm. Well tunnels that look like they haven't been used should be filled in. Their walls and roof are probably not very well kept and are starting to fall in?"
Ivyvine looked surprised that Soarshadow had willingly slowed down just because he had fallen behind. "Oh, I just snagged it on a rock back there. It'll be fine in a while, just a bit sore." he mewed, panting every few words as they continued to trot over the moor. He gave Soarshadow a small smile, eyes locking on the other toms. "You know, you've really grown up." he mewed quietly. "Neither of us would have checked on each other as apprentices, especially when it would have been an easy win then."

"That's right!" Siltpath nodded his approval, humored and the tiniest bit envious of how much Larkpaw could connect with all of Windclan's history. Everyone's families seemed so interconnected, and yet all he had known of his own kin was conserved only to Mottledsong and Tinyflower, both of which he never was able to spend much time with when he was out tunneling. Even so, he knew it wasn't Larkpaw's fault that she had been born into Windclan, and he had not. Instead, he focused on mentoring her.
"Usually bad tunnels have drafts coming from them that are too strong, which means there's probably unpatched holes in them. Also, the entrances will usually be overgrown, or the supporting sticks and stones will be rotted or cracked. Lastly, if the scents coming from them are too stale, then we'll know that nobody's been using them."
"...Well, I would have-..." Soarshadow's quiet voice cut off as he tried his best to hide how desperately he would have wanted to help Ivyvine if he had been hurt, even when they were apprentices, though his shyness had been too much to let that be clearly seen. Rather, Soarshadow found himself averting his eyes, instead mewing. "You should get it looked at by Eclipsesky or Dawnshadow. We don't have to keep running if it causes you any pain." He offered, knowing now that a win would feel shallow if Ivyvine wasn't at his best. Soarshadow's fur felt warm, as it always had around Ivyvine, since they had first become close all those moons ago.

Larkpaw looked around the moor, wondering where the nearest unused tunnel could be hiding. "I'd be scared to walk across the moor if I didn't know where most of the tunnels were. There are entrances everywhere! The other clans must be very careful when they come to our camp in order to not accidentally fall in. They don't know about tunneling though right?" she asked unsurely.
Ivyvine chuckled, shaking his head fondly as they came to a stop, "You're right you would have, I wouldn't have though. I was too self-centered back then. Just give me a moment to rest and I'll see how it feels, I really did just barely hit it. I was um.. too busy looking at you to look down at the ground." he admitted, licking his chest in embarrassment.

He quickly changed the subject, voice returning to its more bright and casual volume. "That's also why it's important that Moor-Runners are told each time a new tunnel is made, or where not to run in case they tumble in." He explained. Soarshadow was silent for a moment, his fur warming as he felt his heart flutter quickly in his chest. He gave a sheepish look before his eyes flickered shyly to the side. He gathered his courage though, mewing with a soft yet meaningful tone. "Well... who's to say I wouldn't do the exact same, if I were you, and you were me? It's hard not to look at you." Nobody was using it before that, of course, but it's still got openings that a cat could fall into if they're not careful, so we'll start filling it in." Siltpath nodded, padding down the hill beside Outlook rock, where a small opening was visible under a clump of weeds and heather. The ground seemed to slant into where the tunnel collapsed. "Oh! Uh... good! That's good." Soarshadow realized he probably crossed a line, and was desperate to match Ivyvine's energy of changing the subject. "We can keep running if you want, or uh. Try and catch some prey." He offered, turning his head awkwardly.
