"Meadowbrook..." Brownleaf stared at her, trembling. He felt as if his heart was being clawed to shreds. She's a murderer... This couldn't be real, maybe he was dreaming. There's no way she would've killed those cats. He knew her, she was a good cat. He opened his mouth, wanting to say something to her, but no words would come out.

Meadowbrook allowed herself to be corralled out of camp, tail lashing once as she ignored the looks upon her. Windclan would see exactly how divided they truly were, and how Swiftstar’s leadership would drag them all down. She did hesitate for a second as she looked at Brownleaf. “Never doubt my love for you, Brownleaf. I am only sorry, that I could not give you the leadership you deserved.” She gazed at him for another moment, before she turned her head and continued forwards, not an ounce of regret filling her eyes at what she had done.
Blacktail led them along silently, coldly. The usually calm deputy was wrought with loss and anger, at Meadowbrook and at himself. How had he not seen this of his tunneler? He growled deeply. “Make one step out of place and I will show you exactly how “frail” I am.”

Birchstep followed to the left of Meadowbrook, keeping close to her. His eyes were sharp as he looked at her. How could she? He almost dared her to make a move.

Fallowmeadow kept her eyes forward as they started their way through the territory, keeping her ears pointed towards Meadowbrook for any signs of betrayal.

Meadowbrook padded silently, firmly focusing on moving forwards. There was more that could still be done, and the only thing she cared to mourn was the loss of her mate...no matter. Brownleaf was not foolish, and he would surely strive to achieve the goal she had started for him. Now it would be a waiting game, to plan anew. She did not fight the surrounding patrol, almost pitying Birchstep for willing to fall in line in such a clan.

Hickoryfrost looked horrified as Meadowbrook was escorted away. What would have happened if she was never found out? Who would have been next?
Slushfur lashed her tail, baring her fangs as the tunneler left. If that murderer did anything to Blacktail, she would chase her to the Dark Forest herself.
Silverpaw stood protectively in front of Gustpaw, not wanting the moor runner anywhere near Meadowbrook.

“I...I can’t believe she would do such a thing...” Cobblepaw looked up at his mother, his eyes wide with confusion and sadness. Why would a tunneler like her bring such hatred and pain to Windclan?
Rookpaw was far less confused, and far more angry, her tail lashing as she growled. “Are we sure it’s a good idea to let her walk out of the territory, free to do what she wants?”

Slushfur shook her head. “She must have thought tunnelers were being treated unfairly for moons because Swiftstar was a moor runner. Clearly she wasn’t seeing straight to think that... we’ve worked together for moons, despite our differences.” She mewed. “It’s up to her whether she wants to return and get her pelt ripped apart by Swiftstar himself.”
Silverpaw sighed. He never spoke to Meadowbrook much, but now that he knew the truth, he knew she was no real tunneler.
Gustpaw moved close to Slushfur, hoping she would never come back for revenge.

“Father always said that there should never be a divide in the first place...and that Tunneler and Moor-Runner are just names. We’re all Windclan, no matter what we are skilled in.” Cobblepaw murmured, before he looked to the side and decided. “I don’t ever want to be like Meadowbrook. I want to be a Tunneler and a Moor-runner!”

Heathersky pulled her kits closer to her, thinking of Beetleclaw. That mangy she-cat was the reason she had to raise her kits alone, why they would never meet their father. Her and Beetleclaw’s relationship was different and weird but she did love him deep down.

"I... I'm going to go work on the tunnels." Brownleaf rasped quietly. He couldn't handle being in camp, the conversations his clanmates were now having seemed to roar in his ears. It was all too much, he needed to be alone.

Jasmineheart looked at Brownleaf, a sorrowful look in her eyes "Are you sure you want to go alone? I could come with you if you want." she offered softly.

After Meadowbrook was gone from the camp, Swiftstar leaped up onto Tall Rock. He didn't formally address the clan, as they were already out. Instead of standing as he normally did, he chose to sit, and wrap his tail around his paws.
"Cats of WindClan!" he said, ignoring the twinge in his chest. The commotion with Meadowbrook had nearly set him into a coughing fit, but he pushed it away. His clan was more important at the moment. The twinge wouldn't go away, so he let out a small cough in compromise and that seemed to appease it for now. Once he had the clan's attention, he continued.
"Meadowbrook's treachery is unthinkable, and has no doubt come as a surprise to all of us. That being said, I want to eradicate any lies, misconceptions, or rumors that may be lurking under the surface. WindClan is, and always will be, united. We are unlike the other clans in that we do not just have warriors, but are split again into tunnelers and moor-runners. This isn't a weakness, but rather a strength. This strength, however, can only be truly put to use if we all come together and support each other. Meadowbrook, in a way, was right. I'm not a tunneler. I will never truly understand what it is like to hunt beneath the moor. I will never fully understand the danger of tunneling, or the proper way to reinforce the tunnel. The same is true for any moor runner here.
That being said, I am no longer a moor-runner. I am WindClan's leader. As soon as I lost the name Swiftbreeze and took the name Swiftstar, I could no longer only carry the burdens of a moor-runner, but the burdens of tunnelers and moor-runners alike. You are all my clanmates, and I see you all as equals. I would never intentionally do anything to make any cat feel lesser than, or like I didn't care about their well being or their success here in the clan. That being said, it is possible that my ignorance here has lead me to unintentionally make tunnelers feel like I prefer others over them. If that is the case, I can't express how sorry I am. I will do better in the future.
I'll be the first cat to admit that I wouldn't have been StarClan's first choice in a leader. However, I have never been more proud of my clan, nor more confident in our future. In the past moon we have lived through a fire, and an infestation meant to tear us apart from the inside, yet we survive. WindClan will not so easily be shaken. We have lost much, but we have grown together as a clan.
This fire, while mind-numbingly tragic, is also allowing for a new beginning. In the coming days will work to heal both the camp, and the wound left by Meadowbrook, but we can only do that together. I will do all I can to set an example that you would all be proud to follow. WindClan will rise again!"

