Fernheart gently steadied her mate. “Stay close to me.” She murmured, trying to avoid rocks so Dustfire wouldn’t trip. It wasn’t easy while carrying Cloudkit. Heathersky looked at Antpaw. She winced again as another pain shot through her. “Yeah.” She huffed. “Just a rock.” “Oh, ouch! Do you need me to see if Dawnshadow or Eclispesky can help you?” Antpaw asked, not able to tell that the queen was not injured in her foot, trusting her words.

Dustfire grunted and pressed closer to Fernheart. "You would think with all the smoke I assume there is I would have an advantage since I've been blind longer." He joked, trying to ignore the frustration that was building up inside him.

((Those on Blacktail's patrol should start making their way over to the Temp Highstones page so I can see who is still left in camp!))

Fallowmeadow squinted as fire and smoke rose into her vision. She had searched as much of the territory as possible, but Cloverleaf was no where to be seen. She shook her head and rushed back to camp, hoping their daughter would have returned.
Cloverleaf was wheezing, trapped in a tunnel. The moor runner had entered the tunnels out of desperation and was turned around from the unfamiliarity of the tunnels. She had no idea which way to go.
Eclipsesky padded near the back of the group, his mouth full of as many herbs as he could carry. His ears perked up at the mention of his name, he craned his neck to see if anyone looked hurt.

Blacktail moved to lead the patrol up towards Highstones, his ears falling back with worry for his clanmates back at the camp.

Swiftstar was glancing around the nearly empty camp. It seemed the majority of the clan had made their way out towards highstones, and not a moment too soon. Black smoke filled the sky and was starting to fill the camp. HE looked around for anyone still left.

Fallowmeadow rushed into the camp, eyes wide as she searched for her mate and any signs of Cloverleaf. "Swiftstar! I couldn't find her." she mewed, her voice tense.

Swiftstar's attention snapped to Fallowmeadow. "What?" He bounded over to his mate, thankful she was safe, but concerned for his daughter. "Get to highstones, I'll go find her." Touching his foreheard briefly to hers, he raced out of camp. The smoke had really gotten thick out on the moors, and Swiftstar sent a quick prayer to StarClan Please keep Blacktail's patrol safe.....and please help me find my daughter!. Racing along, he picked up a trace of her scent coming from a tunnel. "Cloverleaf?" He yowled into the vast tunnel system "Are you down there?"

Cloverleaf's head snapped in the direction of her father's voice, it was faint, the leader was quite far away. "Swiftstar! Help!" she pleaded.
Fallowmeadow reluctantly raced towards highstones, hoping her mate would have better luck in finding their daughter.

Swiftstar felt a surge of hope as he heard his daughter's faint voice from inside the tunnel. Without another thought he raced in. The smoke down here was thick, but it didn't make a difference as far as sight went, it was pitch black. "I'm coming Cloverleaf!" He said, leaing scent marks every now and then so he could find his way back out.

Cloverleaf tried to battle through the smoke towards her father's voice, the young she-cat coughing every now and then.

Swiftstar himself was coughing now, the smoke thick and burning his eyes and lungs. He ignored the discomfort of the tunnel, but the lack of space was slowing him down. The moor runner wasn't used to moving quickly underground. HE continued to follow his daughter's scent.

Cloverleaf quickened her pace as she felt some of the dirt around her caving in. She wailed as she realized the tunnels were starting to collapse "Father!" she yowled as she started to run.

Swiftstar felt the tunnels begin to shake as well and put on a burst of speed. "I' m not leaving you Cloverleaf" he promised, growing near to her voice. "I promise I'm right here."

Meadowbrook stood still and cold, her eyes staring down at the burned and dead body of Nettlefrost. The worst of the flames had spread farther into Windclan now, the wind sweeping them away enough for the she-cat to finally locate the tunneler. Her claws dug into the ground, her throat burning with the smoke. She narrowed her eyes sharply, wondering if the clan would even care for the loss of a tunneler like her.
She had no time or room to bury her former friend. She had no choice but to continue on, now that she was out here. She could always just return, knowing the tunnels by heart...and yet, she still knew patrols were out, and a cold coil of hatred made her antsier than ever.

Swiftstar licked his daughter's forehead as he approached, relieved to have finally found her. "I laid scent markers" he explained. "We have to get out of here as fast as we can." He forced his fur flat as another rumble from the cave sent down more dirt and rocks. "Follow me." He bolted back towards the entrance, keeping less than a taillength in front of Cloverleaf.

Cloverleaf nodded trying to hold in a whimper as the tunnels shook again. She darted after him, trying to keep herself calm. Only a few moments had past before the tunnels shifted again, this time raining dirt from above. Cloverleaf yowled as the tunnel above her head started to give way, trapping her underneath.

Swiftstar stopped as he heard his daughter cry out. Whirling around, he tried to dig desperately at the dirt and stone trapping his daughter. His frantic digging only made the tunnels shift more. "Cloverleaf! No!" He yowled, feeling grief rise up in his throat. Suddenly, the tunnel shifted again, dislodging more dirt and stones from above. Swiftstar didn't have time to run before the mass came crashing down, trapping him as well.