Eclipsesky stood, eyeing his leader with pride, gazing around the clan he called out "Swiftstar! Swiftstar!" the medicine cat knew with the main divider between the two parts of the clan, they could be one again under Swiftstar's leadership. He had no doubt.
At Eclipsesky's call, Sagefoot, Wolfstep and Sandfall joined into the cheer. "Swiftstar! Swiftstar!"

“Swiftstar! Swiftstar!” Thorndash lifted his head, cheering for his leader with respect. Stonepath and Grasslight joined in, both clearly hurt by the truth of their kin’s murder. Grasslight couldn’t help but glance at Heathersky with sympathy, pained that she would raise her kits without their father.
Splashstone did not join in the cheer, instead gazing heavily at nothing. He stood to his paws and padded towards Brownleaf and Jasmineheart. “I...I will join you as well, if you’ll have me...”
Siltpath looked up at Swiftstar with unsure eyes, not knowing if the leader meant what he said. Did he truly see Moor-Runners and Tunnelers as equals?

Breezefoot called out with a lot of the clan. “Swiftstar! Swiftstar!” He trusted the tom to lead them in the right direction. He was young but he was smart and dedicated.
Heathersky stayed quiet, too engrossed in her own thoughts. She laid her head on her paws, pulling Ravenkit and Ashenkit close. The she-cat has opened her eyes and was trying to climb over her mother.
Fernheart moved to find Dustfire, pressing her pelt to the tom. She wanted to show her support for her mate.
Alderfur nodded and called out the leaders name as well. Meadowbrook’s treachery was horrible but he liked Swiftstar enough.

Ravenkit gave a noise of complaint, his blue eyes flickering up at his sister and mother as they moved around and disrupted his sleep. His spiked fur was messy with sleep, and he dug back into Heathersky’s pelt with a little grumble.

The rest of my cats joined in on the calling.

Brownleaf gave a small, sad smile as his former apprentice and Splashstone offered to join him. "...Sure, you can come with." he replied. He had wanted to refuse but he guessed that it would be better to be distracted by being around a few cats then to be left alone thinking about Meadowbrook.
"Swiftstar!" Hopedawn lifted her muzzle, calling alongside her clanmates.

Cobblepaw looked brightly at his mother, before he joined in with the calls of the clan.
Splashstone nodded quietly, defeated and heavy. He looked once at Jasmineheart, before he shook his head and padded after Brownleaf. “I...I’m sorry, Brownleaf. We never knew that she...I suppose it was too good to be true, to feel...Agh. Just, nevermind...” He sighed, too exhausted to explain himself.

Soulspirit was shaking, her eyes wide, “I... I don’t understand. How could she do something like this?” She murmured, looking at her mate. “I don’t know...She never seemed like she was angered, or devious. She seemed normal, like any other Warrior...Is it true, that Tunnelers feel lesser than us? I...I never wanted them to feel that way.” Cinderscar admitted.

Alderfur turned, wanting to get out of camp. He needed to think for a few moments about everything.
Heathersky looked at her daughter. “Don’t step on your brother.” She told her softly before giving Ravenkit a soft lick.

Soulspirit pressed against Cinderscar and winced, her stomach hurting again, “Now that their back, I should go see Eclipsesky or Dawnshadow.” She said, looking at him, “But I’m not sure I should bother them.”
Frostblossom spotted Alderfur and padded over to him, still reeling from the shock of Meadowbrook’s crimes, “Hey, you going out?” She asked, hoping to tag along and get some space.

Ravenkit purred lightly under his mother’s tongue. He squeaked out softly. “Mama?”
“Yes, certainly. Please do...my dear, you look sicker by the day.” Cinderscar fretted, more anxious than ever as he looked at his mate.

Jasmineheart frowned as Brownleaf didn't reply but sighed, knowing the tom probably wanted to talk about something else. Flicking her ear she gazed out into the burnt territory. "Stonepath and Patchriver said the tunnels near the border were in the worst condition. Should we head there?" she asked lightly, hoping a change of subject would be appreciated.