Cheetahheart was late in returning with the patrol to camp. While the patrol went ahead, she had remained behind to double-check that no one was around that part of the territory. She coughed out smoke, fire blazing around. In order to escape it, she jumped up on Outlook Rock. Water teared in her eyes at the sting of the smoke, she tried to see through it for any lingering clanmates.

Meadowbrook's eyes lifted as she huffed sharply. The fire was growing too strong, the smoke too thick. She would have to return to camp, assuming they would be fleeing towards Highstones. She yearned to make sure Brownleaf was not hurt, though her eyes did catch sight of something. Across the moor, perching upon the Outlook Rock, Cheetahheart seemed to be looking around. Meadowbrook felt a clinch of simmering interest, and a flash of gritted memory. Windclan's fastest moor-runner. She was practically awe-inspiring for all of the fledgling moor-runners in the clan. To lose her would be a detriment to the clan. With Blacktail not getting any younger, and Swiftstar clearly preferring experienced warriors at his paws, Meadowbrook considered the prospect of her being a candidate for leadership if plans had changed.
Taking a position that was rightfully Brownleaf's, away from the tunnelers once again. Her resolve was set, and all she could focus on now, was getting to the older she-cat as fast as she could. She rushed up, clearly not as fast at running as Cheetahheart was. Feigning fear, she called up.
"C-Cheetahheart! I found Nettlefrost and-Starclan, it was awful, she...She's dead! The fire took her!" She called. "What are you doing up there?!"

Cheetahheart perked up at Meadowbrook's call. StarClan, what was Meadowbrook still doing out here? And Nettlefrost was dead?" Cheetahheart flattened her ears. "Meadowbrook, what are you doing out here?!" Having been on patrol, Cheetahheart didn't know where the Clan had gone. "Where is the Clan?"

Meadowbrook weaved her way closer to Outlook rock, hissing lightly as some embers burned her leg. She shook her pelt and kept the words going. “Brownleaf and I were out and scented the fire! We knew that Alderfur and Nettlefrost were still out, so we worked to try and get them...I waa too late, for Nettlefrost.” Her ears fell, this time more honest in her loss, before she straightened again.
“I think the clan would go towards Highstones, right? But I’m not sure! Here, I’m coming up with you. If we can see where to go, you could find us a path, o-or I could see which tunnels are safe to take!” She called, moving to clamber up the rock.

Cheetahheart flicked her ear, not thrilled about the fact at taking the tunnels. Even if Meadowbrook wasn't able to save Nettlefrost, it sounded like Alderfur made it out. "Highstones, you're right, Swiftstar would lead the Clan there." Highstones had protected them from AdderClan, it would protect them from this fire as well." Cheetahheart moved forward to help Meadowbrook up. Most of the grass around the rock were blazing, finding a path through it would be difficult.

"Thank you, Cheetahheart. You're right, Swiftstar would know where to go." Meadowbrook sighed as the older warrior helped her up the rock. "I'm not the best climber, with my thicker legs...Alright then." She inhaled quickly and moved to perch near the edge of the rock, looking across the moor, and down into the smoking and burning plumes of grass and stone. She had to wait, for the opportune moment, deciding what she believed would be most efficient. She made a noise of distress.
"I can't see many tunnel entrances from here, but this is the best viewpoint I think. Do you see anything?" She invited, stepping aside a bit to let the senior warrior check.

Cheetahheart flattened her ears again at the mention of the tunnels, she would run through fire before she ran through those filthy tunnels. Stepping up beside Meadowbrook, she blinked through the smoke to see through the flames. There a boulder a few paces away that had a clearing of fire around it. If they could leap to it, Cheetahheart was sure they'd be able to make it to Highstones without using the tunnels. She opened her mouth to tell Meadowbrook.

“No need, Cheetahheart! I think I understand. Let’s go join our clanmates.” Meadowbrook cut the moor-runner off as she lunged forwards, her broader shoulders squaring as she shoved harshly at her with her paws the moment she saw Cheetahheart near the edge of the rock. A cold glare filled her eyes, as a rapid heartbeat filled her chest.

A hard grunt broke from Cheetahheart's throat when Meadowbrook lunged into her. SHe wasn't expecting it, so her paws scraped across the rock to help correct herself. Her balanced tipped and her eyes grew well when she fell toward the flames. Cheetahheart looked back at Meadowbrook with a gasp breaking from her throat. No. At that moment she knew that Stormfury had been right all alright. The cold hate that filled Meadowbrook's eyes left a chill in Cheetahheart's gut, but it didn't last long. When the moor-runner hit the ground, the flames that rose up all around them. Her fur was immediately snatched by the fire. Cheetahheart landed on her shoulder, a pop inside dislocating it that she couldn't spring away from the flames. She first hissed, closing her eyes to the bright and heated flames, but as the fire grew stronger, a yowl split from her throat, searing pain scorching her flesh. Tried all she could, she couldn't get out of the fire, there was too much. Cheetahheart fought to the very end, but the consumed her.
